Can I export folder content

Hi all,
Just wondering if there is a quick and easy way to select certain emails within a given folder and export this as a readable file.
Reston being that I just would like to be able to have available on the btmail client only those emails that I have received for the year that we are in and to be able to have a reader able file for each previous year.
I hope that I have been clear in the way I have put my question.

You would have to use an e-mail client like Thunderbird to do that. It has an archiving feature which allows you to archive mail locally on your computer. Archives can be organised in month and year order. You can also save e-mails as plain text if you want.

You need to remember to backup your archive folder if its stored on your computer, in case the computer goes faulty.

I have been trying to do a small applescript that could retrieve filename + date created / date modified onto a text file or somekind of output. Its pretty basic and I have found some interesting ideas, this is as far as I got...

as you can imagine am pretty new at this; all that works well, as a result i get something similar to this...

Unfortunatley I dont know how to inlude the filename in the string and more than anything how to place the results into a text file, on that side I found this string quite interesting...

Its not entirely right, I think, the idea is for that file to be named after the actual date; plus the ideal scenario would be the user being able to choose the destination of that text file, I have been trying so few things but seems to be one of those really simple things that are right in front of your nose so...you just can't see them.

Sorry for the abscence; I have been a bit busy; thank you very much for your help! it is a very functional code; I have so much to learn...
Do you know how can I limit the output? at the moment i get, hour:minute:second which is great but i dont need the seconds, I know is something really basic but my main goal is to get this info out so I can take it into excel and find out what is the lapse between each file created so I can determine the a ratio.
So far I have been creating an excel sheet, pasting info, separating fields by 'text to columns' so I can separate the time of creation of each file, then minus each entry and finally getting the lapse between files created, but I have to do this every time from scratch; and its just a lot of folders i have to go thru...
Feels to me like running around the block backwards, I think applescript may have a way of doing some part of this and even 'linking' somehow to excel (I have to say Im not a fan of the old MS) but its all very confussing because of its simplesness, and really, lets admit it... me stepping into adults ground.
Points of view are greatly appreciatted.

I can not read folder content in Bridge CC

I moved one sub folder in my external Segate Backup plus HD to another folder using bridge CC. At half way Bridge gave a warning saying that some files were not copied there might be a problem. Now I can not see the folder at all. From total size of the external drive I am guessing it is not deleted but I can not access.

Sometimes ADE gets its registration/activation confused and in a semi-authorized state.
Unfortunately, it often then gives misleading error messages about what is wrong.
Messages like those you are seeing seem quite a common form of wrone message.
Try completely removing any authorization using ctrl-shift-D to ADE (cmd-shift-D if on Mac).
Restart ADE, and then reauthorize with your Adobe ID.

How can I export the contents of my iPod Generation 2?

With older versions of iTunes, I could create a new playlist from the contents of my Generation 2 iPod. But I now have version 12.0.1.26 and there doesn't seem to be a way to have a record of the songs on my iPod after I disconnect it. Is there some way to achieve that? Alternately, is there some way to obtain a copy of an earlier version of iTunes that's compatible with Windows 8??

You can't, the Nano does not have WiFi.

How can I compare folder content with time delay

Hi all, I'm new here, with no programming skills but with a lot of LV manuals read
So, there is a C-smth program - no source. It writes .avi file in
folder if event has occur, and it names that file with exact time
(yyyy-mm-dd-hh-mm-ss) of that event. Using DAQ and program "written" in
LV 7.1 I record voltage, but I don't need to store that if nothing new
is written in that folder with .avi files. However if smt new is in it
4 minutes before and 4 minutes after event has to be recorded and
stored by LV.
I have no idea how to do this!
My major problem is comparing content of the folder with that folder but say 1 sec before.
Any suggestions?

Izidor,
You could use two different loops and share the information between them using Queues or Notifiers. One loop could be acquiring data and sending the datapoints to a consumer loop using the above mentioned methods. The consumer loop would then check the folder for files with recent timestamps for names and save the data to a file.
There are examples in example finder (help>>find examples) for Queues and Notifiers. Also press "new" at the LabVIEW Getting Started Window for looking at the producer/consumer architecture.

When performing a save as or export, enable the Range Radio Button, enter the pages you want.

Folder Structure Archiving: exporting folder structure + content

Hi,
I would like to copy a part of an existing folder structure (with included contents) from a production UCM 11g instance (I'm using Folder_g) to a development instance (using a tar of the newly created archive).
I'm trying to use Folder Structure Archiving component.
I'm using the guide:

Now, I successfully executed step 6. of "8.10.3.1 Creating a Folder Structure Archive".
However if I list on filesystem the newly created archive, what can I only see is the archive.hda file (...without references to selected folders) and no contents.
Contents was exported?...if yes, where I can found them?...if no, how can I export them?
What I expected to have is a "regular" archive as produced by the Archiver tool...
I'm missing something?
Any helps will be greatly appreciated.

Hi Simone,
I was also facing the same issue. You can try one thing, create an archive folder in your source ucm server through archiver. In the Export Data tab specify the custom query as -> xCollectionId = <Your Folder Collection Id>.You can get the collection id of your folder by seeing the preview without specifying any query and then select the extra column 'Folder' to see in the table. In this way you can export the content for the selected folder.
After that, go to the Folder Structure Archive tool and select the archive you just now have created and then slect the folder structure you want to archive.
This is not the correct way but you can try.

Can't export/write to XDCAM HD deck using Sony Content Browser Exporter

Our Studio need a workflow: Import media from Sony Content Browser v.2, and export/write back to Sony XDCAM HD deck (U2 etc.).
Sony Content Browser manual say they can Import/Export from Final Cut Pro X, But always have some problem:
Final Cut Pro X can't asign correct audio config channel to 8 mono channel for exporter
Final Cut Pro X can't set to 24bit/48kMz for Sony XDCAM HD optical disc.
How can we do? Thank.

in the spirit of armano'os last post and FYI: i picked up the cams on short notice, never used them before and there were no instructions. the ppl just told me to copy the files over to my HD, since i had to return the cams immediately and had no time to hook up the cams to FCP.
the 'mistake' i seem to have made was that i looked at the data structure and saw that the clips always ended up in the CLPR folder within each BPAV folder - each in its own folder in that fiolder and with XML and data files - so i copied directly to that one BPAV folder i copied from the first capture media i moved to my hard drive instead of copying the entire BPAV folder from each capture media. however i tested the import immediately to see if it actually played back the files in the XDCAM clip browser and they did.
i assumed all was fine with this method and it would save me a lot of duplicate BPAV folders... hopefully though this isn't the end.

Thanks Barney, I tried that but all that comes up in Spotlight are the log files that show the file paths! I don't know how Steam works. Are all the files held by Steam on their server perhaps?

I have uploaded photos from the past and they are grouped by dates. How do I seperate those photos into their own folder/album so that I can easily identify the contents. Also, what is the difference between Album, Smart Album and folders?

It would be good to take the tutorials and learn iPhoto - these are for the previous version but the concepts are the same and much of the command is the same - and it would be a worthwhile investment of time to take the iphoto tutorials - http://www.apple.com/findouthow/photos/ - they are very helpful and will save you a lot of time and frustration. - also the tutorials in iPhoto Help will be helpful - while iPhoto is easy and intuitive it does have a learning curve and it will save you time and pain if you spend a few minutes learning the basics
as to organization - events are generally time based and are the basic automatic organization - you can merge and split them to make them work better for you but they are not a good way to do detailed organization - best to leave them time based
albums are logical things that contain photos and are just pointers to the photo in the event so they take no extra space and all changes to a photo anywhere are reflected everywhere
Smart albums are the same except they are automatically filled based on the criteria you set when you create them
Folders are containers that you create and a folder can contain albums, smart albums or other folders so they are a big help in organization - like a vacation folder that holds folders for France, USA, China with each of thos folders holding albums of photos from the country

How can I export a folder of images using the original file data?

I have edited my images within the "Develop" mode, but now need to export as jpg's using those settings (note: some are now B&W) and then I also need to process as jpg's using the original settings (color), so my client has all the original color files as well. My files were all shot in the Nikon RAW format, but I can't figure out how to export all the images without using the develop adjustments I have made to each file, including having changed many to B&W. Is there a way to do this? Note that I also don't want to lose all of my adjustments, so can't just reset them all, if that's even an option.

(around 1200), so I can give the client a folder of "originals." This
way, they can view images that didn't make the final edit (album) and
will also be able to print an image that I converted to B&W for
their album in color.
First of all, I think making a backup of your directory (using Explorer or Finder or whatever) might be prudent before you start this little experiment!
So, all of your originals are in one folder, and ~1200 of those are 2-star and 384 are 5-star and have edits, correct?
What might be easiest (although not the most effecient) is to just click on the folder, then use the Library Filter to select everything that's 2 stars and above. This will select all the images that need exporting.
Then follow Jao's instructions for creating a new collection and removing the edits. Make SURE you create your new collection with VIRTUAL COPIES or you're going to wipe out everything you've done.
Your new collection should then have virtual copies of everything 2-star and above, in their original unadulterated state. You can then export to JPG.
I think from now on I will export those files with 2 stars first, then narrow down the the final 384 and make adjustments
You could always create a collection of your "keepers" (2-stars and above). Then, for every image you want to edit, be sure to edit the virtual copy and then put it in a subcollection under the main collection.
That way you kind of have a history of what you did, and you can export (or re-export) at any time. You don't even really need to keep the exported JPGs around, since you can always re-export.
Scott Kelby has a Lightroom book that illustrates this kind of workflow much better than I can. I highly recommend it.

Hi Rob,
From the screen shots it looks like your script is not formatted properly (you may refer to 'Paladin Script' in 'Sample Project' to get an idea of how the script should be formatted.).
Further please follow the steps mentioned below to use Story to PP workflow.
Create a new Film script in Adobe Story
Create scene heading – INT. LOCATION – Day (these will show up in the outline view panel on left hand side)
Hit enter, hit TAB
Enter the name of the speaker, hit TAB or ENTER
Copy over the transcribed text
Build your script this way
Number scenes from the production menu
Export ASTX file for your script : File->Export->.astx
Open Premiere Pro
Create a new project, bring in media
In the project pane, find the "Scene" column
For the clip that contains the spoken text, assign the same scene number to the clip as you have in the story script (lets say both are scene 1)
Click out of the scene box in the project panel in Ppro
Right click on the scene that you just assigned a scene number to and select – attach Story script
Select the .astx fle you exported in step 8
Click ok
You should now see the script data in the metadata panel for the clip in the metadata panel.
You can now run speech to text based on "Embedded Script metadata" to time align spoken word to the script.

What still won't work? You have the photos in a folder on the Desktop, right? So what happens when you drag that folder onto the thumbdrive? Many such drives have a slider lock switch. Make sure it's not in the locked position.
Otherwise give us more detailed info on your setup and issue.

Tried select all, copy, paste into pages, but it didn't display date modified, size & kind, and also included images of selected files, which is too large.

I did not read the rather long post. If you wish to reinstall OS X 10.4, use your software install DVD. Backup is essential. To minimize your risk, I would use an archive and install:

In that way, you will have a fresh copy of OS X and your current settings will be preserved.
Incidentally, I do not agree that the printer problem is best solved by reinstalling OS X. I have had HP printers for sometime and, on one occasion, had difficulty after an upgrade. HP technical support walked me through uninstalling all traces of the HP driver and then reinstalling.
