Can I install LiveCycle PDF Generator ES on Win XP 64bit?

Has anyone installed LiveCycle PDF Generator ES on a Windows XP 64 bit box and is there any problems doing so?

Lars, I cannot use Vista 64bit as my software maunfacturer warns AGAINST this. vista 64 is fraught with issues that make it unusable for my purposes. And FYI I have managed to install XP 64bit and most of the drivers are on the manufacturers websites and installed perfectly. :D
Jeffrey, the video card is not marked as "unknown" It is called a "standard VGA adapter" and I have tried many things even decompiling the nvidia driver installer to use as a manually chosen driver. And so you know, the Nvidia drivers I have tried to install have all been for their 'M series" which are all for "mobile" i.e. not "desktop" cards.
I feel that your suggestion od the HD QUAD CORE having no impact on video, may be a little uninformed as all the writeups I have read, suggest that it helps take the video processing load off the cpu. Again, I am no expert, merely keen to see if I can get this thing running without Windoze Vista.

1 - Yes, sort of.   The LiveCycle products require the LiveCycle foundation classes to run, but you don't need to install the other modules (Forms, ReaderExtensions, etc). With Generator you will get some "common" modules, such as Assembler. To merge two documents in the manner you mentioned, you will use Assembler.

In order to convert DOC/DOCX to PDF, you need to install MS Office and also Acrobat on your LiveCycle Server. But there is no need to install any software on the client. You can only buy and install PDF Generator ES solution component. Once you installed PDF Generator you can invoke it through Java API or Web Services.

Livecycle PDF Generator on Unix environment

Hi,
Has anyone installed Adobe LiveCycle PDF generator on a Unix platform for converting Microsoft Office documents to the PDF format?
- How does it work, since Microsoft Office cannot be installed on the Solaris platform?
- I read that Open Office needs to be installed on the Unix m/c for the actual conversion. Is it True?
- What is the quality of the PDF's generated when the PDF Generator is on Unix platform?

I have a system that can only print PCL format to a networked printer. Can LiveCycle PDF Generator act as a solution for this?

I would also like to know if PDF Generator could then direct the created PDF based on what it contains to various e-mail accounts.

I have a main system that I can generate reports in and designate a printer to print to once the report is finished. I want that printer to be a virtual printer that creates a PDF. I then the ability to have that PDF auto e-mailed to some address of my choosing. Can PDF/G do this?

Is there any Adobe LiveCycle PDF Generator for PS EXPERTS?

There seems to be a lot of question about this product with no answers. When you call Adobe you get the run around.
How is the product supposed to work?
When a basic installation is performed it does not do what is expected.
If you are suppose to be able to create Postscript files or drop Office documents in a watch folder or email them to the server and it converts them. Why does it not work? These are the basic function not a lot of development required. The only files that are converted are .PS and then it appends .PDF to the end of it. (test.ps.pdf) if fails on all office documents with an "Error Code: 11,020 Reason: The source file you submitted is not supported by this version of PDF Generator. If this product does not support this function then why did the installation require you to install Office before the Livecycle product is installed?

Have you run SRT for the PDFG requirements?
         a. Using command prompt go to : <LC_Install_Dir>\pdfg_srt
         b. Issue the command: SystemReadinessTool .vbs <outputDir>
         c. Review the SRT Report
                i. There should be no Error Messages(even include set Adobe PDF as default printer)
                ii. There should be no Warning Messages related to the Application you plan to test

When I open the form in Designer, it prompts me to enter a password. Before I go back to the client, I wanted to know if a pdf generated by Distiller can be opened and edited in Designer?

How can I install the pdf printer when Win 7 doesn't offer the choice?

I have Acrobat 8.0 Pro, and in XP I used to have an Adobe pdf printer in my printer's dropdown list, so that it was possible to convert anything in any application into a pdf document.
Now I had to change the system, and I try to install a pdf printer. The Acrobat help simply says "in devices and printers chose the pdf printer". Yes, would be easyif it were at choice. But it isn't.
I assume there must be a driver missing. Does anybody know anything about the what and where?

AA8 works on VISTA and several folks have reported it working on 32-bit Win7 (I have only heard of 2 getting it to work on the 64-bit system). Adobe does not support AA8 beyond VISTA (actually they won't give much support on AA8 for anything anymore). If you were successful in the Win7 installation and Acrobat and Distiller both open, then there is a chance you will be able to get things taken care of. As I understand it, you can open Acrobat, but the updates in the help menu do not respond. In that case go to http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=1&platform=Windows and download the updates for manual installation. If you start with the most current update, it will tell you on the download page the previous update that is required. That way you can go back through the updates and install the needed ones in order. Reboot after the last update only.

I can not install the Reader 9.3!
Software is asking to be logged in as administrator. But I am logged in as administrator
I have Windows Vista.
What do I have to do to get the reader installed?

UAC is user accont control in Vista. To turn UAC off follow steps below:
Click Start and then open Control Panel.
In the Control Panel, click User Accounts and Family Safety.
Click User Accounts.
Click Turn User Account Control on or off.
Clear the tick or check mark on the box beside the Use User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer option.
Click OK.
Restart your system.
Note that the changes will affect all users on the computer.
To enable the UAC, simply tick or select the checkbox again and restart.
