Can I highlight text on a webpage?

Help instructions are not correct for lighlighting text on a webpage. They say to go to safari preferences, general, and select the highlight color, but I don't see anything about highlighting or colors.

System Preferences > General > Highlight Color
Default is Blue.
Click inside the box and select the color desired from the popup menu.
It is System Preferences not Safari Preferences in where you select the highlight color.

If it wasn't OCRed in Acrobat then you can only use the non-text commenting tools, like the Square or Polygon. Press Ctrl+E to open the Properties bad and you could make it look like a text highlight annotation.

Can't highlight text in blue to edit

My Pages has just started doing this recently. When I go to highlight text it only highlights in gray and not the usual blue. And of course it will not let me edit. Has any one seen this or have any idea what is causing this?
I have an iMac running 10.10 and I am using Pages 4.3 I also have Pages 5.5.2 open because I need to view other files.

Blue is normal selected text.
Orange is placeholder text.
Grey can be a link. Of course it doesn't have to be a link, just declared as one. Clicking on it should have the Link edit dialog pop up, click on edit and remove.

Can't highlight text ( text tool flickering )

I am trying to simply highlight text and when I do it just flickers between the text tool and the hour glass. You can select as if you are going to select the text but then it doesn't highlight. So, the only way I can change colors, fonts, etc. is by opening the editor.

ok, i fixed my issue by going to:
Program Files
Fireworks CS3
Right Click on the fireworks.exe file and the go to compatibility
I changed mine to Windows 2000 and it started working again. Hope this helps someone.

Can't Highlight Text

I haven't figured out a way to highlight text in any of the Pages versions. By highlight I mean color the background behind specific words in a sentence, much like people do with a yellow highlighting pen in a book. Microsoft Word has this feature and calls it highlighting. Under the fonts inspector, the document color is always applied to the entire line, I haven't figured out it there is a way to restrict it to particular characters on the line.
This is a pretty common feature, I would be surprised if its not supported.

What? I can't Highlight and Copy from Webpages???

Why can't I highlight, copy text from webpages?
If I find a URL I want to visit on a page but doesn't have a hyperlink, I want to select it and put it into the URL command line yet I can't even select the text...okay, how about typing it directly to the command line while reading it from the page? Nope, the moment I start typing anything it blocks out the wepage an starts suggesting irrelavent websites!
This is so backwards from using my regular computer! It's suppose to be a business phone, but you can't do any online business on it!

You can copy and paste from websites, press and hold on the text for a few seconds until the text is highlighted and then press and hold on that text and choose copy on the right side. To paste, press and hold and choose paste on the right side.

I am trying to open a PDF document in browser using Adobe PDF plug-in for IE 9. The plugin version is 10.x
I need to highlight certain text in the PDF document ( which is searchable) programmatically. For example, when a user selects certain text on the web-page, we want to automatically highlight that in the PDF document.

I don't think this is a question one can answer by simply downloading the SDK. And even if one reads all the documentation (it rarely happens for obvious reasons), it is not easy to reach an answer because its explanation is not trivial at all.
In my own opinion, this is right the type of question to be put and (hopefully) answered in a Forum.
Now, I am not sure about the correct answer but I will give one hint.
If I am not wrong, the Internet Explorer, IE, PDF viewer by Adobe is actually a .dll file which is put under IE once Adobe Reader is installed. A custom plug-in for Reader or Acrobat is also a .dll file (Windows) but its extension is .api and it needs to be copied under Reader or Acrobat (or both). Therefore, I don't see how we can merge the IE viewer .dll with a custom plug-in .api. Though maybe technically possible, I don't think it is something we can do.
If above reasoning is correct, the answer to the question is No.

Can't highlight text in mail message.

After installing ML, I can't click and drag over text to highlight the text for copy funtion. When I try to do that, I get a little mail envelope icon which would allow me to drag the whole message to a folder.
Workaround is to double click the message in the message list to open it in a new windows.
Using Apple mail version 6.0 in "Classic View" mode.

I'll say its annoying.. Par for the course.
Why do the developers of this program constantly and consistenly choose to make changes to things that need NO changes?
Between this and the attachment bug its getting almost impossible to use Apple Mail let alone be productive.

I can't highlight text

When I right click and drag the cursor to highlight- nothing happens

Does that happen all the time or only on specific pages?
On some page that have a background image with a white background the selection color may not be very noticeable, only if you look good you can see a slight change in the color of the selected text and no background color change.
If that didn't apply then start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
* Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
