Can I install a Nvidia GeForce GTX 660 into my HP laptop?

Hi I was wondering if I could possibly install a new graphics card into my HP laptop? My laptop is a HP 15-d051sa 15.6" so you can search it up on Google.
My specs:
RAM: 8gb
HDD: 1TB
Processor: Intel(R) Pentium(R) CPU N3510 2Ghz (2mb cache)
Graphics: Intel HD Graphics
I think they're all the specifications I need to mention for you guys to help me.
-Thanks Zack.

No it cannot be done. The video system is part of the motherboard and cannot be changed. Even if you were to change to the best HP 15 motherboard it has graphics much less powerful than the GTX 660 and the motherboard swap would cost as much as the laptop did to begin with.

Hi, I would like to know if I can install an NVIDIA Geforce to a macbook pro 13".

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
The 13-inch MacBook Pro comes with an integrated GPU that can't be replaced because it's required by the processor or that is soldered onto the logic board. There isn't any other port to connect a GPU, so you can't install another GPU onto the MacBook Pro.

I posted something similar before but can someone tell me if I have the right cooling, motherboard ect. to run a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 graphics card. I have a HP Pavilion 500-319na and the product number is G9B00EA#ABU. I know I need a better power supply which is why is I'm upgrading to 500w. Btw the reason I'm asking is because I have no idea about unscrewing my computer and checking the motherboard and all of that so any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I've tried using nouveau and the binary NVIDIA driver, I experience the same issue with both.

I've tried booting with only the TV plugged in (no desktop monitor on DVI), that also made no difference (with the HDMI).

  • NVIDIA - GeForce GTX 660 Ti 2GB GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 Graphics Card

How difficlut is it to replace a grphic card in a HP P6210Y

Here are the specs for your HP Pavilion p6210y Desktop Computer. According to the specs, this model has a PCIe x16 graphics card slot and a 300 watt power supply. In theory, the computer's PCIe x16 slot is v2.0 and a PCIe x16 v3.0 graphics card should work in this slot. You will need an open space next to the PCIe x16 slot to accomodate the GTX 660 Ti. Please see "Adding or Replacing an Expansion Card (Video Card, Sound Card, etc...)" for instructions on installing a graphics card in your computer.
You will also need to replace the power supply with a unit rated to work with your new graphics card. It appears the minimum system power supply requirement for the GTX 660 Ti series of cards is 600 watts. Please consider the Corsair CX600 or CX600M for your power supply needs. The Corsair CX600M is modular, which allows for better cable management and air flow in the HP case. Please see "Replacing the Power Supply" for instructions on installing a new power supply in your computer.

  • Can HP Workstation z600 support Nvidia Gefore GTX 660 ti?

    Hi every one,
I have a HP Workstation z600 and I install a Nvidia Geforce GTX 660 ti video card into it. I used for 4 months without problems, but last week when I was using the computer this shut down by him self and a red light comes with 4 beep sounds; Additionally, the power supply green light does not do anything. I check on internet about that problem and what I found was that this is because the power supply is dead.
I suspect my video card burned my power supply, because the power supply is only for single 6 pin of power and the video card that I have is for two-6 pin of power. My video card works on a single 6 pin of power supply, because I adapted an extra Molex connector in my card. I check on interet about which video card are supported by my computer and I found the Nvidia Quadro 5000 and Nvidia Quadro k5000 are good for my computer.
The thing is, I want to know if Z600 can really support the GTX 660 ti? I am worrying because I do not want to buy another power supply for my computer and this can burned again.
Here are some photos of how I connected my video card to my computer.

    Hi:
According to the specs for the z600, it has a 650W power supply and the GTX660 ti requires a 450W power supply, so theoretically, the card should not have blown the P/S.

  • NVIDIA GeForce GTX 285 and 10.6.4

Hello, so I have a Mac Pro 3.2GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon and installed the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 285. when I updated to 10.6.4 last night I started getting a lot of flickers and really weird graphical things on the screen and the computer would freeze. In my CUDA pane under system preferences it says that the update server is unavailable and that an update is required...
    CUDA Driver Version: 3.0.14
    GPU Driver Version: 1.6.16.11 (19.5.8f01)
I thought these were the latest and greatest... no? What should I do?

I assume you know what Nvidia's GPGPU and CUDA (as well as PhysX) are and about, and how Adobe and Nvidia have shown what can be done off-loading some of the work the processor use to have to do.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CUDA - has been updated recently too. It is NOT just aimed at OpenCL.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OpenCL
    http://developer.nvidia.com/object/cuda3_0downloads.html
Maybe there is some porting of CUDA to OpenCL going on though, depending how you read it. From Nvidia:
OpenCL (Open Computing Language) is a new cross-vendor standard for heterogeneous computing that runs on the CUDA architecture. Using OpenCL, developers will be able to harness the massive parallel computing power of NVIDIA GPU’s to create compelling computing applications.
As the OpenCL standard matures and is supported on processors from other vendors, NVIDIA will continue to provide the drivers, tools and training resources developers need to create GPU accelerated applications.
    http://www.nvidia.com/object/cudaopenclnew.html
10.6.3 brought new APIs. OpenCL 1.1 was just now finalized.
And of course, a lot of people are able to turn to Flash 10.1 and use GPU if they GPU is from Nvidia.
One Mac Pro owner has both ATI 4870 for display purposes, the GTX 285, getting power from 450W PSU placed in lower optical drive bay, for handling rendering and GPGPU tasks.

  • After effects and  NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680 2048 MB

I've installed the  NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680 2048 MB on a Mac Pro 3,2 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon running OSX 10.9.4 but it seems AE doesn't take advantage of the new hardware and the CUDA technology. The ATI Radeon HD 5770 1024 MB mounted before, went for the same rendering times. Am I missing any setting in the software or isn't the graphic card the perfect choice for fastening my rendering processes?
Ae obviously recognize the Nvidia and the CUDA settings should be ok....
    Any Idea?
    Andrea

AE only takes advantage of CUDA for ray traced features, which is being phased out. To get the most out of your render times, invest in processing power and RAM. I upgraded to the Titan Black and noticed hardly any difference in my render times. Check out this response given by AE's Todd Kopriva on Sept 24, 2014 at Creative Cow: CUDA does not accelerate : Adobe After Effects

  • Can a Packard Bell Aspire M3802/M5802 support a nVidia GeForce GTX 750?

Hi. I have a  Packard Bell Aspire M3802/M5802. It has an Acer motherboard (G43T-AM), 8gb ram (ddr2, 800mHz), an Intel CPU (Q8300 quad core 2,5GHz @2,5GHz, don't remember the clock). So my question is: can this PC handle a nVidia GeForce GTX 750?

    Black_Bullet,
The GeForce GTX 750 uses PCI Express 3.0, the AM-3802 and AM-5802 both have PCI Express 2.0; but it should work since the PCI Express slots are backwards compatible. The only issue I can see would be that the BIOS would not support the card itself.
From what I can tell we only received one BIOS so I would reccomend you get a video card with legacy mode/switch or rom option. The MSI GTX-750 Ti has dual BIOS so you can do EFI/LEGACY, http://www.amazon.com/MSI-Computer-Corp-N750TI-2GD5/dp/B00I6DLIB8, if that helps.

After Effects uses your CPU and RAM Primarily, not the GPU.
You only need NVIDIA CUDA for one function: the acceleration of ray-traced 3D compositions. Your newer Maxwell NVIDIA GPU does not contain the OptiX Library necessary for this function so it will not ever work for accelerating ray-traced 3D compositions. Sorry.
The After Effects team is no longer working on this feature and suggests that you use Cinema 4D Lite (bundled) for your 3D work instead. There are also some great third party options for adding 3D elements to After Effects compositions like Invigorator Pro and Video Copilot Element 3D.
    Hope that clears things up.
    Thanks,

  • Installing NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780 problem

I have QU297AA#ABG h8- 1130a as bought from retail and planned to do some upgrades. I purchased the NVidia GeForce GTX 780 Graphics Card and was told I would also need a 600W or better power supply, so I also purchased a 750W one. I have installed everything correctly (to my knowledge) and when I try to boot up the PC, it reaches the welcome screen which is blue and with the HP logo asking me to "press escape for startup menu". That does not work and the PC then beeps 4 times with long pauses in between before changing to a black screen at which I have to hard shut down the PC.
I know that the power supply is fine becuase when I saw back to the graphics factory card, it is fine. I have read a lot of support FAQs and they have told me to update the BIOS and to uninstall my old graphics driver. I have done both and the problem still persists. I have upgraded my BIOS from AMI 7.09 22/7/2011 to AMI 7.12 12/10/2011 which was the latest available.
According to the EVGA manual, the beeping sounds are from one of the following:
    1. The card is not seated properly (unlikely).
    2. There is a problem with the motherboard's graphic card slot (impossible, as the other one works).
    3. Supplemental PCI-E power is not connected to the graphics card (it most definetely is).
    4. Graphics card problem (unlikely, it is brand new).
It then says the problem is probably with the motherboard and to contact you.
I hope this has been enough information but I would like to know all of my options.

I will take a look at the specs on your MOBO o see which PCIe spec the slot is. The specs don't state the version. I will have to ask an HP internal source. It may take a day for me to get back to you, but as soon as I know, you will as well.

Sorry for the inconvenience. NVIDIA is currently working on drivers that support CUDA on Mavericks 10.9 with some of the older NVIDIA cards such as the GTX 285 and the Quadro 4800.
For others interested, the Quadro 4000, K5000 and GTX 680 ect... work with CUDA in 10.9.
