Can I increase menu sizes and fonts without lowering my resolution?

This is my first desktop Mac ever and its a huge shock to have the menus and fonts so small. I thought my having a large 27" display that its going to be easy to see everything.
At the same time I do not want to lower my resolution as i feel it defeats the purpose and I am also a photographer that needs to have the best resolution. I am okay with hitting comm+ to make applications bigger but the menu bars and applications I use tend to be much smaller than Im used to. Even a word doc on Pages opens up extremely small to where nobody can read it. I am 32 with perfect vision and its making hard to read.
Im just wondering and hoping that there is something I can adjust and since Im new to Mac dont realize yet. If not, than thats pretty disappointing and will start to wonder if i should have bought something else
I am open to downloading 3rd party stuff if it makes it do what I want it to.

Thanks for your suggestions Paul_31 and Strawb268 which, I agree does make a difference to the menu text size but at reduction of screen definition and clarity which is, after all, one of the main reasons I bought the iMac in the first place.
I've read elsewhere since making the initial post that the Apple engineers don't like a larger font. Maybe when they get a bit older they will wish they had made that option available!
I really hope that an option for changing the fonts in menus is included in a future upgrade of Mavericks. I really don't want to have to go back to a Windows PC to resolve such a simple issue.

Audio increases menu size

OK why is it that a simple menu with a still background that starts out at 340K jumps to 42MB when i add a 1MB 15 second stinger to it??? i have a project with over a hundred menus, so i can't have each menu weighing in around 42MB, because it pushes the menu size over 1GB, and with the video sections pushes the overall disk size over 4.7GB as well.
i have 136 question menus. i have 4 - 15 second audio stingers that i wanted to disperse on the questions. originally i added the audio by dragging it to the menu. when i do so, it increase the menu duration by 15 seconds. i have found that if i then delete the audio but leave the duration, the menu decreases size slightly but remains over 40MB. however if i then set the duration back to zero, the size shrinks back down to 340K. so it would appear menu duration is causing the increase.
is there a better way to add this audio without the increased menu size? thanks, rebecca

The issue isn't the audio (although compressing to ac3 would give you a bit more room with all of the menus you plan on having). The issue is the video. Eventhough you are using a 'still' image, my bet is that you are using DVDSP's buttons/text/shapes/etc. to composite over your still background. If you are, then DVDSP treats the composite as a video stream (eventhough it's a still image), and will encode a stream to match the length of the duration of your menu. If you want audio and you don't want the added space that DVDSP will create by doing this, then you have to prepare your graphics and button overlays outside of DVDSP. If you do that, then DVDSP will only encode a single I frame (rather than a video stream) for the video portion of your menu (which will be kb rather than mb in size) and will set the information within the ifo file to tell the dvd player how long to display the image (ie it will tell the player to display the image to match the duration you set for the menu in the first place).

Monitor image has increased in size, and is very unsharp

for no reason I can think of the image (all) increased in size and is very fuzzy. This happened as I was looking at the screen - was not touching anything at the time - I don't think. Might I have hit a function key and not known it, and made the image bad??? Menu bar runs off screen to the right.

Hi forum, how do you see the size and colour of a piece of text in Dreamweaver Cs5, I have some text in a dreamweaver file which is a size I like and a colour I like and I want to make a CSS rule with these characteristics. How can you see what size and colour a piece of text is?

Above code is deprecated. CS5 will not pick up these styles in the CSS styles panel. Legacy sites are not simple to work with. They need to be converted to modern standards. You do this by stripping the HTML styles from markup and re-writing styles to CSS.

While some applications let you change the font size of the UI (notably Photoshop in Interface Preferences), others do not yet (like InDesign).

It used to be if you added the contacts photo on the iOS device they would have a large picture and if you added it from Address Book on OS X they would have a smaller thumbnail. However, since iOS5, all I've been able to get is the larger photo. Try adding the picture directly in the contacts app on your device. That should make it larger.

Just modify width and height values to 100% in the forms\server\formsweb.cfg file:

When a call comes in, is there a way to increase the size of the photo to actually be able see who it is whose calling? I mean when they say "thumbnail" photo, they aren't kidding!

From within the phone, no you can't increase the size of the display photo.
There are apps available in AppWorld which may be able to accomplish this but that's the only way you'll be able to adjust the size.

These are HTML formatting questions. Nothing to do with the Oracle SQL and PL/SQL languages.
With old-style HTML, the font size and family are set using the font tag.
With modern style HTML, that is done using cascading style sheets (CSS).
