First of all I find it absolutely amazing that you have managed to get 3 bad iPods. Where are you buying them from?
Secondly if you have had such abysmally like that with 5g, what make you think your luck with the 4g will be better?
Thirdly, how important is iOS 7 to you. If you don't have need of apps that require it then you should be OK. Having said that I have seen reports that state that developers are finding it to be so much better that more apps will be migrating to it and dropping the older version of iOS.

ONLY the ipod touch has the neccessary hardware to run ios 7. No other ipod will evert get it.
The 4th gen ipod touch is over 3 years old and has recieved two major updates - ios 5 and ios 6. After three years, it can no longer support the newest software.
There is nothing odd or unusual about this at all.

Can't get my g5 power mac to install iTunes 10.7 and link iphone5

I have a power mac G5 and its about 7 years old now, it's worked fine before updating iTunes but now I can't get it higher than iTunes 10.3, I recently bought a iPhone 5 thinking it would link no problem as I only use G5 for iTunes and my previous iphone4, is there no way of linking iphone5 or updating to iTunes 10.7? I don't understand why you need a powerful mac to run itunes10.7- another money making scheme from apple it seems!? Please help

iTunes 10.7 requires an Intel-based Mac and Mac OS X 10.6.8 or later, both requirements being listed clearly in the system requirements for the iPhone 5. Sorry, but you will not be able to sync your iPhone 5 to your PowerMac. It has nothing to do with computing power but rather with Apple's certain disinterest in supporting a computer platform they discontinued years ago.

Wow, just posting and it seems that there is a solution that is working for me...
What I've did is I turned off iTunes Match on my iPhone, then turned in on again. Now in my iTunes library on my mac I can get the duplicates to be matched or uploaded to iCloud with a right-click, add to iCloud. iTunes Match starts to check the songs and everything is done correctly. Pretty nice!
