Can I Have Things on my Apple TV, but not have them on my itunes

I was wondering because space is a concern for me on my laptop, Could I delete things on my itunes on my lap top but still keep them on my Apple TV?
Videos, TV shows and movies take up a lot of space and I know you can do it with an ipod by manually uploading music to it on itunes and I wondered if you could do the same for the Apple TV?

I have a tip for storing large files on the Apple TV and not on your laptop, and still use iTunes to keep synced.
I keep a folder of video files on my external hard drive that I'd like to have on my Apple TV and not stored on my laptop. Lots of movies and TV shows.
1. I connect my external hard drive to my laptop that contains my video files.
2. Open iTunes, open File > Preferences > Advanced Tab
3. Un-check "Copy files to iTunes Media folder when adding to library"
4. Keep checked "Keep iTunes Media folder organized", close iTunes Preferences
5. I drag a movie from my external hard drive into iTunes (this imports just the info about the movie, and not the actual file, which stays on your hard drive).
6. Go back to iTunes Preferences and re-check "Copy files...."
7. With the external hard drive connected to my laptop, I sync that movie to the Apple TV (copy it to the Apple TV), via the Apple TV sync page under the devices section in iTunes.
8. Now you can disconnect the external hard drive. The movie in iTunes will get a little ! icon, indicating that iTunes cannot find that movie file (because it's not stored on the laptop, but it's on the hard drive, therefore you cannot play the video on your laptop)
9. When using the Apple TV, your video should be available on the Apple TV because it was synced over.
Using this method will allow you to watch your videos anytime on the Apple TV (because they were copied to the Apple TV - no computer turned on), and also on your Mac via iTunes (but only when your external drive is connected to your mac).

I can download emails, but not open them.

I recently updated Mozilla Thunderbird to the latest version (31.5.0), and started having problems with three of my five email addresses. Specifically, I can download my messages to Thunderbird ... but not open them! When I click a message, it opens a new tab, which remains blank. I've given one of those tabs a half hour while working on other things, and the email never opened. Also, the program makes my laptop sound like it's running a marathon while it tries to simply open an email.
The two addresses that work fine are Gmail addresses. The three that are having trouble are specific to three domains that I own. (i.e. myname @ mywebsite.com).
I've searched for the answer, and haven't run across anyone else talking about this problem.
I was meaning to set up these addresses through Google Apps anyway, so I connected one of the problem accounts to Google. I can now handle those emails online at Gmail, but I like the Thunderbird interface better. I had hopes that running this addy through Gmail would magically make Thunderbird work again (since Thunderbird wasn't having any problems with my @gmail addresses), but no luck.
On top of all this, when I get fed up with Thunderbird and close it ... the program won't open again unless I restart my laptop.
Any ideas?

Just to add, you can also try:Main Menu > Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > All > Email > Clear Data > You will likely need to setup the email again after doing this. What are your thoughts about this forum? Let us know by doing this short survey.

icloud just keeps bringing up my old email address & asking for my old password which doesn't exist anymore and when I try to sign out of icloud it wants my old password, when I tried to change my primary email back to the old one it wants me to verify it through an email address that doesn't exist. Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that you updated your Apple Id and password but now you are being prompted for the old information in iCloud. You are on the right track by changing the Apple ID back to the previous email address temporarily so that you can sign out. You should not need to verify the email address. After you edit the Apple ID back to the old email address and then sign out of iCloud on your iPhone, edit the Apple ID back to the address you would currently like to use. There is no need to change the password again, only the email address, unless you prefer to update the password again.

Change your Apple ID temporarily
If signing out and back in to iMessage or FaceTime didn't help, try these steps:
Change your Apple ID to the Apple ID you used previously. You shouldn't need to verify the email address.
Tap Settings > iCloud. Complete these steps only if the Find My [Device] setting is turned on:
Scroll down and tap Sign Out, then tap Sign Out to confirm. If you're using iOS 7 or earlier, tap Delete Account, then tap Delete to confirm.
Tap Keep on My [Device] or Delete from My [Device]. In either case, your data remains in iCloud and will be updated on your device when you sign in to iCloud again.
Enter the password for your previous Apple ID.
Change your Apple ID to the new email address that you want to use. You'll need to verify the email address.
Return to Settings > iCloud and sign in with your new Apple ID.

What I was really trying to find out is if there is a limit on switching iTunes accounts - I have a vague memory of reading that changing from one iTunes store account to another was going to be limited in some way, but maybe this is on iTunes itself? Or perhaps my memory is incorrect? We have two iTunes accounts and swap back and forth regularly on our iPhones and iPads to buy and update apps without a problem. I couldn't find any reference to it on a quick search yesterday so what I have done with the AppleTV is leave it set to one account, and we watched the other account content via my Macbook.

I've tried both. First, I tried on my pc, where iTunes had installed iCloud when it last updated. I have iTunes installed on this computer (and on my iPad and iPhone), but that wasn't the issue.
So I went online, thinking I needed a separate iCloud Apple ID, but it prompted me for my current Apple ID and gave me the message about my ID being "valid" but not an iCloud account," which, lol, was what it had asked me to do in order to create one. You need to be running Mac OS X 10.6.8 or newer to sync the iPhone 5; this may require buying a Mac OS X 10.6 DVD from the online Apple Store. OS upgrades aren't covered by the warranty.

I got some help from an apple assistant on the phone. It is kind of round about way to get in.
Here is what he said to do and it is working for me...
a. on the device that is asking you for the security questions go to "settings", > "store" >
      tap the Apple ID and choose view"Apple ID" and sign in.
b. Tap on payment information and add a credit/debit card of your preference then select
      "done", in the upper right corner
c. sign out and back into iTunes on the device by going to "settings"> "store" > tap the
      Apple ID and choose "sign-out" > Tap "sign -in" > "use existing Apple ID" and you
      should be asked to verify your security code for the credit /debit card and NOT the
      security questions.
d. At this time you can remove the card by going back in to edit the payment info and
      selecting "none" as the card type then saving the changes by selecting "done". You
      should now be able to use your iTunes store credit without answering the security
      questions.
It's working for me ...I just have to put in my 3 digit security pin from the credit card I am using.

You can't have content in iCloud without having it on your phone, you will need to look at deleting items from your device that you don't need. Movies and TV shows from iTunes are possibly a good start because they tend to be large and can be redownloaded at a later date.

How can I have multiple users on iTunes (in order to connect to a shared office iPad)? Currently each of us has our own iTunes account, so I've made an "all office" Apple ID. However, I can't seem to get two different accounts (my personal and the office) to work on my machine. Even when I login as "the office", my personal library is still showing. Additionally, when I try to setup with a first-time use in iTunes, I get an error that I don't meet the minimum age requirement - no matter what birthdate I enter!

The library exists regardless of which user is logged in.
The only way around that is to create different user accounts on the computer.
There is no way to have 20 unique iTunes users access a shared iTunes under a single login on the computer.

1. You did not get an error message telling you that your iPhoto library was getting full. You got a message telling you that your HD was getting full, right?
OS X needs about 10 gigs of hard drive space for normal OS operations - things like virtual memory, temporary files and so on.
Without this space your Mac will slow down as the OS hunts for space on the disk, files will be fragmented, also slowing things down, apps will crash and the risk of data corruption - that is damage to your files, photos, music - increases exponentially.
Your first priority is to make more space on that HD. Nothing else can be done until you do.
Purchase an external HD and move your Photos and Music to it. Both iPhoto and iTunes can run perfectly well with the Library on an external disk.
Your Library has been damaged from being run on an overfull disk.
How much free space on it now?
