Can I go back to a previous date in time?
I've done an Archive and Install thinking it would save my old settings and documents etc but instead it did a new clean install so I've lost all my Bookmarks, all my documents - my entire 3 years of records that I built up.
I thought there was a program where you could take your computer back to a previous date in time and restore it to how it was at that time.
I've been told that I can't retrieve stuff from the previous system that is sitting on my Hard Drive but can I go back in time somehow to get my old stuff back?
Well, basically, an Archive and Install puts on a new OS and wipes the former installation, BUT there should be a folder on your desktop that refers to the OLD OS X. Some of the information you want may be in there (for example in Library folders), but it may not be that easy to retrieve and use again.
That "program" that takes you back is called Time Machine and it part of Leopard, but you have to set it up and use it to be able to take advantage of it: either individual files, folders or applications can be retrieved quite easily if set up with an external disk.
So, if I understand your current predicament right, you will not be able to go back (unless you were using Time Machine) and all you can do is to retrieve certain settings files if they are still available; but this in itself may be a risky task.

I updated to new ios and now it is not syncing properly. New songs are not showing up on the ipod display but when I view the device on my computer, they are in the playlist but there is a dashed circle beside the missing songs. Every time I try to download anything firefox stops responding and will not do anything until I restart it. Can I revert back to a previous version, or is there a fix for it? When I restart firefox, then the download continues and all is well until I try to download something new (which I do quite often).

How can I go back to a previous iTunes?
I hate the new iTunes, it's version 11, I think.
So many features which made manipulation of my music easy (based on size or time) are gone.
I have no idea how many megs my playlist is. That's not user friendly and makes it harder to use iTunes to burn, where size needs to be known.
And searching provides hard to use info...it was much more fruitful before.
And dragging and dropping is also harder.
And every move I make seems to encourage me to go to The iTunes Store.
How can I go back to a previous version?I hate it too. I can't sync my IPOD. I can't see if tracks are checked to be synced or not. I can't put albums in alphabetical order. Hate it.

Seems silly to not allow a rollback from a file repository of previous app versions.>All apps are tied to the account that downloaded it, so to be able to sync back the previous version you would need to still have your copy of that version
I'm not sure I follow, I have not sync'd the ipad with my computer. I just saw an update in the app store and took it.
I tried to del and install the app from the purchased tab in the app store, that reinstalled v2.1 of the app. This also fails to launch.
I have made two service requests to the developer, no response at this time.

I have been having nothing but trouble with OS 10.6.8. Many of my applications will not work.. HOw can I revert back to a previous version of OS x?
Before you revert anything try this:
Reinstall OS X without erasing the drive
1. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
2. Reinstall Snow Leopard
If the drive is OK then quit DU and return to the installer. Proceed with reinstalling OS X. Note that the Snow Leopard installer will not erase your drive or disturb your files. After installing a fresh copy of OS X the installer will move your Home folder, third-party applications, support items, and network preferences into the newly installed system.
Download and install Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1.
Next time don't post something like "nothing but trouble." Tell us exactly what the trouble is and provide any additional information such as error messages. -
Just upgraded to Safari 6.0 when prompted by software upgrade in the apple menu. I have OS X 10.7.4. Was this a mistake? It is the slowest I have ever seen Safari. Safari has never uploaded a website properly on my brand new MacBook Pro but this is ridiculous. Can I go back to the previous Safari or are there any fixes? Please help.

IOS 7 has been a nighmare. I have lost apps and the ones that are still there clearly will not open. Can you revert back to the previous version IOS 6.

and make sure that settings->itunes & app stores-> appleId was set correctly

Thanks for the answer. I am not new to IOS software but I don't really ever bother with it, have discovered how little I take advantage of the i-phones capability, in reality I still only really use it to phone, text, check emails, listen to music and look on internet. I'm not keen on jailbreaking it as I don't trust it to work so normally just update and leave it at that. Only reason I wanted to downgrade was because the update had stopped my bluetooth working but Kilted Tim solved that problem for me so am now not interested in downgrading software. I quite liked the things that IOS 5.1 gave me but wasn't happy with fact that bluetooth stopped working in car as it caused me problems. One day I might try and work out exactly what I-phones can do but on the basis that it's a phone all I really want it to do is phone, if that bit works I'm happy.
