Can I hook my Dish Network receiver to Apple TV like the Logitech Revue?
So I have two iPads and an iPhone in my household and I really want an Apple TV so that I can use the airplay feature. The only thing is, I wish the apple tv would link to my Dish Network receiver like the Logitech Revue will so that I don't have to change inputs on the tv just to use two different devices. I would go buy the Logitech Revue right now but I'm not sure if there is any sort of AirPlay feature on it. So I guess I'm asking two things:
1: Is there AirPlay on Logitech Revue? (I know it's an apple community, but it is going toward me making my decision.)
2: is there any way to link the Apple TV with my Dish reciever?

I don't really know about the Revue, but the specifications page on Logitech's website make no mention of AirPlay.
No you can't link the receiver into the Apple TV.

After I connect my iPhone (3GS 5.0.1) to any Ad-hoc wireless Network then walk away out of the reach of my wifi network, my iPhone can't find any wifi Network afterwards, only by turning off the iPhone completely and turning on again.
switching off wifi and on again or going into airplane mode did't help!
This problem happens only with ad-hoc wifi networks not with normal ones.

Sorry, but the 169.x.x.x IP address is internally generated by the iPod (and iPhone) and indicates that a network has been detected but no IP address has been issued. Your friends iPhone was not connected to your ad hoc network either - it connected to the internet through the 3G network.
You should read through the Vista help screens on ad hoc networking for some insight how this works. You should be able to get some ideas there.
In the mean time, $40 or less will buy you a very capable wireless router with four Ethernet ports and will simplify your network tremendously. Having used Windows ICS for a long time, the addition of a router and a real network simplified things so much. -

I have a home network using ethernet connected devices to a router, also attached to th erouter is a WiFi unit. We are using the WiFi unit to connect to the network and hence to the big wide WWW. We now want to print from our IPads pereferable to our netowk connected HP Officejet Pro 8500 A909a series. (not the wireless model).
I was using the HP ePrint app to print from the Ipad, but I do not fully understand how this works. It seems that you must use the app to do the printing which is fine for basic email and photos, but I can not access the drawing package I have, and want to print from it. Please what is it that I do not understand.You must use an airprint printer directly connected to wifi through it's own wifi card.

I had Premier pro given me by the college I attend and do no use wi fi and do not use cloud. My laptop completely died and will be sent back to Apple for exchange. How can I reinstall Premier Pro on a new Apple computer since the old one is completly dead and could not be unregistered?

You have not specified which version of Premiere Pro was given to you. If you don't have the disc (which i suppose you don't have) you will have to download it online.
As far as your registration is concerned, for Premiere Pro CS6 or earlier you will have to reach Adobe chat support for further help: http://helpx.adobe.com/contact.html
For Premiere Pro CC and later, you will not have much problems reactivating it.

I have a new Apple TV which is working fine except that I cannot access .mov files which are in my iTunes Library. How can I get to these? I can run them on my computer and select Apple TV on the screen, but the Apple TV goes to a black screen
Mov is a container format, you'd need to look at the codec used by the movie file inside the container to know whether it will work with the Apple TV or not.

I have the original ipad (OS 5.1.1) using pages 1.7.2 and backing up to icloud. If I open up one of the docs from icloud, I can no longer open it on my ipad. Looks like the pages version gets updated to a version that is incompatible with my ipad. Is there anyway stopping icloud from changing the version and is there a way to recover the old version of the document on my ipad?
Upgrade to Snow Leopard - it's compatible with the latest version of iTunes, and still supports PowerPC applications.

Snow Leopard is required if you wanted to upgrade to Lion, anyway, which you may want to in the future if the latest version of iTunes no longer supports Snow Leopard. -

How can I clone a Dish Network drive?
I currently have a Western Digital MyBook Premier Edition 320gb drive (USB/Firewire) in use as an external hard drive on my Dish Network VIP 722 receiver. It has the proprietary format that Dish Network uses. I have purchased a 500gb USB drive to replace this drive so that I can use the WD drive as a backup drive for our computers (MacBook and iBook). I can move the movies currently archived on this drive one at a time back to the DVR, and then to the new drive. Only one of these drives can be hooked up to the DVR at a time, so this will be a rather tedious process. I would like to clone the current drive to the new drive, and then reformat the WD drive to use with the computers to avoid this tedious process. I've read that this can be done with Linux (which I know nothing about), but I don't have a clue how. Can this be done with Mac OS, perhaps Terminal? I consider myself fairly computer literate, but if this can be done, I will need step-by-step instructions as I know enough about Terminal to know that I shouldn't use it without them. I hate to sound like a jerk, but this forum is not allowed to discuss duplicating copy-protected DVDs or other illegal activities. We need to be clear of such issues. -
My Book & My Passport - cannot access recordings saved from Dish network receiver
I was moving from another state and Dish talked me into not moving the receiver but to get the Hopper and other equipment. The Dish account I had was under my deceased common law husband's name. I bought both the My Book and My Passport and downloaded the movies and specials that my common law husband recorded on two receivers that we watched together and I want desperately to be able to watch since I have moved. After I got moved the new Dish receivers will not recognize the moves and shows. Dish said it is a copywrite issue because I had a different account. Dish never mentioned the fact that the account had to be the same and I have spent over $200 on these two hard drives. What I want to know: Is there any way to be able to download these movies and tv specials that are now on these two hard drives that I cannot access. I only want the material that I was told I could keep..I don't want to pirate shows to pass on to others. I think I deserve at least a one-time download of these shows to my current receiver as I was told by Dish Network in the very beginning. Can anyone help me with this. Is there anyway to download them to a different device, Cloud, or anything so I can watch these movies/specials. I feel Dish should allow this onetime exemption for me but was searching for any info I can get from Western Digital if they can download them for me somehow if I can't get Dish to do it.
Mt sympathy for your loss Mary.When you call, do it in the morning and for a supervisor in Technical support. Be firm about this point. Under copywrite law you can record the program for your own enjoyment. Tranfering the movies to a cloud will not change the personal enjoyment. If that were the case, you couldn't record it in the first place.I have gotten advice from one person and told the opposite later from another indivual. Good luck! .

Have you forgotten your password? - if so, you have a problem if the email address has gone dead.
If you know your password, go to the iTunes Store, click on Account. log in and you can change the associated email address.
If you don't know your password, and have no email address, you are going to have problems because it's difficult to see how Apple are going to identify you as the authorised owner of the account. Contact iTunes Support: go to http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/ - click on 'Other iTunes Store Features' in the list and then on 'Podcasts'. You will see a link to either 'Express Lane', which will guide you eventually to some contact options, or you may see a link to email them. -

How can I export an external calendar to my Apple calendar on the Macbook? ie: Airbnb Calendar.

I have done extensive research and it appears that this can't be done. A couple of people said you can email your .ics file to the iOS device, click on the file and you will be prompted to add the events to the calendar. But this process failed for me, and when I tried it a second time, I didn't get the "add all" option any more. I'm guessing the 4000 or so events were too much for the phone's processing and syncing capabilities. Anyway, Apple's failure to support a basic function like .ics import on Windows means that I won't be using iCloud anytime soon. It's too bad, because I would appreciate the ability to set a reminder on the desktop and have it work on the phone, which I can't do with my Gmail calendar.
