  • Database link between Oracle Standard Edition and Oracle Enterprise Edition

    Hi,
I am looking at setting up a data transfer process between an Oracle 11g Enterprise Edition database and an Oracle 11g Standard Edition database. Database links would be required each way.
I heard once that this is not permitted as connecting Standard to Enterprise via a DB Link means that the Standard Edition database would now need an Enterprise license.
I have searched around but can't find anything to confirm this. Am I being mislead by this information? Is it permitted to
connect Standard to Enterprise via a DB Link?

connect Standard to Enterprise via a DB Link?I would be shocked if it were not permitted due to licensing issues. When a db-1 has a link pointing to db-2, as far as db-2 is concerned db-1 is just another client .. no different than sqlplus. If you have an Enterprise Edition database, of course it will need to be properly licensed. But that doesn't mean all of its clients (including a SE database) have to be EE licensed.
But even my reply is just something you read on the internet. Licensing questions can only be definitively answered by Oracle itself. Ultimately you will need to put your hands on an official Oracle document or a written statement from someone authorized to make such statements.

  • De-install oracle enterprise edition 11g

Hello, I was installing oracle enterprise edition 11.2g and my pc shuted down. It installed but I don't know if I should have done any other setting, so I want to de-install it.
I run the command Deinstall in the command prompt and it asks me to write : Specify all Single Instance Listeners that are to be de-configured [LISTENER]:
Can you tell me how I can find which listeners I should write on ? Thank you.

Hie the "Enter" button to accept defaults - the default listener name is LISTENER, so this should suffice

  • How to determine which packs are installed on the Oracle Enterprise Edition

IS there any way to determine which option packs have been installed on 10g oracle enterprise edition . i don't seem to have grid control installed ?
Is there some easier way to determine this ?

No orainventory directory found However, it's the best way to know what are the installed product against your ORACLE_HOME.
You can run the OUI and look for the installed components if any.

  • Identify db-functionality only available in Oracle Enterprise Edition

    Hi
I have an application with lots of PL/SQL logic. The development database for this application is Oracle Enterprise Edition and now we are going to install the application in an Oracle Standard Edition database at customer site.
To be prepared I want to verify if I use (and remove) any db-functinality only available in Enterprise Edition.
Is it possible to start an Oracle Enterprise Edition database in “Standard Edition mode”? Or is there any other way to scan the code?

After installing the EE software, IMO there is no way to start it in SE mode. As Data dictionary metadata stuff is different for EE and SE.

Can i install oracle express edition in VMware cloud
VMware are saying you need licence for using oracle in cloud
but they are showing pricing for Enterprise edition
    and i am clueless

I've moved your question over to the Cloud Computing > Oracle Database Cloud Service space it I think it's likely the best place for it.  Certainly the community feedback and suggestions forum (not for product related questions) was NOT the correct place, as that forum is NOT for product related questions, as it states in it's forum space title.

  • Installing BPA on remote Oracle Enterprise Edition

    Hello,
We recently bought the BPA suite.
We now have a Oracle DB where we have installed the BPA Repositary.
Now I am trying to install the client.
    When I launch the OracleBPA.exe from CD1-10.1.3.271679 {The directory on the CD}. It gives me only 2 option ;
    a. Oracle Lite and b. Oracle Express Edition.
No option for any other DB.
Q1. Are these the only 2 options?
Q2. How do I point the BPA installer at the remotely installed Oracle Enterprise Edition?
    thanks in advance
    -- Sanjiv

Is this question still needing an answer?
    If so:
You don't have to get your connection to the database during the installation. The BPA wants to know where the LOCAL Database is and if it's a Lite or XE. If you are working mostly on the Server i would do the installation with the Lite version.
Once you have installed the BPA Suite on the computer, start it, change to the explorer module, right-click on "server" and choose "add server". In the wizard enter the name or the IP of the server with the database. That's it!

  • APEX ON ORACLE ENTERPRISE EDITION

    Hi
Is it possible to install Apex on Oracle Enterprise Edition, and if yes, how? Is it simple enough to run scripts or does it takes something more?

You need some kind of HTTP server: if you want a simple installation you have the choice of either using the Embedded PL/SQL Gateway (EPG) within the Oracle Enterprise Edition (same mechanism as with XE) or installing the Oracle HTTP server with MOD_PLSQL; instructions for either option are in the installation guide.
There is also the new/beta version Application Express Listener (as mentioned on the front page of this forum). I've not used it.

  • Win2000 & Oracle Enterprise Edition R2, V8.1.6 Install Problems

    Hi,
    Environment:
    Win2000 + SP2
    Oracle Enterprise Edition R2, V8.1.6
    PII-300(256MB) & AMD Athlon 1.33(512MB)
I've tried installing Oracle on both machines with exactly the same results. They are new Win2000 installation.
When I run the install program I get to the file copy stage where it seems to behave normally to about 56% then all of a sudden it jumps to 100% and exits the installer without any messages.
When I look at the log the last line reads:
Starting install install phase 2 of component Oracle SQLJ
I downloaded and updated to the latest version of the Java SDK from Sun after someone suggested this could be the problem but it made no difference.
Anyone have any ideas why this happens and a possible solution would be greatly
    appreciated,
    Etienne.

same problem here... i have an athlon 1.4ghz
did you find any solutions to this?

  • Oracle Enterprise Edition Database Option Licensing

Does anyone know if there is an official Oracle document regarding licensing of Oracle Enterprise Edition Licensing options?
If you for example install Oracle Enterprise Edition, do a standard install, a number of Enterprise options get installed, for example Partitioning and OLAP.
Both of those options are license extras.
So if they are installed but not used, should they still be licensed?
Does anyone know the official line on this?
    Regards
    Steven Miller

    Welcome to the forums !
AFAIK, as long as these extra options are not used, you should be ok - but the best/correct answer will be given by your Oracle salesperson. Answers offered in these forums will not stand up in a court of law :-)

If you do not plan to use these options, it is best to turn them off or disable them.

  • Oracle Enterprise Edition for CentOS 5.5, 64-bit ?

    Hi
We are going to install Oracle enterprise edition 11gR2 on CentOS 5.5, 64-bit servers for 2-node RAC/ASM setup. I guess we should just need to download "Linux x86 -64" from oracle software down page http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/enterprise-edition/downloads/index.html. Should that work for CentOS 5.5, 64-bit, since there is no specific version for CentOS 5.5, 64-bit? And that Linux x86-64 works for all different kind of linux 64bit?
