Can I install an oracle patch on XE 11g?

Customer Problem Description
Problem Summary
Not able to install the patch '69552 - Oracle TNS Listener Remote Poisoning' on CentOS Linux server
Problem Description
1. We have ORACLE XE installed on CentOS Linux server. Our oracle home is /u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/xe/
2. I downloaded OPatch version 11.1.0.10.2 for Linux 64 bit and the patch number 12880299 for '69552 - Oracle TNS Listener Remote Poisoning' from oracle support web page.
3. I tried to apply the patch '69552 - Oracle TNS Listener Remote Poisoning' using the following command:
/opatch apply -JDK $JAVA_HOME /home/oracle/12880299/
4. I get the following error:
Applying interim patch '12880299' to OH '/u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/xe'
Verifying environment and performing prerequisite checks...
Log file location: /u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/xe/cfgtoollogs/opatch/opatch2014-06-30_11-49-36AM_1.log
Recommended actions: Please make sure no other OPatch or OUI processes is running. Try to run $ORACLE_HOME/oui/bin/runInstsaller.
OPatch failed with error code 20
$ cd $ORACLE_HOME/OPatch/
$ ./opatch version
OPatch Version: 11.1.0.10.2
5. I also see the following in the log file generated by opatch:
OPatch found incompatible or invalid applicable product type with respect to the Oracle Home.
[Jun 30, 2014 11:49:39 AM] OUI-67035:System is intact, OPatch will not restore the system
Note: I am not sure if I downloaded the correct versions of the opatch and the patch for '69552 - Oracle TNS Listener Remote Poisoning' or not.

  • Can i install/run  oracle 8i in win xp

    can i install/run oracle 8i in windows xp ?

yes u can install ora 8i in win xp pro
    Windows XP Home Edition
Oracle 8i is not certified on windows XP. Even if yes, it must be Windows XP Professional.
You can install Oracle8i on windows XP Home Edition, try like this:
1 - Copy your Oracle CD into hard disk in your
machine. For example Copy from oracle8i CD into C:\Oracle\ ...
2 - Search the two files named Symcjit.dll on the D drive (where you have copied Oracle8i. You can found them in (example):
    C:\Oracle\stage\Components\oracle.swd.jre\1.1.7.30\1
    \DataFiles\Expanded\jre\win32\bin\symcjit.dll
3 - Rename this file (Example): symcjit_back.dll (make sure to find two files and rename them)
    4 - Execute the Oracle setup.exe from C:\Oracle\setup.exe
    =================================================================
When Oracle 8i dies on the install or the installer hangs, here is the fix for this, make sure that you have Service Pack 2 installed.
    1. \JRE\1.3.1\ From Sun. (You can download java program at http://java.sun.com/products/jdk/1.1/jre/download-jre-windows.html)
    2. Install the java file.
There is also a problem in the installation disk.
    3. Make a copy of the Oracle 8i disk on the local hard disk.
    4. Do a search for the two files called symcjit.dll and rename them for example: symcjit.old.
    5. Install Oracle from the win32 directory.

I figured out the solution so I thought I would post it. Basically I didn't have the "- silent" piece included. Once I included it the patch ran in silent mode.

  • CS4 Web Suite.  Can't install the latest patch in Acrobat Pro

When I attempt to install the latest patch I get an error saying that my version has been modified and that I need to remove and re-install Acrobat Pro CS4.
The only modification I have made to it has been the installs of ghe various Adobe patches that are sent to me via the Update scheme.
I them put my install disk in so I can remove Acrobat, but it just sits for hours saying it is preparing to install CS4.
This same thing happened after the last update.. but I was able to remove Acrobat and was able to do the re-install.
How can I get this thing to work properly?
    Thanks in advance

  • Can't install Personal Oracle 8i for NT

So that we may better diagnose DOWNLOAD problems, please provide the following information.
    - Server name NONE
    - Filename NT817 Personal.zip
    - Date/Time 2/7/2002
    - Browser + Version IE 5.5
    - O/S + Version NT 4.0
    - Error Msg NONE
I downloaded and unzipped the above named file. When I try to run setup.exe, the cursor blinks to an hour glass for a milisecond and then nothing. Some advice I've had from others has been to:
    1. Check for a folder called c:\ProgramFiles\oracle\inventory\locks and make sure there
is nothing in there. Folder does not exist.
    2. Make sure I have sufficient free space on drive c: to allow for the log files. I have approx 500mb free space.
Any assistance would be most appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Scott

  • Install the oracle patch with OPatch

    Hi:
the error "ORA 3106" happened when the BW system was drawing out the
data from the CRM system . I found the note "1005758 - ORA 3106 in
Oracle 10.2.0.2",so I downloaded the oracle patch p5092134 and p6646850. I upgraded the opatch version to 10.2.0.2.5 and executed the
command "opatch apply " in the patch "6646850" folder, but the process
stopped at the phase "Backing up files affected by the patch '6646850'
for rollback. This might take a while...", why?

    Hi:

In addition to Ashok's note about kvlite, see this FAQ entry on how to install NoSQL Database on a single machine for early prototyping - http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/nosqldb/learnmore/nosqldb-faq-518364.html#HowtocreatemultipleStorageNodesonthesamemachine

    Hello,
Any specific reason or just test purposes? As i mentioned you should be able to do it, but make sure you set your env correctly according to your version and refer to following oracle Universal installer doc for more details

  • Can i install standard oracle in HACMP?

    hello
i want to install oracle - not RAc on HACMP
    with virtual listner.
did i need something speical to know?
so - in the finish - i want to install two oracle home on two servers on one DB
and just one in the air. and when the HACMP failover
i shutdown the oracle and start the second .
    thanks

Try running a search in OTN forums with "HACMP" keyword. The resulting pages might prove helpful.
Also, googling with "HACMP Oracle" results in a good number of results. Since you are looking for non-RAC setup, you will need to scroll through the results.

  • MS VS 2008 post install step; Oracle patch 9491976 failed while relinking

    Hi,
I am installaing R12.1 on Windows 2008 Enterprise (SP1) server with Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 and cygwin as pre requisite softwares. The installation has got completed and I was even able to run a test concurrent program successfully.
Now, as part of post installation step (MS Visual Studio 2008 and Visual C++ 2008 Express for Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12 on Windows [ID 1070674.1]) applied the patch 9491976 and it error's out with relinking error.
All the relinking of the executables has failed in that patch and below is the gist of one such error message,
The error in the adrelink.log is as follows,

See error messages above (also recorded in log file) for possible
reasons for the failure. Also, please check that the Unix userid
running adrelink has read, write, and execute permissions
    on the directory D:/oracle/VIS/apps/apps_st/appl/fnd/12.0.0/bin,
and that there is sufficient space remaining on the disk partition
    containing your Oracle Applications installation.

adrelink is exiting with status 1
There are not spaces in the directory were MS VS 2008 is installed and the variable is set to "Set MSVCPP=C:/VS2008/VC"
Please review and advice if anyone had faced this issue.
