Can I have same Apple ID on two devices

I have an IPad and a MacAir which both need Apple ID's.  I had the same ID on both but now
am changing servers and want to change my ID names.  I was able on one device, but it wont
change on the IPad.  Suggestions???

To change the iCloud ID on your iPad you have to go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, provide the password for the old ID when prompted to turn off Find My iDevice, then sign back in with the ID you wish to use.  If you want to keep your photo stream photos, save them to the camera roll before deleting the account.

  • Can I have same Itunes library in two computers?

I would like to have the same library in two computers.
If I use home share to import the whole library, Does that mean the library will disappear from the "old" computer? or
Will I be able to keep the same library in both computers?
What will happens when I add music to one of the libraries? Will they update? or Do I have to do it manually? Can playlist be imported from home share too? and can I have same playlists in the two computers?
    Thanks!

Again without firsthand experience my understanding is iTunes copies (not moves) just the media from the Home Shared drive and adds it to your other library as a new item.  It will not affect the original library.
As for syncing idevices, they are intended to sync with just the original library and only one library at a time.  Apple deliberately designed it this way, and not so you could plug them into a new computer and transfer the contents from the device to the computer (see exception below).  More information:
Some of the information below has subsequently appeared in a document by turingtest2: Recovering your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device - https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3991
Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer was planned with you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself properly backed up against loss. Syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is iTunes Store purchased content.
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848 - only purchases from iTunes Store
For transferring other items from an i-device to a computer you will have to use third party commercial software. Examples (check the web for others; this is not an exhaustive listing, nor do I have any idea if they are any good):

  • Can I use same apple ID on two IPads? And how do I name new IPad..Thank you in advance for any help

Can I use same Apple ID on my old and my new IPad....and if so, how do I name the new iPad. want to keep games on one iPad and use the other for emails etc. Many thanks

    Hi,
Yes you can definitely use the same Apple ID regardless of how many apple devices you have. This way you can install the apps that you have already purchased.
It really does not matter what name your iPad is. You usually rename them under Settings>General>About>Name>
Just a note if you use the same icloud apple id as well, both devices will recieve the imessages and facetime calls.
    Hope that helps!

I looked at this post last night and assumed that the OP had decided he did not have a question; however, since you decided to post......
Mac or iDevice, is forever 'connected' with the AppleID
actually, that is not correct. It can be wiped and disassociated; it is any OS or app obtained at the app store which is tethered to the Apple ID used to obtain it, not the hardware. See the SLA.
If a device was tethered forever, it could never be re-sold - obviously.
As for the OP's question: I am not sure as I could not find any reference in the legal documents available, but I believe it is not possible - one Apple ID = one account.

  • Can I have my apple purchases in two different iTunes library's on two of my separate Macs?

I have two Mac computers, and I have one of them logged in with one of our apple ID's. Is there anyway I can also have the purchases from that apple ID put on my other Mac, while still keeping them on the computer that they are on?

Yes. You can either move the files manually(this won't work for rented movies), or turn on automatic downloads.

  • Can I use same apple id on two iPhones

    Hi,
I just bought a new iPhone 4S for my wife and I have an iPhone 4. We would want to use the same Apple id on both the iPhones.
    Is it possible?
Thanks in advance for your suggestion.

Just that if I set different Apple IDs, will the data (like photos) etc flow from one iPhone to another automatically?
No, the phones would need to be using the same iCloud account for PhotoStream to stream the same pictures to both phones, however it will keep your contacts, calendars and other iCloud data separate.  This article may help: http://www.macstories.net/stories/ios-5-icloud-tips-sharing-an-apple-id-with-you r-family/.

You can sync as many ipods/ipads/iphones as you like to one computer.

  • Apple ID Issues -- Using same apple ID on two devices...

I just got an Macbook Air. My daughter has been using my Apple ID to Facetime with her friends on her iPod Touch.  Now, my Macbook and her iPod are using the same address (my email address) to Facetime.  This is very confusing.  How do I fix this?
Do I change the Apple ID on my Macbook or on her iPod?  If I change the Apple ID on her iPod will she lose all her apps and game progress?  (You know game progress is important to a little girl!)
    Thanks!

Both accounts can be authorised on the same iTunes (Store > Authprise This Computer), but only one account can be signed in at a time for downloading or purchasing content - if you want to purchase or download with the other id then you'll need to sign out of the current one (Store > Sign Out) and then sign in with the other one (Store > Sign In)
You can also have your own separate iTunes libraries on the same computer : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1495

  • Can i have one apple id and 3 devices?

So, I have an iphone.  My children have itouches.  We use one account and have 1 apple id.  I do this so that all apps, music, videos can be shared.  If, there is a different way to do that please share They are using imessage and I have only their individual address selected under settings but all texts are going to all devices.  I want to recieve and see all texts on my iphone but don't want them all going to both itouches.  Advice?  Thanks!

I had previously done this...It does not work...they can still see each others texting threads...If I create new apple ids for each itouch can we still share all apps and music?

  • Can two people share the same Apple ID on two different iPhones and maintain different passwords?  Yes, there is more to the story.

I have an iMac, and iPhone.  I've had my Apple ID for a few years.
My wife got an iPhone 4S a few months back and the salesperson at Verizon set her Apple ID the same as mine, but gave her a different password.  I don't know if this was ok, but that is what happened.
So, yesterday, we both upgraded to IOS6 and I had no problem logging in to my iPhone with my Apple ID.  When my wife went to log in, she was told that she was entering the wrong password. We entered the password over and over again and still was wrong.
The question is... can two people share the same Apple ID on two different iPhones and maintain different passwords?  (I have the feeling her iPhone is thinking that since it's my Apple ID, it wants my password.)
If not, can I still set up a new Apple ID for her even through she's had the iPhone for a few months?
    Thanks.

    Hi
You shold follow your feelings, its probably right most of the time.
You can have 5 different devices hucked upp to one Apple ID. What I have done is that my wife and I have one Apple ID, when I bye a new app on my phone, She gets it to. Thats nice.
You can allways set upp a new Apple ID for your wife.

  • HT4759 can you use the same apple id for two phones on the cloud?

can you use the same apple id for two phones on the same verizon account and if so can you keep there contacts etc. separate?

If you want to keep your contacts and other data you sync with iCloud separate, you'll have to create separate iCloud accounts, which will require different IDs.  If you share the same iCloud account/ID on multiple devices, the synced data will be merged and will appear on all devices syncing with the shared account.
You can still share the same ID for iTunes; it doesn't have to be the same as the one used for iCloud.
