Can i get a solaris 10 os simulator?

i will be grateful , if i can get a simulator, since i am new to solaris with no knowledge of unix, im only familiar with windows os

"You cannot get a Solaris simulator, but you can run Solaris under VMWare - which will allow you to "simulate" a Solaris-based computer.
This is often the method of choice if you have a brand-spanking-new laptop that cannot support Solaris directly, but can run it under a Virtual Machine image. Or you want to run several instances at once (if you have the memory!) Et cetera.
Coming from Windows, you will be in for a shock at first. Practically everything useful in Solaris is done on the command line. But that is also its power - a Solaris box can be fully configured and set up using nothing more than a serial console and network and/or install media."
VM ware is your best bet. Not only will you get a chance to experience Solaris. You will also be getting experience in a ground breaking technology. VM ware or Virtual PC is the wave of the future. This system allows you to run Multiple operating systems from one Machines. No longer must organization invest in expensive hardware to make their IT systems work. With virtualization You can purchase 1 machine and install multiple operating systems. the amount of operating systmes you can install on one machine is limited only by the resources available.
I'm also learning Solaris and I have taken the VMware route. The installation went smoothly. However I am now stuck on one part. hence my presence here.

  • Can you get a solar charger for the ipad 2?

Does anyone know if you can get a solar charger for an ipad 2?

There a few technical considerations to enable Ipad charging from PV's (solar cells)
    1. The output voltage must be no greater than 5.1vdc (max)
    2. The correct sensing resistors must be on the USB interface to turn on the charging circuitry just as in the iphone and Ipod.
    3. The output current must be high enough to actually charge the Ipad usually something greater than 800ma at
5.1vdc. Usually the greater the better, The Apple supplied chargers are 2 amps. The output is stated in direct sunlight so again the greater the better.
    4. The weight, physical and type PV must meet the needs of the user.

  • Solaris 10u6 fresh install - can't get Solaris Management Console working

    Hey guys,
I have been searching all over but can't seem to find any help on getting SMC working. I have a fresh install of Solaris 10u6 on a Sun Fire V20z.
So I login via ssh to the solaris machine ("unknown"), and It looks like wbem is online:
    root@unknown:/# svcs wbem
    STATE          STIME    FMRI
    online         16:37:50 svc:/application/management/wbem:default
root@unknown:/# And netstat shows that my machine is listening on port 898
    root@unknown:/# netstat -an|grep 898
    127.0.0.1.898              *.*                0      0 49152      0 LISTEN
    root@unknown:/# The problem is
    1)
When I try to do anything in the smc launched with as
smt -toption for terminal mode, I always end up getting the message:
There is no Solaris Management Console Server running on localhost.2)
If I login from my laptop with X11 forwarding on, and launch the graphical interface, it does come up with the main window that says "Solaris Management Console 2.1" and the "Open Toolbox" window. However, in the Open Toolbox window it says "Server Not Running"
I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, since svcs says that wbem is running... I'm pretty new to Solaris, working hard to get up to speed, so I'd really appreciate any help you guys could offer.
    Thanks,
    Jamie

For some reason it was able to run once by running the command
    # /etc/init.d/init.wbem start
But no matter what I do, I can't get it to work one lick with
    # svcadm enable wbem
    Any ideas guys?

  • Can one get OCP without previously passing OCA- Solaris 10

Looking at the requirements for getting the Solaris 10 Administrator certification, I wonder if I can get certified by passing the two required exams without sitting the OCA exam first. Beside passing CX-310-202 and CX-310-202 there's nothing else listed as a requirement. Solaris 10 certified admin is OCP level.
Do I have to get OCA first before getting OCP or regarding Solaris 10 I can go straight for the OCP level?
Sorry for the noob style, but I haven't been able to find any straightforward answer.

Based on the Solaris 10 Administrator certification path, which can be found at http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=328 , I would say that you need only the CX-310-200 and CX-310-202 exams to obtain the OCP cert. I don't see an OCA cert listed on that page and typically those cert pages list the full path from OCA to OCP and even OCM if one exists for that cert.
With most Oracle certs they force you to obtain the OCA level before going on to OCP and beyond. This exam, however, is one that is ported over from Sun. The FAQ page regarding Sun certifications (http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=82#6Q12C) states the following:
"Will the Sun certification tracks or requirements change?
Sun certification tracks will be modified to follow Oracle’s certification model: Associate, Professional, Master, and Expert. All changes to the Sun certification credential names, tracks, and requirements will be available on the Oracle Certification Program Web page. "
The closest thing I can see to an OCA version of an exam for this cert would be the Oracle Certified Associate, Oracle Solaris 10 Operating System (http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=327). However, on neither of the cert path pages for these exams do I see any connection between the two. Therefore, I don't think it would be a requirement, but I cannot state that with 100% certainty. Hopefully a forum mod can provide a more concrete answer.

  • Where can i get a simulator?

hi,i'm a newbie to Java Card..i'm studying JavaCard and
use OpenCard FrameWork to devlop java card applet, but it just begin, can anybody tell me where can i get a javacard simulator??or it already exists in JavaCard package or in OpenCard Framework??
    thx

There is a simulator provided with the Java Card kit. The JCWDE is a very relaxed environment and it runs the VM of the JDK installed on your machine. Because it's running the VM of the JDK and not the JCVM ( Java Card VM ) you can invoke other APIs with your applet, like System.out.println....
There is also an emulator provided with the Java Card kit, the C-REF. This is a JCVM simulator and is very strict. It will enforce rules that the JCWDE won't. You can also simulate EEPROM by saving your data to a file and loading it later.

  • 903/902/BC4J can't get data-sources.xml conn pooling to work in production; help

I have several BC4J ears deployed to a 903 instance of OC4J being configured as a standalone
instance. I've had this problem since I started deploying in development on 902. So it's
some basic problem that I've not mastered.
I can't get data-sources.xml managed connection pooling to actually pool conn's. I'm wanting
to declare my jndi jdbc source connection pool in j2ee/home/config/data-sources.xml.
Have all BC4J apps get conns from this JNDI JDBC pool. I've removed all data-sources.xml from my BC4J ears,
and published the jndi jdbc source in my oc4j common data-sources.xml. I've tested that this is
the place controlling the conn URL/login passwd by commenting it out of config/data-sources.xml
and my BC4J apps then throw exceptions, can't get conn.
I've set the oc4j startup cmd line with the BC4J property to enabled connection pooling:
    -Djbo.doconnectionpooling=true
    symptom
Connections are created and closed. Instead of being put back into the pool managed by oc4j,
what ever BC4J is doing or my data-sources.xml is doing, the connections are just being created and
    closed.
I can verify this via (solaris) lsof and netstat, where I see my oc4j instance under test load
with only 1 or 2 conns to the db box, and the ephemeral port is tumbling, meaning a new socket is
being opened for each conn. ;( grrrrrrr
Does anyone have a clue as to why this is happening?
    Thanks, curt
    my data-sources.xml
    <data-sources>
         <data-source
            class="com.evermind.sql.DriverManagerDataSource"
            connection-driver="oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver"
            ejb-location="jdbc/DEVDS"
            location="jdbc/DEVCoreDS"
            name="DEVDS"
            password="j2train"
            pooled-location="jdbc/DEVPooledDS"
            url="jdbc:oracle:thin:@10.2.1.30:1521:GDOC"
            username="jscribe"
            xa-location="jdbc/xa/DEVXADS"
            inactivity-timeout="300"
            max-connections="50"
            min-connections="40"
        />
    </data-sources>

I've run another test using local data-source.xml, that's packaged in the .ear. Still
    pooling under BC4J doesn't work??
A piece of info is that the 903 oc4j release notes states that global conn pooling doesn't
work. Infering that the j2ee/home/config/data-sources.xml data sources aren't pooled or ??
I just tested so called local connection pooling, where I edited the data-sources.xml that
gets packaged in the ear, to include the min/max params and re-ran my test.
Still, the AM creates a new conn, it's to a new socket, and closes the conn when done. Causing
each conn to not be pooled, rather opened then closed to the DB box. As verified with lsof and
netstat, checking the ephemeral port # on the DB box side, always changes, meaning it's a
new socket and not an old pooled conn socket.
    ???? What the heck??
Surely if the AM conn check out / return code works properly, OC4J's pooling JDBC driver would
pool and not close the socket??
Has anywone gotten JDBC Datasource connections in BC4J to actually be pooled under OC4J??
Since I couldn't get this to work in my early 902 oc4j testing, and now can't get it to work
    still under 903 OC4J, either it's my config or BC4J AM's code or OC4J?
Any thoughts on how to figure out what's not configed correctly or has a bug?
    Thanks, curt

  • Can't get rid of the # when adding text

I'm trying to edit a document in Indesign. I started by doing a Pre-Flight to correct errors and have one left I can't get rid of.
Originally the Text Error was for a font that ID could not find so I changed the font to what was already being used for other text - an included font - Charlamagne Std Regular
When trying to type text into a text box the type jumps to just above the text box where the pound sign (#) sits.
When entering type, even after positioning the curser inside the text box, it jumps the text to right before the pound sign, on top of the text box, and adds a pink box under the text.
I have attached a screen shot to show this. How to I get rid of the pound sign and pink box to be able to simply type some text in the text box (that the pink box is in)? Thanks!

@dkg62 – to make clear what's going on, select the text frame and show us another screenshot.
There are at least four cases where you can get a text like that. All cases imply, that the font you'd like to use is missing. I simulated this by formatting text with a font weight that is not available by a character style.
    1. The most likely case: There is baseline shift applied; here in my case 9pt.
All other cases are academical, because the pink highlighting is aligned with the text:
    2. Text frame options, baseline set to a fixed value (zero in this case)
    3. Text on path and the text frame options (baseline) is just the standard default. You can see a second #-end of story sign inside the text frame.
    4. Text on path and the text frame options (baseline) is set to fixed (zero in this case). The second #-sign inside the text frame is shifted above because of the fixed value of the baseline option of the text frame options. And obscured by the pink highlighting.

  • Installed Windows 7 on my IMac, now I can't get Apple OS to work

Installed Windows 7 on my IMac, now I can't get Apple OS to work, I have tried booting with Snow Leopard disc in and nothing works. I had trouble from the start but now nothing works except Windows 7, sound wont work etc. etc.

I originally tried installing Widows 7 so I could run my Flight Simulator X on the IMac I got from my daughter and I used BootCamp and had partitioned it at about 4GB for windows and the first thing I got was I had to put a bootable disc in and neither the windows 7 or Snow Leopard would work. Then I got Windows 7 to work but I can't get Snow Leopard to run, when I put the disc in it says that it not supported. Of course windows wont show me anyother areas of the disc that I could try to get to, the other side of the partition I guess. I have tried holding the C key down on reboot and that doesn't work. I hope this gives you a little more insight as to what is going on. Thanks Bill

  • Can't get past  export eligibility with mozilla or netscape 7

So that we may better diagnose DOWNLOAD problems, please provide the following information.
    - Server name
    - Filename
    - Date/Time
    - Browser + Version
    - O/S + Version
    - Error Msg
I've tried using both Netscape 7 and Mozilla 1.1 on NT 4.0 SP6a. With both browsers the same thing happens, I get to http://technet.oracle.com/software/htdocs/devlic.html?/software/products/oracle9i/htdocs/winsoft.html, I check all the Export Export Restrictions checkboxes and click the I Accept button and I get taken directly back to the same page. Latest time I tested this was 1:54 PM CST 11/4/2002.
I don't know if this is a known problem or not.

I can't download Oracle 9i Enterprise Edition for
Solaris 32 or 64 bit. After filling out the Export
form and accepting the OTN license terms, I briefly
see the download page but the browser immediately
returns to the Export eligibility form. I have tried
multiple times, with both netscape and IE - same
result. Could you please fix this. Thanks. I am having the same problem, using IE 6.0.2600 on Windows XP sp1. I get to the export agreement page, but even after clicking all the radio boxes I get the "Sorry" page when I click the "I Agree" button. No matter what I've tried, I can't get around this. I have my machine behind a home router (cable modem), but I had no problems with this same setup last fall when I downloaded 9i. I'm trying to download the developer suite, but I get this same error no matter what I try ot download. Any help would be appreciated.

  • Server can't get to internet

    File server:
    SunFire X4140
    OpenSolaris
    SunOS 5.11 svn_111b
    Hi,
I'm new to sysadmin, and very new to solaris. Any help would be very much appreciated - I'm trying to get a file server back on the internet that a couple dozen people are waiting for! It's part of a small ad hoc cluster in a rack. It had been working fine every since I started to take care of things part-time 6 months ago. The other day it just dropped off the internet. Then, when I tried a console GUI login at that point it froze up (the GUI, at least). I had to use the serial management port to do a graceful reboot.
There is an external switch to which all servers are connected, and a local switch used by several (but not all) of the servers in the rack with the file server. I've inherited this system and am unsure of the full rationale of the local switch, but imagine it's for faster local file transfer.
Other servers in the rack are online, BUT they're running linux variants. The file server runs opensolaris to be able to use zfs. There's another opensolaris server in the rack but it's stuck booting up kubuntu, looking for an NFS mount and I can't get it to skip the mount - haven't focused on this b/c it's non-essential.
The file server system (see above) boots and I can login, but cannot get online. I get these errors at boot:
    1) The 'opensolaris' graphical boot screen (with the moving orange progress bar) seems to hang. After several minutes I hit return to enter CLI mode. At that point I see errors 2 and 3. I can login.
    2) WARNING: /pci@0,0/pci10de,cb84@2 (ohci0): Connecting device on port 2 failed
I'm not sure if this is the built-in NIC's, or built-in rear USB ports - or something else. Haven't been able to determine for sure. The rear USB ports don't seem to be working - I have to plug the keyboard into the front usb port to get it to work, so maybe it's the usb.
    3) in.ndpd[429]: interface nge[0|1|2|3] has been removed from the kernel. in.ndpd will no longer use it
The server has 4 built-in ethernet ports, no others. There are three ethernet cables plugged in - two for the external switch, one for the internal switch. The error for a given interface is only generated when there is a cable plugged into the port, and regardless of whether it goes to local or external switch. Then it repeats the error every minute for 2 of the 3 cables - haven't found a pattern as to which.
If I connect only one cable, either to internal or external switch, I don't get this error. But, I still don't IPv4 address, see below.
    "ifconfig -a" output (transcribed)
(cables are plugged into ports 1,2 and 3 (as labeled on the hardware) but not 0):

There might be some eventual replies to your inquiry, but you may need to realize that an online forum is the worst place to hope for help for business-critical issues. The anonymous nature of such a forum is that there is no obligation that there ever be a reply and there is no guarantee that replies are correct for your issue.
Such a system as you have described needs to be on a support contract (even though OpenSolaris isn't a supportable OS -- it's a discontinued Open Source experiment ). You need to use your support contract to contact Technical Support and open a Service Request to figure out why you have no IPV4 IP addresses, nor any current IPV6 IP addresses.
