Can I install BDK on Win 2000

Hey, I tried to install BDK1.1 on Win 2000 but I encountered plenty of problems
1. Cannot find JVM during installation
sol: I select java.exe from jdk directory manually
2. after install, cannot makeApplet, always give the IO exception when I try to makeApplet from BeanBox. Anyone knows the reasons
Thanks

Hi,
I like to elaborate my problems further. pls advise
I try to install DBK1.1 and i encountered some problems.
1. During installation, JVM cannot be located and I manually choose
java.exe at c:\jdk1.3.1_02\bin\java.exe
2. after installation, i execute Beanbox and problems arise
when I select makeApplet.
makeApplet process is not sucessfully and I receive the following error message.
a. error dialog box
"java.io.IOException: compilation failed!
while generating data for MyApplet"
b. DOS error message
"WARNING: Could not Runtime.exec<String> "javac" in the standard way: java.io.IOException: CreateProcess: javac -classpath tmp\myApplet\myApplet_files;classes;.;..\lib\methodtracer.jar:..\infobus.jar -nowarn tmp\myApplet_files\MyApplet.java error=2
Check that the version of "javac" that you are running is the one supplied with Sun's JDK1.x <which includes the compiler classes> and not some other version of "java" or JRE shipped with some other product."
How do I solve the above problems?

  • Can't install QuickTime on Win 2000 PC

I've tried 3 times to complete the installation of Apple's QuickTime Player and iTunes on a Windows 2000 Pro SP4 PC. (They're bundled together in the download.) It started easily enough with the InstallShield Wizard starting up. It proceeded through designating the destination folder. Next a Window popped up saying "Please wait while Windows configures iTunes." Twenty minutes later that message was still there. That's when I gave up and clicked on Cancel. (Should I have waited longer?). Next an iTunes windows popped up saying "Cancelling. It stayed and stayed. I had to resort to Task Manager to get rid of it, which wasn't without some hitches.
I downloaded this package a second time and tried again with the same results.
I have no idea what is happening or why. Is the culprit Windows, iTunes, Apple, me or some combination of two or three?
I have installed and upgraded this software on a Windows XP Home Edition PC with no difficulty. I'd like to run QuickTime Player on this Win 2K machine. Does anyone have any idea of what to do next?
BTW I downloaded Quicktime 7 and tried to install it. I was told that QT 7 already was installed. I found a QuickTime folder in Program Files, but nothing was in it. I got a message saying that QT wasn't properly installed. I deleted the folder and tried again only to get the same message. Maybe there's something in the Registry or somewhere else. As long as it's there, I'm not going to be able to install QT 7, or so I figure. ???

I really don't know why it wouldn't show up under Add/Remove programs. When I had a similar problem, I had to remove/reboot/reinstall, but you don't even have the option to remove!! And you can't reinstall because there's already something there... have you tried doing a search for quicktime on your HD and deleting everything you found?

Can we install JDeveloper (Window NT/2000) on Windows 98?
If not, is there a version available for Windows 98?
    Thanks

Yes, you can. Just insert the linux CD in the CD-ROM drive and when asked about the internal hard disk, be careful not to touch it. Also you should use GRUB or LILO to make the system dual bootable. You can go to http://www.tldp.org and look for the corresponding document.

  • IWS Install Failed on Win 2000

Hello - we are still trying to recover our install of iWS on Win 2000. The
uninstall.exe hangs. Attemtps to reinstall hang. When we try to start the
iWS services in service manager they also hang.
We are installing from the Forte for Java partnership CD. This is iWS 6.0
    Enterprise.
Please advise of the sequence of steps to erase all trace of the previous
installs (file directories, registry entries and anything else related) so
that we may reinstall iWS with a clean slate.

    Hi,
Please ensure the following before you install.
    - Have a fully qualified domainname which is mandatory. But for testing
purpose you can have DHCP running usually not recomended for production
    environment.
    - Installation platform for iWS 6.0 is Windows 2000 Server or Advanced
    server recomended.
    - If uninstallation hangs remove the entries from the services and remove
the associated folders and then go for reninstalling iWS 6.0
    - If the problem still persists, the only way to get rid is to clean the
registry of Windows and make a reinstallation.

    Hi.
Strange. The fact that you can't run as an Windows service tells me something may be
wrong with your os. Is it possible to try a different windows machine? This is not a

  • Can I install full retail Win 8 Pro on a Lenovo R500 with a Win 7 Pro preload?

Lenovo does not support Windows 8 on the R500. Can someone please tell me why.
When Windows 8 became available, I ran out and purchased a copy to install on my R500, foolishly thinking that Lenovo would support the upgrade on its older machines as it had previously, whenever a new release of Windows had become available in the past.
I was quite surprised to not find that my R500 was not supported.
So, will Windows 8 install, or will the installation fail? What functions would give me problems? Obviously, the touch screen functions won’t work, but can I attach an external touch screen?
Is the problem a hardware deficiency or is it a software deficiency?
So, do I have a useless Win 8 software box? I hope someone out there has an explanation.

    Hi Chuck,
R500 is a pretty old model and i guess Lenovo like other manufacturers cannot support all the old models for every new Windows version. So they have to draw a line somewhere and the R500 is too old.
Windows 8 should install fine, but you might find that there are some drivers which is not available for your computer. You might find that some features do not work because of missing drivers and software for Windows 8.
I never had a R500 and usually upgrade my computer every year so i cannot say for sure what might not be working. Some of the drivers might be available from other manufacturers like Intel.
I'm sure your Windows 8 won't be useless as you will probably buy a new computer in the close future since the R500 is pretty old. At least Windows 8 is pretty cheap compared to earlier upgrades from Microsoft. The Windows 8 compatibility list from Lenovo been available for pretty long and the R500 never been listed.

  • Error 432 when Installing JRE on Win 2000.....

    Hi,
I've installed JDK V1.3.1 successfully on a Win 2K box, however when I try it on my colleagues machines I get
    a bizarre error
ISSET_SE caused and Illegal Instruction in module <unknown> 16A7:00FC.....ISSET_SE will close
    I then get
Setup has detected that unInstallShield is in use. Please close ....
    Error 432.
We are all running MS Windows 2000 5.00.2195
Any ideas how to get around this?
    Thanks.
    Gary Revell.

I just ran into the same problem. What clue'd me into the solution was the second window about "uninstall shield".
I solved the problem by logging on to the machine as Administrator (or an account with equivilant privilages). I believe this is just a bug in the installer in that it doesn't recognize what privileges it needs to install, so it gives you that cryptic error message.

  • Officejet Pro 8620, Can't Install Software on Win 7 64-bit

Every time I try to install the HP software, it goes through Step 1 of 6, then fails. I get the following error message:
I have tried installing from the disc as well as the downloaded version of the software from hp.com.  I seem to be able to install the printer using whatever generic drivers Windows has, but I would like to be able to get all the productivity I paid for using the software suite.  Any ideas?

    Hello @blueyedsoul,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums! I see you are running into problems installing your HP Officejet 8620 onto your computer running the Windows 7 64bit. When you attempt to install it goes through to step 6 and fails and you get an error message '2147467259'.
To resolve the installation issue, you will need to download the newest version of your HP product software, begin software installation, and then download and install a software patch to complete the installation.
    Step one: Download the software
Follow these steps to download the newest version of your HP product software.
1.Disconnect the USB cable from both the product and the computer (if you already connected it).
    2.Turn the product on.
3.Browse to the  Get Software and Drivers page: Get Software and Drivers
4.Check the instructions on the page, and then click the Plus sign (+) next to the correct heading for additional instructions:
If prompted to enter your product in the window.
1.Type your product number in the window.
2.Click Next. If necessary click your model in a list of similar products.
    3.Click Software and Driver Downloads.
4.Click the drop-down arrow, and then click your operating system.
    5.Continue to the next step.
If prompted to select your operating system.
1.Click the drop-down arrow, and then click your operating system.
2.Click Next. If necessary click your model in a list of similar products.
    3.Continue to the next step.
4.Click the Plus sign next to Driver, and then click the driver that you want to download.
5.Click More Info, and then read through the minimum system requirements and additional instructions. You can also click View directions for complete download instructions.
6.Click Download. This option allows you to install the software at any time after the download completes.
7.Click Save, and then browse to the location on your computer where you want to save the file.
8.Click Save. The software downloads to your computer.
Hint: Make a note of the place that you saved the file, in case you want to install it at a later time.
    Step two: Install the software
1.When the download is complete and you are ready to install the files, click Open Folder, and then click the downloaded file. The file name ends in .exe.
NOTE:If you closed the Download Complete screen, browse to the folder where you saved the .exe file, and then click it.
2.You can accept the default place to save the files. Click Next, and then wait while the installer extracts the files to prepare for installation.
3.When the Install Wizard starts, follow the on-screen instructions to install the software.
You will encounter the installation failure again, but this is expected.  If there is a Microsoft dialog box named The HP Installer has stopped working, click Close the program.
Step three: Download and install a software patch
Follow these steps to download and install an HP software patch.
NOTE:The software patch is supported in Microsoft Windows Windows 7 (32- and 64-bit) operating systems.
1.Click here to download the software patch.. A File Download window opens.
2.Choose one of the following options to download the patch to the computer.
3.If you want to install the patch on the computer immediately,  click Run.
4.If you want to install the patch at a later time, click Save, select a destination on the computer for the file to save,  and then click Save. When the download is complete, click the downloaded file.
5.An HP AMD Processor Patch dialog box displays with the option to change the default path to extract the files.
The default path is the folder to the HP product software package you tried to install. For example, C:\Usersl\manu\AppData\Local\Temp\7zS29EF.
If the path shown is not the one that you expected, or if you want a different location for the installation files than the default location, uncheck Default Path, and then click the Browse button. Highlight the newest folder, and then click OK to continue.
6.After the patch has completed, the HP product software will start installing again.
7.When the Windows Security dialog box opens, with the message: Windows can't verify the publisher of this driver software, click Install this driver software anyway.
8.Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
Please complete the steps listed above, are you now able to install the software?
I hope to hear from you soon.

  • Can't install itunes on Win 8 x 64

    Ok,
Point 1) I downloaded itunes 11.1.0.126 - I do an install and all goes well until it rolls back and tells me there is an error.
Point 2) I read the FAQ's which say remove previously installed Apple software. I do that. Same problem.
Point 3) I do it all again, and remove Quicktime, and edit the registry to remove all references to the program, and other Apple programs.
Point 4) I install again. Same problem.
Point 5) I now try to re-install Quicktime Pro (my version is 7.74,bought and paid for!). It won't install either.
    So, what is going on?
I am running Win 8 x 64bit. Before the update everything was working well. I tried to re-install the earlier version of itunes thinking that if there was an issue with the new version I could use the older version. No, it won't install either - same issue.
Any advice or assistance would be greatly appreciated as Apple Support don't seem to be interested.
    Thanks

No longer an issue since I upgraded to Windows 7.

  • Can't install itunes on win 7 64bit, weird error! please help

    Hey
When trying to upgrade itunes, i uninstalled the old version and tried install the new.
    I get this error:
    Any ideas why?
    Thanks
    Eyal

Good lord ... a bit of an alphanumeric soup there ...
It's not clear initially which is the fundamental error here. But based on the fact that the 8007371b can be fixed by the System Update Readiness Tool, we might try a manual install of that first. There's information on how to do that in the *Information for Advanced Users* section of the following document.
[Description of the System Update Readiness Tool for Windows Vista, for Windows Server 2008, for Windows 7, and for Windows Server 2008 R2|http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947821]
Installing the tool will run the tool.
After the installation of the tool, restart the PC. Then go back to Windows Update, and attempt to stock up again on Windows Updates. Do they download and install correctly? If so, because you might be a reasonable way behind on updates, keep going back to Windows update until it stops offering you new updates.
Once you're stocked up again, restart the PC again, and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

</DATABASE> Is something wrong with my operating system and what chould I do to fix it?

What is wrong with your system is that you have an old CPU (AMD Sempron 2500+, 1.75GHz) without support for SSE2 instruction set. Skype 7.6/7.7 version will crash on such a system, but Skype 7.5 may work. http://community.skype.com/t5/Windows-desktop-client/Cannot-install-Skype/m-p/4039905#M355091

  • Can't install iTunes on Win Vista machine

When I click on the "Download 7.2" button it takes me to a screen that says "Thanks for installing 7.2" blah, blah, blah. The problem is that no installation occurred. I don't get any error messages, nothing. Just no download.
I had an old version of iTunes (that after much consternation) I was able to uninstall, but now I'm stumped.
    Any ideas?

  • Can't install ODAC on Win 7 64 bit

Getting a Java(TM) 2 Platform Standard Edition binary has stopped working - a problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.
    Can anyone help ???

I do not believe any Oracle software (other than SQL Developer) has been certified to work on Win7 yet - so things may or may not work. You can either wait for certification or use a supported OS.
