Can I get a newer version of iTunes if operating on OS X v10.5.8?

Trying to get an iPhone 5 to talk to iTunes but it won't because I don't have the newest version.  I can't download the newest version because my 6 year old Mac is operating on OS X v10.5.8 which is apparently the newst version it will run.  Any solutions?  I am not going to by a new computer when this one works fine for what I use it for.

You would need an Intel model from 2006 or later and would need to install Snow Leopard.
Upgrading to Snow Leopard
You can purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard - Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mavericks if your computer meets the requirements.
     Snow Leopard General Requirements
       1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
       2. 1GB of memory
       3. 5GB of available disk space
       4. DVD drive for installation
       5. Some features require a compatible Internet service provider;
           fees may apply.
       6. Some features require Apple’s iCloud services; fees and
           terms apply.

I tried to install the new version of iTunes days ago. It seems like it's going to install and then it comes up with a dialog box that says "Apple Mobile Device" failed to start and to verify I have sufficient priveleges. I don't know what I need to do to get it to install.

  • How can I get the new version of iTunes to work like the old one?

When I upgraded to iTunes 11, the next time I synched to my iPods etc, many, if not most, of the favorite podcaststhat  I had saved in my library got deleted.  We are a Mac family and three of us download different podcasts to three different computers.  All our dealings (purchases) have been handled through a single Apple ID account.
Since the change to version 11, all the podcasts are jumbled together.  I want to subscribe to different podcasts than my wife or son, but our different computers are being treated as one.   I'll click to be a subscriber and my son will get the downloads, and vice versa.  What a mess!
Is the registry of all three units to a single Apple ID the source of the problem?

When you say "not possible," I assume you mean I can't get it to look like the old version.  When I wanted to update the different podcasts, I could hit refresh and select from those available.  That seems off the table.  And what's with the confusion between computers?

  • Can't get the new version of Itunes to install either autoupdate or manualy

I'm having a problem getting the new itunes to install through the apple update software, or doing it manually.
the Errors I'm getting are "Error writting to file C:\program files\common files\apple\mobile device suport\com.apple.ie.client resources .etc....(I'm just going by memory here. so it might not be toally in the right way.
Also I'm getting this error when I'm doing it manually (remember doing it by memory here) Error accourred while installing the updates if the problem persist go to tools -> download only.

Running XP Home edition and new iTunes 10.2.1 will not install for me either. Bonjour.msi is claimed to be missing even though I have tried manual download and install of Bonjour index. This seems a problem since 2008-2009 from Google search and was being cured with Windows Installer Cleanup that is no longer available for download to help this issue. Apple seems to say remove and reinstall but my system will not let me unistall either, even trying to use the proper order as outlined in this support area.
I know this is just a time bomb waiting to shut me and my phone down. Help? Someone
the Chkdsk had no result. My Safari also hangs up with no end about 3/4 thru. wanting tghe Bonjour.msi Tried in Add/ Delete Control Panel to restore Bonjour.msi with no result also. Anybody working Apple or just diddling with their phones?? and Pads>>>

  • I can't get the latest version of iTunes 12.0.1 for Windows (64-bit) to work on my laptop.

I can't get the latest version of iTunes 12.0.1 for Windows (64-bit) to work on my laptop. It says it has successfully downloaded and installed, but when I try to connect my new iPhone 6 to iTunes i get an error message 'need to install new software' but i thought i had! Please help me as i have had to connect my phone to someone else's mac and therefor don't have my music etc on my phone HELP!  I have had IT support at work trying to figure it out and no one can!

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

  • Can't install a new version of iTunes

I upragded my iPod, but now I can't install a new version of iTunes. Always when I'm trying to install it, it says I should write somekind of iTunes.msi path. So what should I do?
And sorry about my bad english

msi problems can usually be fixed with the Microsoft Installer Cleanup utility.
Unfortunately the Microsoft Installer Cleanup utility has been with drawn by Microsoft because of compatibility issues with Microsoft Office so you will need to find a copy elsewhere – the installer is msicuu2.exe. You need version 3.
    Google msicuu2.exe download
mydigitallife in the above search has a copy of version 3
Check for malware before installing it.
After installing, To run the program – All Programs>>Windows Install
If you get permission denied error, Try Run as Administrator – an option if you right click on the program.
Use the Cleanup Utility to remove any instances of the problem program, i.e. iTunes.
    Then try installing itunes.

  • I can't install the new version of iTunes or delete the old version

i have a new iTiouch and can't load the new version of iTunes. it downloaded fine but said installation failed because the "older version of apple software update" or something like that. so, i uninstalled and deleted (or thought i did) all the itunes programs i could find and still get the same error message. i can download but can't install the 9.0.2 iTunes because for some reason it thinks i still have an old version of iTunes. How can i get rid of the old version? thought i got rid of it all. i did a search for all files relating to itunes and apple and deleted them but some how it still thinks i have an "old version". i need the new version installed so i can use my new itouch. HELP!

it downloaded fine but said installation failed because the "older version of apple software update" or something like that.
Download and install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from Microsoft:
[Description of the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility|http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301]
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install CleanUp"). In the list of programs that appear in CleanUp, select any *Apple Software Update* entries and click "Remove".
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC, and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

Unless I'm missing something that article doesn't really tell you how to do it in the detail you need to perform the action.  It also omits essentials such as using your previous library so you can open the library.itl file which gets irreversibly updated once you open it with a newer version.

I can't get 10.6 version of Itunes to open?

Try following steps and test one at a time:
    1. Restart computer, right mouse click iTunes icon and select "Run As Administrator"
    2. If that does not work, check to see if this file APSDaemon.exe is the problem here.
    Close your iTunes.
Press Ctrl-Alt-Del key and choose Task Manager. In the "Processes" Tab, select the file APSDaemon.exe and click End Prosses button, then close the task manager window.
Now open itunes and see if it is working?
If that works, to prevent having to do the same process everytime you restart Windows, go to. START button, type in
    MSCONFIG
    Hit ENTER
Click STARTUP Tab, Uncheck "Apple Push", click OK.
    Restart Windows.
    3. If that fails or you don't see ApsDaemon.exe in the Processes, refer to following article to remove SC files:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2363
    4. If that fails, repair or reinstall your Quicktime. START / CONTROL PANEL / PROGRAMS N FEATURES / hightlight QUICKTIME and click REPAIR.

  • Where can I download a new version of iTunes for my Mac?

Where can I download a newer version of iTunes for my PowerBook? Please help thank you!

Ummm I'm not really sure to be honest here,But let me give you some backround of what happened. Basically my sister took my iPod touch (3rd generation I believe it is) and restored and updated the condition of it and made it up to date. When I tried to plug it in my PowerBook the iTunes thing came up and it said "the iPod cannot be used because it requires iTunes version 10.6.3 or later" and yeah that's all I got for you.
