Can I Export a Gapless Album?

Hi,
I'm a musician who's just wrapping up work on an album of my own music I'd like to make available for download as a single, free, zipped file on my website.
I've got the songs set up with the desired pauses between them as a gapless album in iTunes. Most of the songs go right into the next with a few exceptions. (Adding time to the Options tab's Stop Time parameter seems to do the trick.)
Is there any way to export this album from iTunes? If I just drag the song files onto the desktop, will the Gapless and Stop Time settings be respected?
I haven't figured out a good, objective way to test this.
Does anyone know for sure how this all works?
Thanks.

I don't know for certain, but I suspect that if you export the files as MP3, the whole files will be exported and each individual user would have to choose to make each song Gapless. I doubt the Stop times would be respected in the export.
Are you familiar with the program, Audacity? It's a free, open-source sound editor. Using Audacity (rather than iTunes), you could record and splice your songs (I highlight the portion I want to be a single track and then use File -> Export Selection as MP3). You might have success naming the tracks with track No then name for the sake of the zip file. You'd have to include instructions (a read-me) telling the user to make the files gapless.

  • Can I export an iPhoto album as thumbnails?

Let's say I have an iPhoto album of 200 jpeg pictures.  When I highlight the album in the left sidebar of the iPhoto page, all the pictures display as thumbnails. I want to remove the pictures from iPhoto and put them on a DVD or CD-R.  This is no problem, but the pictures are then displayed as generic jpeg icons with the cryptic digital camera picture designations such as IMG_0285.JPG.  This makes it extremely laborious finding a particular picture.  Is there any way that the pictures can be exported/saved/downloaded to a removable medium so that the thumbnails will be displayed instead of the jpeg icons?  Thanks.

I know what reboot means.  I just don't know what "see if you can the preference change to jump start"  means.
I tried to follow your instructions, but I must have done something wrong.  I got this icon with the Show Icon Preview turned on:
And I got this with the Show Icon Preview turned off:
I had the options of saving the TextEdit document as a "Rich Text Format", "HTML", Word Format" or "Word XML Format".  I took the default one, the first one.  I saw no option to save as a ".txt" as you did.

  • Where can I find the gapless album option, Itunes 11.4

Tried to locate the gapless album option. Album bought on Itunes, 2second gap between all songs. Have no idea how to change even after reading posts.

    There is no gapless option.
If the album is gapless it will play as gapless.
This has always been the case. (since iTunes 7)
The ONLY thing that option did was to not fade songs over each other if it was checked AND songs on the same gapless albums were played consecutively.
It did not make the album gapless.

  • How can I export an entire album to my desktop so any user can access my photos?

Is there an easy way to export photos from my iPhoto library so that other users can access them without needing a Mac or iPhoto?

But if it's a big album, be sure to create a new folder on the desktop first, to export them into. Having hundreds of individual photos on your desktop will slow your computer to a crawl.

  • How to export/import an album?

I usually load my photos from my camera to my G4 laptop, edit them there during the trip and create an album with selected pictures.
After returning home, I load all the origininals to my desktp G5 (no problem, however, the "film" information is lost, all the pictures show up under the same heading).
But how can I export/import an album which has been created on the laptop? When I use the export/import function then the pictures are there on the G5, but the sequence is changed. This is quite a nuisance!
    Who can help?

The problem is that iPhoto can have only one library open at time except for the special case when the second library is on a CD. So you would have to burn a CD for one or more albums in iPhoto on your laptop and then move the CD to your desktop. The second library will then show up in the iPhoto listing on your desktop, and you can then drag the album you want to import into the desktop iPhoto library. I think you should be able to use a CD-RW here so that you don't have to use up a new CD-R each time.

  • Burning a gapless album

How can I burn a gapless album from an album with tracks. (For example opera downloads have tracks with silence at the end of each track for up to 10 seconds; even though, the burned cd should have no gaps whatsoever.) I've tried using get info and making all tracks gapless, turing on and off crossfade, and setting the gap to none on the burning popup. I'd appreciate any help.

I am having a similar issue in that I have recorded a DJ set in Sound Studio, split the tracks by markers, and imported the tracks into iTunes. If I play the mix in iTunes, it plays seamlessly from one track to another, but when I burn the same seamless, gapless mix album to a CD, there are the slightest gaps, or jumps, between tracks. iTunes will not allow me to change the start and stop times of the tracks, but I think it's a larger issue. I didn't have this problem until I downloaded iTunes 9. I made perfectly good copies of some of the same mix albums in iTunes 8 that will now no longer burn properly. I have even handed out some of these as demos, which makes the whole issue personally embarrassing. I didn't bother to check them out as they had burnt fine before this whole debacle.
I thought it was perhaps something I did during the splitting of the tracks and transition to iTunes, but I've tried to burn copies of CD mixes from other artists, off of professionally recorded and published original CDs, with the same result.
My mixes are useless if there is even the slightest pause between track. Any continuous album is useless in this sense, and I don't see how this can be an issue that iTunes has not resolved by now. Does anybody have the same issues as a DJ? Can you recommend how I can import my split tracks into another program that will burn me a continuous mix CD that sounds proper? Any help would be appreciated.

  • Can i export an album from iphoto to a memory stick with the album title to identify the the file

I would like to put my photos as per album on to a memory stick, can this be done with the named albums, so I can highlight the album then open the chosen title and then select the chosen photo, I only have iphoto on my mac and have a 32GB memory stick,  Hazel

If you want you can export the contents of that album via the File ➙ Export ➙ File Export menu option and select File Name  = Use Album Name with Number and each photo will be exported with the Album Name as the file name followed by a sequential number, i.e. Album Name-01.jpg, Album Name-02.jpg, etc.
Then put them in a folder and drag the folder onto the memory stick.

  • I have finally figured out how to export an iphoto album so that I can maintain the proper order of the photos after burning the file. How do I keep each individual photo title and description after exporting and burning?

I have finally figured out how to export an iphoto album so that I can maintain the proper order of the photos after burning the file. How do I keep each individual photo title and description after exporting and burning?  Presently after exporting and burning each photo is identified by the file name rather than each individual title description.

File name and Title are not the same thing.
Filename is attached to the Jpeg file in the Finder.
Title is attached to the photo within the Jpeg file - as is the description. These are written to the Exif and IPTC metadata on export.
So: File -> Export. Kind: Jpeg or Tiff and Check the box at 'Title and Keywords'. This will write the Title, keywords and descriptions (though not explicitly stated) to the metadata. This can then be viewed in any app that understand this material.
You can choose, if you wish, to also use the Title as a Filename - that's an option at File Name

  • Can't export downloaded album

I purchased an e-album on amazon.com. It appeared in my I-tunes library, where I'm able to listen to it and to burn a CD. However, I can't export it to my Rhapsody software so that I can download it to my Sansa. When I try to "Import files" using Rhapsody, I browse the folders in the Itunes folder, but no folder appears for the downloaded album. I also tried exporting the files from ITunes as a playlist, but the files don't appear in Rhapsody when I do this. ITunes knows that the songs are there, but the files seem to be invisible. Any ideas? Thanks.

I browse the folders in the Itunes folder, but no folder appears for the downloaded album
Select one of the songs, right click - Show in Windows Explorer.

  • Can you export a single photo album from Iphone 4 to your computer

  • How can I export a folder of images using the original file data?

I have edited my images within the "Develop" mode, but now need to export as jpg's using those settings (note: some are now B&W) and then I also need to process as jpg's using the original settings (color), so my client has all the original color files as well. My files were all shot in the Nikon RAW format, but I can't figure out how to export all the images without using the develop adjustments I have made to each file, including having changed many to B&W. Is there a way to do this? Note that I also don't want to lose all of my adjustments, so can't just reset them all, if that's even an option.

    2) Now I need to export all the images that have at least 2 stars
(around 1200), so I can give the client a folder of "originals." This
way, they can view images that didn't make the final edit (album) and
will also be able to print an image that I converted to B&W for
    their album in color.
First of all, I think making a backup of your directory (using Explorer or Finder or whatever) might be prudent before you start this little experiment!
So, all of your originals are in one folder, and ~1200 of those are 2-star and 384 are 5-star and have edits, correct?
What might be easiest (although not the most effecient) is to just click on the folder, then use the Library Filter to select everything that's 2 stars and above. This will select all the images that need exporting.
Then follow Jao's instructions for creating a new collection and removing the edits. Make SURE you create your new collection with VIRTUAL COPIES or you're going to wipe out everything you've done.
Your new collection should then  have virtual copies of everything 2-star and above, in their original unadulterated state. You can then export to JPG.
I think from now on I will export those files with 2 stars first, then narrow down the the final 384 and make adjustments
You could always create a collection of your "keepers" (2-stars and above). Then, for every image you want to edit, be sure to edit the virtual copy  and then put it in a subcollection under the main collection.
That way you kind of have a history of what you did, and you can export (or re-export) at any time. You don't even really need to keep the exported JPGs around, since you can always re-export.
Scott Kelby has a Lightroom book that illustrates this kind of workflow much better than I can. I highly recommend it.

  • HT4236 I've run out of room on my hard drive. I bought an external drive and exported all my albums to the external drive then deleted the albums from iPhoto. I want to sync both from my ext drive and new albums in iPhoto. No dice. Help!

I've run out of room on my hard drive. I bought an external drive and exported all my albums to the external drive then deleted the albums from iPhoto. I want to sync both from my ext drive and new albums in iPhoto. My photos on the devices get wiped out when I sync to iPhoto since I deleted all the albums. But when I sync to my hard drive (where I maintained the album structure) the photos are copied to my iPad but lose all the hierarchy and folder structure. Now I have to scroll through thousands of photos to try to find the one I'm looking for. Before I sync any more devices I want to know the following: 1) can I restore the album structure on my iPad by using the photo cache? 2) is there a way to sync both new iPhoto albums AND pictures in the folders in my hard drive? And 3) how can I keep the photo hierarchy structure from my hard drive intact on my devices?

    Don't do that.
Copy /Photos/Photo library/ to the external.
    Hold Option and launch iPhoto.
Select Choose library and select the Photo library you copied to the external.

  • 160 Gb Classic - Audio dropouts, gaps on gapless albums with apple lossless

    Dear All,
Since getting my new iPod Classic 160 Gb iPod Classic, I am experiencing audio dropouts that last between one and two seconds. They aren't frequent, occurring maybe one every hour or two of audio playback. They appear to be very random. If I play back the same track after having a dropout, it plays fine and doesn't happen again in the same place. This doesn't appear to be connected to my moving or shaking the iPod around, as it will happen when I am sitting down and perfectly stationary. Also, I don't think it is related to a bad earphone connection, as I a have played the iPod with several pairs of new and/or high quality earphones. More info: Most of my files are Apple Lossless and content is primarily regular music albums. Of note, this is the second 160 Gb iPod I've had with the same problems! The first one I brought down to the Apple Store in Ginza, Tokyo and they replaced it in the blink of an eye after I explained the same as above.
Prior to the 160 Gb Classic, I have owned 1st, 3rd and 5th generation iPods (plus a 2nd gen. Nano and shuffle). The 5th gen. 60 Gb was playing the exact same audio files and never had any dropouts.
I have reset the Classic and reinstalled all my music files (with the most recent ipod software 1.0.2 and running iTunes 7.5) twice now, but the problem remains. I am now thinking of taking one of two possible routes of action. a) go back down to the Apple Store and try to get another iPod replacement (and hope and pray that it doesn't experience this problem) or, b) change all my music files to something like 192 kbps and hope (and pray!) the iPod can handle the smaller file size without the dropouts. At the moment, I am leaning towards going down to the Apple Store as it would actually be the less time consuming of the two for me.
What do you wise people out there think? Exchange iPod or downsize my audio files? Or, does anyone have another suggestion or recommendation on how to resolve this issue? Thanks for any assistance.
To add to this, I have also noticed that several of my gapless albums (DJ mix CD's like those by Global Underground), no longer play consistently "gapless". Sometimes it will pass smoothly between tracks and other times there will be a small pause/gap. No doubt, I have checked the gapless album box and selected yes, in the album get info section for all of these albums, but still problems remain. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Again, my previous iPod, 5th gen. 60 Gb had none of these problems with the same files. I am really happy with the 160 Gb capacity of my new classic but feel a bit let down with these problems I'm having.
    Regards,
    Peter B.

Thank heaven! I thought I might be the only one.
My situation almost exactly mirrors your own. My first 160GB classic suffered from sudden dropouts, apparently random and almost impossible to replicate in any predictable fashion. For example, I'd start playing an album and would hear a one or two second dropout in the second track, but in attempting to replicate the situation exactly (as in, powering down the iPod, powering it back up and starting over from the first track of the album) I'd find that the fault didn't recur. Restoring and reloading made no difference at all.
So I took it in to the Apple Store and had it replaced, loaded the replacement up with music and was dismayed to discover myself facing the same problem. I too have had several iPods which were loaded off this same library, and none of them ever gave trouble in this fashion.
I think the issue might just be the size of the files in our libraries. The bulk of my files are at 320kbps, and you mentioned yours were mostly Lossless - could it be that the classic has problems dealing with large files? It's a very frustrating issue, since the audio quality of my classic is so much better to my ears than that of my previous iPod 5G.
I recommend that you take the iPod in and take them to task about it. That's certainly what I'm going to do - I really don't want to re-encode all my music, especially considering that I bought this iPod due to the burgeoning size of my library, and re-encoding would defeat the point. Plus, since it has better sound it sort of deserves to be loaded with larger files. I just hope this isn't an irremediable issue, which I'm starting to suspect it might be, since your iPods were obtained in Japan and mine in the UK. I'll continue posting as this unfolds, and I hope you'll do the same.

  • How can I copy a iPhoto album onto a flashdrive along with the photo information?

How can i copy an iPhoto album to a flashdrive along with photo information, in order to send it to a friend please?

File -> Export. In the resulting dialogue you can choose to export the Original. Or, if you choose to export a Jpeg you can get the edited version. Check the boxes at 'Keywords and Descriptions' and 'Places Information' and you'll get the metadata, if that's what you mean by "photo information"

  • Can't export more than 369 photos

For reasons that baffle me (but probably to do with my trying to tinker with my library) I have some 21,000 photos in my library of which only about 3000 or so are originals - the rest are duplicates of one sort or another or (grrr) faces.
The only way I can think of dealing with this is to export all the photos and delete all the dulicates (and faces. Grrr) manually. But iPhoto won't export more than 369 files at once - I then get the message "unable to create /Users/username/Desktop/photo_folder" (this of course being the name of the folder I've created into which to export the photos.
I'm baffled. It makes no difference where I pace the folder, what it's called, which photos I try to export (I thought perhaps there was a corruped file in there), but nothing. It will not export more than 369 files at once. Clearly I can not export 21,000 files in batches of 369.
    Suggestions?
    10.6.4, iPhoto 9 8.1.2

For dealing with duplicates in iPhoto check out Duplicate Annihilator. As to the Faces pics? Put them in the trash and empty it.
Alternatives: Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.
That message usually suggests an issue with your Library database.
