Can I export my sidecar files to two or more hard drives at the same time from one computer? How do I do this, if it is possible?

Each image is imported into the LR Catalog from just one stated location on disk. And that is where the sidecar gets written.
But if you want, outside of LR, you can have a file sync utility replicate all physical changes within those folders on disk, into other corresponding locations on other drives - which hold a copy of all the same images, and a copy of the sidecars too. This might happen continuously, periodically or on demand depending on the particular tool you use... for example, the Dropbox desktop app.
If you also want to have your LR Catalog replicated, I think this can only be done when LR is not running and using that.

I connect both hard disks that get power from power supply normally. Also have ever changed the format as GUID. Which always use the power cord . I felt confusion why the issue just happened connect both hard disks with extra power at the same time. If i used one hard disk connect to firewire port . Another firewire port connect other firewire device . No problem at all.

Just go ahead and install FCS 3 normally.

Two or more people editing at the same time

Dear All,
I am planning to purchase FCP Server, and I am just in a very beginning of consideration.
Immediately, I am wondering if FCP Server can let two or more people editing on the same project at the same time.
I know it has Check-in function, and it seems to me that it just takes the project to another computer to do editing. What if another person wants to do editing on the same project?
Also, if it allows us many people to do editing on the same project, can we save the project at the same time on the same computer installed FCP Server?
Please advise.

In Final Cut Server (FCSvr) checking out a Final Cut Pro project (FCProj) creates a copy of the project file at a location you specify saving it to on your local computer. When you check out a FCProj, the project asset is locked and cannot be modified by other users. Additionally, every media asset that is used in the project is locked from being modified by other users.
However in a you're trying to have multiple users work on and edit the same project, I'd suggest start by duplicating the FCProj asset within FCSvr. Maybe start with a master capture / digitize project that contains all the media needed to work on by both editor. This will allow for multiple editors to have access to the same project media assets. In any scenario where multiple editors are collaborating, I'd suggest have them also work on separate project file and maybe split / divi up the work, based on scene, act etc.
Sequences can be easily merge between project later.

One SIMPLE, SIMPLE question that the answer seem to be no whre IN PLAIN ENGLISH! What do you have to do to have two of more tabs open at the same time. Just like ANY OTHER BROWSER LETS YOU DO! Ya know....so you can drag and drop things like pics etc.

For Pete's sake. This is not rocket sience. What more details do you want. I want two tabs OPEN at the same time so I can copy from one to the other or drag and drop from one to the other.

You can copy text and hover that selected text with the left mouse button down on another tab on the tab bar until that tab opens and drop the text in a text field in that tab. You need to make sure that that text area is visible because you can't scroll the page. You can also tear off that tab (temporarily) to a new window and resize them to see both windows. Move the tab back to the other window once you are done if you prefer that.

Streaming two or more flv videos at the same time

Hi,
I am working on a site that is intended to stream two or more flv simultaneously. The slightly different header clip should renew on entry to each page.
When I publish the fla file it plays as intended. When I upload the swf file to the web only one of the videos are playing back.
It does not matter if I import the video to a timeline, or stream it progressively from the server. Both clips are uploaded.
I am using CS3 and AS3.

Running two stepper motors at the same time from one port

Hello,
I have to run two motors at the same time - one used to move a linear ball screw and one to turn a grip. I am doing tension and torsion testing on small wires, but tension and torsion have to be done at the same time. I also have to build in the ability for each motor to take multiple steps, ie. have a motor take x number steps at y velocity and then move x number of steps at z velocity. Both motors need to be able to do this. However, I am having problems getting the motors to run at the same time and to take all the steps. The motors are connected to two RMS Technologies R356 controllers. Both of the controllers are then connected to one RS485 to USB converter card, and that card is connected to one of the USB ports in the computer. Currently, I pass an array of commands to two for loops each containing VISA read and writes. I've attached the vi to look at. All of the timing stuff in the code is because a new command cannot be sent to the controller before the motor is done executing the previous command. If commands are sent right after one another, the controller will only execute the first command and then return with an error.
Does anyone have a suggestion as to what I am doing wrong?

I'm not too clear on exactly what you are trying to accomplish or some of the details.
Are there equal number of torsion and tension steps?
Is there a pairing between a torsion and tension? For example, you want to tension and torsion simultaneously, but those two together make a complete step?
Do you want to wait until both the torsion and tension have completed before moving on to the next torsion/tension pair?
Is there any time delay you want to hold at before moving on to the next step.
When working with state machines, it is important not only to define the states, but also the logical stepping from one state to the next, or alternatives based on conditions. It could be flowchard, but sometimes people call them state charts.
Right now your latest posting has goes to "Write to Motor" event though and will wait there forever because there is nothing in the queue to write out through the VISA port.
Let's assume your first state would happen to be Enqueue Tension (in order to get something in the queue), you will actually queue up all your tension commands at once with the For loop. Then i will be 1 less than the size of the array it always will be because for an array size n, i will go from 0 to n-1 on each iteration. So your false case will run and you will go to "Write to Motor". Write to Motor will run and dequeue the first command then go to Waiting for Response. Waiting for response will iterate through the while loop until 66 or 67 comes back. I assume only 66 will come back for tension since you have yet to write a torsion command. Once that comes back, it will go to Enqueue Tension again and insert a whole other series of commands. Then go back to write Motor and will take out the 2nd queue element from the first set of commands your wrote. It will stay in a Tension mode and the Queue will grow endlessly putting in a whole new series for each element that you dequeue.
A state machine is the way to go, but I can't really sketch one out for you because I'm not sure exactly how your applications is supposed to work. If a tension and torsion command are paired together, perhaps you should just queue them together and write them out at once. But the key thing is to sketch out on paper your application and flowchart exactly how the program should progress from step to step.
PS: One other thing, make sure you wire the queue reference wire through all states.

Can i access my library from two hard drives at the same time?

i have way too much music on my hard drive and would like to move some to my external drive and leave some on my local drive. that way when i'm writing papers at the cafe, i can access some music and when i'm at home, i can get it all. is this possible? if not, how should i deal with a 20 gig music file?

The best way to do this is to attach your eHD, then in your iTunes Preferences "Change Location" of your iTunes Music folder to the eHD; from then on all music you add will go to the eHD but what's on your HD will stay there, and iTunes will keep track of what is where.
Two things : when away from home, your eHD tracks will all have ! next to them as iTunes will not "see" them; also when you are at home, make sure the eHD is attached before you launch iTunes.
A second strategy is to move your entire iTunes Library to the eHD (read this article first : http://www.ilounge.com/index.php/articles/comments/moving-your-itunes-library-to -a-new-hard-drive). Then, on your Mac, launch iTunes with the Option key pressed down, then Create Library.. and set up a new Library with a subset of your favourite tracks you keep on your Mac. In future use the "launch iTunes with the Option key pressed down" trick, then Choose Library.., to switch between them.

Lion won't copy files to multiple external hard drives at the same time

I upgraded my OS to Lion receently and I've noticed a bit of odd 'bug'
I want to copy the same files/directories from my Mac to my 2 external USB hard drives, but I find that Lion only lets me copy the files one hard drive at a time and not simultaniously, whereas Leopard/ Snow Leopard would let copy the files over simultaniously.
Has anyone else noticed this and is there a fix? I'm a photographer so I need 2 backups of the photographs I take and it's really annyoing that I can't transfer files simultaniously.
I always use Lacie hard drives and I've also noticed the same thing with my WD hard drives. All of my externals have been indexed and at Mac formatted.
Any help would be apprecated.

By the way- I did create an Automator workflow to copy files to drives, and then I just use two copies of that workflow, and everything works fine. But I should just be able to drag and drop, this is not an elegant solution to a simple finder issue ...

Our company uses 1.4.2-b08 as default JRE, but some departments still have 1.3.1 as standard since business applications must use this version. We've tried migrating to 1.4.2 and 1.5.0 but they were not backwards compatible (or simply not JRE compliant programmed).
What I'd like to do is deploy 1.5.0 as 'default JRE' so that every website or intranetsite through IE6/Firefox is secure, and leave old JRE's on every workstation so that non-browser applications can still run.
Questions:
-if some applications run through a browser, is there a possibility through commandlines or startup options in a link or batchfile to use the non-default JRE?
-using a link that refers to the 1.4.2 or 1.3.1 java.exe (plus the other variables for the application to run of course, instead of simply java.exe without path/directory names), seems to work fine - but does it?
-with starting an old JRE through this commandline, do the libraries of the same the new/default JRE version get called on? I'm not sure whether Windows or the JRE first look in the environment settings of Windows XP, in the current path of java.exe and higher subdirectories or in the registry?

Can two iphone 4s be linked to the same itunes on one computer?

Me and My boyfriend both bought new iPhone 4s (this is my first iphone ever) ... We share a lap top and he travels frequently for business. We are both synced to the itunes from our lap top, so whenever i try to sync music from my sisters or mothers laptop it erases almost everything i purchased. How do I get that back and prevent that from happening? I would like to be able to use the itunes on my laptop and my moms! Please help.

iTunes is designed to only sync to a single computer and iTunes library. If you try and sync to another, as you have, you find it will delete all content from the phone and try and sync to the new library. You will need to decide which computer you want to sync to and use that one.

I have a Quicksilver, 733 mHz machine with 1g ram... the PROBLEM is that I have two identical 60 GB internal Maxtor HD's that have run wonderfully for many years... they just decided to tell Disk Utility that "this drive has reported a fatal hardware error to disk utility". And the S.M.A.R.T status is reported as failing- on BOTH drives. That is why I don't believe this... suffice to say, I backed up everything.
The only change that has occurred recently, is an upgrade to OS 10.4.10. In its current status, I cannont run first aid or reformat (which is what I was trying to do in the first place).
Any suggestions?

Alright, this thread is getting confusing! I am up and running again, though I am unable to start up at all on my main 17 inch apple studio display (old crt monitor). I switched to another old CRt (non-mac, and needs own external power) and it is starting up fine- faster than before actually. I went ahead and disconnected the disk without the operating system, and it didn't fix it, I then disconnected the disk with the operating system and this didn't fix it. I then reconnected both drives, took out the RAM and rebooted. Then shut down and restarted while clearing the PRAM. This didn't fix it. I then rebooted off of the restore/install disk and ran disk utility. It doesn't report any error messages and I am trying to run the repair. I will post the outcome.

Aperture has the ability to work with files in their existing location. They are called "referenced masters." When you import images, you should select the "In their current location" in the "Store Files:" drop down box. Have a read of the documentation for full specifics. Unsure how you can resolve your duplication; might be some work but next time have a read of the manual first
Information for versions is stored in the Aperture database (library file). The masters can be inside the library file itself, or they can be somewhere else.
