Can I have 2 playlists for 2 ipods on one I tunes?

I have a Ipod touch and just bought my son one as well. How do i keep the "bad" songs off his ipod while enjoying them myself. We use the same laptop, although another is available. Do I need to set up another itunes account

You can sync whatever you like to each ipod.
You can make playlists ( as many as you want) and sync only the playlists that you want to each ipod.

  • Any one knows how to have 2 libraries for your iphone 4, one in an iMac and other in an MacBook pro ?

Hi, does any one knows how can i have 2 libraries for my iphone 4, one in my iMac and the same apps in my MacBook Pro ?????
can i only have one library ????
do i have to delete my library from one of my Macs?
    thanks so much.
everything is very easy on Mac but transfering your contacts, apps, music and other info is so hard !!!!!
they should fix this problems for all the users .

Iphone will sync itunes contacts and pics with one and only one computer at a time  if you sync to another, it will indeed erase the current content and replace with content from the new library.

  • Is there any way that I can have songs in an iTunes Playlist without having the songs play in my regular music list.  For instance: can I have a Playlist of Christmas songs without having them play in the routine shuffle of my music library?  Thanks -Rog

Select the songs, press CTRL+I to Get Info, on the Options tab set Skip when shuffling to Yes.
If you want to the hide the songs from your main music view you could consider changing the media kind to audiobooks or podcasts if you don't mind the side effect of them showing up there instead.

    Hi Becki ..
You need to "authorize" the Mac.
Launch iTunes on the Mac then from the iTunes menu bar top of your screen click Store > Authorize This Computer.
Now, using the same Apple ID as you used to purchased iTunes media originally, you should be able to sync all your content.

  • HT1911 how can you retrieve your passcode for your ipod if you have forgotten it?

how can you retrieve your passcode for your ipod touch if you have forgotten it and it became disabled?

    You cannot retrieve it.
You can do as the manual tells you to do and restore the ipod.
If you are unable to restore, then type "unable to restore" into the search bar at the top of this page by Support and read the resulting help articles.

  • How do I create separate playlists for two ipods/one library and them sync them?

I have an older classic ipod, my daughter has an older nano.  I got new laptop and have managed to sync my ipod and ipad with success, as well as move my library from old pc to new laptop.  Now I am trying to update and sync my daughter's ipod.  It says that it is synced but nothing changes.  I believe I had set up two different libraries on the old pc, and so certain cds had been copied into her library.  I can't find them in the earlier mentioned transfered library.  That's not a big deal, as I can just use those cds to add them back in later (more work though).  I've read older community posts on my issue, but any article links on how-to are too old, I guess.  I like the idea of using just one library and creating playlists for each ipod to sync to, but cannot figure out how to do this.  Also, do I need to restore my daughter's ipod to get the ball rolling?  She's taken a couple of videos she likes and I'm not sure I want to lose it in the restore.  Any advice greatly appreciated.

    Hey puckaluck8,
Thanks for the question, and welcome to Apple Support Communities.
The following article provides different methods for managing multiple devices with one computer:

You mentioned syncing separate playlists, which is definitely a good method. The other option you may want to consider is called "Manually Syncing", which you can read about here:

  • My old computer has crashed and is beyond repair. How can i transfer my playlist from my ipod to my new computer?

My old computer has crashed. My new computer has my iphone account. How can I transfer my playlist from my ipod to my new computer?

Sync is only oneway, from PC to your device. Unless you have the music on your PC, iTunes is going to wipe out what you have on your device if you are syncing to a new library.
You can only transfer Purchased music over to Itunes on your PC.

As for you own music, you may have to use a third party software. A good Free one is called Sharepod which you can download from Download.com here:

  • I can't see my playlists on the iPod nano (7th generation)

I can’t see my playlists on the iPod nano (7th generation), but I can see and play them on the iTunes on my laptop. What do I do?

    Hi lone_dreamr,
This is going to depend on how you are syncing music to your iPod nano. If you are automatically syncing, what option do you have selected in this menu? (Entire music library, or Selected content)
You may want to uncheck the "Sync Music" box, apply the changes, then recheck the box, and apply the changes once more. This will instruct iTunes to completely remove all music from your iPod, and then copy the files once more. If you have a large amount of music, this initial sync may take a while.
If the above does not resolve your issue, see the following articles:

  • Bluetooth not working and Can't have "Repeat Playlist"

I just noticed that I cannot connect my iPod touch 2G with my iMac desktop though both machines/devices are "discoverable." And for some reason, I dob't have "Repeat Playlist on my iPod Touch 2G though on my iMac the "Repeat Playlist" is highlighted.
Tried resetting this iPod touch several times but no success-all kinds of resetting. It's difficult to stop when you are running and music suddenly stops because there's no "repeat playlist."
Is there someone who has suggestions on what to do with this device?
    Thanks so much.

Regarding BT, the iPod Touch only supports headphones, keyboards, speakers, some game-to-game conductivity to different devices). You can transfer files. The BT profiles supported are here:

  • Where can I buy a charger for an ipod mini 1st generation

Where can I buy a charger for an ipod mini 1st generation

I believe that is a 4th gen iPod.  When you say "charger," do you mean the USB docking cable?  Or do mean a USB power adapter that you connect to a wall outlet to charge the iPod?
If it's the docking cable, it's the standard USB docking cable
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MA591G/C/apple-30-pin-to-usb-cable
If you happen to have a Mac with a FireWire port, the 4th gen iPod actually ALSO works (better) over a FireWire connection.  But you'll have to look for an old FireWire docking cable on eBay (or other online source).
If you are asking about a USB power adapter, this is the lowest power version from Apple, and it works with the 4th gen iPod.

Connect the iOS device to your computer and try to make a backup

Then restore via iTunes. The iOS device will be erased. Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode if necessary to allow the restore.
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

    For how to restore:

    To restore from backup see:

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:

  • Can you make IOS 7 for the iPod 4th Generation please?

Can you make iOS 7 for the IPod 4th generation because to be honest it's not fair to us iPod 4th Generation users that the iPod 5 and the IPhone users get to have it but we don't

All the iOS devices compatible (iPhone 4 and later, iPad 2 and later, and 5G iPod touch) with iOS 7 have at least 512 MB of memory. The 4G only has 256 MB

  • I'm using the remote with my iPod connected to iTunes why can't I search playlists on the iPod? It only lets me search playlists in iTunes

I'm using the remote with my iPod connected to iTunes why can't I search playlists on the iPod? It only lets me search playlists in iTunes and only let's me see the current playlist on the iPod only

You can only sync to one computer.
You would have to transfer purchases, but the apple ID would need to be the same.
Or find a 3rd party app to transfer content.
