Can I have 2 seperate iTunes on my computer?

The current one I have is my brothers.
We don't share the same interest in music and I would like my own. Is there a way to download another seperate itunes I can use for myself?

Use separate iTunes libraries or user accounts on the computer. To create or switch between iTunes libraries, launch iTunes with the Shift(Windows) or Option(Mac OS X) key held down.

Configure your PC for an addtional user account.

    Windows users:
Look in your computer's Help documentation to learn how to set up additional user accounts. To locate this information:
Click the Start Menu, and then click Help or Help and Support.
Enter "new user" in the Search field.
    Press Return.
If you create multiple user accounts on one computer but want the same media to be available in iTunes for all users, see iTunes: How to share music between different accounts on a single computer.

  • Can we have two itunes on one computer?!

    Hello.
My dad has just got an ipod shuffle for xmas, and was wondering if we can set up two itunes on our computer so we dont get songs mixed up etc - I cant seem to do this and his ipod has been registered on mine and so his music goes into my library - help

It's possible to have multiple libraries in a single Windows user account. To create or access a second (or more) library, hold down the Shift key in Windows when launching iTunes. In the resulting dialogue you will get the option to create a new library or navigate to the other Library.
Note: You can only have one Library open at a time and iTunes will default to the last library opened if you don't use the keyboard command to choose one. The new library will be empty until you add content to it. To get back to your original library you need to close iTunes and open it again while holding down the shift key, this time choose to open an existing library and navigate to its location. Multiple libraries can prove tricky when using multiple iPods, if you don't use the keyboard command you can risk syncing to the wrong library:Using multiple iTunes libraries -Windows
Another option is to create a separate Windows User account for each person on your PC. Different accounts by definition would give you completely separate libraries. Each account has it's own iTunes folder, Library and iTunes Music folder and you load it with CDs etc just as you did with your original one. The iPod can be set to update however the owner chooses, sync all, manual or sync specific playlists
I don't use Windows so I can't give you a step by step on that one, however I can point you to another web page which should help you out. You can read about Windows user accounts here: Create A New User Account In Vista

is it possible to seperate multiple itunes store accounts and music libraries on 1 computer for 2 iphones ?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
You just need to create a second iTunes account on your PC or Mac.
To do it, open iTunes while holding down the Option (Alt) key (on a Mac) or the Shift key, and press the option to create an iTunes option. You will have to open iTunes with that key when you want to switch libraries

  • 2 seperate iTunes on one computer

Can I have 2 iTunes on one computer? My girlfriend has a 2gig and I have a 20 gig. When we update we have alot of checking and unchecking to do. I would like to save one for her and one for me. Both with our whole liberay. If anyone has done this could you please help?
    Thanx

When the iPods belong to different people, there are basically three ways of using multiple iPods on a computer and these involve:
    a) Sharing a single iTunes library
    b) Creating Multiple Libraries in a single user account
    c) Creating multiple user accounts (as suggested in the previous post).
Note: When you are sharing an iTunes library, you don't have to set each iPod to update in the same manner, you can mix and match from the options below as each iPod has it's own update settings
Sharing a Library and/or User Account
If you want to share the one library, you can set either or all of the iPods so that they only get updated with only certain playlists (you can update from more than one if you wish): Loading songs onto iPod automatically - Windows
Choosing the update option "Sync Music - Selected playlists" allows you to create a playlist specifically for the iPod and drag the tracks you want into it. If you tire of the list and want to change it, you just add or remove the songs you don't want. The ones you take out out remain in the library to be used some other time if you choose. You can read more about playlists at these links:
iTunes: Creating playlists of your favorite songs
How to create a Smart Playlist with iTunes
Or you can choose to update any or all of the iPods manually and just drag whatever content you want to them: Managing content manually on iPod
    Multiple Libraries
It's also possible to have multiple libraries in a single account. To create or access a second (or more) library, hold down the Shift key in Windows when launching iTunes 7. In the resulting dialogue you will get the option to create a new library or navigate to the other Library.
Note: You can only have one Library open at a time and iTunes will default to the last library opened if you don't use the keyboard command to choose one. This can prove tricky when using multiple iPods, if you don't use the keyboard command you can risk syncing to the wrong library: Using multiple iTunes libraries -Windows

Correct, but you shouldn't have them in one library.
    Why not?
If you want to use two Apple IDs, you should create a second library for one of these Apple IDs, or another user that uses a different library.
    Why?
I have one library with three iTunes accounts (mine and two daughters). No problems at all.

can i have two itunes accounts on one computer

    Hello Barry
It is a yes and no answer. Yes you can but you cannot have them in the same iTunes library or one of the accounts cannot be associated for 90 days. You would need to have either a separate user or separate iTunes library to have both Apple ID’s on the same computer.

  • Can I have two itunes accounts on my pc? I have one account on the computer and the second on a portable back up.

Can I have two Itunes accounts on one pc? One is on our PC now, and I have another on a portable back up. I hope I can.......thanks.

Yes, you can have multiple Apple IDs within one iTunes copy.
Note that all purchases will forever be tied to the Apple ID that was used to buy them. You will have to authorize the computer to the new library, as each device can be synced with just a single computer.

How can I have another Itunes account on the same computer for my wife?

In case you didn't fully understand what dallon meant, it means another user account on your computer. You set that up in Windows and then instal iTunes onto that account.
That way, you each have your own desktop and your own itunes. You can link to the songs in the other person's library as well, but you cannot run both iTunes at the same time. (That simply means you need to close it on the first account before opening it on the second account.)

can you have 2 itunes account on the same computer?

Yes, go to your Windows Control Panel and create another user, log into it, run iTunes and it's ready to rock and roll.
Transfer your content over via USB Key, Dropbox or external drive.
Heck the best thing would be to File > Backup library to disk with a bunch of DVD-R's, therefore you get a backup in the process!
    Good Luck
