Can I install a graphics card on my HP Envy 23-d030?
I bought the HP Envy 23 a couple months ago but only until recently have I tried gaming on it. I quickly realized that the integreted graphics were not sufficient to play games like Battlefield 3 properly, even at their lowest graphical settings. So I was wondering if there is anyway to intall a better graphics card on this All-In-One. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

can i find a graphics card that will install in that computer.There are many MANY threads on this, the answer is that it's not worth your time since you have to have a replacement card that the HP system BIOS already likes,, and this is not the same as replacing anything in a desktop, this is the equivalent of replacing the graphics in a laptop.
Since the graphics cards are not considered a user upgradable component there are no lists of "approved cards" nor guides to doing it, the closest you could do is the service or recycling disassembly sheets. -

The express card slot is designed for express cards. Its similar to PCMCIA cards.
You will not find a graphic card that is designed for the express card slot. For these slot you can buy USB extension cards for example.

Satellite L350-159 - Can I install a graphics card?
Hello everyone, I got a friend to check what graphics card I had the other day, as I play games and noticed that the graphics weren't fantastic. He checked it out and then told me I actually haven't got a proper graphics card!
I'd love to remedy this, but is there any way to get into the laptop to install a graphics card? and if so, what kind of graphics card would you recommend? some are rather big, and i'm not sure they could fit. I noticed some panels on the bottom of my laptop that can be screwed off - do one of those lead to a place to put a graphics card?

The graphic card cant be exchanged because its soldered on the mainboard. So thats not possible to exchange it.

As Akuma said the point is that the Satellite L series is not designed for gaming. I have a Satellite L300 and a Qosmio X300. The Satellite L is really great for my work, picture editing, E-Mails and office. The X300 is really perfect for games Its fast enough for all games I have.

HP actually loaned me a very similar laptop last year...an Envy 17-j029nr that had the 750M graphics and while the video was way above average, it was not a true gaming laptop. HP is not going to accept it back in trade after you have used it but it can be sold still for a decent sum and you can use the proceeds to buy a gaiming laptop. You might consider the HP Omen. It has nVidia 860 graphics with up to 4 gigs of DDR5 I believe for maybe $2200 all in. Right now I have the lower model Omen on loan from HP but mine is the version with the DDR3 video memory. It is much stronger than the 750M video in my old loaner. Oh, and there is no way to upgrade what you have. The 750M was the best video offered in that model line. It is soldered to the motherboard so there is no "card" to remove and replace. if this is "the Answer" please click "Accept as Solution" to help others find it.

Can't install a graphic card driver.
Hi,
I recently installed Windows XP Home Edition on my Mac succesfully and installed all the drivers etc...
But one day, I decided to install an official updated graphic card driver from the nVidia official site. When I run the install process, it says that it can't find compatible drivers with my hardware, even though I downloaded the correct version of it ( 9M GeForce series for notebooks for Windows XP 32bit, and my 9600M GT was in the list of compatible cards)
Maybe it has something to do with the fact that my Windows isn't really a PC or something, that it is emulated I dunno. I haven't installed an anti-virus yet, maybe it's because of that ?
Please note that I installed Windows only to play games, so is it a problem not having the latest graphic card ?
Sincerely.sometimes I wonder why respond when it is usually just to direct people to other forums, which seems to be a habit, and they would have directed you to VMware or Parallels site normally.
I figure people do know what they are doing after a while, and don't install drivers unless they are running Windows, and I detest the "I'm running Boot Camp" which is senseless, Boot Camp is just not something you can "run" and is only a set of drivers (and services or tasks).
Okay... as I alluded to, XP doesn't allow installing graphic drivers. Not embedded or mobility. People had to run to modified drivers from laptop2go or elsewhere. It is up to Apple etc to normally provide such drivers.

And yes, IF it was a PC, and if drivers were kept current, and if you could boot into BIOS and make necessary changes.
With Windows 7, uninstalling graphic driver in Device Manager and let Windows install its own might work. -

Hi,
No, you can't upgrade the graphics chip as it's a shared Intel graphics. You couldn't also upgrade a dedicated graphics like nVidia or ATI ones as it is soldered to the motherboard. The only way how to upgrade a graphics chip on a laptop like this is to replace the motherboard by a compatible one with a more powerful chip on it.

The whole issue is really mysterious. In my opinion there are two options;
Either your have used and tried to install a wrong graphic driver or there is something wrong with your GPU chip.
Are you 100% that you tired an right graphic driver from the Toshiba European driver page?
If yes, then I recommend contacting the ASP in your country because this could be really an hardware issue.

Sadly I don't think it will be possible to replace your Trident graphics card with another because it is an integrated design which is using shared RAM. In effect your graphics card has been specifically designed to fit in your notebook and finding a similarly designed card from another manufacturer would be virtually impossible.
Unlike desktop or tower PCs where the graphics card is a separate device which can just be unplugged and replaced, the graphics chip in your notebook is usually integrated into the design in order to save space.

I have a Tecra A6 A60E (171) with 1Gb memory and the Intel Express 950 video chipset set at max memory useage 128Mb.
Is it possible to either upgrade the memory allocation to 256Mb max or install a graphics card?

And yes, if you have more RAM you will get more video RAM. As far as I know up to 256MB video RAM are possible.

G50-45 Can't Install AMD Graphic Drivers
Hello,
I just bought this laptop and I downloaded the updated drivers from Lenovo site, but I can't install AMD graphic drivers.
The screen went black during installation and stayed black for almost 40 minutes (then I rebooted the laptop).
So I tried to download AMD drivers through their Autodetect software, and during the installation the screen showed weird colors, mostly green but in a "old fashioned 8 bit way" we can say.
What should I do?
Also, I can't use the dedicated graphic card (Radeon HD 8500M): the laptop keep using the integrated card, which makes every game running slowly. I already tried to set which card an application must use through Catalyst Control Panel, but it doesn't work.

While anything is theoretically possible, you would need to find another GPU that is compatible with your specific model iMac, and you would need to modify OS X to use a driver appropriate for whatever you propose to install. Future OS X updates would break it in short order. Not only that, you'd void whatever warranty that remains. It's not worth it.

i am installing a graphics card in an HP7800. a simple question, how do you remove the metal dust cover? it used to be simple just remove the screw but there are no scews i can see, just metal tabs. do i just bash it out? there must be a better way than that.

I am providing you with the HP Support document: Upgrading and Servicing the PC Guide. If you reference the section titled "Installing Add-In Cards" you will see the steps to removing the dust cover as you are inquiring about. Step 7 Pull the add-in card bracket up and out. and Step 8 If you’re adding a new card to a previously unused slot, remove the expansion slot cover.
There are diagrams as well to show you what you should be looking for.

my imac keeps on dropping out of the wireless network, when hardwired i have no problem. I also have a laptop,printer and ipod, all of which work fine. need advice or suggestion.
