Can I import a .pages document to iweb?

I am trying to load a sizable document (250-300 MB) into a website so it can be viewed instead of downloaded. The document is originally created in .pages format, but can easily be changed to a PDF.  I can upload it to iWeb or another application if necessary.  How can I make this work?

Phil ~ Welcome to the Support Communities. To avoid your large doc being a part of iWeb's Domain file, I suggest you convert it to a PDF and post it to the free Posterous. Then link to that post from your iWeb site. The PDF will automatically be displayed in a convenient viewer, for example:

  • How can I [cmd]+A including text boxes? Or how to import one Pages document into another Pages document?

    Hi there,
I am working on my thesis with several Pages documents (for the first time). And I really have searched all over the Internet to find an answer to exactly my question but I cannot find it.
First my question was: How can I import one Pages document into another one? I found the answer on that (I think) and there is nothing else than just make a new section and copy/paste it in.
But then another issue pops up: I cannot [cmd]+A my whole document including the texboxes to paste it in the other Pages document. Then the document will be paste without the textboxes (and I have quite a lot of them in that document) and the text will not be at the right place.
So please explain to me: How I can combine two Pages documents and keep them exactly the way they are? Is that even possible?
I thank you so much in advance!

    Hi Fruhulda,
I have already tried to mark the textboxes in line but that did not work, and besides then the text and the boxes won't be at the rigt places either. Thank you for your reply .

  • How can i import my old website into iweb

    hi,
my harddrive crashed and I lost all my data. When I set up OSX for new I downloaded my website (www.et-voila.net) from my ftp and I wanted to import to i-web. But I found no possibility do this.
How can I work on my old (i-web made) Website with my new i-web (i-web '08)? There must be a possibility!!
    thanks for your help

"iWeb stores everything in a Domain file, normally located in the ~/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder (although it can be moved). If you no longer have this file, you can view your currently published pages and manually recreate them within iWeb, but *there is no way to import published pages back into iWeb*. You can manually back up the Domain file, or use Backup to back it up."

This is usually a function of the driver you're using. Have you looked in the various PDEs for black and white or grayscale? What kind of printer are you using?

  • How can I convert a Pages document into PDF or RTF?

I have been asked to send a Pages document to PC users in RTF or PDF format.  How can I get my Pages document to convert into other formats for PC people?
Is that what the export feature is supposed to do?  I just don't know how to sent my document via e-mail to non-Apple conputers!

You didn’t indicate whether you are using Pages ’09 v4.+ or the latest Pages v5(.2) release. To send an email with either Word or PDF attachment from within Pages:
    Pages ’09 v4+
Pages menubar > Share (category Send via Mail) > (select Word (.doc) or PDF). Mail will launch into a compose window with the document already attached.
    Pages v5+
Pages toolbar > Share > Send a Copy > Email > (select Word (.doc/x) or PDF - best). Mail will behave as above.
Note: Either version of Pages is not an MS Word clone and it must translate content into the Microsoft document architecture. If you must have maximum Word document accuracy, you will need Office for Mac 2011, and the associated MS Word application that produces native .docx format.
    Backup your work.

  • Can you open with Pages documents that were created in a 2004 version of Microsoft word for Mac?

Can you open in Pages documents that were created in a 2004 version of Microsoft Word for Mac?

Pages '09 will open .doc files from Word 2004. The Mac OS is not what is in question. Pages '09 opens Word 2004 documents and if the same version of Pages will run in Lion and in Mountain Lion ..... Thats all that matters.
I trust you were using MS Office 2004 and would now like to buy Pages?

  • How can I have a Pages document that is shared with me under my Pages section and not open it with the link?

How can I have a Pages document that is shared with me under my Pages section and not open it with the link?

    Try this.
Open the document and select and copy a few pages, say ten pages.
Open a new blank document and paste the pages you copied into that.
Save it with a new name.
Work on those new pages to see if the problem has disappeared.
If this helps, continue breaking up the large file in to smaller chunks and working on them
You can of course later reverse the process and merge the files into one new one.
This suggestion is based on my experiences with large Word files. Breaking it up in to smaller chunks does two things. First, if there is any corruption in the old file, the new copies might escape that. Second, the Mac is faster handling the smaller chunks.

  • I need to install iWork 09 so I can open the many pages document files that will NOT open under the new pages 5. Mavericks will not accept an install from my iWork's 09 CD. How do I get around this?

I need to install iWork 09 so I can open the many pages document files that will NOT open under the new pages 5. Mavericks will not accept an install from my iWork's 09 CD. How do I get around this?

Hi, I'm helping StringSinger2 with this problem.
The previously installed version is Pages 3.0.3 (the same as from iWork 08). This version (Pages 3.0.3/iWork 08) is incompatible with Pages 5.
That is why it would be helpful to install iWork 09, which is the version between the two. It will open the older 08 files, and its saved files are readable by the new Pages5.
    SO...
When I try to install iWorks 09 from my retail DVD the error message is "the installer is damaged". (I know the dvd is good, I installed iWorks09 to my laptop today.) Is the "installer" part of the system files? And - If that is damaged is there a patch for that?
    Many Thanks!

  • Can I add a Pages document to an iPhoto journal?

I have created an iPhoto journal from photos taken at my high school graduation. Can I add a Pages document listing our deceased classmates to this journal?

I see your question has remained unanswered for a while now. I suggest you experiment around with copy/paste to see how text from the Pages app might work on a journal. Please report back with how you make out.

  • I can't open a pages document.

I can't open a pages document. It says I need a new version of pages. I searched for upgrades but can't find any. Am I being forced to re-buy the program in order to access my documents? I looked into upgrading operating system, but Mavericks says I can't - my machine is too old? Seriously? It is starting to look like upgrades are breaking what otherwise worked fine, then charging to upgrade to make it work?

    Pages 5 requires Mavericks.
If you can't upgrade to Mavericks you will need to Export your Pages 5 file to Pages '09 or Word .doc/x format then open it with whatever Pages version you have (you didn't say).
You can open Pages 5 files inside Safari using iWork for iCloud beta and Send a Copy in Word format to yourself.

  • A year later...same question: How can I get a Pages document embedded ???

How can I get a Pages document embedded into an email? (so that the recipient sees it immediately and does NOT have to open a PDF). Although I know a PDF is universal and would allow anyone (mac or not) to open, read and see my business newsletter, I want it to be instantaneous for viewing. So, which leads me to a question I've kicked around for a year now on this discussion board. How do I turn a Pages doc into html for email purposes? If there isn't a way with Pages, How about with Word (the newest version) for Mac? Someone has to know this art, I receive emails like this all the time, probably from Apple! ha ha .
    Please help!

In Mail.app, single page PDF are directly readable so you may try to
print your page #1 in a PDF
    then
print your page #2 in a PDF
    and so on.

    we can't !
As Apple removed the export to html feature, I assume that it's no to reintroduce it one day

In Pages, go to File > Export > Word, so the document will be saved in .doc to be able to use it in Word

i can´t open any page document. Please help

You do need to give more information. What version of Pages, what version of OS X, have you ever been able to open Pages documents, have you made any changes to your Mac? Please be specific with versions, don't just say "I have the latest." Our crystal balls don't work over the internet.

  • Can I retrieve a Page document I just closed without saving? (-:

Can I retrieve a Page document I just closed without saving? (-:

If the OP's information is correct (Snow Leopard), there is no autosave.
Otherwise, the idea that you must save once before autosave kicks in seems to be one of those bits of misinformation that gets repeated so many times that everyone starts to believe it. I never used Lion or Yosemite, but certainly with Mountain Lion and Mavericks, autosave does save documents before they are saved to a real file. Since that is essential to the ability to restore open windows on relaunch, I am pretty sure it also applies to the systems that I haven't used.
I think the system may not keep versions until a document is explicitly saved.
Closing an unsaved document will discard the autosave information in any case, but, at least with the way I've had my preferences set, it does throw up a dialog asking you to confirm that you want to discard the data.

  • Can't see my pages documents after updating to IOS 6

Did you tried to make a new one?
If that's not working, remove Pages from Multi Tasking and Force Restart your iPhone by holding Power & Home buttons until restarts. (Ignore "Slide to Power off.)
