Can I extend my Apple Care?

My apple care is about 2.5 years old and is about to expire. Is there a way to extend Apple Care for 'X' number of years?

My college daughter was told by an Apple Representative at an Apple Store in Frisco, TX that she could renewed AppleCare after her three years were up. I told her this was wrong information and it is corroborated here and through the online documents. Please inform your staff at Apple Stores of the correct policy on renewing AppleCare.

For me? Buying from best buy was my only option since the closest apple store is over an hour away. (and technically in another state)
Also, when I bought my iPod the warranty that Best Buy offered was far more comprehensive than Apple Care with accidental damage protection for up to 3 years.
And, when my iPad's charging port messed up, I took it into Best Buy and they swapped me out for a new one while at an Apple store I likely would have gotten a refurb.
When I swapped out my iPod 4 for my iPod 5 I took it into best buy, got $70 towards the purchase of the new device by trading in the old one.
Best Buy isn't perfect and not every store is a good one, but they are a good alternative or other option to explore for those buying devices.
I think my biggest beef when buying my iPad and later iPod at Best Buy is when I bought my iPad I bought the screen protector and they wanted to charge me to apply it...and it kinda rankled for me to be plunking down over $600 dollars to have them want to charge me $15 for a screen protector install.

I bought a new MBP 15 and an extended apple care and i can't reach any phone number i've been given which is impossible to reach. The retailer said apple severs are down for weeks and nobody can register his/hers apple care. Is it really possible? Only AppleTV1 has an internal PATA drive. The largest PATA drive available is 250gb.
Hacks are available to use the USB port on AppleTV1 to access more storage.
AppleTV2 does not have an internal drive.
Why do you need more storage in your AppleTV? iTunes streams video to AppleTV so no need to store it locally.

The starting clock is actual date of purchase. And they do count all of the actual day even you bought it at 6 PM. And if you buy it online "purchase date" is when they process your card, not when you receive it.
Get AppleCare a week in advance to be sure all snafus in getting it activated will not push you beyond that first year.

While I don't know about the second hand machine consideration, Applecare needs to be bought during the first year while standard warranty coverage is in effect. Once that expires, you can't buy Applecare for a system.

You'll need to find a boxed retail version either at an Apple Store or online, but as long as you can find one, then yes, you can still register it and get coverage.

You sound really certain about this -- but Apple's current info page for AppleCare+ says "AppleCare+ must be purchased together with new covered equipment." (bottom of this page: http://www.apple.com/support/products/iphone.html )
And AppleCare isn't one of the "accessories" Verizon seems to let you order with the phone. So wouldn't this mean it's impossible to order it from Verizon and get AppleCare?

You can purchase AppleCare anytime within the first year of ownership. It does need to be registered before that standard one year warranty expires, so be sure to do that quickly after purchase.
You do not need to buy it direct from Apple and if you go somewhere else you can get it for less. LA Computer Company is a place that has it for $179 HERE. Others have bought it from eBay or just dug around at PriceWatch or PriceGrabber for a deal.

When I got my iPhone 4 nearly a year ago, I was told that I could purchase Apple Care at any point in the first year to extend the warranty an extra year, etc. I was planning to do that today (I couldn't take the financial hit before it became necessary at the year's end), but I see now that with the iPhone 4S has come AppleCare+, which much be pruchased within 30 days after your phone purchase. As I have an older model, I don't see how this should apply to me—30 days had already come and gone before they came out with this new policy! You cannot purchase the extended warranty after the end of the standard one year warranty. You might find other companies that offer limited forms of extended warranties such as those offered for used cars.
