Can i get better upload speeds

Hi was looking for advice on my speeds for my Xbox one connection . The recommended speeds for Xbox one online gaming are 5mgb download 0.5 upload my download speed is fine but upload is struggling at 0.35 and I am struggling with connection issues on my games when playing online and I am using wired and have done port forwarding also . Was wondering if I can get a smoother online experience as fibre or infinity are not available in my area yet thanks

If it's slow on startup it would be extensions loading or LaunchDaemons starting up.
You should have a look in:
    /Library/LaunchDaemons
    /Library/Extensions
You can count out anything in your home folder and it shouldn't put anything in /System as that's reserved for Apple.

  • Better upload speed than download?

Ok just got it installed, it keeps dropping in and out but I wont raise a fault until the 10 day mark is passed.
I've done the old Speedtest when it does connect and it gives the following results pretty consistantly.
    Ping 53ms
    Download 0.136m
    Upload 0.326m
I live a long way from the exchange and the last 2 miles are on overhead cables, so I know I am never going to get any decent speeds, I got it the Infinity box is installed  a lot nearer but hasn't been turned on.
Any ideas why better upload than down?
    Ta.

confusing but I think you are not on infinity but adsl broadband.
please can you post the adsl stats from your router may need to 'show detail' to get all stats (if hub enter 192.168.1.254 in your browser and navigate to adsl or use a-z, if netgear enter 192.168.0.1) and run btspeedtester (MAC users may have problems) http://speedtester.bt.com and post the results .
Someone may then be able to offer help/assistance/suggestions to your problem

  • RSSI... can i get better than -80 dBm ???

i would like to know if i should be able to get better than RSSI = -80 dBm (signal strength)... i have four bars (usb ec168 modem) whenever verizon is running at it's best here in northeast oklahoma... a former alltel region... my understanding is that RSSI = -80 dBm is the level that is described as "good enough for Rev A / evdo"...
in my research of this subject googling all over... i find that some people will get RSSI in the 70s and 60s... lower being better / stronger signal... can someone tell me why i cannot get these kinds of levels since i often have four bars showing 90-100% ???
when my RSSI drops to less than -80 dBm... higher values such as -85, etc... this is when my evdo drops to 1xrtt and even DO...
appreciate any enlightenment on this subject... thx!
*obviously, verizon (if you are listening...), since i am paying for 3g broadband... i would like to have 3g broadband, rather than the 1xrtt and DO that happens so very often, evenings, during the week!

Understood.  Actually, if you mean the towers are neither VZ or Alltel because the carrier name is not listed, it won't be.  Your service may not be from a tower per se either.  If there are antennas in the area, that may be where your signal is from.
The towers are listed by the owner and the carriers  lease space on them along with the antennas.  The sure way to tell is to use your cell phone if you have a VZ phone and do a field test with it since you have a desktop and cannot move it about.  The closer you get to the "site" of your signal source, the stronger your signal.  evdoforums.com can assist with a list of codes for each brand of cell or smartphone to help you determine this.  I also have this if you may need.
Actually, -80dbm is not a bad signal and from my experience, a small percentage get better than that.  The best possible is -50.
I wonder why this is even an issue since you have not reported any problem with speeds, connection or any problems that may be associated with the signal strength.  If there truly are only 3 towers and no antennas in your area then the reason is more than likely due to congestion.
I have also discovered that the signals, connections, etc. are all improving and doing an update for your PRL if that is possible through your software may just be the fix.
However, if you are insistant on spending money on antennas and/or amps, etc. when the signa isn't anywhere near abnormal, that is your choice.  Keep this in mind if you do, you may not have a gain in more than 10 dbm if you have any at all.
So have a great day and good luck.

  • How can I get better video quality using my appleTV

I have an appleTV (1st) and I want to get better quality from youtube videos, What should I do ?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
YouTube video does not come from the main YouTube site, it is specially encoded for the Apple TV and other devices that don't play flash. Generally quality is fixed with no way to adjust it and is often restricted by the quality of the video that has been uploaded.

  • How can I get better looking slow mo??

Right now when I retime my vdieos in fcpX the movement gets blurred and looks like sh** its really annoying. How can i get my videos slowed down without losing the sharpness, and by getting rid of the motion blur?? CHEERS!!

Getting good, or great results depends quite a lot on your source video.
Use a tripod, not hand held. (or attached to your surf board)
    Use progressive.
Shoot 60p fps and conform it to either 30 or 24 fps. (50% or 40%)
Shoot with a high shutter speed, at least double your frame rate.
Try not to pan, a moving subject with a moving background is more difficult to slow down.
Optical flow can improve things, but that depends a lot on what you're trying to slow down. Products like Twixtor have much more control than FCP X's optical flow option, but I don't think they have a plug-in for FCP X.
Some of the best examples you'll see on the web (really slow stuff like 10%) are typically shot with a DSLR, on a tripod, really high shutter speed and only one moving object. (person flying off a skate board)
If you don't have the option to control what and how the video is shot, then you really won't get very good results. I would suggest only slowing it down 50%, or conform from 60 to 30. But if it's interlaced, then you really only have 30 frames to work with. (or 60 fields)

It depends on the connection Keith. When I was switched over to 21CN, my connection initially synced at 19759Kbps with the 6dB profile. However when the DLM tryed my connection on the 3dB Profile, it jumped up to 22111Kbps. That's over a 2 meg jump in speed which to some would make the difference. That would be a fifth more sync speed for mshaw43488 if it increased by 2 Meg.
Looking at mshaw43488's connection, I think I'd have to agree with you on the errors bit.
The number of errors (FEC) which his connection has suffered in 17 minutes is about the maximum of what I'd tolerate on my connection if it had interleaving enabled.
Mshaw43488, What I would suggest is to leave your connection synced for about 10 days and post back your stats after that so we can see how many errors have occured in a 10 day period.
Obviously the 3dB profile is your choice but depending on the errors in that 10 day period would depend on whether it is recommended or not as a 3dB profile can really cause your connection to suffer in reliability and performance if it can't handle it.
Only reason I recommend this is because sometimes a bulk load of errors can occur when the modem initially syncs which *may* be what has been recorded.
Also the DLM has you on Interleaving judging by the FEC errors which may be another reason not to lower the SNR.

  • Get Better Internet Speed

I'm 14,000ft. from the sub-station with old small gauge wire so I can only get three mbps down and .7 mbps up slow speeds.
Friends in Los Alamitos got FIOS five years ago.  In Naples, Long Beach four years ago.  We are directly inland ten miles from them and saw the fiber optics wire draped on the pnone lines three years ago.  Now we find out that they leapfrogged us to give St. John Bosco school (three blocks more inland from us) FIOS.
    What are we??? POO FOLKS?????
I think they are not looking out for anything more than their pocketbooks!!!!
So I say BOOOOOO on them and lets get some fast cable!

To my knowledge, they've been doing the same in my area. I wanted to order 7 years ago, and three years ago the Fiber appeared. Hasn't been put to use one bit. All of the schools around here use private connections, rather than FiOS so the fiber is not for them at all.

  • How can I get rid of speed download without the uninstaller?

Having trouble downloading, and reading that speed download could be the problem, I trashed it. The trouble is, I trashed the uninstaller along with everything else. Is there anyway to get rid of speed download? Safari quits when I try to download something, like a widget.

  • Can I get better time resolution than 1ms in labview?

    Hello,
I am trying to generate an external waveform which requires timing to be in the microsecond range, I was trying to use the wait function to define the timing dt but found that I could not get below 1 ms. I tried to specify timing in the microsecod range by overloading the wait function with a float (0.200) to represent 200 us but found behavior to be erratic. Again, I am trying to create a waveform for extenal hardware which does not support buffering and requires software to drive.
    Thanks!
    Joel Abdullah

"I am trying to create a waveform for extenal hardware which does not support buffering and requires software to drive."
Sorry but that simply can not be done in a Windows environment due to the limitaions of the OS (1KHz was "way-fast" when WIndows replaced DOS).
It can be done in a Real-Time OS like Pharlap for example.
Attempts to deterministically perform any operation at a rate faster than 1KHz in a non-deterministic OS can be best described as an "exercise in futility."
    Trying to help,
    Ben
    Note to Waldermar:
Timed loops can perform rather well at 1KHz or even better if you have a hardware clock available.

You can install v5 utility in Lion..
How to load 5.6 into later Lion & ML
    1. Download 5.6 for Lion.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1482
Click to open the dmg but do not attempt to install the pkg.. it won't work anyway.
Leave the package open on the desktop so you can see the file. AirportUtility56.pkg
    2. Download and install unpkg.
    http://www.timdoug.com/unpkg/
Run unpkg on the desktop.. If your Mac refuses to run the software, because it wasn’t downloaded from the Apple store, go to security in preferences and allow other software to work.. this is limitation of trade methinks. You can set back later if you like.
Now drag the AirPortUtility56.pkg file over to unpkg.. and it will create a new directory of the same name on the desktop.. in finder, open the new directory, drill down.. applications, utilities .. there lo and behold is Airport utility 5.6 .. drag it to your main utilities directory or just run it from current location.
You cannot uninstall version 6 (now 6.3 if you updated) so don't try.. and you cannot or should not run them both at the same time.. although I have had no problems when doing so.
But your AE must be v5 or earlier for this to work.
Exactly what Airport do you own??
And I am not sure it will fix the issue.

  • How can I get better reception?

I live on a farm on the edge of the Hampton Roads VA area (Norfolk, Newport News, Virginia Beach).  Customer service tells me I'm about 3 miles from the nearest cell tower.  The MiFi reception seems to work well enough, but since I work remotely half the time, I run out of GB's even though I'm on the largest plan right before the end of each billing month.  To avoid the outrageous over charges, I switch to using the hotspot function on my Droid for the last few days of each billing month.
The signal for that device is lousy and have a difficult time even staying connected.  Had to restart the hotspot 5 times to complete the registration here and write this post.
I don't have access to DSL or any cable services (if I did, I'd drop my Verizon Wireless non-voice services completely).
Does anyone know of or can suggest any way to boost signal for better service?  I have called customer service numerous times and they don't seem to either know or want to help.

Hello.  I have two suggestions that might help your situation.
Assuming you work indoors and that it degrading your signal, you could get a "booster" (no, not those cheesy stick-on things from TV).  I live in a "black hole" for cell reception and purchased a Wi-Ex Zboost signal amplifier.  There are different models and also other companies that make them.  Basicall it's an amplifier.  You put a foot-long tube on your roof (or probably in your case, you would need a directional antenna) and run coax into the area where your home office is.    Here is a link that should help.   http://www.wi-ex.com/solutions.aspx  You can get add-on antennas so you don't necessarily have to get the professional model.
The other suggestion, since you indicated a willingness to change providers, is to go with a satellite system.  Probably the most expensive system, but just another suggestion.
    Good luck.  Hope that helps.

  • BEFW11S4 Better upload speed that Download speed

    Hi All,
I have been suffering terrible speeds with BEFW11S4 of late and i am at the end of my tether to say the least
I am on Virgin Media 10mb connection and the router is used (Mainly) so i can FPS game on my machine and the wife can do the usual E-bay thing on her own machine.  When i direct connect the modem to my machine there are no speed issues at all.  So its the router basically imo
Both machines are hard wired to router and i have the wireless turned off as we dont require it.
Doing a speedtest the average results are as followed:
    237kb/s down
    327kb/s up
For a 10mb connection im sure you would agree that is disgraceful.  The firmware is up to date and there are no problematic software choking my connection.  I have a feeling that this router is dying a slow death, its well over 12 months old.  This is my second linksys router as the old one also died a death.
For my sanity could anybody please offer any feedback/suggestions etc.
If you require further information dont hesitate to ask.
    Kind Regards
    Scouse

The problem that you are having is probably related to the fact that you have a "two router" setup.
Your Motorola Surfboard 5100 is not a "cable modem", it is a "cable modem router" and, according to the documentation, it can support several users by itself.
Likewise the Linksys is a router.
When you chain together two home routers, you often start having trouble.  You would be much better off going to a one router setup.
Since you do not need wireless, the best solution to your problem is to remove the Linksys router and replace it with a switch, such as the Linksys SD208  (or SD205 or SD216).  Simply wire the ethernet port on your Motorola to any port on the SD208.  (The switch requires no configuration.  Just wire it up and go!)   The remaining 7 ports on the SD208 would all be available to plug in wired computers, printers, etc.  I think that this will solve all your "speed" problems.
This is also the hookup that Motorola recommends.  Look on page 41 of the user guide:
    http://broadband.motorola.com/consumers/products/SB5101/downloads/SB5101_UG_EN.pdf
The Motorola diagram on page 41 says you need a "crossover" cable, but the SD208 has "automatic sensing", so a regular ethernet cable will work fine.  Also, a switch is a better choice than a hub.
