Can I install iphoto 6 if I have '08 already installed?

Ive just upgraded to '08 but I need the option to print without dust jackets - like in iphoto 6.
So can I use my install disks to install iphoto 6? Will that work running 2 versions of it? With 2 different library's?
Thanks
Mark

FWIW I found the dust jacket to be a big improvement as I could add information about the book and author just like commercial books. All of the recipients of the newer design were very pleased with it. But then, different strokes for different folks.

how can i get iphoto on my IPAD if i already have it on my macbook pro?

See this page, if your iPad qualifies for a free download: Free Apple apps for iOS 7 compatible devices
iPhoto on the iPad and iPhoto on the Mac are completely different programs. The Mac version cannot run on the iPad, because the operating systems and the processors are different. Don't expect, that iPhoto on the iPad will be able to do the same things as your iPhoto for Mac, pr that you can keep the two iPhoto libraries in sync.
Se this help page for a description, what iPhoto on the iPad can do: http://help.apple.com/iphoto/ipad/2.0/

  • HT5037 I have just installed version 10.8.3 to our imac and now I can't open iPhoto.  Does anyone have any suggestions?  I tried to upgrade it but it dosen't work

    Hello
We recently installed version 10.8.3 to our 2 year old mac and now we could'nt open iphoto, it told us to install library upgrader, so we did and it still won't work.  any suggestions.?
    thank you in advance

it told us to install library upgrader, so we did and it still won't work.
And have you run the iPhoto Library Upgrader after you installed it? First run it, to prepare your iPhotLibrary for upgrading, and then launch iPhoto again to complete the upgrade of your library.

  • Can't download iPhoto 9. Says it's already installed.

In the App store, under Purchases, I have iPhoto and it says I can install it. When I click install,  the message states"iPhoto is already installed on this computer...."
What I have is iphoto 9 and I want to upgrade to iphoto 11 to get the streaming .
What can I do to make the App store install iphoto 11?

Here's the workaround that worked for me.
    1. Created a new temporary user account.
    2. Logged in to account and opened the MAS.
    3. Entered Apple ID and password
    4. Went to purchases and saw that iPhoto was available for INSTALL
    5. Clicked install. Iphoto began downloading.
The app goes into the Applications Folder
    7. Logged off
    8. Logged back into my normal user account
Went to Application folder and doubled clicked on the iPhoto app (It replaced the old iphoto 8 app)
Made sure everything was working, upgraded library, photostream on, etc,
    9. Deleted temporary account.
That's the workaround, but the solution to what's causing MAS to think I've already downloaded iphoto 9 still remains.

  • Can i delete iPhoto app now i have photos?

Now I have 10.10.3 and photos can I delete the iPhoto app?

From what I've read elsewhere, I wouldn't delete iPhoto just yet. Apple seems to be doing its 'iMovie / Pages' thing again, where it rewrites from the ground up, but the new app is a long way from what went before. As long as you have iPhoto 9.6.1, you can run both in 10.3.

  • Can't open iphoto after using My Publisher

I recently made a book on My Publisher.  Now I can not open iphoto since it says it is already in use.  It seems as if all my pictures have been captured by My Publisher.  What can I do.

Is the full error message "your photo library is in use by another program or has become unreadable"? Then maybe the second part of the error message is the problem.  Make a backup of your iPhoto library and rebuild it.
See this post by Old Toad on how to rebuild the iPhoto library in iPhoto '11:

  • I've just installed Maverick and now can't open iPhoto. I have 9.2.1 currently installed. Am terrified I'm going to lose photos as they weren't all backed up. What do I do? Please help...

I've just installed Maverick and now can't open iphoto. I have 9.2.1 currently installed. Please help - am terrified I've lost my photos as they weren't all backed up.

    Pogs78,
first things first — buy an external drive to use as a Time Machine backup destination and make a back up. That way, you won’t lose anything which is currently on your MacBook Pro.

  • I have bought a 2nd hand late 2008 macbook air and can't install iPhoto as it requires update 10.9 or higher i can't seem to update any further than 10.7.5 help???

I have bought a 2nd hand late 2008 macbook air and can't install iPhoto as it says it requires update 10.9 or higher i can't seem to update any further than 10.7.5 can anyone help please???

Thankyou for your response... being new to this i have had a look and it says the following
This system can run the last version of OS X 10.8 "Mountain Lion" as well as the current version of OS X 10.9 "Mavericks," but does not support the AirDrop, AirPlay Mirroring, or Power Nap features. It is not supported booting into 64-bit mode when running Mac OS X 10.6 "Snow Leopard." It does support "OpenCL" and Grand Central Dispatch introduced with Mac OS X 10.6 "Snow Leopard."
Please note that OS X "Lion" 10.7 and subsequent versions of OS X, like Mountain Lion and Mavericks, are not capable of running Mac OS X apps originally written for the PowerPC processor as these operating systems do not support the "Rosetta" environment. To run PowerPC applications on this Mac, it will be necessary to use Mac OS X 10.6 "Snow Leopard" or earlier
    what do i do next
Thankyou once again for your reply

Thanks, it worked first time that  I double clicked as you suggested.
Why do Apple make it so hard to upgrade some programs?  They could make the follow through instructions a lot clearer.
Now I have it open-  it works and.....................  it does look pretty neat.

You could by why would you?
You paid for it, the application doesn;t really take up much space and there may come a time when you want it or need it.

  • Can't install iPhoto 11, currently have iPhoto 08

I am currently using iPhoto '08 version 7.1.5. I have tried to purchase the latest version of iPhoto from app store, but it won't let me. I have tried to uninstall current version but I can't do this either. I have tried to download updates from apple website, but my mac tells me these are now considered as unauthorised developers!! Help!! How do I get the latest version of iPhoto??

This screenshot shows which previous versions of iPhoto are compatible with Mavericks.  It also indicates which versions qualify for a free upgrade to iPhoto 9.5.1 and which require a purchase:
Note 1:  every day more users are reporting problems with iPhoto 8.1.2 so I've included it in the non compatible category.
Note 2:  If your previous version of iPhoto was iPhoto 7 (08) or earlier you'll need to download and run the iPhoto Library Upgrader 1.1 application on the library before opening it with iPhoto 9.5.1

  • How can I install iPhoto on a 10.6.8 Macbook?

    Hello all-
I had a quick question regarding the newest version of iPhoto '11.  Quite a while ago, I had to replace the hard drive of my (very old) Macbook Pro, and during this process I installed 10.6.8 on the new SSD.  Everything works perfectly, but I did lose my iLife install when the process was finished (I used the upgrade version of 10.6.8 as opposed to the full version, forgetting that the new drive wouldn't have my previous 10.4 install on it).
Anyway, I'm looking to buy iPhoto '11, but the requirements on the App Store claim that it can only be used with 10.7.4 or later.  I can't find an older version of iPhoto that I can buy, so my question is-
Can I use iPhoto '11 with a 10.6.8 Mac?  Has anyone successfully installed (not upgraded) iPhoto '11 on a 10.6.8 Mac?  If it won't work, how do I find/buy an older version of iPhoto which will work with my computer?
    Thanks for your help!

I contacted App Store support, but it doesn't look like they'll be able to help me- apparently you can't buy the CD version.  I did find this on Amazon, however- I believe it's what you're talking about.
However, I'm not sure if this version will even run on my Mac- any idea on whether it'll work or not?
Additionally, I found my old 10.4 discs that came with the computer when it was new- I'll try to get iPhoto installed off the bundled software installer and see if I can upgrade it from there.

Do you have access to another Mac with a disk drive?  If so you can do it in one of two ways:
1 - on the Mac with the optical drive launch Disk Utility and make a disk image of the iLife 11 disk. Connect the two Macs together and transfer the disk image to your MacBook Air.  Mount the disk image and install from it.  I have my iLife disks saved that way for quick and easy reinstall when necessary.
2 - connect the two Mac together so you can access the MBA from the Mac with the disk drive. Insert the iLife disk, and install from the second Mac to the MBA.

Hard drive packed up, but had Time Machine backup. I installed new ssd and upgraded to Mountain Lion, but I can't find iPhoto library and photos or iTunes songs? Is there an answer to this?  A backup run did not install either photos or songs. Graham

Thanks so much but none of that helped.  It was driving me crazy because it would back up another external drive.  I just changed the name of the drive from iPhoto/iTunes Library to Media Libraries and IT WORKED!! I guess for some reason it didn't like the drive being called iPhoto or iTunes ???? I don't understand but I have tried so many solutions and exchanging things out but the name change did it????!!!
Thank you for your help and replying to this.  Guess I made my own issue!
