Can I get 3g ipad service that would work in both UK and France?

I have a 3G iPad 2.  I just returned from Canada, where I was able to buy a microSIM from a local Bell store, put it into the iPad, and then purchase a month's worth of 3G service.  It worked great, and was MUCH cheaper than using the AT&T international data roaming plan.  Now: I'm going to be in the UK and France in July, and would like to do the same sort of thing.  Ideally, I would do this once (in France, our first stop) and get a microSIM and service plan that would work in both France and the UK.  Is this possible, or would I have to do this twice -- once in France and once in the UK?  Orange offers service in both countries, but it's not clear to me that their service would work across country boundaries without becoming some sort of roaming thing.  Thanks!

You can't.  There is no such cable.

  • Can't get Desktop Software configured properly to work with Outlook 2007 and Blackberry 8703E

I have a Blackberry 8703E and I have Outlook 2007 on my laptop. I keep trying to install the Desktop software but don't know what option to choose, how to configure it to recognize Outlook, etc. My goal is to be able to sync my contacts, appointments, tasks, etc. between the laptop and my Blackberry. I have no clue what I am doing or how to install and configure the software to work.
Also, I am going to uninstall the Desktop software and want to know what the link is to download the most current version that will work with my phone and my laptop (running Vista). I do not subscribe to the Blackberry service but only want to sync between my computer and the phone.
PLEASE HELP! I am not knowledgeable in this stuff and any detailed instructions would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks a bunch!
    Wade Rearic

Don't know if you got your answer by now, but thought I'd try to help.
First, let me preface by saying I use Vista, not XP, but my Outlook is 2007.
Next, you need to be careful as to which versions of the software you use both (a) on your Blackberry desktop and (b) on your Blackberry itself.  For example, I use the 8703e via Verizon, but so far the phone's software only goes up to 4.2, which is two iterations short of Blackberry's latest smartphone software.  Why do they do this?  Because they typically introduce the new software via a new phone via an "exclusive" with a certain carrier, leaving all other users to either salivate or switch to the "exclusive" carrier.  Over time (6 months to a year) the "new" software may get rolled out to patient users with (by then) "older" phones, but they clearly want to incentivize consumers to just upgrade to new phones via special carriers.
As for the Desktop software, it is easy to get tripped up here, as Blackberry's download site in not very intuitive for this.  Your problem could be that you downloaded and installed a Blackberry Desktop Software that is too advanced a version for your phone.  (To add further confusion, the desktop software tends to have version numbers similar to the the phone software, such as "4.2.")
Bottom line: call your help number of your carrier to get the correct info for both sets of software for your phone.
Once all the right software/drivers are installed, the Desktop interface si fairly user-friendly.  From a few choices you can backup your Blackberry data; synchronize it (if you are not already doing that wirelessly), etc.
    Hope this helps.

  • Need a RAID that will work on both new and old Mac Pro

Desperately need to expand my RAID storage, and also not quite ready to buy the new Mac Pro.   Are there any high quality 6TB+ RAID enclosures that will work on both the new and older non-firebolt Mac Pros?  I already have a sh*t load of 2TB 3.5 drives, so I only need an enclosure.
Even when i get the new macpro, I will use the old mac pro as a second station, so i need the RAID to work on both.

Why not go for a eSATA Raid and a cheap eSATA card for old Mac Pro  and get either a Thunderbolt to eSATA or USB 3.0 to eSATA adapter for your new Mac Pro? Thunderbolt to eSATA is faster, of course.
I have a MacPower/Inxtron Hydra 4 x 2 TB eSata for example. I have a eSATA card in my Mac Pro and when I need to use it on my Retina Macbook Pro I use a USB 3.0 to eSATA adapter. Gives me about 240 MBytes/s with Raid 5.
On the eSATAcard it's just a little bit more, like 250/260 MBytes/s.

  • I have partitioned my time capsule, but I can't get it to work as a Time Machine back up and permanent media server for both mac and PC. What format do I need to partition the drive to so that it works for both mac and windows and so that it will be visab

I have partitioned my time capsule, as I want part of it to act as a media server for both mac and windows. However I don't know what format that I need to partition it to. I also can't make it a permanently accesible drive. I want to restore the drive to the original format (which I don't know) and start again and re-partition the drive in a format that can be used for media by both mac and PC and for time machine back-ups and make the media part of it permanetly accesible so I can add and acccess my files.
    Thanks

You are mixing up a couple of things here.
The TC drive cannot be partitioned without removing it.. did you do that?
If you partition it you must use a Mac disk utility and use the HFS+ ie standard Mac format. And GUID partition table not windows type.
You can select erase disk in the airport utility.. that will take the disk back to original format. No partitions. TC is deliberately not partitioned as it is not a media server.. it is a backup device for TM. Over time .. the disk will be filled with TM backups so you have a long history of file changes to your computer.
There is no media server in the TC.. it is merely disk storage.. you can serve files from it to a media device.. but the TC itself is dumb as dumb.
Now the actual format of the drive is irrelevant to the PC.. The TC offers SMB file services to the network. You can copy files to and from the TC as if it was a local disk without caring one iota about the format. The TC handles that .. it is not a local disk .. it is a network drive.
Although you cannot partition the TC. you can still copy files to it.. this does have implications for TM.. but as long as there is plenty of free space should not be a major issue.
You can create a disk image via the disk utility in a Mac.. and as stated you can create partitions if you do it on a Mac with the disk directly connected which means breaking warranty if any exists on the TC.

  • I'm using an older iMac G5 (PowerPC) with Firefox and MacOs 10.5.8. I no longer am able to watch video clips because Firefox recently auto-updated to 3.6.24; is there an older version of FireFox that would work with my PowerPC, and where do I find it

I used to be able to watch video clips off a streaming website, but it's been getting more difficult and now it no longer works. I suspect that my older Power PC G5 Mac is not compatible with the newer Firefox version of 3.6.24. I suspect that if I used an older version of Firefox with my system, I could get back to watching video clips. Would this work, and if so, where can I download an earler version of Firefox that would be compatible with my Mac and MacOs 10.5.8?

You might want to consider extending the lifespan of your G5 by using a different operating system. I put [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lubuntu Lubuntu] on a G5 recently and it runs the newest Firefox just fine. Lubuntu (pronounced Loo-boon-two) is sort of an Ubuntu lite - a user-friendly version of Linux. There are many applications to choose from, and it's all free.
The PowerPC I did this on was one of the old Bondi Blue ones. Firefox had no problem running on it at all and has all plug-ins needed for video, audio, etc.. I gave it to a church and it's running fine for them.
You can download old versions of Firefox, but you'll just open yourself up to security problems if you do.
FYI: The Mac operating system is built on Linux.

  • How do i format my usb drive so that it works with both mac and pc?

if you could please explain the process that would be extremly helpful...thanks!
    iMac 17"   Mac OS X (10.4.8)
    iMac 17"   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

Please search the discussions before posting. Your question has been asked and answered many times. It could save you time in the future.
Attach the drive to the PC and format it as FAT. Or use Disk Utility on the Mac and format it as "MS-DOS" which is in fact FAT.

  • I have an older ipod classic that is a 40gb & the usb cable will not fit into my usb port to my new computer, can i get a different one that will work?

CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME OUT WITH THIS IMMEDIATELY???

That font color is almost unreadable, please use another.
Your iPod Classic almost certainly is not USB, but FireWire
    USB
    FireWire
I know this because the USB (type A) socket has not changed since it came out and early iPods were FireWire, not USB>

  • Would it be possible that saved passwords would work on both http and https version of the same site as some pages are switching from http to https?

Some sites are switching from http to https protocols and some sites run both. This creates some duality when you have saved passwords. You either save passwords for both versions of the site. And if you visit the https version for the first time you just have to go and look up the password as (personally) I don't remember all of my passwords.
Would it be possible that unless there are different passwords for different version of the site that firefox would use the one that it has already saved?

You will have to save the password again in case the submit URL and possibly other parameters change.
    You can try this extension:
    * Saved Password Editor: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/saved-password-editor/

  • Programs that would work with Lumia 900 and an older Mac model (Mac HD)

Hi so like the title im trying to sync my lumia 900 with my very old Mac (Mac HD not lion etc..). Any ideas where I could buy/get the software?

Mac OS 8.6 won't run on a MacBook Pro.   If you are trying to sync with a Mac OS 8.6 machine, such software is really hard to find.  Try http://www.apple.com/usergroups/ to find if someone still has software for those machines in your neighborhood.

  • Alias-like file on a CD that'll work for both Mac and PC?

    Hello,
I want to write a data CD (using Toast 6) using the format "Mac & PC" that has an alias-like file as one of the files that points to another file also on the CD. And I want the alias-like file to work on a PC as well as a Mac. Possible? What? How?
    Thanks,
    John.

    Sorry for neglecting this thread.
I haven't tried any of the suggestions because 1) I'm not brilliant with the terminal and 2) I don't have a PC to try this on -- I was hoping to find a sure, reliable way of doing it without the need for testing it.
I don't know whether Toast picks up hardlinks correctly, one could try once and possibly be able to use it instead in step 3.
Are hard links and normal files not indistinguishable? In fact one in the same thing? Are normal files not a block of data with one hard link pointing to that data -- that's what files are I think. I could easily be wrong but I think that's the situation. If that's so then hard links will defininely work because files work. I think hard links are the most likely to work. And I reckon, if hard links are one in the same as files, then Toast should have no problem.
I can't test it though, and because I can't be sure, I'm probably just not going to do it -- burn the PC disk (for someone else) without any alias type file attempts.
Thanks very much for all the suggestions.
    John

  • Can QuickTime format a movie to work on both AppleTV and iPhone in 1 file?

Is there a way to convert something in Quicktime that will work on both AppleTV and the iPhone (or anywhere else for that matter)? Or, do I need to convert it in two separate formats and have both of those files in iTunes?
    Thanks in advance.

If you format it for the iPhone, it'll also work on the AppleTV. What you can't do is create a file using the high resolution mode of the AppleTV that will work on the iPhone.

  • When i tried to download iOS8 on my iPad Mini it told me that I needed to connect my iPad to iTunes, I have done that and now it says I need to restore my iPad. How can I get my iPad working without losing everything on my iPad?

When i tried to download iOS8 on my iPad Mini it told me that I needed to connect my iPad to iTunes, I have done that and now it says I need to restore my iPad. How can I get my iPad working without losing everything on my iPad? I don't want to lose my apps and photos!
    Help would be much appreciated!

If you are getting the connect to iTunes screen then it's too late to take a new backup and/or copy anything off it. Prior to starting the update did you take a backup, either to the cloud and/or to your computer's iTunes ? If not then have you recently taken a backup that might have your photos and apps content/settings in it ?
As long as the apps are still in your country's store then you should be able to redownload them via the Purchased tab in the App Store app (and the Purchased link under Quick Links on the right-hand side of the iTunes store homepage on your computer's iTunes), and if the apps store their content on a server/cloud service then you might be able to get their content back from that - if they store their content on the device then you will need to have a backup.
For our photos you could try doing a search for programs that claim to be able to recover content from a device - I haven't used any so I can't suggest one.

  • How can i get my Ipad to download videos that run on flash

how can I get my IPad to download videos that run on flash

    You don't.
Adobe does not make a flash player for ipad.
Do a forum search as this is discussed over and over and over and over and over again on these forums.
