Can I get BT Infinity in my appartment?

Last week work started on installing BT Infinity to our estate. I live in an appartment and the tubing that the fibre comes down was installed to the BT floor box just outside my appartment. Does anyone know if I'll be able to get BT Infinity living in an appartment? Also does it look like it will be Fibre to our BT floor box then copper wiring to the appartment? And what speeds could I get up to if this is the case?
Many Thanks
Derrick

Hi BuzzRog,
I should have said to use the address checker here https://www.btwholesale.com/includes/adsl/main.html .  Just enter your postcode.  If a DSLAM FTTC cabinet is installed or in the process of being installed in that postcode area then the DSLAM cabinet appears on the list of addresses within that postcode area.

I think Padstow is part of the BT project to bring high speed BB to Cornwall as money was made available from some european pot of gold and then BT added some more, got no timescales have a read on this link at the BBC.
It also explains fibre to the cab (FTTC) and fibre to the premises (FTTP)

  • Getting BT Infinity for my block of flats?

    Hi,
I have read a lot of post about people confused about why they can't get BT Infinity when their neighbours can. My question is similar but maybe a bit more specific.
So I live in Crystal Palace, London. My flat is part of a 1920's development (approximately 64 flats within 4 blocks) located away from the street.
All the other properties on my street and the next which it turns into can get 'BT Infinity' (this includes all the regular houses, a 1960's block and even the Church and local community hall opposite.
I have checked the 'Openreach' site as well as the 'FTTC checker' where you can find your nearest exchange and they all use the same as my address but we are the only ones that don't receive 'Fiber to the Cabinet'.
Is this a specific issue with my block of flat rather than the exchange and is it possible for my management company find out if there are any problems with the building like old wiring that needs to be updated etc?
I've exhaust the internet and this forum, so if anyone can add anything that would be much appreciated.
    Many thanks
    Tom

send an email to this address [email protected]
openreach will email you back but may take a weekor so and give you information on your line and if infinity will be available and estimated date
giving your phone number and cabinet number

  • How reliable is the "Can I get Infinity" checker?

    So here's a dilemma
We're looking to buy a house and think we've found the "one".
BT infinity tells us.. yes we can get infinity, 160mb! Or ADSL for 1mb.
I mean really that does sound too good to be true.. and I can just see it now, we move in all excited, have bought the house.. and it turns out we can only get 1mb broadband because the checker was wrong.
Is there any way you can know with 100% certainty that a house can get fiber, before moving in and getting a line installed? I need absolute certainty before putting an offer in, because 1mb adsl would be un-usable as I work from home.

    Doesn't look like it..
It's at the top of willen lake, and uses the bradwell exchange.

  • Our BT account is so old we can't get infinity! ne...

sorry if this is posted in the wrong place.
all we're looking to do is switch to BT infinity from the terribly slow aol we currently have, we currently use BT phone line so we have an account with BT.
in december (2012) we called to about changing to inifinity but they couldn't find our account, we have probably had this account for around 20 years now. finally many phone calls later they worked out what was wrong.. our account is so old there have been 3 new systems since then! and it appears than nobody working for BT is able to bring our account to the newest system so we can get BT infinity!!
over the last 6 months they have told us only certain people can transfer our account, these people never appear to work as everytime we call they happen to not be in.. nobody even had contact numbers for these misterious people.
a couple people we spoke to said they will definitly look into it and get it sorted for us and will contact us in the next few days.. we hear nothing as usual.
it seems impossible to get anywhere as we can only ever talk to sales teams or custom services, none of whom have been trained to sort out problems like this, people higher up need to sort this out - this was their words.
it's getting seriously frustrating now as it seems nobody cares about sorting this out because we never hear back from them! need someone to take this higher up
    someone please help!

  • I can not get the right frequency out of my NI-DAQ 6062E card from Matlab

    Hi.
My name is Johan and I want to generate an analog square waveform with 5.76 kb/s in frequency with my NI DAQCard-6062E from Matlab.
When I run in Matlab the program below, I get the frequency of 5.747 kb/s on the output channel (even thou I have chosen 5.76 kb/s). When I try to change the sample rate, to higher values in Matlab, I get the same frequency until I choose the sample rate to 5.79 kb/s. The output signal is in that case is 5.813 kb/s.
So my problem is that I can't get the exact frequency of 5.76 kb/s.
    How do I solve this.
    Thankful for help.
    Best regards, Johan
    Program in Matlab:
    clear all
openDAQ=daqfind; %Detect any open DAQ channels
for i=1:length(openDAQ), %Close any open DAQ channels
      stop(openDAQ(i));
    end
ao = analogoutput('nidaq',1); %Create an object for analog output
    addchannel(ao, [0 1]);
set(ao, 'SampleRate', 2*5760); %Here the sample rate is specied. 2*, because to get right samplerate
    y=[80,-80] %Sets theoutput values to 80 and -80 (As -1 and 1)
    putdata(ao, [y' y']); %Sends the values to out buffer
    set(ao,'RepeatOutput',inf) %Repeats sending in infinity
set(ao, 'TriggerType', 'Immediate'); %Choose trigger to immediate, because sending values shall occur driect after start command.
    start(ao);
    %stop(ao)

    Bad news I am afraid….

  • Can't get it

I thought this would be great for my sport loving sons but we can't get it. We are on a local aerial and iIhave been told that if we could be switched to the bigger Mendip aerial it would work but I am not so sure. I don't want to have added expense if it doesn't work. We are a distance away from the local echange and don't have fibre optic and nor infinity.
    Any help please?

If you enter your postcode into this site http://www.ukfree.tv/transmittersmenu.php it should show you all the transmitters in your area.  Clicking on one of the transmitters will show its estimated coverage.  The brown transmitters only have limited coverage, and the red ones carry all the channels.
If it looks like you are in the area of a red transmitter, you would need a local aerial installer to adjust your aerial to point at the new transmitter.  It may well also need a bigger aerial installed.
Don't forget you can also get BT Sport free over the broadband, either on a PC, or a compatible mobile device.

  • Broadband BT can't process my Infinity order

I finally had my phone installed on the 22nd Jan 13 the Engineer said that I would be able to get BT infinity I was really pleased. I immediately placed my Infinity order online, received the message that someone would contact me within 48 hours,  I phoned on the 24th to be told BT could not process the order as it was a new line and it may not be showing yet call back tomorrow, I phoned as instructed but still no luck, they would send an e-mail about the error and it would take two days to resolve, I phoned back two days later, BT could not find my order and suggested I start a new order, which I did but 48 hours later I phoned back BT still can't process the order, this happened twice more, On the 28th I called again to be told they had again sent another request to Open reach to look at the fault but it would take up to 5 days. I called back on Wednesday 5th this time spoke with a Manager who said the error was still open on my account and to give it a couple more days. I phoned tonight and spoke to an Adviser who first suggested I place a new order which I refused to do, then went to speak with his Manager came back and said that he had again reported the error and could I wait another five days. This is like Groundhog day. I do not know what the fault. The phone that BT installed works perfectly. What frustrates me more than anything is not having a case worker to take ownership of the problem and keep me updated. I keep phoning in only to start all over again. I was also told no other provider would be able to give me Broadband at this time. Can anybody tell me what the problem is?

If you would like to contact one of the UK based BT Care Team who moderate this forum, they should be able to help you.
They can be contacted using this link BT Care Team
They normally respond by phone or e-mail, within three working days, however you should get an immediate confirmation, with a tracking number.

  • Showing as connected to the internet but can't get...

    Hi,
This is my first post so apologies in advance if I'm using this incorrectly!
I have BT Infinity and have had very few problems since getting it but for the last few days I have been unable to get online. I've called BT a few times and it is showing that I'm connected to the internet so they felt it may be an issue with the Home Hub so are sending me another. In the meantime I have bought another router and connected this to the modem etc and it is showing as being connected to the internet but I still am unable to get online. This is both when connected via an Ethernet cable or wirelessly and is the same across all devices (pc, ipad, iPhone etc). As I say, it is showing as connected to the internet but I can't get online at all. I can via BT Openzone so I know my various devices are working.
I am almost certain the new Home Hub will not help. It's driving me mad. Any suggestions?
    Thanks in advance.

If as you say,you have tried the HH and other routers, and have reset and rewired the connections to the OR modem with no joy, then it leaves only 2 possible causes.
1)The RJ11 cable from the OR modem to the master socket might be faulty.
2)But it is most likely to be a fault in the line from the master to the cabinet,or a very noisy line.
You might need an engineer visit to check at the cab or the line.
Your local network seems to be in order,as it is indicating a network connection, but if the line is faulty to the cab, then you would not be able to get a stable connection,or no internet.

  • I can't get the BTSports app

"You do not have BT Sport on this account yet. If you have recently placed an order for BT Sport, please bear with us as we update our records, you will be able to watch online soon. If you haven't ordered BT Sport yet, find out how to get it below."
    "Sorry...
There's been a technical error – but you can still place your order online.

To order a new phone line, click here

I have searched for the error code and found nothing. Phoned and waited half an hour and no progress. I have Infinity 2, and only subscribed for BT Sport and still can't get it 10 days later ! Is anyone at BT listening?????

I'm having this problem too! If I try to activate the Player app ordering process, it checks my details and throws up a "Sorry...." screen saying there is a technical error. If I try the second option at the start , I can manually input my BT account number and postcode....get the same checking screen, it then tells me I have no BT Broadband on my line.....what a load of **bleep**!!!! Been an option 3 customer for years!!  I've tried all the so called solutions that have been posted on this forum.....not one of them works.
*****Most worrying of all though, when I updated my phone number for the upteenth time on the My BT area and got back to the My profile page, somebody elses account details were on full display... A different, completely unrelated BT customers' telephone number, account number, and their personal product options!!! Disgraceful!!! No data security at all!!! Next stop is Watchdog I think!!! ******

  • BT Youview box bought privately, can you get bt sp...

Hi Guys, I have bought a bt youview box for the parents through john Lewis for Christmas and was wondering as they're bt infinity customers can they get the bt sport etc channels? If so how? Or did they need to get it through bt directly?
    Thanks

You need to pay for BTTV to get BT Sport on your own box. Even then you will have to be persistent with the call Centre people when you register, as they often tell you that you cannot have it on your own box. They are wrong. You can. My daughter works for YouView.

  • 9 days since install and can't get beyond 12000 Kb...

Had Infinity installed 9 days ago and seen the IP profile increase in that time to 38399 Kbps, but I can never get beyond 12000 Kbps as a best speed check.
The acceptable range is meant to be 12000 - 38399 Kbps - so what is going wrong?

Well after suffering slow speeds for 2 months I know quite a lot can go wrong
I may as well ask the stupid questions (well someones got to)
are you using a wired connection when speedtesting ?
do you have bt vision ?
is anything else connected while running the tests ?
are you getting the slow speeds at all times of the day, or only at night ?
Once you've covered the basics contact the mods here.

Post the results from your BT speedtest, that'll confirm your profile and poor speeds.
Continue to take BT speedtests when your speeds low, as these are logged with BT Wholesale
And keep a log of all your BT speedtester results yourself,

  • Can't get BT Sport. But can get a channel telling ...

Increasingly starting to believe that BT has spent an awful lot of money to convince me that I'd be better off with Sky.
As a long-standing BT customer, when BT Sport was announced I thought great.  I had a full BT package of telephone, broadband and TV, which I was reasonably happy with.  When I last went out of contract I was persuaded to upgrade to a YouView box, partly to get access to HD channels.  I'm not a massive sports fan, but I'll watch football if it's on, and I'd probably be more interested in the rugby.
So, because I have a YouView box rather than a BT Vision box, but I can't get Infinity, no BT Sport on the telly for me.  This was despite mixed messages, including an operator who "thought" I should get it.  Could I get the app or on the web?  I tried that; but it didn't work.  When I asked the online chat support I got told they couldn't help (I kid you not). I spent fourty minutes on the phone, eventually being put through to the "exceptions" team who fixed whatever fault there was on my account.
The web service is patchy at best. In the last few weeks our broadband has become increasingly irrational - resetting at random. So watching anything for more than five minutes it pretty impossible.
i'd love to have Inifinity, but despite living on a new estate in the centre of a major town just outside London, we'd don't have Infiniity and no clear idea if/when it will arrive.
No-one has been able to explain why because I have one box rather than another, I can't get BT Sport. But to add insult to injury, flicking through the channels yesterday I discovered that because I can't get BT Sport, I get a channel (57) that is a constant advert encouraging me to get BT Sport.  Talk about rubbing it your face!
Seriously, I genuinely can not imagine Sky ever managing quite this magnitude of annoying their existing customers!

  • BT Sport for BT Broadband customers who can't get ...

My download speed is around 5.75Mbps and I am an existing customer with YouView.  My exchange is showing as enabled for copper multicast.
When I attempt to do an online order for BT Sport (for BT Broadband customers who can't get Infinity), I get the following message:
"Unfortunately, BT Sport on BT TV is not available in your area. The good news is you can still continue to watch via App and Online player which you already have access for."
Any thoughts as to the reason for this?  Could it be because the ADSL checker shows I should get 3Mbps where I actually get 5.75Mbps?

If it makes any difference, I can successfully view the multicast test channel on a computer (rtp://234.81.130.4:5802).

  • I am having macbook air recently my iphotos did not open and was showing report apple and reopen but i came to know that by pressing alt and iphotos i open an new photo library and stored the pics but now how can i get the pics which i had in the earlier

i am having macbook air recently my iphotos did not open and was showing report apple and reopen but i came to know that by pressing alt and iphotos i open an new photo library and stored the pics but now how can i get the pics which i had in the earlier photo please help me to recover my photos

    Well I'll guess you're using iPhoto 11:
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.
    Regards
    TD
