Can I have a movie as a transition between two submenus? (iDVD)

I was wondering if it's possible to have a movie file as a transition between two menus on iDVD? All I can see is the preset ones (dissolve, droplet, fade through black etc.). What I'd like is to use a very short QT file with a few quick sweeping shots of the content that is going to be showcased on the next menu. I've seen it in quite a few Hollywood film DVDs and wondered if it was possible to do on simple ole' iDVD. Apologies if this question has already been asked. This is my first post so new to this forum lark- I did do a search though but nothing relevant came up...

Although that's an idea, I still don't think there's any physical way to have a movie end and redirect to any menu except the original one on which it was clicked. In other words, playing a movie on an iDVD-made DVD is always a dead end and will come up with the same menu when it ends. I probably need to learn DVD studio pro I'm sure I'd be able to produce more polished stuff too.

There are bluray menu limitations; they don't come up often, and I do not understand some of them. For example, there is a limit in Encore of 32 buttons per menu. (That does not appear to be a problem for you.) There is a limit to the size of all interactive graphics in each title (which includes a menu as a title). I don't understand that one.
I would do a test project, starting over, and building a less complex project that still has the essential features.
I have found Total Media Theater 5 to perform very much like a bluray player. But, yes, ultimately you've got to burn to a disk and test it on a bluray player.

Nothing will happen to your existing purchases. Your computer will remain authorized - you can authorize a single computer to up to five iTunes Store accounts - and the apps and content will remain in place.

As long as you're in the relevant country, yes. Again, the terms of use say that you agree not to even attempt to use an iTunes Store from outside of its country.

When A wants Material, it will check the availability.
If available, it will create Reservation.
If not available, it will create PR and send it to Target system B. Since B is a customer of A, B will, in turn, create PO and send it to its Vendors.
We plan to use ALE/IDoc. I tried to find out the message type for PR. But it's not available.
Can anyone suggest me how to do that?

can Lion server keep my photos in sync between two macs? Where should I keep them, we have Aperture 3 and my wife still likes iphoto '11. I've already tried plenty of 3rd party solutions with little success. I simply want my MBP to "mirror" the imac with the exception of iMovie footage. Is this what the server app can do? I am bad enough with computers, but even thinking about a server gives me migraines!

Hi Gurpit,
If you want to share data between 2 controllers then you can simply do that by providing a data link between the controllers in your data modeler.
If you want to use some methods of one controller in another then you can do it using
wdThis.wdget<controller name>().<method name>();
If your question is something different than this then please elaborate your requirement.

Basic transition between two pictures (MCs)

I'm trying to implement a typical gallery fade transition
between two pictures when a thumbnail is clicked, but the tweens
aren't showing. The individual pic information is loaded from an
XML file, not the library. The correct picture is displayed, but it
just flickers as if I was doing a straight assignment and the
tweens weren't even there.
I've got one MC on the top layer to hold the old image, and
one on the bottom layer to load the new image. When it's loaded I
want to fade out the top and fade in the bottom. At one point while
playing around I did get one of the tweens to work but at the wrong
time, so is this a timing issue?
A nudge in the right direction would be appreciated!

Not really, it was more for organizational purposes when I
was starting out. At this point it's all down in just one layer.
As I understand it, the screen does not update during the
event, only after. Which would explain why things aren't doing what
I expect. But if that's the case, where should the transitions be
implemented? Every example I've found so far has all the images
added to the library at design time, or does a workaround like
having the image slide in and out of the screen so you don't need a
transition.
I tried putting the tweens in the photoLoader complete event
and that didn't work either.

Here is the sitch, I am working on a project where the customer wants to have a 6 different videos on a dvd. For each of the videos he wants to have a movie play for 10 min or so and then have the a still text screen come up with a next button on it. When the user hits the button there is another similar screen with different text. When you hit the next button again, the second part of the movie starts. He has had this done before in another state when he lived there and they told him it was done using menus tied to the movie. I have never done this and was wondering if iDVD can do it or am I going to have to upgrade to DVDSP. Esentially what I need to do is have a movie link to a secondary menu which links to another menu and then have that link to another movie. I hope this is clear. Any help you guys can give would be great.

You can't do that in iDVD. I know you can "tell" DVD Studio Pro to start another movie after playing one. You should pose this question in the DVD Studio Pro Discussion group and see what they say.

That's not the kind of thing you want to do in mid-edit! And it wouldn't work.
To create a new project in PAL - assuming that you have a PAL camcorder, or want to deliver a PAL DVD - you'd go to the iMovie Preferences (..click on the name iMovie HD at top-left of your iMovie screen..) and under the 'General' tab, choose "New Project frame rate: 25 fps", and that will apply to all subsequent projects you create, but it won't alter any current project.
If you are creating a PAL project, be aware that when iDVD6 creates PAL discs it seems to have a nasty habit of messing up audio fades, and giving a quick burst of full-level audio at the fade-out point, and to avoid that you may have to export all your audio from your iMovie project and then re-import it as 'completely set in stone', rather than letting iDVD read the audio settings passed on to it from iMovie, and then making a mess of it here and there.
This doesn't seem to be a problem with NTSC movies handed on to iDVD6.
Oh: you'll also have to set the PAL preference in iDVD, too.

I am trying to put a transition between two clips and it's not going.

I am working in FInal Cut Pro X and until now have had no problem putting trasitions into my timeline. Now I'm trying to put it between two video clips and it's not even moving there. Is there something I might have turned off that's not allowing me to do this

That's the end of the media. No handles for an overlap. You can still do a full overlap transition, but it will shorten the project and shift the content.

How can I calculate the maximum number of days between two dates in a range of dates?

I have a column of dates spanning the couse of a few months. I would like to know if I can calculate the maximum number of days between each row and display the highest number. I currently have another column that calculates the days betwen the rows and I am currently just looking at the totals and highlighting the highest period.
Is this possible? Any help or suggestions are appreciated.

This sounds totally possible, Can you post a screen shot of your table to make responding more focused? If you mean you want to:
A) compute the difference (in days) between two date in the same row, then
B) find the max duration (in days)
Here is my take on this problem:
D2 = C2-B2
select D2 and fill down
F1=MAX(D)
to perform the conditional formatting (to highlight the max duration) select column D, then set up conditional formatting as shown in the 1st image
