Can i enable in-browser editing without business catalyst

I've just downloaded the trial version but haven't used it yet.  I have been watching adobe tutorials all day on Adobe Muse and so far it has everything I am looking for.
I have one question, however, I am currently designing a website for a customer who would like to have in-browser editing made available in order to update text and photo.  I work for a company who has their own IT gurus who will be hosting the website. Is it possible to enable in-browser editing without using Business catalyst or having the site hosted by adobe?  If not is this a feature that will possibly be added to Muse in the very near future?

Hello
At this stage, in-browser editing is available only for the sites that are hosted on Business catalyst.
This feature to work for other hosting providers may be added to Muse in upcoming releases.
You can join our pre-release program to know more about the upcoming releases - Adobe Muse Private Beta Program

  • Credentials for In-Browser Editing in Business-Catalyst

    Hi!
IN-BROWSER-EDITING is a really cool service, but it seems there’s one quite critical point to this.
Sharing the test-site means for me, communicating the url to someone, so he can have a look at the actual site via, e. g.: myproject.businesscatalyst.com/ or even on my own server, e. g. www.myproject.com/ with no further interaction possibility.
But I’d like to open the gate for the client to edit texts by himself, as shown in Dani Beaumont’s video “Katie’s Café” / www.katiesbakerycafe.com. Here’s the clip :
    https://helpx.adobe.com/muse/how-to/site-owners-edit-live-sites.html
And here another clip relative to the same topic:
    https://helpx.adobe.com/muse/how-to/muse-in-browser-site-editing.html
Now, if I host the site on my own server, things are quite clear: I’ll set up a separated ftp access for my client.
But if I host the site on Business Catalyst, things don’t look so clear anymore.
Katie would like to edit Details like her daily specials and things like photos of her bakery items. Therefor, so she needs to log-into the site administration. I was chatting with the MUSE-Support this morning and they suggested I should share my credentials to the client (Katie) so she can log-into the project and edit things online. Hmm…
But I don’t think Dani Beaumont, like me, would like to share her Adobe-Product-Manager’s credentials with Katie. Would she?
Support: Yes, you can share the url but for editing you have to share the credentials
Me: And Tom’s Sandwich over the road wouldn’t like Katie to have access to his projects-files Dani is also working on.
I can’t really believe Adobe is suggesting us to share our own credentials, i. e. working with and even producing such a massive security issue in Creative Cloud. I hope not. Well, actually I think I missed something. Or didn’t I?
Any hints would be much appreciated!
    G

    Hi,
Rather than sharing your credentials, you'll want to add "Katie" as a user of the Business Catalyst site. There is a direct link to "Add In-Browser Editing Users" in the dialog that shows up after Publish completes.
The same page can be accessed by selecting the File > Manage Business Catalyst Site menu in Muse, and then (in the Business Catalyst page that opens in the browser) selecting Site Settings > Admin Users.

  • How to add a user when Muse site is uploaded without Business Catalyst?

    Hello,
I have uploaded a Muse site for my client on her own ftp server. But how can I add her as a "inbrowser editor", so that she can manage the site when needed? Or is it only possible to add a user when I upload the site on the Business Catalyst host?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
The June 2014 update to Muse enables In-Browser Editing for Muse sites hosted with third-party (non-Adobe) providers.
    See https://helpx.adobe.com/muse/using/whats-new.html#In-browser%20Editing%20enhancements for specifics.

  • Using Adobe Muse without Business Catalyst

    Hi All,
I'm currently in the planning stages of designing a website for on of my clilents and was wondering what the limitations are when usnig MUSE without Business Catalyst? My client already has hosting package set up and wants to use Google Analytics to get data from the site so a Business Catalyst account wouldn't really be needed.
Things they have requested on the site are an online shopping cart and a news page that they can update themselves (using a basic CMS system).
I guess my question is, are these two features possible in MUSE without Business Catalyst or would I be better off using something like Freeway Pro to design the site?
Thanks in advance for your suggestions!
    Dan

If your client wants to update file on their own, Muse can do it, but it's only possible combined with Business Cayalyst.

  • Can I use "In-browser editing" with my site hosted externally?

    Hi
I have my own reseller account  here in the UK. I designed and created my own CMS, but as I've designed my first site in Muse, I thought I'd give the "In-browser editing" facility a go.
Does this still work if my website is hosted externally, or do I have to pay for this feature if I wish to use it?
I've looked everywhere and can't find any information that to use "In-browser editing" is chargeable or can be used in conjunction with an externally hosted website.
    Cheers
    Glynn

    Hi Both
    Thanks for your replies.
Sanjit, Adobe could perhaps make this clear on this page http://www.adobe.com/uk/products/muse/features.html where it is listed as:
    "In-browser editing
Let website owners make changes to the content of their live sites through a browser. Choose whether to merge changes with the original Adobe Muse files."
    Perhaps it could say
    "In-browser editing
Let website owners make changes to the content of their live sites through a browser. Choose whether to merge changes with the original Adobe Muse files. [ONLY available with Adobe Business Catalyst]"
or in the video if you click the title.
    Cheers

  • With Muse, can you use In-browser editing of websites using Third-party Hosting Service Providers or not?

On this page:http://www.adobe.com/inspire/2013/12/in-browser-editing-muse.html, it says you must use Adobes hosting. On this page: https://helpx.adobe.com/muse/using/in-browser-editing-websites-third-party-hosting.html, it indicates you can purely from the title. Which is it?

    Hi Bob,
I found out how to do it, you drag the bounding box of the image container or rectangle to the edge of the browser boundary - as in the gray area around the edge - it snaps to it and the edges of the container go red to show this, and when its previewed it spans 100% of browser width. This video from Lynda explains how:
Creating the header and the footer (Updated) from the Course Designing a Portfolio Website with Muse
I can't upgrade as I have windows vista and the new version doesn't run on Vista, don't really want to buy a new computer just to run the latest Muse!
    Cheers!

  • Is there any way to publish from Adobe Muse directly to a domain without Business Catalyst?

I'm getting extremely frustrated with Adobe Muse. I think it's ridiculous having to go through Business Catalyst to publish a website when I have already purchased my own domain. Please tell me there is a way around this.

No problem. We recognize it would provide a more consistent user experience if we merged all possible output paths under the "Publish" experience. It's just not something that's hit the top of the priority list, yet. Enjoy Muse.
Just as an fyi, there are currently 2 features that require BC hosting, so you may want to keep those in mind as you plan/develop your site.
    1) The CAPTCHA field in forms; and
    2) The In-Browser Editing functionality.
We are aware many customers would like to see these features enabled on non-BC hosting.

  • Unable to Edit in Business Catalyst

i have full admin privileges but seem to be unable to edit using the "Edit" tab.  nothing happens when i click the tab.  Tried using both IE 11 and Chrome.   i have been able to do this in the past, but have not tried in a few months.
i am not an IT specialist.  How can i contact a live person to help?

    Hi,
If still having troubles with the editor I would recommend seeking additional help via BC direct support so they can look into your set-up and attempt to replicate your concerns.

  • Muse and "In Context Editing" in Business Catalyst

Since they updated the ICE feature in Business Catalyst, the sites I create in Muse do not seem to have the same ICE editability that they used to. I can edit the text, delete and add text in the edit popup. But the small tool bar that used to (below the "Edit Content" title) allow you to edit links, fonts/weights, indents etc. has disappeared. Am I missing something? Have I missed a step? Please advise any help would be appreciated.

    Hi Abhishek,
I believe Lawrence is looking for editing features in ICE that are only available in the BC sites. If sites are created in BC even with the new Ice editor you still have access to basic formating of text etc.
Here is a screen shot from a site I just recently went live with. These features are available in a site started in BC but not ones started within Muse.

  • Edits in Business Catalyst

    Hi

When I go back and edit the site through muse the updates will not be there?

  • Can you set up email forwarders in business catalyst?

I currently have a hosting solution that has unlimited email forwarders that you can set up.  I want to bring my site to business catalyst, but I need to know if you can set up email forwarders through it as well.  And if so, is there a limit on the number of forwarders?
    Thanks!

If you use Webmail, surely you can forward the messages. Have a look to the settings. However I am not sure about hoe many emails can be added here.

  • Muse and Typekit without Business Catalyst

Hello! I've been watching this useful video (http://tv.adobe.com/watch/learn-muse/working-with-typekit-fonts/eng/) but I have a dobut. I'd like to know if Typekit works correctly if I don't use Adobe Business Catalyst to upload my website and I use another server to host my website.
    Thanks in advance.
    Lucía.

You can use your own server to host websites with typekit fonts. The only thing that requires BC hosting is the use of their form features.

  • Adding a blog without Business Catalyst

I can't be the first to ask about this: Clients want blogs added to their site but do not want to opt for Business Catalyst hosting. What options are available that allow the creation of a blog that will integrate well with a non-BC site, and that will actually increase site rankings for the site. Many of the blog solutions won't help with the SEO of the site they're on because they're not actually hosted on the site itself, merely a feed from another separate site.
I have a new client who is a major player in the mortgage industry who wants a complete corporate makeover and new branding, and they must have a blog on their site. There's an excellent budget for the project, and I have accepted the job. I now have to make it work and figure out a solution. I'm hoping the geniuses at Muse and in the Muse community will be able to point me in the correct direction on this thorny problem.

    Hi,
Please take a look at this post : Re: Ho do i add a wordpress blog to my site?
