Can I install 8 on the same machine where I have 7?

Can I install app server 8 on the same machine where I have app server 7 installed already? Are there any conflicts that I need to be aware of?

Yes, you can install both 7 and 8 on the same system - you simply have to specify different installation location (and different set of port numbers if you plan to use both installations at the same time).
You can also use upgrade tool which is shipped with release 8 to migrate your server configuration and deployed applications from the old installation into the new installation. See installation guide for more details on this:

  • Installing MDW on the same machine as MRS

    Hi Experts:
We have MRS running on a Windows 2003 Server (Enterprise) and is working fine.
We would now like to install MDW on the same machine.  I have also installed the MS Office 2003 and MS Visual Studio.NET 2003.  However, it is still not highlighting the option that would allow me to install MDW.
In the MDW prerequisites it states that I would need Windows 2000 or XP, however my machine is running on MS Windows Server 2003 (Enterprise Edition), would this make a difference?
Also is there a way of finding what I am exactly missing?  I have the install guide and I have everything mentioned in that guide.  I am also mentioning a few things that are slightly different.
Operating system is MS Windows 2003 Server instead of MS Windows 2000
DB is MS SQL 2000 Enterprise instead of Personal or MSDE
Can anyone shed some insight into this/
    Thanks
    Imran

    Hi:
This is what I have figured out.
I wasn't able to find a way of installing MRS and MDW together.  If MRS is installed first then MDW option is automatically is omitted even if all prerequisites are met.
If MDW is installed first then, the system is going to give you the option of MRS, howerver during the install it is going to remove all MDW components and replace them with MRS components.
Also, installing MRS on a XP is possible only after installing MS SQL 2000 (Personal Ed.).  Enterprise and Standard are not installable on windows XP.
Installing MDW on Windows Server is possible, and any edition of SQL will work for the install.
I hope someone will find this information useful.

  • Issue while installing TimesTen on the same machine as the Oracle DB.

    Hi,
I am new to the TimesTen(TT) and facing the issue of installing TimesTen on the same machine as the Oracle DB(this is our project requirement ). I am trying to install on Solaris 32bit machine with 64GB RAM. When i installed only TT there is no issue. But I am not able to installed if I installed Oracle DB and after that I installed TimesTen on same machine.
Further if I tried to installed the TT with less size i.e.128MB along with oracle DB on same machine it installed successfully . But when i tried TimesTen with 16GB size it doesn't installed successfully along with oracle DB. Also, I tried to installed only TimesTen with size 16GB it installed without any error.
Could you please let me know what could be the possible reason for the above behavior.
Also i read in some threads in the same forum mentioning that "it is not recommend to installing TimesTen on the same machine as the Oracle DB as they can contend for resources (memory and CPU). Could you please elobrate more on this what kind of issues can possibly occur in this kind of scenario.
Please let me know in case more information is required.
    Thanks in advance !!!
    Regards,
    Sanjay

Can you please explain what you mean by 'install' in this context? Memory size is not an installation time option with TimesTen. It sounds to me like you mean 'am not able to configure a TimesTen database to use xxx MB/GB of memory' rather than 'unable to install TimesTen'?
With a 32-bit operating system the largest TimesTen database you will be able to create is 2 GB. If you need a larger TimesTen database then you need to run 64-bit TimesTen on a 64-bit OS.
It general it really isn't a good idea to run TimesTen on the same machine as the Oracle database. Perhaps you can share what your overall objectives are? WHat are you looking to achieve by using TimesTen? If we understand that we can give better advice.

  • Help on installing Lightroom 5 on two computers... I have used it on a PC, but now I have bought a MacBook Pro, can I install it with the same license? If not, can I delete it on the PC and use it on Mac instead??

    Hi all,
I just read, that you can't install lightroom 5 on the same license on two different platforms because of different services provided.
Is it possible to delete the PC-version and continue solely with the MacVersion!?
kind regards, and thanks in advance
    Andreas

Unless things have changed your Lightroom purchase can be used on two PC's, 2 Macs, or one of each.  You just need to download the Mac version and install it on the Mac.  You should not have to do anything with the PC installation.

  • IWeb - can both versions be on the same machine simultaneously?

After a lack of help from Apple regarding the slowness of sites made on iWeb (iLife 08) when viwed with Internet Explorer - some sort of compatability problem they still have to address - I was wondering....
Is the older version of iWeb (with which I had no problems whatsoever) able to be on my laptop along side the new iLife 08 version?
It'll mean re-constructing my sites, but at least people will be able to view them!!
    Thanks in advance

Its possible to run both versions on the same Mac but not advisable.
I keep iWeb '06 for maintaining sites but it is on an external drive which contains a bootable backup of my hard drive. This way I am not having to run both versions on the same drive.
If you do decide to try this, make sure you have backups of your domain files. Also put them in folders in your Home Folder.
Each time you switch applications you will have to swap them in and out of the applications folder, change out the preference file and launch the application by double clicking the appropriate domain file.
You have to keep a clear head and not get mixed up - you have been warned!

  • [SOLVED] Can I install Arch on the same PC, without a CD/USB/Netboot

    Hello
I'm kinda bored, and then I like to reinstall Arch over and over.. but I lack a CD/USB stick and/or another PC to do a PXE install, therefor..
Can I set up my current installation to boot into a new arch install when I reboot somehow?
    Thanks.

or extract kernel & initrd from archboot image, save it somewhere and create a grub entry - works fine for net installs
Ok I thought it was solved, but I was wrong.. here's what I did, hopefully you or someone else can help.
Downloaded the netinst image (160mb), copied:
    /mnt/iso/boot/archiso.img > /boot/archiso.img
    /mnt/iso/boot/vmlinuz26 > /boot/vmlinuz26-test
    Edited /boot/grub/menu.lst according to /mnt/iso/boot/isolinux.cfg
    # test
    title Arch test install
    root (hd0,0)
    kernel /vmlinuz26-test
    initrd /archiso.img archisolabel=ARCH_201005 tmpfs_size=75% locale=en_US.UTF-8
Now, whenever I boot this.. it says "Waiting 30 seconds for device /disk-by/uid.. lots of dots here.
Ideas? I'd like to avoid making a new partition as suggested in the wiki, as it requires me to load a live cd of sorts anyway, so I can shrink one of my partitions.
    Thanks :-)!

  • Can multiple remote desktops control the same machine at the same time?

Can anyone please tell me if this set up possible:
    mac mini running XP app
iMac logged into to control that app
ibook logged in to control that app
of course, only one person actually moving the mouse / using the keyboard at one time.
    Miklos.

What I want it for is for both computers to be able to control a mac mini and the reason I want them both to be able to be logged in, is because I know at some point I"m going to go to the other end of the building, forget to log out of one, and need to use the other, and then I'll just shoot myself in the foot with the whole set up if you know what I mean. Mostly nobody else will use it just me so this is really helpful!

  • I can't install yosemite, got the error message, that i have to use App Store to download it

I have been reinstalling OSX, but now i can't update to yosemite or install iMovie and iphoto again. I just get the message, that I have to use app store t download the programs, but i'm already using app store, any one who knows what to do? I already have the Mavericks installed.

    OS Recovery
Boot up from your computer by holding down the command+r keys.  This will take you to the recovery drive.
Select Disk Utility & hit Return.
In Disk Utility select the HD on the left & click on Repair Disk (bottom right).
When done, go back to your desktop by restarting your computer.  Try the AppStore again.  If still not working see if Yosemite can be downloaded from Apple's Download website.

  • Forms 6i and developer 10g on the same machine

Can i have forms 6i and developer 10g on the same machine

    Jacob,
Were you installing any patches to the Forms 6i?? I think your problem was a mix up in the environmental variables.
multiple versions of the same Oracle product CAN* be installed successfully on the same machine, it has been done by many.
Do not generalize one experience, since you are working on VMware, try them on one, it's easy to revert to a snapshot ;)
Install Forms 6i first patch it configure it and restart your machine and install DS 10g, On this machine I have Forms 6i and DS 10g installed at this same moment, and it's been working fine for that last 2 years.

  • Oracle8i IAS9i on the same machine running RH6.2

    Hi there,
I have Oracle8i intalled on my RH 6.2 machine. I would like to try out IAS9i. According to the installation guide, it seems that IAS9i would prefer to have its own machine. Is it possible to configure them to work together? What should be done?
    Thank you very much!

  • How to install iFS and iAS on the same machine?

I have successfully installed iFS on a Windows NT 4 machine. Now, I would like to install iAS Enterprise Edition on the same machine. The installation guide for iAS says that I should first deinstall all products from the default ORACLE_HOME. I have not found a clue as to what to do if I want to keep the software already installed.
Would it work if I tried (after installing iAS) re-install iFS using different ORACLE_HOME directory?
Is there a white paper or any other document that would clear up the issues involved in installing Oracle products in ORACLE_HOME?
    Thanks a lot,
    Marek

You can install IAS on the same machine that Oracle and IFS are on. Install IAS into a new Oracle Home (i.e. D:\IAS).
    This worked for me.
I am still waiting to hear how (look for my post about 20 below yours) how to configure IFS to use the Apache Web Server that is part of IAS.
    Good Luck.
Maybe one of these days Oracle will create an IAS discussion forum. This is my third request and I haven't heard anything back from them yet.

  • Need help:server client in the same machine

    hello all,
i want to install oracle client and server on the same machine(cause i only have got one)
    to do that,
for server installation i did the following:
    # mkdir /u01
    ; /u01
    # cd /u01
    # mkdir -p app/oracle/oradata
    # groupadd dba
    # groupadd oinstall
    # groupadd oracle
    # useradd -g dba -G oinstall,oracle -m oracle -d /u01/app/oracle
; risumi des caractiristiques du compte Linux oracle
    ; user : oracle
    ; groupe principal: dba
    ; groupe secondaire: oinstall, oracle
    ; ripertoire par difaut: /u01/app/oracle
    # cd /u01
    # chown -R oracle.dba /u01
    ; virification des droits
    # ls -l /u01/app/oracle
    # ls -l /u01/oradata
    # passwd oracle
    # more /etc/passwd
    # more /etc/group
; sortie de votre session root
    # exit
    $ su - oracle
in .bash_profile(file) i wrote the follwing parameters :
    export DISPLAY=localhost:0.0
    export ORACLE_BASE=/u01/app/oracle
    export ORACLE_HOME=$ORACLE_BASE/product/8.1.6
    export PATH=$PATH:$ORACLE_HOME/bin
    export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$ORACLE_HOME/lib:/lib:/usr/lib
    export ORACLE_SID=TEST
    export ORACLE_TERM=vt100
    export NLS_LANG=french_france.WE8DEC
    export ORA_NLS33=$ORACLE_HOME/ocommon/nls/admin/data
    the oracle server works fine!
So, the server installation directory is /u01/app/oracle/product/8.1.6
what i have to do for client installation in the same machine:
do i have to create a new groups(dba,oinstall...)?
do i have a new directory to install oracle client?
can somebody give me any information?
    Thank's a lot in advance
    null

You can install your client parts in the same ORACLE_HOME as the server as long as they are of the same version. In fact, a lot of the client has already been installed, since it is part of the server installation.
If your client is of a different version than your server you will have to install it in a different ORACLE_HOME. You can do this using the same oracle user.
