Can I get rid of dates in Blog?
I want to use the blog pages for a photo blog - and I don't want the dates of postings to show because that is irrelevant to the photos...in iWeb 1.2 I could substiutute text for the date in the blog and the text would show up on the summary pages and archive. With iWeb 2.0, although I can substitute text for the date field of an entry (e.g. the location of the shot), on the summary pages it seems to insist on showing the date/time of the posting. There seems to be no way to delete this field or turn it off: the best I have been able to do is get it to show only a time (e.g. 12.00 AM) - but that seems naff.
Anyone able to tell me how to either remove the date/time field altogether, or substitute text for it?

I am considering selling my phone and going back to an older phone that I had before I renewed my contract. Is there a way for me to change my plan and eliminate the data and the insurance on the iPhone but keep the 700 minutes/month without paying an early termination fee? I just wanted to see if anyone knew before I put the phone up for sale.

I am sorry to learn you lost your job. To clarify what was stated by mdram4x4, you would be able to keep your current calling plan and still ask to have the insurance and the data plan removed. There would only be an early termination fee if you canceled your line of service and were under a customer agreement for that line. The amount of the early termination fee prorates $10.00 less a month the longer you remain under a customer agreement. We can remove the insurance and the data plan removed upon request. When you sell your iPhone to go back to an older device, you would no longer have the unlimited data plan. You may need to add a data plan on your line depending on the phone. We offer different tiered data plans that you can review at this link. Also the warranty would not transfer over to the new owner. When I look at the iTunes music folder in Windows Explorer, it shows as 28.0 GB. In the iTunes library, it says my music is 18.3 GB. I would like to get my 10 gigs back.
I've tried to add the media folder to my library - it just duplicated maybe 10 songs, didn't add any new ones. This suggests that there isn't any extra music in the folder. So why is it 10 GB larger? How can I get rid of the extra non-music data?Apparently there are some mp3 files that aren't adding despite importing the folder...
That is actually a very common problem, due to iTunes being strict/finicky/incompetent (pick your own interpretation) about slight variations in MP3 formats. The problem can usually be corrected by treating the files with a 3rd party tag cleanup program, such as MP3 Validator.
i don't know how much of the missing 9.7 GB this will apply to, but definitely worth a try. -

I have an amazing number of duplicates - not photo - but other. How can I get rid of them? Virtually all kinds if data is duplicated often 20- to 50 times. The duplicates are bot restricted to any one kind of data.

Can't Get Rid Of Space At Page Bottom
I'm doing a redesign of my website and there is a space at the bottom of my page that I can't get rid of. Some pages the space is fine. But most are not. Here's a screen shot of the good and the bad:

In Mail on iMac, successfully running OS X Lion, one mailbox on My Mac for "Recovered Messages (from AOL)" keeps showing 1 very large message (more than 20 Mb) that I just cannot seem to delete. Each time I go into my In Box, the "loading" symbol spins and the message appears in the "Recovered Messages" mailbox. How can I get rid of this recurrent file, please?
At the same time, I'm not receviving any new mails in my In Box, although, if I look at the same account on my MacBook Pro, I can indeed see the incoming mails (but on that machine I do not have the "recovery" problem).
The help of a clear-thinking Apple fan would be greatly appreciated.

I worked it out.
Unhide your hidden files ( I used a widget from http://www.apple.com/downloads/dashboard/developer/hiddenfiles.html)
Go to your HD.
Go to Users.
Go to your House (home)
there should be a hidden Library folder there (it will be transparent)
Go to Mail in this folder
The next folder ( for me ) is V2
Click on that and the next one will be a whole list of your mail servers, and one folder called Mailboxes
Click on that and there should be a folder called recovered messages (server) . mbox
Click on that there a random numbered/lettered folder -> data
In that data folder is a list of random numbered folders (i.e a folder called 2, one called 9 etc) and in EACH of these, another numbered folder, and then a folder called messages.
In the messages folder delete all of the ebmx (I think that's what they were from memory, sorry I forgot as I already deleted my trash after my golden moment).
This was GOLDEN for me. Reason being, when I went to delete my "recovered file" in mail, it would give me an error message " cannot delete 2500 files". I knew it was only 1 file so this was weird. Why 2500 files? Because if you click on the ebmx files like I did, hey presto, it turned out that they were ALL THE SAME MESSAGE = 2500 times. In each of those folders in the random numbers, in their related message folder.
Now remember - DONT delete the folder, make sure you have gone to the message folder, found all those pesky ebmx files and deleted THOSE, not the folder.
It worked for me. No restarting or anything. And recovered file. GONE.
Started receiving and syncing mail again. Woohoo.

HT4847 How do I unlock my ipad. It Wants me to back up icloud but can't get rid of message to try
My ipad is showing a message that advises icloud has not been backed up for 2 weeks and the ipad needs to be plugged in and charging to enable back up. However, I can't get rid of the message so that I can turn on wi-fi and start back up. This has happened to me before and I ended up having to pay a one off fee of £25.00 for advice to clear the message that was quick to do. Can't remember how to do it though. Does anyone know how to unfreeze the screen please? I have tried holding the wake up button but that just brings up the swipe to power off screen, which does not react to a swipe. Please help.
Reset it by holding the power and home buttons at the same time until you see the Apple logo, then release. This just restarts it, you won't lose any data by doing this.

I created a new apple id because the previous one no longer exists as an email (domain had to be cancelled). I keep seeing the old one pop up in my iPhone for which I don't remember the password. How can I get rid of it??? Or how can I reset the password if the email doesn't exist??? I also tried answering a question (my date of birth) but it says it's wrong.

Frustrated!!!In one of the help pages for managing your Apple ID (http://support.apple.com/kb/HE40), it shows two separate sections, one for Apple ID and one for Primary Email address. When I go to manage my Apple ID, I see only a single section for both. Can the two be 'separated', especially when you face the situation of having to discontinue your email address for some reason?
I also noticed that when navigating to Apple ID Support Communities, it shows my nickname 'dishdy'. How and when did I insert this? In the current sequence for creating an Apple ID I don't see this. In my current profile I don't see this.
In any case, I have freed myself from my previous Apple ID (@artemis.it) on my iPhone.

Can't get rid of the beeping noise!(SOLVED)
Hey guys, so I can't get rid of the beeping noise of my laptop.
I have an Acer Aspire 722. Every time I plug or unplug the power, it beeps. And the really annoying one, everytime I backspace, it beeps.
I've tried going into alsa and muting beep. I put !pcspkr in modules in rc.conf.
I don't know what else to do?

edit: unrelated but something I want to resolve. I get these debugging messages, and found to get rid of them I have to set loglevel= 3 in grub. How do I do that? (SOLVED)
Also, I'm having an issue with x-org. Every time I try to download it, it says it is missing a file. So I figured maybe it is a mirror problem so I went to change my mirror. Pacman keeps trying to use my old mirror even when my mirrorlist does not have that mirror commented out. I also checked pacman.conf and no mirror is being loaded in there with a server=mirror syntax.
Not sure what is happening?

You can go to Settings>Safari>Clear History, cookies and data and then delete every bookmark and that should clear it temporarily, but it will only be temporary. As soon as you starting using the search again, then suggestions will appear again.
I think that I may have misread your question - if you want to clear all of the history - use the Clear History button in the upper right corner of the History window. You cannot delete one item at a time. -
I have purchased apps in the past and now every time I download a new app my IPad notifies me that they cannot be purchased at the time. For example, tap tap revenge and 11 others cannot be purchased at the time. How can I get rid of it. Can anybody help?

‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just canceling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.

How can I get rid of a stuck update which will not install or cancel?
I asked for updates to add-ons. One update turned out to be for McAfee Site Advisor. I restarted the computer but after restarting the update shows as "This update will be installed when Firefox is restarted" even though it had just been restarted. I tried restarting again, twice, but there is no change. I tried to cancel the install but clicking on Cancel does nothing. So I cannot install the update and I can't get rid of it. What now? The other updates were OK.

If there are problems with updating then best is to download the full version and uninstall the currently installed version.
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.

* Do not remove personal data when you uninstall the current version.
Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.

Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.
