Can I Import a golive site?

I wanted to bring a golive site into DW and edit it from now
on in DW. I assume this is possible and that some things will break
in the process but I have looked at export import info but it is
not very clear to me.
If I try to export my GoLive site after opening it, my only
non grayed out option is ( site Locator )
If I try to import from within DW, I only see 2 grayed out
options ( xml or Tabular )
I'm not even sure it is possible to do this, bring a golive
site into dreamweaver.
Can someone help me out here.
Thanks.

Just create a site in DW that points to the root folder of
the GL site. You
will be able to edit the files directly.
None of GL's special features will work in DW, however -
smart objects,
components, etc.

  • Can i import a old site create with leopard in iWeb on Lion?

can i import a old site create with iWeb on leopard in iWeb on Lion intalled in another Mac?

Yes you can but there are a couple of things you need to know. See this page under "iWeb and Lion OS X 10.7"...

  • How can I import my iWeb sites??????

I had a crash trying to install Leopard.
I have reinstalled the original OS with my new Intel iMac. BUT - how can I get my web sites back into iWeb? I REALLY do not want to have to recreate all these pages! It's insane! Is it just ME, or is there absolutely NO WAY to import my stuff in the folder (which I backed up, luckily)? Or do I have to recreate the sites YET AGAIN? Is there no way to make separate web sites so that they don't have to ALL be published in the same folder and have to save and resave and resave EVERYTHING over and over every time I do a new page, or update or whatever. It's maddening.

    THANK YOU!
I just checked it out and it sounds too good to be true.
I won't do anything with it until I have Leopard installed, but it's great to know it's there and the PRICE IS RIGHT!
Also, about my install: We bought a 5 pack license and made a copy for me. SOMEONE didn't verify the disk and it obviously had a glitch. When it was checked it got to about 30% and I got a message that the disk wouldn't work. So I clicked whatever buttons I was told to and then got the blue/grey screen. It sat there so long I had to turn it off with the button. Perhaps it was trying to reset everything to before I tried the install, I don't know. So, the problem wasn't necessarily Leopard and my computer, but the disk to start with and perhaps I compounded it by not waiting for 28 hours for it to fix itself <G>. Anyway, I have to kick myself for not doing a back up of EVERYTHING, and my famous last words were "Nothing ever screws up with a mac."
Lesson learned. I will have a 500G hard drive next week and this will never happen again.
I will also disconnect all peripherals as I saw some people suggested that was causing problems. But, what is MOST annoying after the data loss is all the TIME that it takes to do this. I have work to do on this darned machine!
Thanks again for the RapidWeaver tip, tboelsklfte.

  • How can I import my iweb site into iweb on my new laptop?

I recently got a new MacBook Pro and transferred my files over from my PBG4 12-inch (great little laptop). However my iWeb files/site didn't seem to transfer over to my laptop. I found the files of on my PBG4, and thought I placed them in the correct folder on my one.
Every time I open iWeb it asks to start a new site. How can I import my old iweb site into it and continue with it? Is there a way of doing it? I've a read a few posts some talk about the file 'Domain' in the Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder.
If I copy that file over to my new MacBook Pro, will my site be in iWeb again? I greatly appreciate some advice. Thanks.
MacBook Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    Isotopecrunch,
    Welcome to the iWeb forums!
You are correct about referring to the Domain file; this is the file that contains all of your work created in iWeb, and the file that needs to be transferred to your new MacBook. There are some notes on how to do this here.
Take the time also to make back up copies of this file, and keep them in a safe place.

  • Can't import temp BC site into DW

    Hello,
I'm on a MAC running OSX 10.6 and DW on CS6 creative cloud. I created a temporary site using BC, spent a bit of time editing a basic 3 pages and forms module and now can't import into DW to complete additional edits.
Site hangs when retrieving the site definition.
I created a second site and did nothing, but the second site also hangs on import.
Both sites show up in the associated window. I found similar posts on community, but no reply found.
Thanks for any help in advance,

When you initially set it up (import) into DW, do you also check the box to download all files?
If so, don't. Do it after you have imported your site.

  • How can I import one iweb site from my laptop to my iMac, which already has four sites built on it?

I created a website on my laptop using iweb, and would like to export the project so I can import it into the iWeb on my iMac, which already has four other sites that I created in it.  I can't seem to find any info or threads on being able to import just one project INTO my iWeb folder when there are already other sites I do not want to lose...anyone know how I can do this?  I can only find info on exporting and importing the entire DOMAIN file...
    Any help much appreciated.

Use iWebSites to add and merge the domain file(s) :

  • Can I import my iweb sites after re-installing ilife08

    I'm sweating a bit here.
I've just installed leopard, and have refreshed my hard drive (ie deleted it all)
I back up all my sites that I created in iweb, then re-installed ilife 08.
I can't retrieve my sites that I created into iweb.
    am I screwed?

    Hi there,
it depends on what you made a backup of...
Did you backup the Domain file?
    User/Library/Application Support/iWeb/Domain.sites2
If so you would just need to double click it...
If you didn't backup this file but did a backup of html pages then you will have to rebuild the site by copy and paste...

I have to format my PC to change the operating system
How can I save my sites and passwords?
I saved my bookmarks using the method provided by the Mozila Help, but I didn't find help for saving the sites and their passwords
I don't want to write them on paper and seems a little dangerous to just make copy to a disc like I did with others things (programs, fotos etc...)

  • Importing GoLive site?

    Okay, here's a challenge.
I just updated to a Mac Pro 2.8 running Leopard 10.5.2 and
CS3. I'd like to take an existing web site I created in GoLive CS2
and transition it to DreamWeaver. I know about the GL2ID plug-in
from Adobe. The problem is I've read that CS2 in not compatible
with Leopard, which is the only OS my new Mac Pro will run. How can
I import my web site into DreamWeaver without using the plug-in,
which it doesn't look like I'll be able to use anyway.
    Thanks,
    Kelly

Is there anyway I can use the FREE downloadable trial version
    of GL9 to do this?

  • Can you let me know if its possible to import a muse site from Business catalyst in to Dreamweaver?

Can you let me know if its possible to import a muse site from Business catalyst in to Dreamweaver? I have published a site using Muse to Business catalyst but would like to use FTP in dreamweaver to administer and edit.

I think you could but you wouldn't like what you see in Design View.   Why do you want to do this?

Can you please send me the email address that you're logged in with when you try to do the import? You can send it using a private message if you want.

  • Can't import BC site into Dreamweaver

I recently downloaded a trial of Dreamweaver and the adobe business catalyst plugin. When I try to import my bc site I am asked to login with this error message:
"An account with the same email already exists in Business Catalyst. To associate the Business Catalyst account with your Adobe ID, please log in to the Business Catalyst web administration console."
After logging in to the BC admin console I still cannot import my site. Is there some trick to merging the accounts?

    Hi sambrasch,
Can you check the solutions in this post  Cannot "Get started" or publish a site from Dreamweaver CS6 because the account is not associated with Business Catalyst account - technote and let us know if you still need help?

  • Can I import songs downloaded from Wallmart & other sites?

I have music I downloaded from Wallmart & other sites. Can these be imported into iTunes & then in the iPod?
    Thanks you,
    Howieb

You can't import songs downloaded from Walmart music service. They are copy protected (DRM) wma files and both itunes and the ipod do not support that. You would need to burn those songs to a music CD and then reimport the CD via itunes or another ripper encoder.
There is no direct way of doing that as far as I know.

  • Importing an iWeb site..

My mac mini went nuts and I ended up reformating it. But prior to this I saved my website. Now how do I import the site into iWeb? I really dont want to rebuild it again.

    Joop,
Welcome to Apple's iWeb forum. Cool site you have there; I'm sure all your buds appreciate the work you have done getting this online.
Problem is, you can't import published stuff back into the iWeb app. You see, iWeb doesn't even write html until you click a publish command; then it draws on a single file, Domain.sites, which is where it stores everything you create in the app, and then generates the code necessary for rendering your pages on the web. It's not a true html editor like Dreamweaver or Golive.
Sorry for the bad news, but you will have to recreate the site. You may consider just creating a new site altogether, and having links in the new site back to the old one; but most definitely, from now on, back up this Domain.sites file so you don't run into this problem again.

  • How can I import my old Appleworks spreadsheets into Neo Office or Pages

I am a new MBP owner and have some spreadsheets in Appleworks from my old iMac. I don't have Appleworks on my new MBP. I have downloaded Neo Office and could use it to create a new spreadsheet but can't import my previously created ones. Must I retype then? Or...as an alternative, I have iWorks. Can I import them into Pages? How? Thanks for any help.

The above suggestion didn't work for me. However, I did find this site that helped me--and it might help someone else:
    http://neowiki.neooffice.org/index.php/OpeningAppleWorksdocuments
It worked for spreadsheet--now I have to try to convert a data base document in Appleworks.
