Can I install and use your Adobe products on a secondary hard drive?

Hello, I have my OS and program files installed on a 128gb SSD and I have a 1TB HDD secondary. I want to avoid filling up that SSD as much as possible. Is there an option when installing your Adobe products  (which ones?) to install and use them in a drive and folder on the secondary drive?

Simply choose a custom install and pick an alternate location in a folder on your secondary drive. just be aware that some components like the activation system and otehr shared stuff will always be installed on C:\, no matter what. You are stil lgoing to lose at least 1GB on your SSD drive.

My daughter has a laptop and pc.  Can she install and use one license of CS6 on both machines?

Yes. You can download, install & activate on up to two of your personal computers (e.g. a laptop and a desktop) as long as they are running the same operating system (e.g. both Macintosh or both Windows. Creative Suite licenses are platform specific.). You can find more details within the End User License Agreement at: http://www.adobe.com/products/eulas/#desktop

I installed all creative suite /cloud products on my main hard drive which has just failed. I can't open the apps on that drive. How can I deauthorize them when the drive is damaged beyond repair and unresponsive?

Kay5000 you are posting in a pubic forum.
As Ankit stated please try installing and activating Creative Cloud on your replacement computer/hard drive.  If you have reached your maximum activation count then you will be prompted to deactivate all your activations.  This will then allow you to activate on the replacement computer/hard drive.
For Creative Suite 6 I would recommend that you try installing as well.  If you receive a message that you have exceeded your amount of allowable activations then please contact our support team directly.  Our support team will be able to increase your activation count and allow you to install on the replacement computer/hard drive.  You can contact our chat support at http://adobe.ly/yxj0t6 to make this request.

i got a macbook pro 2008 and can not back up using time machine. it eject my external hard drive everytime. does anybody has a fix???

Does your external hard drive have it's own power supply?  It should.
Is your external hard drive formatted with the NTFS file system?  It won't work.
It needs to be formatted either with Mac OS Extended or FAT32.
(There are drivers available to add NTFS support to OS X but their quality is unknown, especially the "free" ones.)

you can concurrently install and activate on two computers.
you can save files using adobe's cloud file service (mainly to sync your files) but you should always have local copies saved.

  • How can I install and use my purschased CD of cs6, without renewing my Creative Cloud subscription?

I previously had a CS6 subscription through the cloud but after my year subscription was up, I decided to purchase the CD and install because I didn't like the idea of not being able to access my files without monthly payments. After I uninstalled the programs from my subscription, I installed my purchased disc of CS6 and when I went to open InDesign, an expiration message pops up telling me to renew my subscription? How can I get rid of that message and use my product?

make sure cc desktop app is uninstalled and then run the cleaner, Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6
after your system is cleared of cc apps, open a cs6 app > click help > click activate and use your serial number.

  • Can I install 10.6 Snow Leopard to a New Empty Hard Drive?

    I could use some help.
*I simply want to boot off a 10.6 retail install DVD and install to an empty hard drive on my Mac Pro 8-core (it came with and currently runs 10.5).*
I will be pulling my 10.5 hard drive (for back up), installing a new drive for SL to start over from scratch.
After talking to Apple pre sales, I was told the $29 disk — MC223Z/A — was an "Upgrade" disk and would require an existing 10.5 install on the target hard drive.
The Apple rep also told me if I wanted the "Full Retail version" to install on an empty drive that I would have to buy the boxed version to get the Full Retail install disk.
Confusion at the store caused me to by BOTH the $29 disk MC223Z/A and the boxed version MC209A/A (it contains iLife and iWork which I don't need).
After scratching my head here and searching Apple and Google — I have concluded both MC223Z/A and MC209A/A are Upgrade disks.
I've upgraded many Mac OSes and thought I knew their terminology and between "Upgrade" and "Full Retail" but it is unclear on the retail boxes I purchased and their is no requirement noted for having a previous 10.5 installed.
Can anyone please take a moment explain how the Upgrade installer works (if 10.5 needs to be installed on a HD before the 10.6 installer can run on it)?
Lastly, what Apple part number is the actual Full Retail 10.6 SL Install CD?

the actual SL disks in mac box set and in the upgrade set are EXACTLY the same. you can do it with an upgrade dvd without any issues whatsoever...
Thanks for confirming that, I have my 8-core "OEM" 10.5 disk and a "Full Retail" 10.5 disk.
Has anyone actually tried to install MC223Z/A or MC209A/A to an empty hard drive?
    Does this work?
Definitely yes. I definitely have done it. All three Sno DVDs do exactly the same thing; everything.
Or do I need to have an existing 10.5 install on the target hard drive?
I want to remove my 10.5 HD so their is zero chance SL can modify it.
You do not need to have 10.5 installed. All 3 Sno DVD's will install on a clean drive.
I don't mind spending extra for Full Retail as long as I can confirm the >correct model number...
The two disk you mention both are "full retail." The up-to-date DVD that was mailed to those entitled to Sno because of their new-machine purchase dates is called an upgrade disk. But, as indicated, it will do anything the other two will do.

  • How to install Logic Pro X additional files to a secondary hard drive?

Hi all, I have tried and failed to install additional Logic Pro X data to my second hard drive. The SSD that OS X runs through is almost full and I don't have enough space for the files to stay there.
I have tried to use the 'Symbolic Link' solution, but to no avail as it continues to install the software on my SSD! I can tell, because after installing the files I lose a big chunk of storage on the SSD.
Please help! Is there an alternate solution, am I doing it wrong?

Sorry! I did select Logic Pro... Wonder why that happened.... Thanks

  • Can I install and use any 2.5" SATA hard disk on my Mac Mini (Late 2012)?

I have a Mac Mini (Late 2012) which is currently housing a 500GB SATA hard disk. Unfortunately read errors have been detected and it seems to be slowing down. I want to replace this with another 500GB SATA hard disk and I was wondering whether any notebook (2.5") hard disk would work or whether I have to look for one with specific specs (such as RPM, SATA version, etc).
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Any 2 1/2 inch STA HD will work as long as the height is 9.5 mm or less. All most all meet this requirement except very larger capacity ones
I would opt for a SSD since those are a lot faster than a 2 1/2 HD and now they are very reasonably priced.
You can consider installing a second disk to using:

  • Can we install and use Essbase 9.3.1 without Shared services ?

    Hi All,
we need to have two different database schemas for Shared services and EAS. But we are currently having only one schema, so we started to install and configure with out using Shared services. Finally i have installed and configured EAS, Server and client. While configuring , i left the shared services part as we don't have another schema to use for that.
When i logged into the Essbase environment, i tried to add a server, it was done. now when i tried to create an application under that sever.under the create option "application" is in disable state and rest are enabled.
I am not getting where i went wrong.IS that the reason,i have not installed and configured Shared services
Can anyone please let me know the reason to which i am failing to create a new application under the newly added server.
    Regards

    Hi,
    1. You need not install and configure shared services , if you intend to work only on essbase.
    2. In version 9, if you had installed essbase server, and have essbase admin server along with essbase administration sevices ( i.e EAS) , you are good to work on essbase.
    3. No need of shared serives, and even no need of any schema to configure, if you dont want to use shared services for managing users.
    4. The reason for failure? Pls send logs that would help

I went to upload Yosemite but didnt have enough space on my hardrive. Now when I turn on my computer it tries to install - gets to about 15 minutes and then stops and says theres a problem extracting files from essential.
There isnt enough room on my hardrive to install Yosemite. I now cannot use my macbook. I cannot access any of my files, documents, apps, itunes ect. I dont know how to free up space on the hardrive when I cannot access anything.
tried to boot in safe mode but it will not let me. Stuck and unable to use computer. HELP!

Install Mavericks, Lion/Mountain Lion Using Internet Recovery
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
Boot to the Internet Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND-OPTION- R keys until a globe appears on the screen. Wait patiently - 15-20 minutes - until the Recovery main menu appears.
Partition and Format the hard drive:
Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
After DU loads select your newly installed hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed. Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion. Mavericks: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks and click on the Install button. Be sure to select the correct drive to use if you have more than one.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.
This should restore the version of OS X originally pre-installed on the computer.

  • Install and run app from App Store on external hard drive?

I just made the switch from a MBP to an Air, and am figuring out how to best utilize an external hard drive (1 TB) to save space on my internal drive (128 GB).
I am not sure how the performance will be, but I would like to at least try out running Bioshock Infinite (39 GB, purchased through the App Store) from the external drive.  My biggest hurdle right now is figuring out how to properly install the app on my external drive.  Here's what I've tried so far:
    1. When I try to install it from the App Store, there's no way to choose where it is installed, and because I don't have much space left on my internal drive, I of course get the error that there is not enough disk space available to install.
    2. When I copy the app from my old MBP to my external drive, and then try to run it on my Air, I get an error that the file is corrupt, and am told to reinstall it.
What can I do to be able to play Bioshock Infinite on my Air without it taking up nearly a third of my internal drive space?  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the Apple Discussion Forums!
I will have to think about your problem for now. But an easier way to copy your CD's to your computer is:
On iTunes, open up preferences then click on the "Advanced" tab. You will then see "iTunes Music folder location. And you will see where your music is being saved on your computer. There are two boxes to the right that say "Change..." "Reset". Click on the "Change..." button and select your folder on your MyBook. iTunes will now import the music from your CD's into that folder AND this is where all of your music will need to be if you want to play it on your computer. What this is doing is pulling the music from the folder that you selected other than the folder on your computer.

  • I have a 1 TB hard drive on my Mac and I bought a 1 TB LaCie secondary hard drive. My Mac has lots of capacity left yet my LaCie backup is full and can't back up. I looked and it had backups of years past on it.

It seems that I must have the wrong settings in place but after going through my preferences, I could not find anything that gets rid of older backups. Its as if it is keeping every backup it ever made.

Thanks, I guess I always thought that Time Capsule did everything automatically and seamlessly.
Time Machine (the backup software) does, if it can, but that depends on the circumstances:
(A Time Capsule is a piece of Apple hardware combining a wireless router and hard drive.)
Effective with Snow Leopard (10.6), there's an option on the Time Machine Preferences > Options window to Notify after old backups are deleted.  If that's checked, you might see this message when the disk is nearly full (we don't know just how close it has to be):
Once it is out of room and Time Machine has to delete old backups, it will send this message (after the deletions and new backup are done):
If you don't want to see that anymore, either check the Do not show... box or the Warn after ... box in TM Preferences.  If you don't mind seeing it, just click OK.
If your backups fail with this one, the disk really is full, and TM can't delete enough backups to make room (it won't ever delete the last remaining one, though):
However, if you're on Leopard (10.5), the option is Warn when old backups are deleted and instead of deleting any backups, it sends this one:
Badly worded;  all you have to do is remove the check from the box in TM Prefs > Options; then it will delete old backups as needed.
