Can I have Aperture 2 and 3 installed on the same computer?

I have been using Aperture 2 now for some time and have various libraries with 1000's of images. I want to buy a full Aperture 3 copy from the App store to use for all new photos and leave the old libraries and Aperture 2 as is. Will this be a problem, I am worried the installation will want to overwrite the Aperture 2 version?
Thanks

Hi there TD.... Apple have sorted out my log in so now I have my old original account dating back to 2004.
Eowyn2k has thousands of RAW that he does not want to have to go back and upgrade all libraries in Aperture.
Obviously if he were using iPhoto and creating books from there then templates do change, however, as we both know, there are many third party apps such as iPhoto Manager that do great things that the basic iPhoto does not do. So has a third party developer created a conversion tool so templated images / photo books can be converted with no errors ? However this thread is about Aperture. I merely gave an example about a massive upgrade re CS that is dealing with actual files and not using templates  / books created by Apple which so change from version to version. I know a keen amateur who upgraded to iP 11 and found it could not do half of what they wanted it to that they downgraded to a previous version. They are now an AP junkie.
Apparently this is progress in iP.. LOL.
So it would not surprise me if an individual developer would create an app that would assist an individual in working with opening an AP2 library in AP6 and also keep all effects in place even though it would surprise me if Apple recode the way the burn tool effects an individual image ( for example ) when it is working fine just now. It may be improved but not changed so much that an image would look different if opened in AP6 when created in AP2.
The RAW engine is being improved with new Camera models being released, we all know that. New codecs are being created and old are even improved. The RAW engine will be able to open RAW images, period, no matter how old they are. However once the images have been imported into Aperture and the RAW engine has pulled these into AP then AP is dealing with data so does it matter if the RAW engine has been updated for these older images currently in the lib ? Probably not.
That would be like saying that an image created in Photoshop before Creative Suite was created would openly differently in CS5.
My point was about upgrading libraries that have been archived to DVD or another back up solution.
Nobody would want to upgrade all their archived material.. I would not and seems like Eowyn2k does not want to anyway. Eventually, there will come a time where he will have to upgrade those libraries if he wants to use them making changes and so forth in time to come.
If they are not burnt / archived to DVD and are only on Hard Drives then it is best to upgrade them. I upgraded all my libs from AP2 to AP3 as they were resident on HD's... BUT any libs on DVD and not on HD's are still AP2. If I ever need them again then they will be upgraded as I do not run AP2 anymore... why waste time upgrading libs that are not going to be used again.
I assume when you say iPhoto 9, you do actually mean version 9 which Apple have called iPhoto '11, just checking.
and Eowyn2k.... what's your wedding photo website ?
cheers / J

You can do it. This article from Macworld will be helpful to you:

    I recommend the "brute-force" method.
Just make sure you have your data backed up properly!

You can have them both on the same computer as I and many others have done for years.
Just go ahead and install FCS 3 normally.
There will be absolutely no problems.

How can I have another Itunes account on the same computer for my wife?

In case you didn't fully understand what dallon meant, it means another user account on your computer. You set that up in Windows and then instal iTunes onto that account.
That way, you each have your own desktop and your own itunes. You can link to the songs in the other person's library as well, but you cannot run both iTunes at the same time. (That simply means you need to close it on the first account before opening it on the second account.)

  • Can you have two itunes accounts on the same computer?

Can you have two itunes accounts on the same computer and if so how do you access them without syncing each others music?

Yes. Use separate iTunes libraries(launch iTunes with the Shift(Windows) or Option(Mac OS X) key held down as needed), or different user accounts on the computer.

can you have 2 itunes account on the same computer?

Yes, go to your Windows Control Panel and create another user, log into it, run iTunes and it's ready to rock and roll.
Transfer your content over via USB Key, Dropbox or external drive.
Heck the best thing would be to File > Backup library to disk with a bunch of DVD-R's, therefore you get a backup in the process!
    Good Luck

  • Can i have 2 ipods connected to the same computer and itunes

if i have 2 ipods how do i get all of my music to both of them and can u even connect 2 ipods to the same computer????

If you want all your music on both ipods, just plug them both in and iTunes should automatically sync them. If you want different music on each, then read this: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=300432 or set them both for manual update in the iPod preferences.

  • Can I run Tiger and Leopard on the same computer

    Hi folks.
I've been meaning to install Leopard for ages but have never got round to it (I bought the retail box when it first came out). I have upgraded my RAM to 2GB and my hard drive to 320GB with no problems.
My upgraded hard drive has been partitioned into 2 equal parts of 160GB. These appear on desktop as Mackintosh HD1 and HD2. HD1 is the disk with all my files, music, OS etc and HD2 is empty
I have 2 bootable clones of my present system - one is on a 160GB external and the other is the original 80GB HD that I replaced.
My question is this - can I install Leopard on to my 160GB external HD, then clone it on to the empty HD2. If I do this would I be able to run both Tiger and Leopard on the same Macbook?
Is there any problems with this plan? Would I be able to transfer between the 2 OS and how do I install Leopard on the external drive. Is it just a case of inserting the Leopard DVD and choose the external drive as the target?
    As usual thanks in advance

    # Original Tiger in the internal HD, New Leopard in the external HD.
    # New Leopard in the internal, Legacy cloned Tiger in the external.
    # Split internal, one partition with Tiger, another with Leopard.
Leopard is backwardly compatible with older Macs, just make sure yours fulfills the minimum system requirements, both use the same filesystem format, so each can see the other. You can't run both at the same time, unless you purchase the server version of Leopard and run it virtualized. 99.9% of Firewire external HD's are bootable, some USB's are bootable but have to test first. You can choose which system to boot from by pressing the Option key at boot time, before the chime. Just make sure the external HDD is plugged in and turned on if that's where you want to boot from.
When I migrated my PBG4 from Panther to Tiger, got an external FW HDD, cloned Panther onto it, upgraded using Archive and Install, cleaned up, customized and tested it. When I was satisfied all was ok, cloned the original Panther onto another partition of the external HDD, wiped and tested for failure the internal HDD, then cloned the known good and tested Tiger into it. Only thing that died along the way was my old and ancient Photoshop v2.x, that refused to run on Tiger.

  • How can I have podcasts and music in the same playlist in iOS7?

How can I create an iTunes playlist that contains both music and podcasts and export that playlist to my iPhone? This was once possible. If you download the "Podcast" app, podcasts can still be added  to iTunes playlist which you can listen to on your Mac. But when you sync that playlist to iPhone, it will omit all of the podcasts.
Previously, the workaround was not to download the Pocast app. That way, podcasts remained in iTunes where they could still exist in with music in the same playlist. But as of iOS7, you are required to install the "Podcasts" to be able listen to podcast at all. No more workaround.
Why does this matter? Some people, like me want to drive or exercise while listening to a mix of music and podcasts. Apple's "improvements" have restricted the way that I am able to use iTunes.
I can only think of these solutions:
Convert the podcast into AAC or other format. Then iTunes sees it as "music" and it will stay in the playlist. Cons: 1. Burdensome. 2. Removes the resume feature from the podcast.
Use a different iPhone app. Spotify lets you drag any track (even podcasts) into a playlist and they stay there when synced to the Spotify iPhone app. Cons: 1. Requires Spotify premium service to listen to playlists on iPhone. 2. The resume feature is removed. 3. Very difficult to forward and rewind. 4. Some podcasts are rejected by the Spotify playlist, although its rare. 5. After being imported, the tracked need to be synced to the phone via WiFi (as with all tracks that are not offered via Spotify.)
I am using the Spotify solution but am interested to know if there is an Apple solution. Or maybe I am the only one that wants to mix podcasts with music.

  • Can you have IDM and GRC on the same stack?

HI, I am new to IDM and am a Netweaver Basis professional with some performance experience around GRC. Is it wise to place the two together on the same stack?
The customer will have 190,000 employees and lord knows what the roles will look like at this stage but I'm just a bit worried as I have seen the GRC jobs run for an awfully long time with a lot less users/roles and chew things up a bit
    the right advice appreciated.

    Now thats interesting.
My architect told me that we were using the 7.1 version but in affect it runs on a 7.0 J2EE.... perhaps he is having me on. If you know for sure then let me know.... regardless I'll have a dig in the documentation.
Naturally having Project and dev share with GRC should not be considered an issue but having production, pre-production and validation instances running combined with GRC is my concern as I have seen the GRC really slow up the system. The argument they are saying is the heavy jobs will run overnight and mostly just collection and configuration of GRC during the day. They are intending to run in production with 2 instances of 3 servers.

  • Can I have multiple activations on the same computer?

I have an Lookout Integrator package activated and running. Question is, I
also have a 50 I/O Dev. System. Can I have both the 50 I/O and the
Integrator package activated at the same time, and which one would come up
    when I start Lookout?

I would think, lookout starts and uses the "best"/most featured license.
