Can I Export My Mail Accounts?

How can I export my Mail accounts so that I can easily Import them back into a new user account? (Complete with all of the proper email details like smtp stuff.)
Thanks

Wrong place. You're looking in /Library/Preferences/ but you need to be looking in your user library, which is at /Users/yourusername/Library/Preferences
The tilde ~ is a shortcut indicating your home folder. So you can just click in your home folder, then look in the Library/Preferences for the file.

In an IPad 2, can the two different mail accounts be made private?

StashPro is an app which can keep things private.
Photos/documents/videos can be kept private and private browsing is possible with this.
no matter what you are doing, pressing the home button or power button locks the application and can be opened only by a password set by you while others can access rest of the applications.
what i do is login to the mail program in the browser and leave it there.  so, the moment you click on this app and give the password, you will be taken to your mail (on the website).
But the best part is that you can keep all sensitive documents hidden no matter how many people use it.
hope this helps.  BTW, it costs less than 2 and half dollars and its worth it.  Google StashPro and go to their website to look at additional features.
You can check the free version before buying the pro version.

  • How Can I Change Default Mail Account in Mail Application?

I have 2 Gmail accounts. Gmail1 and Gmail2. When I changed the password of my Gmail1 account - which used to be my default mail account - it changed in the Mail application so that now Gmail2 is my default mail account.
I know that usually you can go
Preferences -> Accounts -> And on the list on the left you can just drag the mail account you want to be the default account to the top of the list. But it doesn't work. It's just not possible to move them around on the list, they are all stuck.
Can anyone help me understand why I can't reorder my mail accounts, or if there is another way to which I can change my default mail account?
    Thanks.

    Hey wilhel10002,
Thanks for the question. My answer to your question relies on what you determine to be the default account. If it is simply which account is at the top of the list, yes you can re-order the accounts in the sidebar as needed (not from Mail > Preferences > Accounts).
However, I personally perceive the default account as the account that I send new messages from. This behavior can be adjusted in Mail > Preferences > Composing > Send new messages from
    Mail (Mountain Lion): Composing preferences

  • I can't keep Yahoo mail account open 2 weeks in a row even with a mark in box KEEP ME OPEN. I did go to Tools, Options, Security to check SAVED PASSWORD box

Usually, after opening Firefox, to check my Yahoo mail, I log in with my password, and mark the little box in front of KEEP ME OPEN, I can check my mail, and then close Firefox. Whenever I open Firefox, I can access my Yahoo mail account without typing my password. It stays open for 2 weeks. From yesterday, whenever I close Firefox, to access my mail account, I must log in again no matter whatever I've tried such as: Tools-Options-Security-Saved Password, or log out, then log in, type PW, mark little box to KEEP ME OPEN. I even uninstall Firefox, restart, download and re-install Firefox 8.0. The problem can never be solved. It's very annoying to log in by typing again and again my PW. Please help me out since I don't know what causes this problem. Thanks everybody who can help me out.

Benji, I did get the email server error message again last night around 8PM, but again the email does eventually go. Wondering if the 6PM to 9PM time frame is a busy time for Yahoo email servers and somehow our iTouch or portable devices take a lower priority? I seem to get the error only once a day now around that time, then everything seems fine again...could be a server issue.
Still looking for a pattern with the blank white web pages when I try and view a previous web page. Seems to happen most when I look at the "iPod touch User Guide" (on the included bookmarks)...most of the other times the previous web page loads fine so....humm....
I also had an issue with the Camera app today, the red light button and Picture/Video switch were staying dimmed...finally turned off the iTouch (holding down the Home button then pressing the Sleep/Off button on top) then turned it back on, so the iOS could reboot. That fixed the Camera app. Might want to try that too....seems like it might be a fix for a few things, especially after updating to iOS 4.2.1...

    Hello sstan114,
Great question! What type of email account are you using? Most email providers these days offer IMAP accounts (as opposed to POP). With IMAP, your changes should reflect across your devices (for example: if you read an email on your iPhone, it should be marked as read on your iPad). For more information about IMAP, see this resource:
    iCloud: IMAP
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH2585
In some cases, you may need to contact your Email provider or check out their online resources for information on how to setup your account as IMAP. The following article outlines some important information you’ll want to gather:

  • How can I reinstall my mail accounts and get all my mails back?

My internal HD died a few days ago . Fortunately I did a Time Machine backup a couple of hours before it happened .
Now my MacBook Pro is back from the repair center, with a brand new HD and Mac OS 10.6.8 installed (the system I had) .
But how can I get all my mails back? Indeed I used Mail to manage many mail accounts, and some of the inboxes or local mailboxes contain messages that are a few months if not years old. I coud reconfigure my accounts, but then I only get the mails of the last few weeks downloaded (those that were not erased from the pop3-server). Is there a possibility to get all the mails (including outbox) as it was before the crash?
By the way, I'm also still looking for my address book and my iCal calendars !!
    Thanks for help.

I have a MacBook Air, bought in 2010 or 2011.  It is running OS 10.6.8.
I have an iMac that is the same age as my MacBook Air.  My iPhone is 2nd or 3rd generation.
None can support "the Cloud".  I use gmail and my iPhone and both computers are all synced.
I can't get email on my new iPad that does use "The Cloud".
    Please help.

  • How can I remove a mail account that does not show up in Internet Accounts?

I have a Mail account that I cannot remove because it does not show up in System Preferences > Internet Accounts.  How can I remove this account permanently?

Thanks, it was linked in iPhoto.  After removing it from iPhoto I still got the same message when trying to delete the account from Mail.  After rebooting, I was able to remove the account from Mail.

  • How can I change a mail account and keep all email?

Brought my G4 home after our business closed. I want to simply change my email account info from my work info to my personal info without losing any of the saved emails from work. Did that make sense? How can I do that? I tried just changing my email address and server settings but I can't get any mail, the program times out.
Thanks very much for any advice!
    Cheers,
    Jon

Jon, First Quit Mail, then I'd backup these two Mail folders, by right clicking on them in the Finder, then choose Archive/Compress.
    Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail
    Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail Downloads
(Could be a different folder here if you chose such in Mail Prefs)
Right click on that Mail folder, choose archive, you'll get everything in the folder, and the folder itself in a file called Mail.zip, move it to a safe place, same for the Mail Downloads folder... only the plist is separate.
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist
I think not getting the Mail is a different problem. Are they differen't ISP at work & Home?
    Which Ports is it using?
    IMAP or POP on both?

  • How Can I delete a mail account from my macbook if I dont know the password to the mail account?

My cousin gave me his macbook pro in is will and didnt leave me the password to his mail account. Is it posible to delete the account? If so how?

Did he give you the software discs that came with the computer? If so, boot from the #1 disc, and reinstall the whole thing and start clean. If not, you can just create a new user account and don't use the old one. That way you can set mail up to get your own mail.

  • Can't create any Mail accounts...

When attempting to create mail accounts on my Touch (with 2.0 software) I get nowhere...
Let me rephrase that, I've tried creating yahoo and gmail accounts, and I can enter all account info, and the Touch connects to verify account info, then tells me either Gmail Account Verified or Yahoo Account Verified, drops back to the "Mail, Contacts, Calendars" Settings page, but the supposedly-added accounts are nowhere to be found... I only see "Add Account..." under "Accounts", i.e. there ain't no accounts to be found nowhere, no-how...
I've reset Network Settings, then tried restoring the 2.0 software and then creating the accounts again... nuthin'.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks in advance!

Here's the update: I bought the Touch second-hand from someone who'd upgraded to an iPhone 3G last week, and it turns out it had previously been jailbroken, and he restored before selling it to me... I upgraded it to 2.0 once I got it.
I'm guessing that, at some point, it was restored with a backup rather than as a 'new iPod', as this issue has happened to others... but it took a mittfull of googling over the weekend to discover this apparently-obscure issue!
I restored it (probably for the fifth or sixth time!) and made sure I restored as a new iPod rather than from a backup... then restored Apps, music, re-keyed various settings... then tried adding mail accounts. Voila... success!

What type of email account - POP, IMAP, or Exchange?
If an Exchange account, does your employer support accessing the account with an email client on a personal computer at home and/or with a device such as the iPad?
