Can I install Aperture 3 on iMac with no disc drive

Is it possible to install Aperture 3 on iMac using product serial number (my PC has no disc drive)?

There is no longer a way to download a full version of Aperture from Apple's sites, other than the most recent version from the App Store. If you still have the installer disks, try to borrow an external DVD reader or ask a family member/fried with a computer that still has a DVD drive to create a disk image from the DVD. Then copy the Disk Image to a thumbs drive. If a Mac with a DVD drive is available on your local network, you could try DVD sharing.

  • How do I download/install Photoshop & Premiere Elements 10 on new iMac with no disc drive?

My iMac hard drive recently failed and I lost everything. I just bought one of the new iMacs with no disc drive.  I had purchased Photoshop CS5 in 2011 but it came with CD's for install.  I stil have them but it doesn't do me any good since there is no disc drive to put them in on the new computer. How can I install Photoshop using my serial number from my original purchase?  I downloaded the CS6 trial version and when I try to activate it with my old serial number it says it is invalid.

There are links to trial installers on pages:
    http://prodesigntools.com/all-adobe-cs5-direct-download-links.html
    http://prodesigntools.com/photoshop-elements-10-direct-download-links-pse-premiere-pre.htm l
Very carefully read and follow the instructions on the pages!
Download and install the trials, launch and activate them with your serial number then do 'Help > Updates'.

  • How can I install cs3 on new iMac with no disc drive?

I purchased cs3 and have all the original discs and serial number but can't use them so easily with the new macs... I have read the other discussions and tried the links to download the cs3 trial and then imput my serial number.
    http://prodesigntools.com/download-adobe-cs4-and-cs3-free-trials-here.html
the links that are on this page give me http error: 404 message
Is it just me? Do these links no longer work? Does anyone have anyother ideads on how to get around this?
I'm not completely ignorant about computers- ignorant enough for this to be a very frustrating Saturday morning though... and the Adobe  chat is of no help which only make me want to punch an install disc even more.
    any help is appreciated
    Thanks!

I was signed in with download assistant, no just in at adobe.com... I've tried different perferences and settings but when I click on the links nothing seems to happen. I've been messing around with this for a few hours now and it dawned on me that it may have something to do with my internet. I live outside the city- totally nice for gardening, totally terriable for internet thus I have a verizon data plan and not unlimited internet, I think possibly verizon is shutting it down because of restrictions I have on my data. This type of thing also happened when I upgraded to Mavericks. The file itself was larger than my month's data so it seemed like it wouldn't initiate the download... I don't know for sure if it is the same problem here but if you're telling me that you are having more successful results than I am that might be the reason.
I'll take my computer to work or to my mom's house or somewhere where I can have unlimited access and see if I have any better success.
Thanks so much for all your help!

  • Install Windows on iMac with no DVD drive

I have a modified iMac.  It has a solid state drive in leui of the superdrive.   The SSD is a OWC drive.
How can I install Windows?   I have tried modifying plist files, and kexts to allow me to use my MBA's USB superdrive, with no luck.    I have also modified the bootcamp assistant to allow me to create a Windows 7 USB Installer from an ISO.   However, when I initiate the installation, the computer restarts, and I get an error "No bootable device -- insert boot disc and press any key"  I get this even though I created an installer with the BC assistant.  I've tried doing this with thumb drives and external USB drives.
Can anybody help me out with a method of getting Windows installed?  My computer is a 27" 2011 iMac.  I cannot put the DVD drive back in because not only was it broken, but also because I then wouldn't be able to install Windows on the SSD.
    Thanks.

You might have better li=uck of an answer if you post over in the Boot Camp forum where the Windows gurus hang out.

  • Installing photoshop elements on imac with no disc drive

I purchased Adobe Photoshop elements 9 a year or so ago.  I still have the installation disc and all the packaging that came with it.  Unfortunately my imac crashed and I had to purchase a new imac.  I would like to install this program on my new computer but there is no disc drive on it.  Also there are no instructions included that direct installation without using the disc.  How can I get this installed on my imac so that I can use it again?

You can download the trial version of the software from the page linked below and then use your current serial number to activate it.
Be sure to follow the steps outlined in the Note: Very Important Instructions section on the download pages at this site or else the download will not work properly.

  • Installing final cut express with  a disc drive

I have 2 copies of final cut express 4, however my laptop was stolen. I know have a new laptop but it is a mac book pro without a disc drive. How do install my copy of final cut express? I don't want to (and can't afford) to buy it again when I already own 2 copies and all the used software coupons.
Can I download it? where and how?

Get an external DVD drive. Apple sells one:
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MD564ZM/A/apple-usb-superdrive?fnode=5f
You can probably find something cheaper, if you look around.

  • Can you install leopard from an external usb disc drive?

I don't know if the disc drive is fast enough for leopard or something. It's taking forever to open the installer, and when I restarted into the installer it just booted back to my desktop. I have an external disc drive I want to try. Can you install leopard from and external disc drive?

****, I just tried it and when I restarted it didn't go into the installer. I think my disc drive in my old mac mini might be too slow. It takes forever to recognize the disc and just to double click on it and it up. And when I tried to install it the first time from the internal drive it just booted right into my desktop again.

  • Installing Vista on iMac with 2 Discs?

I have Windows Vista Ultimate, and it came on two discs. I was going through the installation process when it told me to insert the second disc. I tried pressing the eject key on my keyboard, but the disc remained in the iMac. I then tried to put the second disc in my external drive, but that didn't work either. I also tried booting disc from the external drive, and putting the second disc in the iMac, but it didn't work.
So how can I complete the installation if I can't get the first CD out to put in the second one?

hmmm....well I've only used the external drive method installing my copy of XP (which is upgrade-only) so in order to get around that limitation of not being able to eject disc while drivers aren't loaded, I was able to use this successfully.
That's a real bummer! You can't access another Vista disc can you and install with your key from it?

  • Can I install Aperture on an Iomega hard drive attached to my IMac and use it from there with iPhoto pix on the IMaac

Can  I install Aperture on an external Ilmega hard drive attached to my IMac and run Aperture from there to use it with photos on my IMac iPhoto library?

It's usually best to have applications on the boot drive, so I'd turn your idea around: run Aperture from the internal disk and park iPhoto and maybe iTunes libraries on an external - which would free up space on the internal.

  • TS1600 I received a 2008 Imac with erased hard drive.  I have the two discs to install OS X but when it tries to boot just  comes up Mac OS X cannot be installed on this computer. Is there anything I can do to get this running

I rceived a 2008 Imac with erased hard drive.  They gave me the two install discs but it keeps coming up cannot install OS X on this computer.
Is there anything to do. Thanks hopefully

Well, Apple would probably point out that what you are trying to do violates the EULA.
Technically speaking, however, the issue is that the install/restore DVDs that ship with Macs do not carry all the drivers, or even all of the various versions of libraries that support all of the various models of Macs. The come-with-your-Mac disks are different than the retail versions of the OS (also, the come-with-your-Mac ones bundle iLife, which the retail ones don't).
Because the come-with-your-Mac disk contains only the drivers specific to that generation and model line of Mac, it contains a stub of code that verifies that your hardware matches the driver set on the install/restore DVD.
Your friend has a different model of Mac, with different hardware, so her install/restore disk won't work in yours. Solution: go get the retail boxed version of Leopard.

  • Can I install snow leopard on an external hard drive so I can run quicken 2006, and put snow leopard on my imac harddrive

Can I install snow leopard on an external hard drive in order to run my quicken 2006, and install lion on the hard drive of my imac?

You don't need to erase the drive and repartition from scratch. You may be able to add a second partition on the fly. The caveat here is that once you do that you cannot create a Windows partition using Boot Camp. Of course if you have no plans for Boot Camp then it isn't relevant.
To create a second partition on your existing startup volume:
To resize the drive do the following:
    1. Open Disk Utility and select the drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list.
    2. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window. You should see the graphical sizing window showing the existing partitions. A portion may appear as a blue rectangle representing the used space on a partition.
    3. In the lower right corner of the sizing rectangle for each partition is a resizing gadget. Select it with the mouse and move the bottom of the rectangle upwards until you have reduced the existing partition enough to create the desired new volume's size. The space below the resized partition will appear gray. Click on the Apply button and wait until the process has completed.  (Note: You can only make a partition smaller in order to create new free space.)
    4. Click on the [+] button below the sizing window to add a new partition in the gray space you freed up. Give the new volume a name, if you wish, then click on the Apply button. Wait until the process has completed.
You should now have a new volume on the drive.
It would be wise to have a backup of your current system as resizing is not necessarily free of risk for data loss.  Your drive must have sufficient contiguous free space for this process to work.
Now, you cannot add a new partition that exceeds the amount of contiguous free space at the end of the drive. Disk Utility will fail to add the partition if it cannot find sufficient contiguous free space. If that's the case then you will need to follow your state outline - backup, boot from clone, erase internal, repartition internal, restore backup to one of the partitions (or both in your case.)

  • I installed Elements 9 on my MacBook . How do I reinstall on on an iMac (with no CD drive) ?

I installed Elements 9 on my MacBook . I have a multi license How do I reinstall on on an iMac (with no CD drive) ?

Jonahood if you bought a new Mac without an optical drive then you can copy the installation files onto a USB drive on a computer which does have an optical drive.  You can then install on your new iMac from the USB drive.
Alternately you can download Photoshop Elements 9 by following the directions listed at http://prodesigntools.com/photoshop-elements-9-premiere-elements-9-direct-download-links.h tml.  Please make sure to complete the Very Important Instructions prior to scrolling down the page and clicking on the download link.
