Can I install and run Tiger on a slave hard drive?

I apologize if this has been covered somewhere, but I did a search and couldn't find it.
I want to be able to boot to another internal drive that I have in case of emergencies, etc. with my main Tiger OS hard drive (an external firewire drive).
Anyway, I already have an OS 9 hard drive in there and it's set to master (with slave present) with the pins on the drive. But, there is another drive (set to slave) that would be perfect for my extra Tiger OS install.
Will I be able to boot from this "slave" hard drive after I install Tiger on it?
Thanks for your time.

can i download and run itunes from an external hard drive?

The iTunes application should be on the boot drive but you can keep the iTunes library on an external.
hold Shift when launching iTune sand select Create library and select the external.
This will create an iTunes folder on the external with all the library files and all media will also go into this folder.

How can I install and run a Windows program on my MacBook Pro?

    You have several options.
1, Use a Virtual Machine like Vmware, Parallels etc... to Create a Virtual Windows Installation and Run your program in there.  A Virtual MAchine will runn in a Window on your Desktop and share your Mac's resources RAM HD space processor. Your MAc desktop will still be available while you run Windows install.

    2. Install Windows on a partition using Bootcamp. It will run a full installation of Windows you can boot into, and run your programs.  The Mac desktop will not available until your reboot the computer and start in OSx instead of Windows.

  • Can I install and run Photoshop CS2 on a Windows 7 64Bit OS?

I just purchased a computer It is a Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit OS.  Can I install and run Photoshop CS2?  What issues would I have?

For what it's worth I have Photoshop CS2 running fine on Vista x64, but I've not moved it over to my Windows 7 x64 machine.  Generally speaking, things that work fine on Vista x64 work fine on Windows 7 x64.
That said, you might want to wait until you hear from someone who's actually tried the exact combination themselves.

Can I install and run the Beta version [...safely ] alongside my existing, working, FF3.6?
    If so, how?
FireFox is my main browser appliaction on a Windows XP machine and I will need it working...

If you want to test the beta, probably the easiest method is to install the portable test version on your hard drive. For details see method A as shown by the-edmeister here - http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=1062975
The portable test version is currently set to Firefox 4 beta 7.

Can I install and run Microsoft IE on MAC? If yes, how?

Microsoft has not written IE for Macs for a long time.
If you want to use IE on a Mac, you would have to use virtualizaiton software such as VMware or use BootCamp and install Windows.

  • Can you install 2 copies of CS3 on seperate hard drives?

In my office, I recently installed a raid 0 setup of 2 drives to install and run some applications in the hopes of alleviating some system strain and speed up everything overall. I'd like to install the entire suite to this new drive however I don't want to uninstall it from the C:\ drive due to time and possible problems. Not to mention, if I have issues or am unable to install it than it would lead to all sorts of unhappiness. We I can deactivate the one on the C:\ drive later if all works out well.
Can i keep my full CS3 suite on C:\ and have another full suite on D:\ ?

You can have the program on two different drives as long as you boot from the two different drives. One registry will not know about the other copy. You cannot use it installed run them from two different drives using one boot drive. The registry will get too confused.

  • Can I install and run TWO versions of iTunes in Win7?

Please, definitive answers only (as far as possible), and read the question properly before replying - it save creating a useless and confusing thread!!!
My problem: New iTunes is awful, I like using 'CoverFlow) for navigation. Omitting it from the newer version is a mistake.
How to resolve?: Can I, in a newly created (seperate Win7 folder from 'Program Files'), install an ADDITIONAL (and older) version, so that I don't have to uninstall the existing newer one?
My music resource is on an external hard-drive, so, theoretically, is available to more than one installation of iTunes variants?
I am NOT going to uninstall the new one I already have, as this is a 'normal' install which I shall upgrade accordingly.
Can I install another, to work temporarily until iTunes put back into their relseases 'CoverFlow', by simply installing it in a different location/folder, and then pointing both to the music resource.
Anyone tried this already, maybe even for the same reason as me, and got a definitive outcome if it works or not, without causing any conflicts?

Thanks. Yes, I am familiar with dual-booting systems. I often do this at work. But, again, not really answering my question:
Can I install 2 (different) versions of iTunes, on Win7 (just the one OS, or I would have said otherwise), if I install them into different folders.
I ask as I've never tried it, and don't particularly know all about iTunes.
To be honest, I'll just give up with this as a forum, as this is the 2nd time I've made a plain question as straight foward as a possibly can, to get an answer to a different one.

  • Can I install and use any 2.5" SATA hard disk on my Mac Mini (Late 2012)?

I have a Mac Mini (Late 2012) which is currently housing a 500GB SATA hard disk. Unfortunately read errors have been detected and it seems to be slowing down. I want to replace this with another 500GB SATA hard disk and I was wondering whether any notebook (2.5") hard disk would work or whether I have to look for one with specific specs (such as RPM, SATA version, etc).
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Any 2 1/2 inch STA HD will work as long as the height is 9.5 mm or less. All most all meet this requirement except very larger capacity ones
I would opt for a SSD since those are a lot faster than a 2 1/2 HD and now they are very reasonably priced.
You can consider installing a second disk to using:

  • Can I install windows 8.1 from windows ssd hard drive with bootcamp?

I recently bought a 2009 macbook pro wiht Maverick 10.9.  I had a PC running W8.1 on a crucial ssd.  The ssd is working fine, it was the motherboard that was broken.  I was wondering if I could image a partition on the macbook with the image software crucial provided to install W8.
    Any input can help
    Thanks

Instead of trying to copy the Windows copy you have on the SSD to the internal hard drive, what I would do is to buy a USB to SATA hard drive and connect the SSD to the Mac through the USB port, and then start up your Mac from it if you need to use Windows 8.1. To do it, hold the Option (Alt) key while your Mac is starting up.
Apple does not support Windows 8 on the 2009 MacBook Pro, so you may have some problems with the trackpad and function keys

  • I can't install Snow Leopard on a brand new hard drive with a brand new optical drive.

I need help please. I have a 2009 MacBook Pro. The hard drive crashed a while back so I bought a new one. The original Snow Leopard disc that came with it was scratched so I bought a new one of it as well. After trying/failing to install Snow Leopard on the new hard drive about a dozen times I bought a new optical drive as well. I installed the new optical drive today, tried to install Snow Leopard again and STILL got the same installation error messages. Any help that anyone might be able to provide would be greatly appreciated.
    Last error message:
Install failed: The Installer could not copy the necessary support files.

Did you partition and format the new drive first?
    Drive Partition and Format
    1. Boot from your OS X Installer Disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button.  When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
    2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area.  If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing.  SMART info will not be reported  on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Apply button and wait until the process has completed.
    4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
    5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Security button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
    6. Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to several hours depending upon the drive size.
    7. Upon completion quit Disk Utility and return to the installer. Complete the Snow Leopard installation.

  • How do I install and BOOT Windows 7 on External Hard Drive?

Please please please help! I've been browsing the net for 2 days straight and can't find a decent answer.
I've partitioned my external hard drive (Western Digital Passport) using Disk Utility.
I have 4 paritions in total; 2 intended for Mac and 2 intended for Windows.
I used a GUID partition table for all 4 as displayed on the below picture.
Although I should note that when my external hard disk is booted in Windows it says that it uses Master Boot Record, please see picture 2 below.
I formatted the Mac Partitions to Mac OS Extended (Journaled) and the Windows Partitions to ExFat.
The Macs work beautifully; having successfully installed and booted Snow Leopard on them, and then backed up my 2 internal Mac Drives to them.
However, the Windows ones are a complete nightmare and I have no idea how to installl Windows 7 and then use them from there.
Can anyone offer a solution? I've heard so many conflicting ideas about this that it's made me dizzy just reading it all.
    Thanks!

Yeah, I use Windows on bootcamp for both my Imac and my Macbook Pro.
In fact, seeing as my Mac partition on my external hard drive was successful i.e. I installed and can boot from them any time I like, couldn't I just use the external hard drive's partitions' bootcamp assistant and install/boot windows on there?
