Can I go back to an earlier edition of itunes
I don't like the latest itunes. felt it was easier when I could see all my playlists on the left hand column. Is it possible to go back to the previous edition?
You have to restore the last .itl file that worked with iTunes 10.7 or earlier. iTunes will upgrade older libraries, it won't downgrade newer ones.
However....
The main differences between iTunes 11 and earlier versions are the loss of coverflow and ability to have multiple windows open.
In Windows, you can restore much of the look & feel of iTunes 10.7 with these shortcuts:
ALT to temporarily display the menu bar
CTRL+B to show or hide the menu bar
CTRL+S to show or hide the sidebar
CTRL+/ to show or hide the status bar (won't hide for me on Win XP)
Click the magnifying glass top right and untick Search Entire Library to restore the old search behaviour
Use View > Hide <Media Kind> in the cloud or Edit > Preferences > Store anduntick Show iTunes in the cloud purchases to hide the cloud items. The second method eliminates the cloud status column (and may let iTunes start up more quickly)
If you don't like having different coloured background & text in the Album (Grid) view use Edit > Preferences > General and untick Use custom colours for open albums, movies, etc.
With iTunes 11.0.3 you can enable artwork in the Songs view from View > Show View Options (CTRL+J) making it more like the old Album List view
The View Options pop-up may also let you control sub-sorting in certain views

Previous versions of iTunes won't use the iTunes library (newer version) file
Fortunately, iTunes makes backup copies of its library,
So when you reinstall, you have to delete (or rename just in case) library file, you have to copy (and rename) one the backups (usually the most recent one) to take its place
the library file is called >> iTunes Library (extension itl)
and should be in the >> Desktop\Libraries\Music\iTunes\ folder
the backups should be in the >> Desktop\Libraries\Music\iTunes\Previous iTunes Library\ folder
that should make iTunes work, wiith most or all of your library intact -
I just updated my iTunes on 12-7-2012 and I do not like the newer version.....can I go back to the earlier version?? This new version does not have the iTunes DJ nor does is show at the bottom as in the earlier version how many songs and the size of my library.
To do this in iMovie 11. use the SHARE menu. Share your project using the Share menu and choose Export Using QuickTime.
In the Dialog box that comes up, choose Sound to AIFF, or one of the other sound options. This will create a file that you can drag into iTubes. -
Ever since I upgraded my Firefox to 4.01.1, everthing loads much, much slower.......I can go make a coffee while the page loads. Sometimes, it is soooooooooo slow, that it times out and I have to start all over again. Even when I sign on and load google, sometimes it takes forever.
I also do not like the toolbar at the top. It's grey and hard to read, what is wrong with white?
Can I revert back to the earlier version of Firefox? It worked much better. I use ancestry.com a lot and they even recommend a 3.??? version of Firefox.

However, since my original post was a complex mix of things, before I do that, should I post the individual problem sets that I had noted (address fields/nicknames problems -- numbers 1-3; default font problem -- number 4; attachment reminder problem -- number 5) as separate issues which have not been solved?
Do you know if these various issues are being worked on? I'm glad to have the temporary fix of rolling back to an earlier version, but I'd like to get back on the current update schedule at some point if and when these problems have been corrected.

I have always (maybe stupid!) updated my iOS version when itunes has proposed it, thinking my old iPhone 3 should work better. It is now clear for me that it is not the case!
Can I go back to an earlier version so I can use the phone as it was meant to work?
Have read something about if you have not save the "protocol" from an earlier version it is impossible!
The question is also justified for all my other iPhones and Pad in my family, should I stop updates iOS versions on them as oblivious thy are becoming useless with the time, or?

I'm surprised to hear that your 3gs is working well!
My main reason to continue with my 3 gs (I have a iphone 5 also) is to use the GPS function in it. but from the moment I upgrade it to iOS 6.0.1 the GPS is not working well. I can not say if it is becase it is too slove or something is not supporting it. It does not matter if I use it in combination with Google Maps our my TomTom app.
It is loosing the GPS all the time.
The second problem is also that the 3gs is not working anymore in the TomTom car mounth holder.
TomTom are making them so they are only working for iphone 3 (so my other 2 iphone 4 have never worked in it, but it is in that way).
I do not know if it is the TomTom software which is not supported by iOS6 or what...
As I can only use the holder for my 3gs it is awast if the mobil is not working...

Can I go back to an older version of iTunes that'll support both my iPhone 4S w/iOS6 and my 2009 MacBook running Leapord 10.5.8? I simply want everything to work the way it had been forever until recently. However, I can't imagine Apple would intentionally make their own products obsolete by rendering them useless through a software "upgrade." My MacBook is only 3 yrs old so I feel like I am simply missing 1 piece to this puzzle in order for things to start working again. I have my MacBook, iPod and iPhone 4S all set up to install updates automatically so if I need to uninstall certain updates and revert back to ones that work will that even be an option? Thanks

I am unhappy with the recent upgrade to Thunderbird 31.3.0 and now 31.4.0. My bottom line question is whether I can roll back to the previous version, which was working well for me.
The problems I have encountered include:
1. I used to be able to enter a single letter in many cases in the address field, and the autocomplete would fill in the entry that I always use with that single letter. That function has been lost, as has auto fill-in based on the nicknames I have entered in my Address Book. I see there is another thread on this problem (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1036962), but no satisfactory answer so far. Entering a single letter now pulls up completely unrelated address entries that may not even have that letter as part of the name, address or nickname for that unrelated address. I have created new nicknames to try to adapt to this problem, but even these new nicknames no longer work with the 31.4.0 upgrade yesterday, forcing me to create yet more complex and hard-to-remember nicknames to pull up my frequent addressees. This is all very frustrating to me, as I depend on speed and ease when creating messages.
2. Also, I used to be able to enter a single letter in the address field and then use the mouse to click on the "To:" symbol to the left of the next address line to change the next entry to "Cc:"; doing so would then cause the complete address to fill in in the "To:" address field, and make the next field ready for an entry. That no longer works. If I use that technique, the shortcut that I entered in the first field gets included along with the address (if I'm lucky enough to have the address itself selected now, given the problems I've mentioned above). I now have to press "Enter" in order to get the address in the first field to "take" correctly, and then have to click on the "To:" symbol for the next line as a separate action. Just another inconvenience with the new version.
3. While still on the subject of addresses, personally I see no reason why the address and subject fields should now be colored blue by default rather than appearing as blank, white fields. I far prefer the old look. And I suspect that changing from the blue color to a nice, clean, white field takes time and computer resources that slow things down.
4. The default font (Times in my case) no longer "takes" when replying to or forwarding messages. I've checked Tools/Options/Composition, and Times is still shown as my default font. However, when I start to type (in a reply with the original message quoted or in a forwarded message), the result is "Variable Width". In order to get Times, I need to highlight the block of text after typing, including the lead-in to the quoted message or the header of the forwarded message, and select "Times" when "(mixed)" shows up. This is a big pain; I often forget to do so and end up having to edit the Unsent Message (which I check before sending) as New and correct the font.
5. A minor problem: I rely on the reminder to attach a message which shows up when an "attachment-related" word is entered in the body of the message. It has been a wonderful feature of Thunderbird that has prevented me on many occasions from sending off messages without the attachments. However, in the new versions, even if I have indeed added the attachment, a pop-up comes up on sending the message saying there has been no attachment and asking if I want to add one. It's easy enough to just click "No", but it's yet one more unnecessary and distracting step that this new version is requiring of the user.
I'm really sad to see these various changes/glitches. I love Thunderbird and it bothers me deeply to find myself mired in so many new problems that slow down my work. I would be grateful for any suggestions and advice, and, particularly, for any information as whether I can roll back to the version prior to 31.3.0 that was working well for me.Thank you, Zenos. Before i downloaded your firefox 8.0.1, I used firefox to 'save as' the ''Unrealized gain/loss page'' from a brokerage account, - for my ongoing historical financial records file (safari doesn't work for this site).
On the Unrealized gain/loss page, there is a '+' symbol (in front of each stock owned) that one needs to 'clic' on (turns to a -) to see the various dates (and financial data) when you purchased different lots of the same stock. (say, ''IBM''; purchased IBM shares on 21-10-'11, 100 shares, @ $147, current price @ $180, gain of $33/share, total gain $3,300 / 10-14-'11 purchased 200 IBM shares, @ $191, current price @ $180, loss of $11/share, total loss $2200 / - and so on for however many individual 'lots' one has of that particular stock. ). This information is very important to me, and now i can not 'save' it.
- So I want to know how I 'fix' this - or - how I can go back to the earlier version, that did work.To downgrade to Firefox 3.6 first uninstall Firefox 4, but do not select the option to "Remove my Firefox personal data". If you select that option it will delete your bookmarks, passwords and other user data.
You can then install the latest version of Firefox 3.6 available from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html - it will automatically use your current bookmarks, passwords etc.
To avoid possible problems with downgrading, I recommend going to your profile folder and deleting the following files if they exist - extensions.cache, extensions.rdf, extensions.ini, extensions.sqlite and localstore.rdf. Deleting these files will force Firefox to rebuild the list of installed extensions, checking their compatibility, and reset toolbar customizations.

Can i recover licence number from earlier editions
Ive updated aperature from 1 -3 but have lost my earlier licence codes. The hard drive on my mac book died and had to be replaced. Is there some way I can retrieve my earlier licence numbers so I can load aperature back onto my mac book ?

I installed v 7.0 Bundle 2406 a few weeks ago and have had constant synch problems since. Most of these I have been able to fix by deleting 'problem' calendar appointments I have identified on the synch log. However, I have no idea how to solve the latest problem (see below). So I give-up and now want to roll back to ealier version which worked fine.

It is not recommended to downgrade your software, however, if you wish to do so you will need to consult your mobile carriers download site at www.na.blackberry.com/eng/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp and see if the previous software version is posted. If so, download and install it to your computer then use the BlackBerry® Desktop Software to install the older software version.

I recently upgraded to iTunes 6 and I HATE it. It freezes a lot and at first, the preferences option under the edit menu was not even there and now it will not let me click on any of the tabs at the top. It only shows the "general" options. I had no problems with my earlier version of iTunes and it's not my computer because I have no problems with any other programs.Is there any way I can downgrade and go back to the last version? Or what can I do to fix iTunes 6 now that I'm stuck with it? I'd appreciate any help because there doesn't seem to be any way to contact Apple to ask them. hmmm. this sort of thing is sometimes caused by a corrupt itunes preferences file. let's see if we can fix this by rebuilding that file. try using the instructions on rebuilding a preferences file in this user tip:

How can I revert back to my old version of itunes without deleting my data?
Ever sence I upgrated to the 10.6.7.1, I can't go into the store! I literally tried everything. So only choice is to delete the new itunes and revert back to the 10.4 version. But I don't want to risk getting all my music,movies,pictures,tv shows, pretty much everything get deleted off my ipod. I heard about backing up my files. Someone, anybody, PLEASE help, I'm this close to smashing my computer to pieces if I don't get an answer or a solution.
To clarify things, if you have LifeCycleManager also called LCM and use versioning, you can revert changes.
Howver, if you edit a report in a higher patch level then go back to a previous patch level you may face unexpected behavior like sudden crash, document corruption that in the worst cases manifests after a long time.
Therefore the best practices are to use LCM and/or perform systematic backups plus exceptional backups when major changes occur.
