Can I Import H.264 Video Without it Looking Like Garbage?
I realize that FCE is made for DV, but I've got some nice footage (shot in BetaSP and digitized in a pro edit facility) that I want to import. The original looks really great, but whenever I import into FCE or transcode to DV using QT Pro, the footage degrades so badly that I can't believe it - it's truly not usable.
My clips are currently in .mov files in H.264 (720x405 res). I have to be doing something wrong. Any help would be appreciated!!

Try using MPEG Streamclip to convert it to Apple DV/DVCPRO NTSC or Apple Intermediate Codec. I did this recently and the results were very good.

You can't, natively with the iPhone. The photo sync is one way: computer to phone. To do what you want requires third-party software, like this:

How can i import songs or videos from my iPod to my computer?
How can i import songs or videos from my iPod to my computer?
iTune doesn't seem to be able to get this done...You can't sync your music back from an iPod to iTunes, the transfer of music is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the files from your iPod, this is just a selection. Have a look at the web pages and documentation for these, they are generally quite straightforward. They will all transfer songs but if I recall, only iPodCopy also does videos.

YamiPod Mac and Windows Versions
PodUtil Mac and Windows Versions
iPodCopy Mac and Windows Versions
PodPlayer Windows Only
iGadget Windows Only
There is also a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows posted in this thread: MacMuse - iPod to iTunes -
I can't import and view videos from a camera.
I can't import and view videos from a camera. Even if I open the file and copy the .avi files onto the hard drive. I have tried iMovie, Quicktime, and Flip player. Flip player will open it but I only get the audio, Quicktime freezes, and iPhoto tries to automatically import only to then error saying the files are not compatible.
Hello Hese,
try the following:
1. delete preferences (com.apple.iMovie.plist) and empty the trash
2. repair disc permissions with Disc Utility and reboot your mac
3. use Diskwarrior or MacJanitor for disc clean-up
4. disconnect any other firewire devices
5. take off any non-system desktop pictures
If nothing else helps, you might want to consider resetting your Firewire port(s)

sir; i can't import song and videos from pc to my iphone pls help me
We are fellow users here on these forums, you're not talking to iTunes Support nor Apple - if you would like help then you will need to provide more information than 'can't import' e.g. how are trying to sync content and what happens when you do it ?
You have the latest version of iTunes installed on your computer, and your phone appears in it when it's connected to your computer ? If not then see if this troubleshooting page helps : http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538
You should be able to sync music and films/TV programmes by selecting your phone on the left-hand sidebar of your computer's iTunes (you can enable the sidebar via control-S on a PC) and then using the tabs on the right-hand side of the iTunes screen to select and sync your content
Is that how you are trying to do it and it's not working ?
If you haven't synced your phone to that computer before then you may also find this page useful : https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3141 -

How can I fake my FROM email address to look like I'm sending it from work?
I want to not have to log into my work webmail everyday and I want to just use MobileMe. I have all my work mail forwarded to MobileMe. The problem is that I don't want to ever have to log into work mail to send a message. How can I fake my from email address to look like I'm sending it from work?
You can't do that with MobileMe. MobileMe's mail servers will only accept senders from their own domains (@mac.com and @me.com). No other senders, not even from configured personal domains, will be accepted.
You will either have to use your companies SMTP server or, if not public available, your companies webmail. -
Two questions: How can I use my dual monitors on my G5 Mac?
How can the image in "Develop" be made to look like what it will print, just as it is
done in Photoshop with view>proof setup.Still wondering what tool is available in LR 1.1 to "view proof"
As in Photoshop CS 3, and previous versions of PS, in view I can
choose the custom .icc profile of the printer, to view what the final
print will nearly perfectly appear like.
What tool is available in LR 1.1 to do the same?
Equipment: Mac OS 10.4.10; dual monitors; Epson Pro 9600 and SPR

How can I keep photos on iPod Touch from looking like color negatives?
How can I keep photos on iPod Touch from looking like color negatives?
You don't have to keep your photos in iPhoto to sync to your iPod according to Apple's website which states you can sync from folders in other locations:
"Syncing Photos from a Mac
To sync photos from iPhoto or a folder on your Mac:
1. Connect your iPod to your computer and open iTunes.
2. Select your iPod in the DEVICES section of the iTunes Source list.
3. In the main iTunes browser window, select the Photos tab.
4. Select the checkbox labeled "Sync photos from" and then choose either iPhoto, Aperture, Choose Folder, or Pictures, from the menu.
* If you choose iPhoto, select "All photos and albums" to copy all of your photos in iPhoto, or "Selected albums only" and select individual rolls or albums you want to include.
* If you choose Choose Folder, navigate to and select the folder of photos you want, then click Choose. Select "All photos" to copy all photos in the folder, or choose "Selected folders" to sync particular subfolders.
* If you choose Pictures, choose "All photos" to copy all photos in the folder, or choose "Selected folders" to sync particular subfolders.
5. If you want iTunes to also include the full-resolution versions of your photos, select the "Include full-resolution photos" checkbox. To access full-size photo files, be sure to enable your iPod for disk use.)
6. Once you have decided which photos you'd like to sync, click Apply."
Hope this helps! -

where can buy a new ipad 4g with CDMA. looks like only the USA edition support CDMA
You would need to purchase it within the country in which your are trying to use it. CDMA devices are tied to a specific carrier (for example, a Sprint CDMA iPhone will not work on Verizon's CDMA network). I'd contact the carrier your interested in using.

Can't import ESP mode Video into iMovie...
I can't import video recorded in ESP mode into iMovie or Final Cut. Is there some trick to it, or am I kinda screwed?? PLease help me if you can..
If your camera has analog inputs, then yes. Unfortunately, today that's a big "if" as most cameras only has analog OUTputs (to play on a TV).

Can't import mts/HD video to imovie 09
Hi,
I have the Sony HDR-TG5V & have successfully imported mpg/SD videos to imovie but haven't been able to import mts/HD videos. I've tried deleting the SD from my video camera but it still doesn't recognize the mts/HD videos. For some reason the SD videos keep popping up even though I've deleted them from the camera. Please help!Yes the ffmpeg solutions seems to work and I was very happy with this at first beceause this also eliminates re-encoding whole video clips again.
BUT! I do have serious performance issues inside iMovie '09 with these newly created M4V files. Once imported skimming through them goes extremely slow. An I mean extreeemely slowww... So I'm unable to use them. When I choose the optimize setting and let iMovie convert the file to Quicktime after all, optimizing also takes a very large amount of time. A 30 seconds clip took me about an hour to import/optimize and I don't have this issue when importing from camera. Once imported and optimized in Quicktime the clip works perfect just like any other clip but it's gonna tame me a tremendous amount of time to do this with the large amount of MTS files I have (incorrectly) saved on an external hard drive.
There must be some sort of solution to wrap up the MTS files in a native AVCHD folder structure so that iMovie will import them? And I mean a solution without re-encoding them to MPEG4 or whatsoever beceause that would be costing me too much time as well.
Any other tips? Maybe writing the files back to the camcorder but unfortunately Canon only supplies Windows software for doing that. Anyone had experience with that?
