I Want to know if i can record out of our sky plus box into my laptop and burn to DVD.

As far as I know the Satellite notebooks have not video IN port and you can not watch TV without some external hardware. I have tested it one with my Portege notebook. I have used a external video converter.
On this way you have video signal at your unit. You can record it (using delivered software with converter) and later create a video DVD.
Other possibility is not known to me.

Have them install Quicktime on their PC's from Apple's website, that's the easiest fix.

Obviously you can not select the video to import until after iMovie populates the list of videos that are available to be imported

Can I input the single-ended image signal to PCI-1424?

One of my customer wants to input the single-ended image signal to our PCI-1424 instead of the differential or TTL ones, is it impossible to do that ?I've check the user's manual and it only mentioned that the input signal can be DIFF or TTL-compatible.

TTL signals are single-ended, so if the image signal follows TTL specifications, it will work with the 1424.

I found one thread dating suggesting that I download some free software MPEG Streamclip from http://www.squared5.com/svideo/mpeg-streamclip-mac.html. I did that and selected the (beta) version that is necessary for downloading from YouTube. I installed the software including an add-on that I had to purchase from Apple, Quicktime MPEG2.dmg. When I try to run the software I get the following error message: File open error: can't open the file.

and many other codecs/tools to watch anything.
Guess the iOS isn't really all that it's cracked up to be, ignoring the wider world out there.
Your only choice to complain to Apple about closed devices they make, but of course they know this already and using the iPad as a cheap "netbook" halo effect device so you get to upgrade to a Mac, just like they do with iPhones and iPods.
In the meanwhile they are slowly closing the door on OS X, a little at a time so it's not noticeable.
Pretty soon the excuse will be "sorry I can't play your video you sent me mom, I've got a Mac"

Can not get a video from my PC into iTunes.

I can't seem to get my video from my PC into iTunes, so I can play them on my iPad. I've tried adding from the library....nothing. I've tried dragging and dropping into iTunes directly from the folder....nothing. Am I over looking something? Please help.

I have an iPad 1 and when I wanted to put a couple of movies on my iPad I found that it would not import them until I reformatted the video from the .AVI they were in to the apple MP4 format and afterward iTunes imported them and I ran the Sync to iPad function and they went right on without any problems.
Hope this helps as Apple doesn't seem to want or care about supporting the iPad 1's. wouldn't have spent the money then if I would have know this would happen since my iPad is not quite 2 years old. I have a 5 year old Dell laptop and they still give total support for it and I paid much less for it !

So, to get to the specifics, just what is your specific burn to DVD issue that is causing to you write. There are many points along there way
where you may be stuck in the process.

What are you doing when you get stuck. Telling me burning to DVD is not going to help.
1. Do you know that after you edit your Timeline in the Edit area, you either go to Tools/Movie Menus or straight to Publish+Share/Disc/DVD disc?
2. If so, how far do you get? Is it that you do not know the path or that you get hit with a program crash or any error message in the Publish+Share/Disc/DVD disc task? Is that where we are non communicating, distinguishing between the two?
I am prepared to give you right on answers if you can zero in on your question and details.

How can I embed a video with absolute path into a PDF

I'm having some difficulties in embedding a video into a pdf; I followed the instructions to embed it properly, but the path points to my personal computer , so that the video will be available only on the computer I used to embed the document.
Any suggestion? Can I modify the path directly? The PDF is supposed to be linked to another interactive PDF and to work both online and offline.

Thanks for the reply. I tested the file on other computers, though, and it doesn't open the video on any computer but mine (mine: the one I used to embed the video).
Am I doing something wrong? I'm using Acrobat X and the procedure I'm following is: Multimedia/Add Video/Choose file
I searched for manuals online and I saw that some of them were checking the box "embed file", but I don't have that choice..
Maybe I'm supposed to use another version of acrobat?

Can Calibration Protocol and how to devide signals into CAN-Bytes and backwards

i have two questions about working with NI-CAN Hardware:
First: How do I divide my signals (esp.:rpm,boolean variables,...) to put them into the CAN Message Bytes?
example:
rpm range: 0 to 8000
resolution:1 step means 1 rpm
On rpm = 2000 the resulting bitcoding is as follows:
[00000111 11010000] [highbyte lowbyte]
Next I have to store a boolean bit(false/true is set to true) additionally into the highbyte. the resulting bitcoding is [10000111 11010000]. CAN message is now ready for dispatch. The listener have to take the individual bits to get the rpm and the booleans state.
I programmed a CAN-DLL in Visual C++ for a CAN Dongel. In C it is easy to split the CAN Message into the
ir signals. Shiftoperations (<<,>>) make this possible.
Second: Next step is the use of CCP2.1 (Can Calibration Protocol). Did someone use already once CAN Calibration Protocol with Ni-CAN hardware? If, I would be pleased about example files or contact.

Mittlerweile hat sich etwas neues ergeben:
Eine in LabVIEW6.i erstellte Anwendung kommunziert via CAN. Die Sende- und Empfangssignale werden in einer DLL (Aufruf externer Bibliotheken), nach empfangen einer CAN NAchricht, zusammengesetzt oder für den Versand zerlegt (in die 8 Datenbytes entsprechend einer Schnittstellendefinition).
Somit übergibt Labview lediglich komplette Zahlenwerte (Drehzahlen) und BOOL Flags (Bits), die in der DLL, wie oben beschrieben, bearbeitet werden.
Diese DLL greift schließlich auf entsprechende CAN Treiber DLL's zu um Daten zu versenden oder abzuholen.
Zusätzlich soll nun die NI-CAN Karte integriert werden. Der erste Ansatz war die Lösung in LV zu realisieren. Dabei müsste je
doch die gesamte Schnittstelle nochmals integriert werden (doppelter Pflegeaufwand).
!! Deshalb suche ich nun nach einer Lösung in C oder C++ mit Visual Studio .NET. Beispieldateien (in C oder C++) für CAN starten, CAN schließen, CAN reset, CAN read und CAN write wären sehr hilfreich.
Die Modifizierungen der Signale werden in der DLL bereits erledigt. Ich benötige lediglich einen Zugriff (in C oder C++) auf die NI-CAN Karte, um die bereitliegenden Daten zu versenden(CAN write), bzw. empfangene abzuholen (CAN read).
Das Format einer CAN Message:
1. Identifier
2. Datalength
3. DataBytes[8]

How can I input data from a Frontend site into a Backend SWF, pull data, then send back to Front?

So here's what I'm trying to figure out...
I have a site with an SWF that I can put some metrics into, such as ZIP Code, Weight, etc.. then, it takes that info and gives me shipping rates.
I need to build a front-end site that I can have a forms page that will push data to the backend SWF, and then return the data back from the SWF to the front end.
Any ideas how to do that?
Front-end -> SWF (Zip Code, Weight, Size) -> *Calculates* -> Front-End
That should be the flow.. So I need to send data to the backend, GET the data that it calculated, and return the results to my front-end.

Depending on what the data looks like coming from the Flash movie, you can use the get or send method to output data from the Flash movie using URLRequest. You can look at the online help example for the URLVariables class. You will still need to use or create a server side script to read in the data, make the changes and send the modified data back. That will be a perl or PHP script and is outside the scope of this forum.

How can I incorporate several video and audio clips into one iMovie project?

Hello all. Basically, I'm trying to solve a problem before it becomes one. I'm going to put together a short iMovie project for a thank-you dinner. Several people from out-of-town will not be able to make the dinner. I want to give them the opportunity to "speak" by having them put together a short video or audio clip. I then need to gather up all the clips and put them together in one iMovie project. I guess I'm looking for some assistance in terms of format, what types of files/formats to use, etc. I've done a few movies (mainly from still pictures -- glorified slideshows with music). But, I'm still a relative neophyte when it comes to the computer world. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. (feel free to point to a "How to " tutorial if there's a good one out there).

the real task is, to make all clips readable for usage in iM ...
before making you a technician on video-codecs:
download and install the free tools Mpeg Streamclip and Perian.org
you have to relaunch your Mac after doing so...-
BEFORE adding any of your external sources into an Event, use Streamclip to manually convert to DV, or if source is HDef, to Quicktime/Appleintermediate.
the resulting files should import flawless into iM, proceed as usual.
iM 'swallows' a lot of formats, so it could be this manual conversion isn't needed ...
don't hesitate to come back here, if probs occur ...
