Can I force App Store/iTunes to require CCV prior to purchasing?
As I have my credit card details saved in my Apple account, I'm worried that someone who has access to my iTunes or my iPhone will be able to make purchases using my credit card if I was recently logged in. Is it therefore possible to force Apple's App Store, iTunes Store AND Online Store to require credit card verification prior to permitting payment or should I just remove my credit card details?

I don't even have a App Store icon on the phone. Is there a setting that is screwed up?
First swipe to the Spotlight search facility on your iPhone and type App Store. Does the App store show in the list?
If not, have Restrictions been activated on your phone (Settings/General/Restrictions) and installing apps restricted/turned off?

Mountain Lion needs to be purchased via App Store, which forces you to use the local one for your country. Fair enough, could manage to do so, but after installing, App Store itself has now local languge GUI (Dutch), when I keep everything otherwise in English. Same goes for iTunes - GUI in Dutch when I want it in English. Darn!
Most annoying... I really hate mixing languages in my system - and so far been able to keep all neatly in English only.
Any clue if there's a way to change the GUI of App Store / iTunes to English - even if they then hook with the local selection of available stuff anyhow? I'm really not annoyed by forced local selections with both applications, only about the interface language itself.

AmsterMacAre you referring to the Customer Reviews? iTunes doesn't distinguish which language is used by the customer in writing the review so it can't filter out those you don't want to see. In fact someone could write one review and use many languages in it, but it seems those that speak German are the most vocal in the Swiss store.

if i factory reset my ipod touch(5th gen), can i reset it to the option 'set up as a new ipod', and then i can just go into the app store/itunes store and log into my apple ID so i can just restore my music and apps and not icloud with photos, contacts, ect. and then later i can add contacts that i need/want instead of them restoring them from icloud?
The reason i asked this question is because i have been wondering this a lot ever since i got an exchange on this ipod (and ive only had it for a few weeks now) because my last ipod had a lot of problems. so after i restored my ipod with my computer/itunes, i downloaded apps that i wanted, and then when i went to the storage to see how much storage was left, it said 0 bytes. i was freaking out because i didnt know how that could be, i mean, cause like, that is impossible when i just 'purchased' it, that the space was full but i looked and all my pictures were on this ipod and i already put them on my computer so i dont need them anymore thats why i wanna reset it now so there is nothing on it so i can have more space for stuff to do and download on it.
it is updated to iOS 8 but that happened when i purchased it, so i didnt have a choice to update it even though i didnt want to update to iOS 8...

-sierraHey Sierra, You can do just what you have stated. My question, what is your "other"? If it is over 1.5 GB you most likely have corrupt files. Doing a Restore to New, Factory restore should correct it. Just make sure you make a full backup of all information on your iPod to your computer before you restore, so you don't lose your stuff, contacts, videos, pictures, non-iTunes music, etc, use the cable and connect with your computer. Then, via cable, connect to your computer, run the Restore to new, don't use your backup. Treat this iPod as if it was your first one ever. When restore is done, set up and add what info you wish to install on this iPod. The music apps etc you purchased should be on your computer, if not you should be able to retrieve purchased apps and music from iTunes. Any music, videos, apps not purchased from iTunes will be lost to you if you do not save them to your computer or the cloud first. When your done, make a current Backup and you should good to go. No app store present on iPod Touch 4th gen and can't sync apps in iTunes, tried restoring/updating
I've tried everything I know to fix this problem with no luck so far, I'm hoping someone can help. Note that iTunes has been updated to the latest version (and my friend's computer is running Windows 7, if that helps at all).
My friend has an iPod Touch 4th generation. A while back he asked me to help him get apps onto the iPod, and I discovered that the App Store on the iPod itself was nowhere to be found, nor can he remember ever having one. In addition to this, he can't sync apps onto the iPod from within iTunes - the option to sync in the apps tab is greyed out. The music/movies/etc. sync just fine, however. At the time, his iPod had iOS 4.1.
After checking for parental restrictions in his iTunes and the iPod, I found that his iPod has a restrictions password set, which he doesn't know. His parents have no memory of setting restrictions and don't know the password, either.
I read online that the only way to remove the restrictions password is to restore the iPod, and since this seemed to be a good idea anyway due to the odd issue with iTunes refusing to sync apps, we restored the iPod and updated to iOS 5.1 today. Unfortunately, the App Store is still nowhere to be found, and we still can't sync apps in iTunes. The iPod still claims a restrictions password has been set as well.
I have checked and double-checked that no restrictions are set in iTunes preferences. My friend created a new iTunes account, so that shouldn't be the problem. While we're hoping to get both iTunes sync and the iPod App Store app working properly, right now he just wants to be able to get apps onto his iPod.
Does anyone have any ideas why his iPod didn't come with an App Store app, why it still doesn't have the Store after restoring, why iTunes won't sync apps, or why the restrictions password is still set after the restore? I've honestly run out of ideas as to how to fix this.
Before I posted this, I did a little more looking online about the restrictions password, which is apparently restored along with a backup. Neither of us were present during the restore (we had to leave for a couple of hours after the restore had been started), so I'm only asking this because I don't have his iPod or computer with me at the moment to test it myself - is there a way to manually cancel restoring from a backup during the process? If so, I need to restore the iPod a second time.
In the meantime, any ideas about my other three questions?

Can't connect to the App store, iTunes and software update with MBP 13

I have a MBP 13 from 2011 and I have a really annoying problem with connecting it to the App Store, iTunes and the software update. It claims that I have no internet/wifi/network, although I clearly have it since I am watching series through Netflix and are on Facebook at the same time. So naturally I started to look in to the firewall and it works fine, since it does not and has never blocked any other Apple products/programs. So I continued looking everywhere in the computer, found nothing. And finally I decided to re-install the MBP and I still cannot connect to neither of these programs.
I feel that it is really unnecessary to hand the MBP in for service for a problem like this, so I was wondering if there is someone out there who has a solution to this problem? Beacue , as I mentioned earlier, my internet/wifi is working perfectly with everything else, so I really do not understand why App Store, iTunes and the software update does not work.Hello there, Victoria Nisoho.

I am not able to access the "Settings" on my iPad 3. I just get a gray screen for about 30 seconds and then the app shuts down. I am also unable to access the App store, iTunes, or any app requiring an internet connection. Any thoughts?
First, try a system reset. It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears. You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore. Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset. Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync. From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod. Again, say "yes." -
I have updated my iphone 4s with ios6 and now im not able to connect to itunes store. I can open the apps store but cannot install any app? Anyone facing the same issue..
I have a 4S and upgraded to iOS 6 last week without any issues.

Itunes 11.4.0.18 crashing when clicking on app store
Itunes is getting crash when clicked on app store. I tried to get some information for this crash and got the above message in debugging mode. Please fix this if required but i am unable to open app store.Click here and follow the instructions to change the iTunes Store country.

Can not open App Store, messages, contacts, face time, contacts, photo booth etc... only safari, iTunes, mail can be opened.... help me.
Lanny here are the startup key sequences on wired keyboards to know for future reference:
SHIFT - safe boot.
command-S single user mode to run fsck
command-R to run a recovery boot.
command-option-P-R to reset the PRAM on Macs younger than 4 years, or whose PRAM battery is younger.
command-option-O-F to boot into open firmware.
D key to boot hardware test on an Intel Mac - for pre-July 20, 2011 Macs, this means having the original installer discs.
Option key - Startup Manager.
Option = Alt key on Windows keyboards.
Command key may be Windows key on Windows keyboards, or cloverleaf or Apple logo key on Apple keyboards.

I just bought an iphone4 and is connected to my wifi at home but I can't bring anything up in the app store, itunes, etc. My husband has a droid 2 and he has no problems with the wifi? Any ideas?
If you look at the top left of your screen you will either see a 3G (or 4G if you have AT&T) or you will see the wi-fi symbol. If you don't see the wi-fi symbol you are connecting to Gmail through your cellular data plan, not via wi-fi.
To answer your question, it doesn't happen often but when it does the steps I mentioned above will normally resolve it. Hopefully you won't have any further problem with this. -

Just connect the new iPod to your computer and setup the iPod via iTunes (instead of via wifi).

App Store is preinstalled and cannnot be removed from iOS so there is no need to download it. If you don't see it, check to be sure that restrictions are not.

I just carefully chose 30-35 apps to get rid of via iTunes, hoping it would sync to my devices, only to find I have to repeat the process on my iPad, take notes, then repeat it on my iPhone. It wasn't always so tedious was it?
Here's the "Help" I got from Apple. They even quoted my question back to me then proceeded to answer with something very different and completely missing the point.
I understand that you would like to delete the Apps. I know how eager you are to get the required information and I will be happy to assist you.
You can remove individual songs, audiobooks, and videos from your iPod, iPhone, or iPad. Removing an item from your device doesn't delete it from your iTunes library.
To remove items from a device other than an iPod shuffle, first make sure that iTunes is set up to manually manage items.
1. Connect your iPod, iPhone, or iPad to your computer.
2. When the iPod, iPhone, or iPad icon appears in iTunes, select it.
3. Unless your device is an iPod shuffle, click the Summary tab and make sure "Manually manage music and videos" or "Manually manage music" is selected.
4. If the disclosure triangle to the left of your iPod, iPhone, or iPad (below Devices) is closed, click the triangle so that you can see the device's contents.
5. Select the item you want to delete and press the Delete key.
This was not helpful in any way and I am still unable to delete apps on my devices in a global, iTunes based way. Each device still requires its own independent process.Match was off. I made all of the changes and then went through the "Turn on iTunes Match" option. I now have deleted some tracks, edited the Metadata in CDDA, and then added it back. This worked fine, but it is not a good solution.
I just tried making some edits and use the "Update iTunes Match" and that seemed to work. It looks like the real answer is that Match must be up and operational, then you can make changes and run the Update to incorporate the changes. However, if Match has a problem then Signing Out and back in to your store account and going through the process of Turning On Match (were you get the questions, "Add this Computer to Match" will overwrite any changes.
Since this relies on the stability of iTunes, I won't be making a lot of changes between updates. -

Thanks Apple Support. Problem was wifi related. Required forgetting the network resetting the router and re- establishing the connection. If anyone has the same symptoms. Apparently has happened before
