Can i install 800MHz memory on my mid 2007 imac?
I'd like to upgrade the memory on my imac: 24 inc mid 2007 (iMac7,1).
It currenlty have a 1GB stick and a 2GB stick. Both 667MHz DDR2 SDRAM. Can I install 2x2GB DDR2 of 800MHz? and if so, would that be an performance improvement?
Specs:
24in iMac7,1
Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4GHz
Bus Peed 800 MHz
Memory: 3GB (as above both 667MHz)
Thanks
You are welcome. That is the same machine as mine (20" version). Although Apple rates it as accepting 4gB, outside vendors have tested it with 6gB. This happens quite often with quoted RAM quantities.
Maximum Memory 6.0 GB (Actual) 4.0 GB (Apple)
Memory Slots 2 - 200-pin PC2-5300 (667MHz) DDR2 SO-DIMM

Yes. Recommended in pairs. So 2x2GB + 2x4GB SO DIMMS for a total of 12 would be fine.

How can i add memory to my mid 2007 IMAC
how can i add memory to my IMAC
You can have up to 6GB of memory for that model.
Many people on these forums speak well of the following memory suppliers.
In North America contact OWC … Upgrade Apple iMac Memory
In Europe contact Crucial.com … RAM Memory Upgrade
Both companies have facilities to guide you and will recommend the correct memory package to meet whatever needs you describe to them.
There may be benefits buying from whichever company has a branch in your own geographical location insofar as Shipping charges, Local sales taxes and Exchange rates. Check out the basic memory costs and do your sums.

Can I use faster memory in Mid-2007 iMac?
I currently have factory spec (1 GB) memory in my 20" (Mid-2007) iMac. Specs for memory in this machine say I need pc2-5300, unbuffered, non-parity, 200-pin, 667MHz DDR2 SDRAM. I noticed my hardware has an 800 Mhz bus.
1) Can I use 800 Mhz RAM that is otherwise the same spec?
2) How important is CAS Latency (e.g., the installed memory is spec'd as CL=5, the 800 Mhz RAM all seems to be CL=6)?
Any help is greatly appreciated!I totally agree with lenn5! Many folks here in the forum have reported all sorts of problems, everything from kernal panics to won't even boot when they installed the 800MHz ram. You will see a great improvement in performance by adding another 1GB or 2GB module in the empty slot, or max it out with a 2x2GB kit.

Can I install more memory on a mac mini
Can I install more memory on a mac mini?
Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Of course. You can upgrade the RAM always that you do not have a Late 2014 Mac mini (I am not sure that you can install more RAM, and if you can, it will void the warranty), and you can purchase more RAM at OWC or Crucial.

Can I install Mountain Lion 64-bit over top of 32-bit version installed by mistake. Machine is 24-inch mid 2007 iMac with Intel Core 2 Duo (64-bit?)
Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Mountain Lion is a full 64-bit operating system. Why do you think Mountain Lion is 32-bit in your computer?
To check that you are definitely using a 64-bit operating system, open Terminal (in /Applications/Utilities) and type:
uname -a
Then, tell us what you see at the end after RELEASE. If you see i386, you are running a 32-bit operating system. If you see x86_64, you are using a 64-bit operating system. Also, the processor of your Mac is 64-bit -
Mid-2007 iMac Running Mavericks Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit Install
How do I go about installing a Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit (OEM) partition on a mid-2007 iMac running Mavericks?
Apple says that 64-bit Windows 7 isn't supported by my model iMac, but I know for a fact that other people have gotten it to work. I'm just a little unclear on how exactly to do it. In any case, I made the mistake of buying two copies of Windows 7 64-bit under the assumption that they would install just fine on my iMac and MacBook Pro (MacBook Pro is from 2007 as well), so I need to get this working.
What version of Boot Camp should I use? What version support drivers should I download? Apple says that Boot Camp 5.1, which is what I have, is incompatible with my iMac, and it says the same thing for every driver download that supports 64-bit versions of Windows 7, but would it be correct to say that this "incompatibility" is only the case if I don't first modify my Windows 7 installation disc according to the instructions in the attached link?
There is a Windows XP partition on my MacBook Pro, so I figure I can get on it to modify the installation disc before attempting a 64-bit Windows 7 install on the iMac.

4 hrs later - Computer shut down after installing new RAM (mid 2007 Imac)
Mid 2007 imac and I installed new Ram. It worked for 4 hrs then the Imac shutdown. The pressed power button but no power. Unplugged and replugged the power cord and 3 beeps sounded. I am wondering if it worked for 4 hrs or so, then why did it would it fail 4 hrs later?
I am running the correct ram because in system profiler under memory - it said that everything was ok.
Any ideas?or maybe the back tray wasn't tight enough?
I re-installed it now and so far so good.... I pressed tight and in an upwards motion. We'll see what happens -
Met with a white screen after installing Snow Leopard on Macbook (mid 2007)
After installing Snow Leopard on my Mid 2007 mac book pro I was prompted to restart. I restarted and the computer turned on but only got as far as a white screen that stays white with no further activity for an indefinite amount of time. I've restarted the computer a few times with the same results. How do I fix this and get past the white screen?!
Try booting into "verbose mode". That will cause a series of messages to appear on the screen during the boot process. When that stalls (presuming it does so), write down the last few messages and post them as a reply.
You might also try running the diagnostics that came with that Mac. Depending on the model, you can boot with the "system restore disc" in the machine with the "D" key held down to run those. Run the diagnostics several times. -

Hello all, can I install windows XP with bootcamp on my iMac which is now on Maverick? Please advise. Thank you.
Install 7. Don't bother with applying drivers and such, just reboot again from DVD and install again, it will see the existing system and this time activation will be possible.
Vista is mess, takes longer etc. Hope you have SP1 version of 7. And for Vista, only SP2+ are even supported now, by MS. -

Can't install Adobe Photoshop Elements 9 onto my iMac from CD
I can't install Adobe Photoshop Elements 9 onto my iMac I just purchased. The software is brand new, the CD appears to read fine. The instillation "on-screen" instructions are not popping up. I have had the software a minute, purchased it new but was waiting till I could afford an iMac. Any suggestions?
How are you using a CD with a new imac? They haven't had disc drives in years.
Try downloading from here and use the serial number from your boxed version:
Download Photoshop Elements products | 9, 8, 7
However, there are a couple of other things to try. First of all, PSE 9 has both mac and windows discs. If the disc doesn't mount on the desktop, then you've got the wrong one. Go get the other one and when it appears on the desktop, double click it. Then double click Adobe Photoshop Elements 9, double click Install/Setup (can't remember which it was for PSE 9, sorry). There is no automatic install for PSE for mac, since macs have no autoplay function for security reasons, and there isn't any window with instructions, either. You just keep double clicking till it installs. -
I have a mid 2007 iMac (Model A1224 iMac 7,1) and the internal superdrive audio cd won't play, the DVD works. Can I purchase an external cd drive that will work with my iMac?
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
Any external optical drive will work with your Mac. If you want an Apple USB SuperDrive, see > http://www.tuaw.com/2012/04/02/use-the-macbook-air-superdrive-with-any-almost-ma c/
The best option is to take the Mac to an Apple Store and get the Mac's SuperDrive repaired
