Can I have my camera record HDV to tape while OnLocation records a SD version ?

I want to shoot my video in HDV. But for now im downconverting to SD for a standard DVD project.
Is this even possible ?
Is there anyway to record 2 at the same time ( example: HDV & SD ) ?
I want to have the HDV recorded to miniDV for blu-ray someday.

Maybe someday they will make this a feature on cameras now that more and more are going to HD.
Then again maybe we could get rid of SD all together and move to HD.
I know for me when watching TV if i have a choice I only watch HD.

Hi,
You will have to enable project manufacturing if you want to collect manufacturing cost on a project. Once you create a project, add this project to a project manufacturing organization through a PJM responsibility. Once you associate project and PJM org you will be able to put the PJM organization in the sales order line created on a Project sales order in Oracle OM. Also, mention the project number in that sales order.
Once this sales order is shipped, run the cost collection program and it will bring in the manufacturing costs to project.

You should be able to disable Force Click on the new MacBook Pros, as noted in the following article:
To turn off Force click, deselect the “Force click and haptic feedback” checkbox. This will disable the functionality described in the Trackpad preferences pane.

If you have a camera that is newer than what was supported in that version then you will either have to upgrade to the current version of Photoshop or else you can use the free DNG converter to create digital negative copies of your raw images. Those will open with what you have now. There will not be any more updates for Camera Raw for Photoshop CS3. That version is out of production and is no longer being supported or updated by Adobe.

Archiving options for HDV from tape

Would appreciate some advice please
I have many hours of HDV on tape from my Sony HC3. 1080i format.
When I import directly into FCPx using a firewire 800 connection, the files are 1440x1080 according to the inspector in Quicktime.. 34 minutes consumed about 9 GB. No problem
When I alternatively import using a Blackmagic H.264 Prorecorder, and source the HDMI output from the camera, I am recording files at 1920x1080 according to the inspector in Quicktime, yet the files look to be the same dimension...! 34 minutes, consumed 5.3 GB
I cant see much difference in detail at all, and the Blackmagic files to H264 look more contrasty and pleasing
Given that I am not trying to extract flat files from granding from this source (they wont tolerate much change anyway before they fall apart) I wonder whether I am better archiving the files imported directly to FCPx or the H264 out the HDMI. I dont really care about the storage space (I have plenty)
Would appreciate feedback from anyone who has genuine expertise in this area

I have activated Online Archiving (on-premises) feature for 3 accounts on our Exchange 2010 and set them up with Retention Policy which Move to archive items aged more than 6 months and all works fine and old Items automatically being moved to Online Archive
mailbox which just appeared after enabling this on server for above 3 accounts.
The server is Exchange 2010 and clients are Outlook H&B 2013 which comes with DELL systems.
We already purchased Enterprise Licenses as well and have access to Microsoft Download pages to get Outlook 2013.
But since above is working just fine, we really would like to know, if we don't install Outlook 2013 and activate it with that license what in fact we are missing in terms of functionalities regarding Online Archiving!

Most likely you have Office 2004 which are PPC-only applications and will not work in Lion. Upgrade to Office 2011. Other alternatives are:
Apple's iWork suite (Pages, Numbers, and Keynote.)
Open Office (Office 2007-like suite compatible with OS X.)
NeoOffice (similar to Open Office.)
LibreOffice (a new direction for the Open Office suite.)

Did you remove Quicktime X?
On a normal install Quicktime 7 is installed in the Utilities folder and Quicktime Pro in the main Applications folder.
You will need to reinstall OS X to get Quicktime X back if you have deleted it.
I notice yor profile says 10.5.8. Quicktime X is only available on 10.6 and above.

I don't think you can connect a printer since you won't have the printer drivers. I use FingerPrint from collobos.com to print to my non-AirPrint printers.

How can a session be setup between two MacBook Pro's at different locations on high speed Internet connections, be setup to have a live recording session in Logic?

My partner and I live on opposite sides of the valley here in Phoenix. About 50 miles apart one way. We are Musicians and are working on a commercial for television, and would like to know if there is a way, between FaceTime and Logic, that we can configure our MacBook Pro's to record sessions together without having to be at the same house? When we FaceTime, he can hear my keyboard through his headphones, but we can't seem to get the signal routed into Logic and register to a track when its record enabled. Is there a way for us to save gas, and record at seperate locations, so he can engineer me and I can engineer him, while we build this project in Logic and Final Cut? Here is what we are using, we have nearly identicle setups, which was planned so we might be able to do something like this. Both of us are using Mid 2012 15" MacBook Pro's with 2.6GHz Intel i7 processors and 16GB RAM. The only difference between the two MacBooks is that his has an Optical Drive, but I removed mine and replaced it with a 2nd SSD Drive, so I have two Samsung 840 Pro's each with 512GB in my MacBook Pro. His just has one Samsung 840 Pro with 512GB. We both use Focusrite Saffire Liquid 56 Firewire Audio Interfaces, and we both use Logic Studio 9 Academic. I don't know if you need to know what we are using in order to help us figure out how to configure the MacBooks for a live session, so I figured I would give you those details just in case. If you need any more information, just let me know? Oh, we both have high speed cable Internet connections. Mine is 150Mbps speed which is the absolute fastest I can get in my area. And his is only a 50Mbps speed line.
Again, what we are looking to do is have a LIVE recording session, in Logic, with him at his house and me at my house. When we FaceTime each other, we can pretty much hear each others keyboards as if they were part of the conversation, and as crystal clear as we can hear our own when recording, but we can't seem to record enable an Audio track in Logic and route that keyboard signal into Logic and record it so we can engineer each other without either one of us having to drive to the others house, to be there to do it. If any of this even makes sense, I'm not quite sure how to better explain it. So hopefully you get what I mean, otherwise just say so, and I will try to do a better job explaining it. :-)
Anyone who can help us with this little problem would be greatly appreciated, and quite a hero in these two humble Musicians Worlds!! So from both of us, THANK YOU in advance for any input you might be able to give us. I look forward to hearing any and all suggestions.

You and ALOT of people are attempting to do this, myself included.
Unfortunately at this point (to my knowledge) it's a pretty CRAP setup involved that will likely leave you frustrated.
HOWEVER:
A few things CAN be done:
IF you are getting live audio from your partner over the internet, you can re-direct that audio directly into Logic using a program called SoundFlower.
There are a few alternatives to SoundFlower, like JackTrip, and.....(the name eludes me)
(SoundFlower is from a company called Cyling 74 who also makes Max MSP. )
Once in Logic, you set your audio inputs to the track to be Soundflower. (either 16 inputs, or in this case 2)
That all being said, regardless to speed, you are still going to experience latency in the connection, and THAT is the part that will likely drive you to the mad house.
THIS all being said, I believe there are websites out there that are set up to actually do this kind of thing, (at least there WERE) but likely membership costs, and other "hidden" problems that you only learn about after you have signed on the dotted line. (Hopefully I am wrong?)
If you don't need to do a "live jam", there are always solutions like DropBox that work very well for exchanging large files quickly.
If you want to record live MIDI input from his keyboard, I am unaware of any solutions for this.
Due to the popularity of the iPad, you might want to look into the App store, and see if there is something available.

Reading data from a table which can have millions of record

Hi,
I need to write a query in my report that can be able to fetch records from a z table that have arount 20 lac (= 2 million) records. As far i knoew we can not handle such a huge amount of data in our internal tables. because the size of internal table is fixed and that can be increased only by basis persons.
So can anybody tell me the approach that i should follow such that i can split the data from this table.
Or any other approach is also welcome.
Please reply ASAP when you have the time.

reduce the data selected to the fields you really need, avoid select *. See online help on SELECT, addition PACKAGE SIZE.
select field1 field2 field3
into corresponding fields of table lt_table package size nnn WHERE ...
* process lt_table
endselect.

How Can I Have Totals On Only One Record?

Hi. I don't have a clue where to start with my query. I thought I had it, but turns one I'm missing something.
I have a master table with three detail tables. In the detail tables, it is possible to have multiple records. In one of the detail tables, I'd like to have a result record for each one present. For the other two tables, I just want a single
summation. I'm seeing the summation on each record and that is throwing my report totals off.
I have "work order history" as my master. I have "equipment" as my detail. For each work order, I want a record that shows the equipment number within the equipment table. I have "labor" as a detail.
I simply need a sum of the total cost. And I have parts as detail, I need a sum of the cost of parts.
I'm hoping to see something like this in my result set but I don't have a clue how to do it.

Basically my totals end up doubled or tripled with the current query structure. I only want them on the first record. And it is possible that no equipment records exist at all and in that case I need a null for the equipment number but need totals
from the labor and parts tables.

Please post DDL, so that people do not have to guess what the keys, constraints, Declarative Referential Integrity, data types, etc. in your schema are. Learn how to follow ISO-11179 data element naming conventions and formatting rules. You are not even
close! Temporal data should use ISO-8601 formats. Code should be in Standard SQL AS much AS possible and not local dialect.

So wrong! The terms master and detail are not RDBMS; that is COBOL and network database terms. I see you are still using punch cards with only uppercase letters.
Rows are not records! TOTALLY DIFFERENT CONCEPT! The rows in a table all have the same structure; this is the nature of a set.
I see a repeated group users in violation of 1NF. Date used AS an attribute instead of an attribute property. More LEFT OUTER JOINs in one query than I use in entire applications. Think about “DM.dateclosed, DM.timeclosed” as a design flaw. Why use two columns
for one measuremetnt? This error is called attribute splitting and it violates ISO-11179 rules. An SQL programmer would have a single data element: “DM.closure_timestamp” instead.

Did you mean referenced and referencing table? Where is the DRI between them?
But we have no DDL, so it is probably worse.

Yep! Your whole approach is wrong. Can you throw this out and do it right or do you nee to update your resume and move back to a COBOL shop? We can probably kludge it, but performance and data integrity will be awful.

The D800 is listed as needing ACR 6.7/7.1. That raises a red flag that might indicate that 7.1 is needed. Since that requires CS6 you can not use that version. If others confirm you need 7.1 you either have to upgrade or use the DNG converter with latest version, which I think is 8.1.
