Can I hurt my iPhone screen by pressing it too hard during games?

I've got a new baseball game that I love playing, but sometimes I get too excited and mash the buttons. I see the screen react like it does whenever you press an LCD on a laptop or a calculator, for example. Can I damage it by pressing too hard? Obviously normally I don't press that hard, but it's like mashing buttons on a controller, except the controller is a screen.

So I dropped by my Apple store and all of their iPhones do the exact same thing. Strangely enough, the iPod touch doesn't. But the iPhones all do it, so I'm going to assume it's okay. I checked my old iPhone and it actually is worse. I'm not pressing that hard... it just shows up as a quick light or dark spot near where I press it. Weird.

  • Is it possible to damage iPhone screen by pressing too hard?

I have an iPhone 5s and I take really good care of it and want it to last a long time. I have an Otter Box and a screen protector and stuff to keep it in good condition. Sometimes, if I press the screen a little bit harder than usual, I notice that it looks liquidy for a second and the colors become wavy and distorted for a moment. The condition goes away after I release the pressure. Could I be damaging the screen when this happens?

But is it possible to damage the screen by pressing too hard, regardless of whether you have a screen protector?
Absolutely. You're talking about a glass screen over sensitive electronic components. It would be rather difficult to do with a finger, though.

  • I can't turn off full-screen, and pressing F11 doesn't work.

I can't turn off full-screen mode, and hittng F11 doesn't work. Is there another way of turning it off?

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • Can I replace an iphone screen?

I dropped my phone in a bucket of soapwater yesterday. I've performed all the actions necessary to recover it. I've turned it off, shook the excess water off, and stored it in a bag of rice for 24 hours. I've just checked it fifteen minutes ago and miracuously it can still turn on despite still having wet splotches on the menu screen. What's more is that the screen does not seem to respond to my presses. I push the number 2 and it will want to type in the number 5. Unfortuantely, I can't even make it past the password screen.
I'm wondering. Is this a symptom of the circuit board damage or the soaked LCD screen? Will it still work if I just replace the LCD screen?  I really don't want to pay over $199 for something that I'm sure I can replace myself.

Apple does not repair iPhones, but will replace the entire iPhone for a flat fee. If you have AppleCare+ coverage, the cost will low; in the US it's $49. If you do not have AppleCare+ on your iPhone, see the Service Pricing section here:
    http://www.apple.com/support/iphone/service/faq/
There are independent iPhone repair services that may be able to do the repair for less than Apple's out-of-warranty charge. Do a web search for "iPhone repair". Note, though, that if you elect to have the iPhone serviced by an unauthorized shop, all further warranty and support from Apple will be voided.
    Regards.

Possibly.  You could cut yourself on broken glass or the device could get further damaged, etc.

  • How can I display my iPhone screen on my Mac?

I have an app that lets me use my iPhone and iPad as external displays for my Mac, but I want something to go the other direction.  I want to use my Mac as an external display and control for my iPhone.  I will not jailbreak the iPhone, so those solutions are not useful.
    Thanks

Oh, and I would like to do this eith Bonjour, WiFi, or Lightning-USB
By the way, I tried Reflector, but I want to be able to control my phone from the Mac, and Reflector seems to be display only.  Do I want something that doesn't exist?

  • Can't see my iPhone on my PC as a hard disc

Hi! I just restored my iPhone 4s, and I don`t know why, the iPhone doesn't appears any more in my PC devices as before i did, but iTunes recognices my iPhone without problems. I don't see the option to "use as a massive storage" or anything... I just want to copy my photos, without using the photo sync of iTunes.
I'm using windows 7. I tried to change the "Autoplay" options, but anyway it's doesn't appears as a device.
    Thanks!

I don't think copying photos to the phone through Windows Explorer has ever been supported, though I have heard of people being able to do it anyway....
To the best of my knowledge, the only supported method is through iTunes - and it is expected that you keep a copy of the picture(s) on your computer and/or backed up somewhere other than on the phone. The photos get shrunk down so they take up less space on the phone and lose some of the quality as a result.
Good to her you got things sorted

  • My company sends my iphone4 Urgent text messages during after hours. How can i have my iphone 4 alert me and wake me during after hours endlessly of a text message until I acknowledge Ive received the text message?

Any suggestions on how to make the IPHONE 4 continuously alert of an incoming text message until acknowledged?

You have a Verizon phone. 4.2.10 IS the current version for the Verizon iPhone. You don't have all the same options as on the GSM iPhones. This will be rectified when iOS 5 ships this fall.
I'm assuming the text messages you're getting are automated...? If not, you could always have a human being call you every few minutes until you answer if you don't respond to the page after a certain amount of time.

    Hi mate,
the problem is that the button is broken because I already disassembled such machine and I know how it is installed. If I were you I would search for an technician or an authorized service partner which fixes your problem.

Why is my iPhone screen not turning off?

Sorry, my previous post was meant for another thread.
You can try resetting your iPhone by simultaneously pressing and holding the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons until you see the Apple Logo. This can take up to 15 seconds so be patient and don't release the buttons until the logo appears.
Try again to see if the problem persists.

  • How to fix my iphone screen because it blacked out and it still works

how can i fix my iphone screen .
It blacked out but my phone still work help!!!!

    Hi zhamond,
If your screen is black but the phone appears to still be responding, you may have inadvertently activated a feature known as Screen Curtains (part of the Accessibility functions). You may find the following information from the iOS manual helpful (pg 126):
Turn the screen curtain on or off. Triple-tap with three fingers. When the screen curtain is on, the screen contents are active even though the display is turned off.

You don't in the condition it's in. You will either have to get the phone replaced by Apple or pay a 3rd party to repair it.
there seriously should be more than two ways to solve this other wise apple is useless and we will never buy another apple product.
    Seriously? It's physically broken!

  • HELP:iPhone 3Gs OS 4.0 beta: Phone locked, can't go beyond Emergency Screen

    LS
    Prelude
I have recently installed the beta OS4 on my iPhone 3Gs 32 Gb and I have had some troubles for instance with the iTunes store: if downloading a song on the phone it would just crash, the Calendar is repeating reminders over and over (sometimes it would just not stop), had to do a few complete resets, the mediaplayer would just crash, twitter apps are crashing. It really is beta software but given the latest problems I now sincerely regret ever installing it.
    Locked
My phone this morning was locked in the "emergency calls only"-screen. I have tried everything from switching on and off, resetting through iTunes, hard reset (pushed the home button+on/of button simultanuously): nothing works, it will just return to the emergency call screen. iTunes tells me that the softwareversion perspired and i need to upgrade (?), after I try to do that it says I have the latest version and if I try to reset through iPhone or even synchronise iTunes says it can not access the iPhone. I am locked out of my own phone and can do nothing about it.
I need some professional help from Apple (or just someone very smart) as the only way out I see now is smashing the thing against the wall.
    Please help!
Kind regards and thank you beforehand!
    Papoise

Since your phone is no longer tied to a dev account, it looks like you won't be able to upgrade until te final release...
You can still downgrade, you'll have to put your iPhone in DFU mode. It goes something like this:
plug the iPhone into a computer
press and hold the home an sleep buttons until the "connect to iTunes" screen shows up
iTunes will detect the iPhone is in recovery mode
    you can now restore it
The down side os you'll lose you all your stuff that's one the iPhone, but I don't think that's avoidable now.
(If te above sequence doesn't work for you, google DFU mode.)
    Hope it works for you!
