can I import word for mac document, edit it, and convert it back to word?

Yes, with some caveats.
Pages and Word do some things differently, so no guarrantees for anything. Mostly it works fine.

Can I see Excel and Word for Mac documents on icloud?

No, I already have Microsoft Office for Mac on my macbook and on my imac.  I want to share the documents from one (imac) to the other through Icloud.   But it doesn't show them as an option.   How do you share documents on one computer to the other within the same house?

  • Word For Mac Document Froze over top of another Word For Mac Document

I have two Word for Mac documents open, one with my notes and the other being my essay.
I needed to look up something from another word document that I accessed via an email. I downloaded the attacthed word document and opened it. It opened over top of my notes and froze. I cannot close the document that has froze so I would have to force quit Word for Mac, but that would cost me losing the document it has froze over as I am unable to save it. If this makes sense to anyone, I could really do with a hand, or be redirected where I could get some help!
    Thank you!

All I can suggest is do a screen shot
    Shift cmd3
or take a selection of what you want by
    shift cmd4
save the file then force quick
or press the power button on your machine till it quits.
    restart

Simply type command 8 again. That toggles the "show paragraphs" function.

  • Can't open Office for Mac documents on MacBook Air by simply clicking on the document.

On my MacBook Air, normally I can click on Office for Mac documents and they open no problem. However, now if I click on the document nothing happens. I can only open them if I open the application first and go File > Open. I have had this problem before but I can't remember how I solved it.

You may want to select one of those documents in Finder and then use the Finder File menu Get Info (Command I) to see what application it is set to Open With. That can be changed in the same place. Another method is to right-click on the file.

Help!!!! I just bought my Mac earlier today and I began to download a free copy of Word for Mac. The download went great, but the installation is not working. I received a pop up saying I had to close Safari in order to continue. I closed it, hit the continue button and installer froze. Now the pop up keeps blinking on and off and I have this black and white spinning wheel of death. Also the time of the installation keeps increasing. Please help!

  • How can I import Outlook for Mac mail into Lion Mail?

How can I import mail from Outlook for Mac into Lion Mail?

It is not Outlook that needs to be sync'd; it is the Exchange Server.  Find out from the System Administrator of the Exchange Server the EXTERNAL name and use that to setup a new mail account in Lion Mail.  I highlight the "external" because the URL used for Window's Outlook Clients will not work.  Try the webmail URL first.

  • Q: convert Ami Pro (.sam) to Word for Mac document

I have some Ami Pro for Windows files that need to be converted to Mac Word 2004.
In Windows, it's the following procedure:
-download Amipro converter from www.gmayor/downloads.htm & extract/unzip that yields 2 files
    - insert AMI332.CNV file into Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\TextConv
    - merge AMIPRO.REG to registry (rt click file & merge)
I was able to convert the *.sam file into WinWord & save as a fully formatted doc file without making the registry change.
Can I do the same thing with Mac Word 2004? How?

    Hi Kaal,
Stefan, thanks to you, I'm going to change my profile description for level of skill & increase it to neophyte++.
I call it 'learning by doing'
Although I have my Macs for 2.5 years now (switched from Windows PC) I still learn something about them each day, especially when I am in this Forum !
It took me a while to figure out what you were writing about in your reference to 30 days as I wasn't able to find anything on Windows offering a 30 day free trial. Wikipedia gave me the answer about the 30 days (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WindowsProductActivation ). Not exactly elegant, but very practical. That's what I'll do.
Sorry, if I wasn't that clear about it. Thought it was common knowledge. My bad.
I tried 1 other thing since last post. I mentioned networking MacBook to PC & when selecting WinWord on the PC, that MacWord came up instead. Well, I didn't want to delete MacWord so I tried hiding the application folder & the MacWord application file by renaming them. That didn't work either as it brought up MacWord again.
Sounds like there is file association between .doc files and MacWord. Have you tried using right-click on the .doc file and 'Open with...' ?
Nonetheless when you are in OSX and want to open a .doc file, WinWord won't run in OSX and then MacWord opens.
    Tks - KAAL
You're welcome anytime. Hope it works out for you.
    Stefan

  • Can you open with Pages documents that were created in a 2004 version of Microsoft word for Mac?

Can you open in Pages documents that were created in a 2004 version of Microsoft Word for Mac?

Pages '09 will open .doc files from Word 2004. The Mac OS is not what is in question. Pages '09 opens Word 2004 documents and if the same version of Pages will run in Lion and in Mountain Lion ..... Thats all that matters.
I trust you were using MS Office 2004 and would now like to buy Pages?

  • Hiding icons in the Dock and 'Word for Mac'

Hi, I'm new to macs and I'm struggling a little with some of the simpler tasks! I've put Word for Mac Student Edition on my Macbook but can you tell me how I can delete a word document once I've created it? I can't seem to find 'delete.' Also, can somebody help with hiding some of the icons in the dock. I've got loads and I know I won't use many of them.
    Thanks for your help!
    Macbook   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

Thanks for your quick reply! I don't have a right or left click on my Macbook just the mousepad and one bar that runs across the bottom of the pad, It makes no difference if I press the left or right hand side of it, it just keeps initialising the applications.
I've tried dragging the document to the trash can but that won't work either! Should I be pressing a command key before hand?
Sorry, I must have been more entrenched in windows-working than I thought....

  • Users of Word for Mac:  Help on Two Issues!!

I downloaded some fonts I wanted to use in my Word for Mac document. Download went fine and the fonts are happily nestled in the Fonts folder. However, when I open Word, they do not appear on the Font listing. Any thoughts as to how to get them over so I can use them?
Also, I wanted to use the Fonts to create a logo that--ideally--would be a half circle of text over the design. Simple enough, I thought: just go into Toolbox and pull down the styles (like you can in Windows) and choose the style I want.
No such luck (we are dealing with a Mac here so everything is special) but suddenly a "special styles" toolbox appeared with exactly what I wanted--the ability to format a font to a 180' half circle, mirror image text and some other stuff that seemed interesting!
When I went back to the document to format the text the "special styles" toolbox disappeared, never to be found again. Sigh...
Any ideas? Oh, yes, there is a 180' in "Word Art" but I can't get the downloaded fonts into there, so that isn't really a solution.

Okay, here are the details: Word for Mac 2008 Ver. 12.2.8
Yes, I did post to the MS Forums.
Still no answer from either MS or MAC forums.
Sorry, but this doesn't strike me at that tough a question, hence the *****. I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who uses Word for Mac and I'm equally sure I'm not the first one to download a font that didn't load into Word for Mac. The answer is out there somewhere....

  • Inserting pdf files in word for mac

For the life of me I can't figure out how to insert pdf files in my word for mac document. I can insert the first page of the file by inserting it as an object but can't figure out how to insert the entire document.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
    Thanks.

It actually isn't an odd thing to do. I have been working on a word document - a final report - for a client. I need to add several pdf files as part of the appendices. If I was printing off only a hard copy, I would simply print the pdf file and add them to the end of the report. However, my clients require that the entire document include all the appendices - on one document - to make it simple for anyone who needs to see the final report. I also need to mention that the pdf file is translated document in Inukutuk and I cannot simply copy it and then insert it as the fonts will not translate properly. Complicated I know.... When I insert the document only the first page of the 45 page Inuk document is inserted.
The pdf files came to me from the translators and I don't know what kind of pdf file it is - I can't tell.
Not sure if that is helpful or not...
    thanks.

  • Spelling/grammar error notification in Word for Mac 2004

Is there a way to set up Word so that a sound will indicate an error as you are typing?
    Thanks!

    Hi Leslie .....
As you know you can setup MS Word for mac to underline "in RED" during typing the misspelled word.
Right click on it and "chance it" if not in the suggested word list you can added the word to your wordbook.
But, I think that you did know this already ...
*Also the question you put is here can be very annoying during typing ... to hear every time a "SOUND" would get you out of your concentration, by this way you could make more mistakes as usually*
It's up to you IF you still looking for a script or anything else to check misspelled words.

  • Copy and paste text from Word for Mac to Mail exasperating!

I'm so exasperated!! I would be grateful for some help.  I have a carefully worded template letter in Word for Mac.  I copied and pasted it into Mail and loads of extra lines are put in that I cannot delete! So I painstakingly copy and paste each line.  I still have to faff about deleting extra lines that magically appear, then press shift+enter to go to next line without having a line space.  It has messed up font size as well.  Surely it should be straightforward to copy and paste simple text from one program to another!  Is there something I should know or do I just have to type everything out afresh each time - ridiculous in this so called easy technology that saves work ha ha.
