can i establish wifi direct between lg smart tv and imac 10.6.8?

In order to do that you will need an AppleTV, you can buy them refurbished from Apple for $75.00. I just got one and love it. I have a fairly large DVD library (about 400 movies) and music library (500 + albums), with AppleTV I can now stream that content to the the link to the refurbished unit is:

EDIT:Whoops I misdirected you. To stream content from the TV to the computer you will probably need a third party device like and Elgato box. I can only refer you to their website at: http://www.elgato.com/eyetv

  • In ical, how can you tell the difference between a meeting invite and email?

When you send a meeting invite in ical, does the recipient receive a different icon in their inbox to differentiate from an email?

For service stock you can't tell the difference between a new iPad and a refurbished one. Both will come in a plain brown box with the same pattern in model numbers. If you mean between a refurbished one and one new at retail, then other than the obvious difference in packaging, I've read that the model number on refurbished units starts with the letter "F", though I've not confirmed that.
    Regards.

  • Hi, can anyone explain the difference between the models A1457 and ME432B/A of the iPone 5s. Thanks

Hi, can anyone explain the difference between the models A1457 and ME432B/A of the iPone 5s.

    Hi Gary,
Model # A1457 designates that it's the European market model, which I believe works on EE, Vodafone and O2 in the UK.
ME432B/A is the part # that, in your case, I believe, desginates a 16GB Space Grey Unlocked version...
Someone can correct me if I'm wrong on that

Yes, you can install it on both. You can't have it running on both computers at once unless you have two licenses for it.

  • Can Numbs app for iPad be used for iPhone and iMac?

Can Numbs app for iPad be used for iPhone and iMac?

I assume that you mean Numbers, in which case the iPad version can be used on the iPhone (if you've got the current version of Numbers then you will need iOS 5 on your iPhone). It can't be used on your iMac as that is a different operating system, you will need the Mac OS X version for that - but you can use spreadsheets created in Numbers on the iPad in Numbers on the Mac and vice versa.

  • If 2 clients can't be neighbours can they establish a direct stream connection?

I used to have 2 computers (connected over a strange network) that could not become neigbours in the same NetGroup!
Because of that I am now exchanging the farID's trough the database similar to the Cirrus sample (I used to exchange it trough the NetGroup).
But now I find that even a direct stream connection between the same computers is not really possible!
So, if 2 clients can't be neighbours is there any chance they can establish a direct stream connection?

no.  exactly the same kind of RTMFP connection is attempted between the two computers.  direct connections and group communications are just different kinds of flows over an RTMFP session.

  • Can't establish cable connection between mini and TC

I recently had to restore the system on my mini.
it is now in a 'just purchased' state.
previously i backed up everything wirelessly (even the initial backup),
so now i have the most recent working backup on my TC.
NOW i want to restore the system from TC to its recent working state.
but it seems i can do it only wirelessly, as hooking up mini and TC via Ethernet cable won't help mini see the TC.
I turn off AirPort on my mini,
connect TC's LAN port to mini.
    Turn on TC.
    In my Network Settings
    Ethernet properties are:
    Location - Automatic
Status - Connected (active and has the IP address 192.168.1.12)
Configure - DHCP with manual address
    IP Address - 192.168.1.12
(DHCP can be left automatic with the only difference that
Status says CONNECTED, BUT since the 'IP is assigned automatically, Ethernet MAY NOT be connected' - have no idea what this MAY NOT means, although when i unplug the cable, Ethernet connection disappear from the list)
Now the Time Machine doesn't see any devices as the source of backup.
    What am i doing wrong?
i can still run the time capsule wirelessly, but as far as i remember the initial (wireless) backup of approx 80 gigs took more than 24 hours... i'm not that patient anymore.
    Please help.
    Thank you.

  • Can I increase communication speed between my Epson printer and the airport?

I am having trouble printing large documents on my Epson printer.  typically I can print up to 10 pages of a document and then the printing fails.  In speaking with Epson, they are telling me it is the communication speed between the router (Airport Express) and the printer.  I am registering about 26 mbps and they are recommending 52 mbps.  It is connected through the wifi.  Signal strength is excellent.  The printer is in a second floor home office, and the Airport is located downstairs on the 1st floor about 15-20 feet away.  Is there a way to increase the communication speed without having to move the Airport upstairs (which of course would cause connection problems with other devices). Thank you

Please check out the following AirPort User tip about base station placement for better bandwidth performance. The key is that a slight change in position of either the AirPort or the Epson printer may improve the situation.

  • Can I share my ipod between my work PC and my home Mac?

I have an iPod mini that i routinely sync with my mac at home. I just started a new job and am foced to use a PC in my office (Windows XP Pro). I want to connect the iPod to my PC and play music off of it, sync contacts, etc.
I installed iTunes on the PC and tried to connect my iPod to it but was greeted by a dialog box saying I would have to reformat the iPod to have it work with the windows box.
This completely defeats my goal of sharing the iPod between the PC and my home mac! I do not want to loose any of the info off the ipod which syncs regularly with my home mac.
I've read a few posts here that suggest it is impossible to share the ipod between the windows and mac... this sounds incredible to me though - if true, a tremendous oversight on Apple's part, especially as they try to move to being more and more integrated with the PC world.
Any tricks out there that might help?
    Thanks!

I took the plunge and reformatted the iPod mini using the windows ipod software. (This erased everything on the ipod)
I next set up the ipod with itunes for windows on my work pc and made it sync my favorite podcasts. I took the iPod home and plugged it in to my mac - it was recognized perfectly by the mac. Using the mac, I set the ipod up to sync contacts from address book and then loaded up about 3 gigs of music.
Now I take the ipod back and forth each day - it continues to sync podcasts at work via the pc and contacts at home via the mac... I can manage the music on the ipod manunally using either the mac or the pc... at work i can listen to music on the ipod through itunes and some JBL speakers I hooked up to the pc. The only thing I can't do is sync contacts via the ipod between outlook (pc) and address book (mac), but I can live with that.
The moral of the story - if you want to share the ipod between a pc and mac, it's easy to do so - but you must first format the ipod with the windows version of the ipod software. Then it 'plays nice' with both platforms.
Hope this helps anyone else out there with similar problems... elsewhere I've heard complaints about trying to get contacts out of address book and into microsoft outlook - turns out you can select a bunch of contacts in address book, hold down the option key while dragging them into a folder and they each get copied as individual vcards - then you can import them into outlook.

  • Can't see shares between Windows XP PCs and iMac

I have an Intel iMac running 10.4.9. I have 2 Windows XP-based PCs. One Windows PC and the iMac are connected wirelessly. The other Windows PC is on wired Ethernet. On both the Windows PCs and iMac the firewalls are disabled. The machines are on the same IP subnet (192.168.2.x)
Windows file sharing is turned on via the Mac's System Preferences. In addition, I've created an SMB share to another volume using SharePoints. I also set the SMB workgroup of the of the machines to a common name. Likewise, I have shared directories on both Windows PCs.
My problem is that I can't access the shares on the iMac from the Windows PCs and vice versa. The Windows PCs can see each others' shares.
One thing I've noticed is that I can't ping the iMac from a Windows PC, but I'm not sure if that service is normally running on the iMac. I can ping both of the Windows PCs from the iMac. I can see the computername of the iMac in the Windows Network list of workgroup computers, but when I click on it, I get a message that it's not accessible and that the network path was not found. I don't see the Windows PC's workgroup in the Mac's Network browser via the Finder at all. I also can't connect using the "Connect to Server command" and directly entering the IP address as "smb://192.168.2.2/sharename" I just get the "Connecting..." window and the candycane progress bar indefinitely.
This all worked at one point with a previous router, but I didn't use any sharing for a month or two and switched routers. But basically the network's config is the same.
Any ideas how to get sharing working in either direction?
    Thanks,
    Judd

Well I've double checked and under the Sharing preference, if I click on the Firewall option (tab), it says "Firewall Off" with a "Start" button below it. I also tried turning it on (with the various services that I want to enable checked in the list below it) and turning it back off. Same result: I can see the iMac in the Windows network neighborhood (and the iMac's iTunes shared library name in iTunes) but if I try to access the share or the iTunes library, the Windows PC fails to connect.
Is there some command I can issue in Terminal to better see what state the firewall is in?
Yes, I have a wireless router, through which the Windows PC and iMac are connecting.
    Thanks,
    Judd

  • Can anyone tell the difference between USB 3.0 and 2.0?

I have both a 8GB flashdrive 3.0 and 2.0. I got the 3.0 at office depot for $8.00 and 2.0 for the same price at best buy. I honestly can't tell the difference between the two. They both seem to be the same in speed. Is there really a difference?

This is an interesting subject, I just recalled a MacWorld podcast I was listening to when the 3.0s were first hitting the market. A guest on the podcast was saying to think of it like a 'bottle neck' not so much as speed. With the 3.0 you can push more information through at any one time. So in the case of the hd movie senario, if you had multiple movies transfering at one time the 3.0 would be a lot faster than a 2.0.
