Can I exchange my five-day-old MBP for the newer model?

Hi,
Friday before last I ordered a new 13" MacBook Pro, and I received it in the mail last Thursday. I've been using it and I love it. However, today Apple released the new MBP's with slightly better processors and graphics. The one I already have is still in near-perfect condition, as I've only had it for five days. Would I be able to send it back to Apple and exchange it for the newer model? If so, would it cost me anything... and would the increased performance be noticeable enough to be worth the cost and trouble?
Aside from web browsing and other general stuff, I use my MacBook for design programs like Adobe Creative Suite. If I do end up being able to do some kind of exchange, I'll almost certainly go for the 2.4 GHz 13".
Thanks for your time!

Update: Sorry, I didn't see the other similar threads. I should have looked first.
Apparently it's possible, since I'm under the two-week limit, but how do I go about the business? Whom should I email/call?

  • Can I exchange my late 2009 macbook pro for the new 2010 one?

Ya, just what the subject asks... I really like to keep up with technology, and I bought my macbook pro like 1-1/2 to 2 months ago...

There aren't really any quad-core options that have reasonable power requirements at this time. The current machines that do use the mobile i7 quad core processors are all pretty hefty desktop replacement machines and typically get just a few hours of runtime on battery.
One of the advantages of the i5 and i7 (dual core) over the previous Core 2 processors is that they use Hyperthreading. So, the OS actually "sees" 4 cores and each of those four cores can be utilized as if it were an actual core.

Apple does not take trade-ins. You'll have to look for a dealer that does, though you'll probably get more for the iPad 1 if you sell it yourself.

  • Can i trade my ipod touch 4g 8gb for the new 5g

Hi i bought my ipod touch 4g 4 months ago and now i saw the ipod 5g and i really want to buy it but the bad thing is that my ipod is only 8gb while the ipod 5g is in 32 gb so what i was wondering is whether they would let me trade my old ipod for the new one or whether they would give me a discount. I have 200 dollars saved up but its still not enough to buy the new one.By the way i'm only 13 so please no harsh answers
    Thanks

If you purchased it within the last 14 days you can return it for a full refund and then purchase the 5G. Otherwise Apple will only give you a 10% recycling discount if you turn in an old iPod and purchase a new one.

  • Is there anyway to exchange 3 week old rMBP with the new model that just came out.

    Hi,
I bought a 13-inch rMBP on 17.02.2015 and the new rMBP was released today, so 3 weeks have passed. Is there any possibility that I can exchange mine for the new one?
    Regards.

If you purchased your current MBP directly from Apple, you have 14 days to return it for an exchange or refund.  You are past that.
    Ciao.

  • Do you think Best buy would let me exchange my mbp 13 for the newer model?

I just bought an open box mbp 13 from best buy on march 28th and now I see they have this new mbp with 2gb more ram and a better video card, not to mention double the hdd. I know they have a 14 day return policy, but do you think they would let me exchange the one I got for the newer one? Or is there some kind of exchange program through apple?

That is just it I only got the usual 10% open box discount. Where I live you have two choices, the apple store (same 10% discount, if they have an open box, which they never did). Best buy also 10% off if open box. Still $100 is $100. But yeah $100 is not going to put me at 4gb ram, better video card, although it could get me a way better hdd then the newer model hehe. Really though that is the least of my worries. See I do photo editing of large raw files in Photoshop so memory and video card upgrades would be great. Oh well no use crying over spilled milk. Im just feeling like cinnamon toast crunch, because I could have got these upgrades for way less then what they will cost me for free virtually. Not too mention the video card is not even a possible upgrade.

  • If I buy an ipad 2 with more memory, can i transfer everything from my old ipad to the new one

If I purchase an ipad 2  with more memory, can I transfer all the contents of the old ipad to the new one?

You can backup your current iPad, and then restore the new iPad from that backup (a list of what is included in a backup is in this article http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4079 - it excludes music, videos, synced photos). As the backup doesn't contain the actual apps, just their settings and content, for the restore to work completely you'll need all the relevant apps in your computer's iTunes library - otherwise the restore won't be able to install the apps and therefore their content (if you don't have the apps on your computer then you can re-download them for free : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519)
Restoring onto a different device won't restore passwords so you'll need to enter your router and email passwords and any passwords stored on websites.

  • Exchange SMS from my old Iphone to the new one?

I would like all of my sms textmessages to transfer from my old Iphone3 to the new Iphone4. Is this possible?

No iTunes content on the iPhone including 3rd party apps are included with the iPhone's backup. All iTunes content on the iPhone should be in your iTunes library on your computer.
This is completely separate and not related to the iPhone's backup, which is updated by iTunes as the first step during the iTunes sync process. The link I provided includes all info about the iPhone's backup - the data included with the backup, etc.
There is no setting to include or not included messages and the same for any other data that is included with the iPhone's backup. It is automatic per the link provided.
Check you check the link for MobileSyncBrowser and use that to see if the messages are available with your backup to extract by the utility? I believe there is a free trial that is limited but at least will determine if the messages are included with your old iPhone's backup. If not, they are gone unless they are still available on your old iPhone. If so, you can delete the existing backup for your old iPhone and manually create a new backup for your old iPhone with iTunes.

  • Can I use my old number for the new iPhone 5?

I have an ordinary O2 SIM card that in would like to use for the new iPhone 5, I would love to keep my old number because it would be too much hassle with a new number, is this possible?

Sure, go to an O2 store or an Apple store.

  • Should I trade in my MBP for the new MacBook?

I bought an MBP when they first came out so I have a 1.83 chipset.
Since the new Mac Books now have the same chipset but even faster, should I dump my MBP and get the new MacBook?
I use it mostly on the road for email and MS Office. I would not mind the smaller screen.
Wouldn't I notice some speed in web surfing or should I just stay with what I have. I know I will lose money on the MBP, but I am confident I will get enough to pay for the new MacBook.
Any advice about the pros and cons would be appreciated.

If it's a matter of finances then you'll probably end up losing more money in the long run. The reason is that by selling now you will be selling your MBP in the period where you lose, just like a car, the most. If you are happy with it you might as well hang on to it for the 3 years or so you planned on having it for. It's not as if the same thing isn't going to happen in 6-12 months time if you do decide to change.
Additionally, it's not as if your MBP got slower because a faster MB/MBP got released. Your requirements aren't on the bleeding edge so don't fret over it. You didn't buy Cinderalla's horse and carriage.

  • Can I use my 10W iPad 2 charger for the new iPad air?

I need several chargers - work, home, travel. Therefore, can I use the 10W chargers from previous iPad models for the new iPad Air? I don't want to purchase 2/3 additional chargers when I purchase my new iPad. Also, can I use the 12W iPad air charger for my iPhone? I don't want to fry it so want to confirm beforehand.

The new model will have the 12W charger, so you should be able to use it with the new model - from http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4327 :
iPad models come with one of two different adapters. iPad (third generation) and earlier comes with a 10W adapter while iPad (4th generation) comes with a 12W adapter. iPad mini comes with a 5W adapter.
While these USB Power Adapters are designed for use with iPad or iPad mini, you can use them to charge all iPhone, iPad, iPad mini, and iPod models by connecting them with either the Lightning to USB cable or the 30-pin to USB cable.

  • I want to exchange my three month old iPod for a new one at target in new jersey. It's has mechanical problems and it's not my doing. When I exchange at target will they charge me and if how much?

I have my iPod touch four since black Friday; November. It's been acting weird lately.
It's randomly crashing. On my photos on videos an none of my friends experience that.
It's been blacking out and freezing and there is a whole load of battery left.
I taken care of it. It has one or two minor scratches and I keep it in the right temperature. (never leave it in my car on a cold Or sunny day.
I bought it in target and I want to exchange it for a new one. I'm sick of it freezing and running extremely slow when I have Four apps. I have less then fourth photos. I have loads of memory. If I exchange it in target will they make me pay a returning fee and if so how much?
Also, I have a app tht I paid 9.99 for (math app) if I return my iPod will it still be on my iTunes so I could redownload it to my new one?
    Thanks so much.

I would take it to an Apple store, if it's deemed defective you will receive a new one.
Before this make sure you try to reboot, reset, restore
As for the app, you can reload purchases from the cloud but it you should be syncing to iTunes. Also backup your device.

  • I just recently purchased Macbook Pro Retina, and I am wondering how I can migrate my stuff from my old MCP to the new one?

Migration has made my life so much easier two years ago when I replaced my iMAC.
Now I am replacing Macbook Pro to the new one with Retina display.
I used to use Firwire to migrate all my data to the new machine.
However in the new MBP, there is no more firewire, but USB 3.0 and Thunderbolt.
    My old MBP has neither.
Is it still possible to migrate?  What should I do?

  • I just bought a new ipod shuffle, how can i transfer music from my old ipod onto the new one

How do I transfer from my old ipod to my new ipod

You can't transfer it directly.  If the old iPod is set to sync to your iTunes library on the computer, everything on the iPod is in your iTunes library.  Just set up the shuffle to sync from your iTunes library as desired.
If the old iPod is set to Manually manage music, AND there are songs on the iPod that are not in your current iTunes library, please post back.
