Can I have a different iCloud ID than my iTunes Store ID?

I have an apple id that I use for the iTunes store and share with my kids. I set up iCloud on my iPhone and it used that id. I would like a seperate apple id that I couled use for iClould so I can keep my contacts, reminders, calendars, etc. seperate. Is it possible?

To answer your question (robphoton) .....
I don't have an iPhone or Music Match so i don't know how they work.
But on my iPad there is a place to enter an iCloud account ID in the iCloud
settings and in the iTunes store settings there is a place to enter a different
Apple ID account for the iTunes store.
In my case i had an old Mobile Me account linked to an existing Me.com
email address which was converted to an iCloud ID and i have a different
Apple ID account which was linked to the iTunes store. So i was forced
into 2 separate accounts.
My iCloud accounts syncs my emails and backups and my iTunes account
takes care of all my purchased music or videos in the iTunes store.
The original poster asked if he could have two accounts. One for all his
family to use in the iTunes store so they could share music and a separate
iCloud account just for him to use for his personal emails and backups and
my answer was yes he could because the two accounts that i have work.
My concern for the original poster was that when he signs into the iTunes
store to make a new purchase he has to make sure he always signs in using
his iTunes account ID so his purchases are linked to the same iTunes account.
If you start mixing purchases using 2 different accounts in the iTunes store
then you will be locked out of half your library depending on which account is
authorized in the iTunes player.
One account is always best if you are a single person using your Apple
mobile devices but if you have a family with multiple devices then a
separate iCloud and iTunes account might be better.
In my case my separate iTunes store account ID lets me purchase iTunes music
and videos that i can use on both my Mac and my iPad and my different iCloud
account ID syncs my Emails, backups and bookmarks on both of my Apple devices.
As long as you purchase items in the iTunes store using the same iTunes store
ID and the iTunes player on all your Apple devices are setup with the same iTunes
store ID then you can buy and play any items on your Apple devices. It doesn't matter
what your iCloud ID is set at, Its only your iTunes Account ID that counts.
I hope what i've written is clear and answers your questions but Apple has made
this very confusing by forcing us into all these different login IDs and passwords.
If you are still confused then you should call Apple support and let them know
that this iCloud / iTunes account system that they set up is very confusing.

I live in China, have Dutch nationality, and no US address or Credit Card; how can I have access to products from the US iTunes store, in particular music, when such items are not available from the China iTunes store? In general, what are the differences between countries' iTunes offerings? Does one really need an address and a credit card for any country to be able to access that countries iTunes store? Why these restrictions?

    You cannot.
You cannot use another countrys itunes store.
You must be physically locates inside the borders of a country to use that countrys itunes store and a credit card issued in that country with a valid billing address in that country.
The owners of the distribution rights of movies/music/etc differ by country.  These distributors decide who can sell their content in that country.
Buy from another source if your countrys itunes store does not carry somehting that you want.

  • Can I have three different iCloud accounts in my iBook? one for each user of the family? Thanks

I have a computer at home which is used by 5 family members. Each of us have a separate user in the MacBook. Can each of us have a different iCloud account to sincronize with each of our iPhones or once you download the iCloud for one of us, no other iCloud will be added to the same laptop?
    Many thanks.

    Hi Valeriano009,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
You are already on the right track with 5 individual user accounts on your computer.    Please be sure to back up your main Apple ID account before making any changes below.
The article below will explain in more detail ... but it sounds like you will want to create a separate Apple ID for each member of your family to keep their contacts, calendars, Photo Stream etc. separate.
If your family has made a lot of iTunes Store purchases, you can stay signed in to your current Apple ID to have access to them.   Or your family members can start fresh with their own iTunes Store purchases.  Please review the Frequently Asked Questions section in this article:
Using your Apple ID for Apple services
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4895
Each member of your family should log into their own user account on the computer, and then click on the link below to create their unique Apple ID.
    Apple - My Apple ID
    https://appleid.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/MyAppleId.woa/
Make sure that the email address you want to use for your Apple ID meets these conditions:
The email address is one that you use regularly, because it will be the primary email address for your Apple ID.
The email address is not associated with any other Apple ID.
The email address is not an iCloud email address, which is already an Apple ID. iCloud email addresses end with @icloud.com, @me.com, or @mac.com.
If each family member is currently using the old Apple ID for their iCloud account on their devices, they will need to follow these steps:
    iCloud: Change iCloud feature settings
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH2613
Before you delete the old iCloud account from your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch, turn off each of the features ( contacts, calendars, etc. ) and when prompted, choose to "Keep on My iPhone" if you wish to keep that information.  If your family member doesn't need or want any of this information, then skip down to the selection below to delete the iCloud account completely.
    Turn iCloud features  off
On your iOS device’s Home screen, go to Settings > iCloud, then tap to turn off iCloud features.
When you turn off a feature, you’re asked whether you want your device to keep a copy of your information stored in iCloud for that feature.
Once you have saved the contacts, calendars, etc. that you want from the current iCloud account on your family member's iPhone, then you can delete the old iCloud account from their device.
    Turn off iCloud completely
On your iOS device’s Home screen, go to Settings > iCloud, then at the bottom of the screen, tap Delete Account.
At this point, I would suggest turning off the device, and restarting it.  Then, tap on Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars.  Tap on Add Account.  Tap iCloud.  Now type in your family member's new Apple ID email address and password.

  • Can I have 2 different IPods on the same itunes account and computer?

    I have a nano gen. 4 and a new nano 7.
Can I have them both on my itunes account and computer?
    thanks

Yes. You can easily have multiple iPods on the same iTunes account on the same computer. Each iPod will show up with its name when plugged in, and each iPod can have its own set of preferences (i.e., what music, videos, photos, audiobooks, etc. to sync).
What you can't do easily is use the same iPod on multiple computers with different instances of iTunes. One instance of iTunes has to be "in charge" of an iPod.

  • Can I use 2 different countries alternatively in one iTunes Store account?

Thank you very much in finding time to read (and possibly answer) this query of mine. My iTunes Store account is Philippine-based (even though I live in Dubai right now) ever since I had one and most of my apps we're purchased in that store. However, since a there are a lot of apps and most especially eBooks which I could only get from the US iTunes Store, I am planning to alternatively change the country of my account from Philippines to US and vice versa whenever I need to update apps on a specific store. But my default country would still be in the Philippine iTunes Store. Is that possible? Can I still read my purchased eBooks (from the US iTunes Store) for my iBooks app even if I revert back to the Philippine iTunes Store? Because the eBook selection for the Philippine iBookstore *****! It doesn't offer popular titles or new ones for people to read. Anyway, I've got my auntie's US address for me to be able to make a US iTunes Store account and I'll be using a iTunes gift card for my purchases since I don''t have a US-based credit/debit card with me.
I'd be so grateful to anybody who could give me specific answers to my specific questions on this post.
    Thanks in advance!

It is illegal to access an iTunes Store in one country from another country. I know what you are doing, so I'm informing you that doing so is a violation of law.
"Although you can browse the iTunes Store in any country without being signed in, you can only purchase content from the iTunes Store for your own country. This is enforced via the billing address associated with your credit card or other payment method that you use with the iTunes Store, rather than your actual geographic location."
From here >  The Complete Guide to Using the iTunes Store | iLounge Article
Billing policy is the same for the iTunes and Mac App Stores.

  • Can i have 2 different accounts in the same itunes

I have a iTunes on Windows XP with my daughters iPod and was wondering if I can have my iPad on the same iTunes or do I need to have my iPad on another computer? Thanks

You can associate it with your computer, if you like. If you want to seperate out your content from your daughter's content, the following document may be of assistance:

  • How many devices can you have on 1 icloud account

how many devices can you have on 1 icloud accout?

It's unusual for a whole family to use the same icloud account, since that way everyone gets the same emails, contacts, calenders, etc.  All it takes is one family member to delete a contact by mistake and then it will be deleted from everyone's devices.  Not good.  The usual advice is for every individual to have their own icloud account.
The iTunes store is another issue - everyone can use the same Apple ID to access the same itunes account to download music, apps, etc. without everyone having to buy the items multiple times.

  • I have two different iCloud accounts. I can't sign into photo stream with my personal account and have tried deleting from my iPhone first, then the MacBook Pro. Still won't let me sign in with the personal account. Please help.

I have two different iCloud accounts - business and personal. I can't sign into Photo Stream with my personal account because it says my business account is my primary account. They are separate but equal accounts. I have tried deleting the iCloud account from my iPhone, then my MacBook Pro and signing in again on both devices. The iPhone says that my primary account ismy personal account (which is good) but my MacBook Pro still will not sign into that account so I can use Photo Stream.
Any suggestions? This iCloud stuff is getting annoying.

I downloaded apps purchased with another Apple ID. But my data is missing. What can I do to get them back? I have a different iCloud id.

All apps are tied forever to the Apple ID used to obtain them, that is also true with In-App purchases.
Content bought using one Apple ID cannot be merged or transferred to another Apple ID.

I have 2 different iCloud accounts and would like to delete the account where I have paid for extra iCloud data storage.  Can I transfer the data storage over to my other account?  I am trying to get my iCloud and Apple account with same user name.

You'll have to contact Apple about that.
Their iCloud support page indicates you cannot merge or transfer iCloud accounts.
What do you mean by, I am trying to get my iCloud and Apple account with same user name.

  • Another "This itunes account is set up to use family sharing with a different icloud account than Apple ID "

I saw another thread on the matter but thought I would post because the circumstances are different. Here is how it happened.
I have had an Apple Store account for years and until recently our family has only had our one Mac and my iPhone 4. Thus any purchases we have made on the Apple App Store were made only with this account.
We recently purchased two iPhone 5S's--one for my wife and one for my daughter. Neither had Apple IDs so first we set up my wife's iPhone and created an Apple ID for her. Next we used the Family Sharing feature to set up an account for our "under age 13" daughter.
Because I am still waiting for my iPhone 6 Plus to arrive, and because the iPhone 4 cannot upgrade to iOS 8, and because my Apple ID is the only account with any apps that have been purchased in prior years, I set up my wife as the Family Organizer but when I set up her account, I chose the option to "share purchases from a different account" and entered the information for my Apple ID.
My daughter is able to view my prior purchases on her iPhone, but when my wife tries to view my prior purchases, she receives the message "This iTunes account is set up to use Family Sharing with a different iCloud account than <her Apple ID>."
I hope Apple is reading this. I would be more than willing to help them on this one as this feature is one of the main reasons I put our family on iPhones.

I had this problem. I finally figured it out yesterday. Try this:
On the device that is having trouble seeing purchases, go to Settings>iCloud>Family Sharing> Then tap on the user of the device you are on. Under "Family Purchases" make sure it has the AppleID of the person for that device. Mine originally had my husbands AppleID in there (he is the Organizer), but I changed it to mine. That doesn't make it so that the purchases are under me. The purchases remained under my husband, but my ID had to be in this spot for it to work.
After that, I closed settings, then I went to Settings>iTunes and App Store> click on the AppleID and Sign Out, even if it has the right AppleID in there. Then Sign In again using the AppleID of the person on that device. Again-- even if it has the right ID in there to start, still sign out and back in.
See if they show up. If they don't show up still, try doing a restart (hold down power button and home button until it restarts).
They should show up by then, but if they don't, at that point, try to go into iCloud and Sign Out and back in.
I think the key is having the right ID in "Family Purchases". I hope this works for you.

  • HT204053 can you have two separate iCloud accounts on one iMac device?

can you have two separate iCloud accounts on one iMac device?

You can have only one iCloud "user configuration" per local user on the Mac. Who the local user belongs to doesn't mind. Since it's a local user it's not related with who actually uses it. So let's say you want to set up Photo streaming using your iCloud user, just configure iCloud (under System Preferences) the same way you did on your phone and you're done.
But, beware: if you're only interested in synching photos, uncheck everything else when configuring iCloud on the Mac, otherwise you will merge, for example, your husband contacts, calendar and mail with those on your phone.
If you want to avoid any problems you can easily create another local user on the Mac with your name, under System Preferences, System, Users & Groups. After you create the user, logoff. The Mac will ask if you want to disable autologin (since there's more than one user that can log in now), answer yes and you will be presented with a logon screen. Click on your account name, insert the password and configure iCloud to sync with your phone.
