Can I get my MBP's history online?

Several years ago, I purchased a MBP from an Apple store. However, as these things sometimes happen, I had a few problems. One had to do with either my hard drive or my optical drive (I don't remember which one), and the bad hardware was replaced through the Genius Bar. Now, however, both my hard drive and my optical drive are failing (my AppleCare is long-expired) and I am unable to find the invoice for the repair.
Plus, to add insult to injury, when I took my MBP to the Apple Store, *they were unable to locate any record of the original work order*. For reasons I'll not go into here, I suspect this lack of adequate record keeping may be systemic, but that's beside the point.
The point is that I know the work was done, and was wondering where else I could check to find information on that earlier repair.

You could also call AppleCare (1-800-275-2273) and Apple Customer Relations (1-800-767-2775). I believe those are your only other options.

Can I get a MBP with 32 GB of RAM?: I know someone is going to give me a 1-word reply: "NO".
But what I want to encourage is a bit of a discussion here. Why not 32 gb RAM? Isn't it about time? It can't be the price or?? Can't the software handle it?
I keep things a long time--- 10yr+ PBG4; 5 year MBP-13" --- and that's great when I could (and have) upgraded with more RAM, SSD's etc. But today's Macs are basically sealed boxes like an iPad I believe (talking MacBOOK / MBP's here, not iMacs)(although they are fairly tightly sealed nowadays, too!). So I really have to purchase thinking "What will I need in 2020 or 2022?" -or- "How do I win the lottery?"
Any comments appreciated -- I was planning to upgrade my mid-2010 MBP from 8 gb to 16 gb RAM (yes, you can… just this one model of that age) --- but perhaps save the $150 and put it towards a new one--- then again, $150 is only about 5 hours of an Watch so might just do that anyway…

I believe this IS a problem -- it is an issue I have about not being able to run things without enough RAM.
And I think "No you can't" is not a very helpful answer at all! In fact I prefaced my inquiry / problem with my first sentence thinking someone like you would give just such a reply---- was trying to avoid that!
There might be companies out there like OWC or Crucial or I don't know who -- that could / might / might some day provide increased RAM for existing MBP's just like for my MBP 2010 that is spec'd at 8 gb max RAM but there is a 16 gb solution out there.
So if anyone else would like to try to solve this problem for me --

When I highlight one to delete, the search kicks in. How can I get rid of the history?

You can go to Settings>Safari>Clear History, cookies and data and then delete every bookmark and that should clear it temporarily, but it will only be temporary. As soon as you starting using the search again, then suggestions will appear again.
I think that I may have misread your question - if you want to clear all of the history - use the Clear History button in the upper right corner of the History window. You cannot delete one item at a time.

Aperture 3.0.3, moved files and can't get the from "offline" to "online"

Hi, using Aperture 3.0.3. I moved a previously-imported iphoto directory to a different location. Now of course the images show as "offline" in Aperture. The problem is that I can't get them back online.
I select one or all of the offline photos, and click "Locate Referenced Files". The dialog box pops up and shows volume "back-mac4t" with hundreds of photos "offline". But it doesn't show any thumb nails, or paths to files (that is all of the other columns to the right of the volume remain blank. So I can't select the images and point to the new location to reconnect them.
Any thoughts on this? I could re-import the photos from their new location I suppose but I don't want to lose any retouches or metadata... maybe those would be reimported too?

I remember that I had a similar problem, but I'm not sure. It was solved it by holding down the option key when reconnecting my media. Its a file size issue between different volumes.

I'm on a Mac, and Lightroom comes up with "update available, download now", so I go to download it and find that actually it is a paid for upgrade. So I pay for it, and then have to wait days for Adobe to "confirm" the purchase. It the meanwhile the demo which downloaded itself is saying "trial period over" and said that immediately (i.e. no trial period). How do you get Adobe to respond? I can't get an answer?

How can I get a document from apple online store with IMEI number on it?

I got my iPhone stolen, and currently have insurance requesting a document with IMEI number on it, I called apple and they say this doesn't exist?
I tried to explain to insurance, but they won't listen. I have sent in packing list, shipping notification, and scan of sticker on box with IMEI and serial number.

This must confirm the make, model and IMEI (International Manufacturers Electronic Identity) number of your phone and can be either a letter from your airtime provider on their letter-headed paper, a copy of the original receipt or despatch note that was provided to you when your phone was purchased. I bought from Apple online store, and IMEI only appears on sticker on the box which I've peeled off , scanned and emailed. Called apple and they said document doesn't exist with IMEI number on it. I've saw on another post someone managed to get apple to send them receipt with all the info within 3 days so I'll call back tomorrow, just the guy I spoke today didn't think it was possible.

I can't get my touch to go online from my home network

hello, I have a frustrating issue w/ my ipod touch. Whenever I try to load a page on safari I get a message "Cannot Open Page Because it is not connected to internet" and I sometimes get the message "Safari cannot open the page because the server stopped responding." I have a working Linksys wireless router at home and connect through aol. (The network is unsecured) I have gotten online on my touch from other locations but not from my house. My touch finds the correct network and appears to connect to it successfully. (The blue bars all filled at the top left)What is the problem? Can someone help me get wifi working on my touch from my house?? It would be very appreciated!!!!!

How long have you had this issue? is it a recent thing or has it been happening constantly for a while? Also i advise to go really close to the router and try and get a signal there then you can test to see if it is just you getting bad reception somewhere in the house or indeed the iPod is faulty. It might have a broken WiFi card. If you have a laptop or some other WiFi device try and get reception with that from the same location as the iPod, if it works the iPod is screwed. If you need to know where your nearest apple shop is download 'Around Me' from the App Store(via your PC) and then Sync it to the iPod it should tell you where the nearest shop is

Can't get more than one mac online at once with aiport express

Hi, I hope someone can help - I've searched the forum and been on the phone to level 2 support at Apple for 6 hours to no avail!
I have a D-Link DSL 300G+ modem connected to an airport express and can connect to the internet fine on just one mac if I uncheck the 'Distribute IP addresses' option - if I check this option, whatever settings I have entered has prevented me from accessing the internet at all (I have no idea what settings to enter, I have just followed suggestions from Apple).
This problem arose when following Apple's diagnostics on a minor ichat issue, I disconnected my modem and reset my AX settings (until then everything had been fine.) I have called my ISP and D Link and they tell me the issue is with the AX.
This is my first posted question so I hope I have given all the relevant and necessary information.

Let's double-check your AirPort Express Base Station's (AX) settings ...
Perform a "factory default" reset of the AX
o (ref: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=108044)
Modem/Router Power ReCycling
o Power-off the ADSL modem, AX, & computer(s); Wait at least 30 minutes.
o Power-on the ADSL modem; Wait at least 15 minutes.
o Power-on the AX; Wait at least 5 minutes.
o Power-on the computer(s)
Either connect to the AX's wireless network, or temporarily connect your computer directly using an Ethernet cable to the Ethernet port of the AX, and then, using the AirPort Admin Utility, check these settings:
AirPort tab
o Base Station Name: <whatever you wish or use the default>
o AirPort Network Name: <whatever you wish or use the default>
o Create a closed network (unchecked)
o Wireless Security: Not enabled
o Channel: Automatic
o Mode: 802.11b/g Compatible
Internet tab
o Connect Using: Ethernet
o Configure: Using DHCP
o WAN Ethernet Port: Automatic
Network tab
o Distribute IP addresses (checked)
o Share a single IP address (using DHCP & NAT) (enabled)
Once you verified that you can get Internet access for all of your computers, you should secure your wireless network.

When I press the down arrow on the right side of my location bar and history is displayed, how can I get it to display history from most recently accessed site on down?

When I click the down arrow on the right side of the location bar (without having typed a full or partial URL in, I am just clicking the down arrow) a history dropdown is displayed which shows 12 website URLs that I have visited, but there does not appear to be any rhyme or reason as to what is being displayed. How can I cause this dropdown to display sites visited from the most recently accessed on down? And how can I cause more than 12 URLs to be listed in this dropdown? Why I can't I scroll down through my entire history in chronological order from most recently accessed site?

How can I get my ftp to view online files.

My dreamweaver is not supporting my web address http://www.marketing.presentlyonline.com I have tried it with and without the www. I put in all of my ftp info and and I did the test and it was fine. But when I try to view my online files it comes up blank. I can see the ocal files. This has never happened before. Any suggestions. I am using an old DW MX6

What comes up blank? The remote Files panel?
Are you inside the correct folder on your server? Some hosts have a root directory like public_html or htdocs, or www where web page files must go. In addition, WP can be installed inside a sub-folder like WP or blog . So it all depends on how your server is configured and how you have set-up your site Definition Settings.

Hi all. Is it possible to get 300Mbps with the 2.5GHz band? If no why? If yes, How? I only got 300 Mbps using the 5 GHz band but I need to stick with the 2.4 one since some of my devices don't support the 5GHz band. Thanks

Thanks for your comment, I just realized because of you that my wireless adapter was set to use only 20MHz width. Maybe that is why. I'll try again tonight when I get home.

Just got Verizon FIOS 25/25 - Can't get max mbps under boot camp

I have Macbook Pro c2d unibody. I just got Verzion FIOS. Under Mac OS X Snow Leopard I am able to achieve max download and max upload speed. But under boot camp and windows xp sp3 I am only able to get half down, and almost full up. Does anyone know what the issue could be? I've updated my drivers and everything.
