Can I install my Macbooks iMovie HD6 disc on to my new MacbookPro?

I have a Macbook with iMovie HD 6 on it. I will soon be buying a new Macbook Pro which will have iMovie 09 but I still want to be able to use imovie HD 6 on this as well. Can I install iMovie HD6 on to the new MacbookPro from the macbooks install disc?

what I've read here and on some other boards: No.
but.. do you like to be my guniea pig...
(I can not try my own on my setup)
I would try:
re-name on the new Mac the iMovie app to.. like, iMovie_new (single click app, both keys apple-i, change name, return.. )
then insert the installer disks, choose a custom install of iMovie
IF it does work, re-name iMHD6 to something like iMHD_old and re-name iMovie_new back to iMovie09..
..

Can I install on MacBook Windows 32-bit version?  I went through the installation and when I try to run the update on Windows (due to no internet access) I receive a comment that the Windows and Boot Camp Windows update don't agree? I downloaded Windows update through Boot Camp process?

You can install W7 32-bit, but you will need to use Boot Camp Support Software 4.0.4033 drivers. You will need to run Bootcamp Assistant 4 from an older version of OSX. You can install OS X: Installing OS X on an external volume - Apple Support which has BCA 4.x and then install W7 32-bit.

Hi adobe, i can't install some adobe products.
These includes Photoshop, creative clouds and any trial!
    i already contacted the chat.

I translated some word because i have the Dutch version of my iOS.
for some reason no Adobe product other than flash and the other known ones won't install on a Case-sensitive harddrive.
Can this be solved without resetting the entire stuff?
Or is it possible for adobe to make a update on this?
I don't understand why you would make these restrictions on installation!
    Edit:
If i need to reinstall my entire stuff, how do i do that with a macbook air which hasn't got a cd/dvd drive?
I also guess it deletes my entire HD?
    Any help is well accepted!
i would love to buy/use the PS trial to see wheter i want to buy it or not.

No, Adobe software doesn't support case-sensitive drives:
Error "Case-sensitive drives not supported" or similar install error | Mac OS
You will have to fully reformat/ reinitialize your system and reinstall OSX from scratch. And it's not an enforced restriction, Apple's APIs for this are simply too unreliable and Adobe doesn't use them.

  • Is there a way I can still install apps from the Applications disc on Mavericks?

A few weeks ago, I was installing a new SSD into a 2009 MBP. I reinstalled Snow Leopard from the disc that came with the computer and proceeded to upgrade to Mavericks. Unfortunately, unbeknownst to me, you cannot install the iLife applications (namely, iPhoto) from the Applications disc once you upgrade past Snow Leopard. Is there a way I can still install these applications without having to buy them through the app store?

Pacifist may be able to do it - it does cost money

  • I can't install an older version of flash player and the new one won't work.

I've read on the boards everyone says to run the Adobe uninstaller prior to trying to install the older version and I did, but the download still says it can't install the older version because it isn't the current version. And the current version isn't running on my computer. All I have is a black screen. I need the adobe flash player to for work purposes and it is really hindering my ability to function at work without it. Can someone please provide some kind of help that may actually work? Because I've uninstalled and reinstalled this several times. I have tried adjusting settings...everything I have found on the boards so far.

My experience (going back to a G5 iMac in 2005) is that you MUST install the lower version first in order to run two different versions on the same machine. I did it that way with CS and CS3, then CS3 and CS4, and later on my MacBook with CS4 and CS5. Now my Mini has CS5.5 and CS6, but I've always had to install the lower CS version first or the higher would keep the lower from installing.
So you will probably have to remove CS4 and then reinstall them both in the proper order.
Is there any particular reason you want or need both? In my case, I already had CS 3 and installed CS4 in addition, but later removed CS3 as I found CS4 was able to do everything CS3 did and then some. In fact I'm unaware of anything aside from some older filters that would run better in CS3 than CS4.

  • I bought my macbook air off a friend, i can't install iPhoto or iMovie for free :(

    Hi People,
me askign for help again i am affraid, mac newbie here..
i was lucky enough to purchase a pristine macbook air mid 2011 off my friend today and have been having some teething troubles.
one being i would really like to download imovie and iphoto, and i was told they were free....however it says that they have been downloaded by another user and now are £10.49 each?
I have done a complete system reboot (i accidently deleted the partitioned drive today and had to do an internet reinstall to mountain lion, then an update to maverick...took about 8 hours). as far as i know it is now factory resett, and app store is running with my user ID...
can anyone please help me (in idiot terms until i get used to the mac world), to get these two apps for free?

They are free,      your friend made a mistake,
he needs to open http://supportprofile.apple.com and log in with his Apple ID. Then, choose "Edit Products" and remove the MacBook Air.
that macbook needs to be disassociated with his ID
then recover ( http://www.apple.com/osx/recovery/ ) the machine as new from box state with Imovie and Iphoto installed at that point under your user name / ID

  • Can I use my Macbook Pro OS discs to upgrade my desktop?

    Hello list
I am wondering whether I can use the software install discs that came with my MacBook Pro to upgrade the OS on my desktop. I have a G4 quicksilver running OS 10.3.9, and the disks that came with my laptop are OS 10.4.6. Can I safely use them to upgrade my OS?

No. The install discs that came with your MBP are for intel machines only. It will not work.

  • I erased Classic from my Powerbook, how can I install it back w/out disc?

Hi. this is my first post. I found a bunch of old pics on floppy disc, but when trying to open, it says "need Mac Classic 9 to open." I deleted Classic thinking I'd never use it, but I guess I do need to use Claris, Simpletext and see tons of pics and try to revive them back into the future. Can anyone help? Thanks in Advance. I have discs [ 1-5 ] of a iBook G4 install, scared to install them, but not what I'm using now. I'm on a Powerbook G4 [aluminum] using 10.4.11

    kalifornia,
Excellent. OS9 should be available as a custom restore.
Custom restore gives you the choice of several items to restore, iMovie is one of them, XCode might be another, OS9 is also one.
If your query is Mac specific, come here and search for a previous post on the topic. And if you can't find it, ask it.
For many here we like helping, but we hate helping those too lazy to search first.
Here's three links to help with the restore, depending on which OS your PBG4 shipped with:

  • How can I install Adobe PSE9 from my old computer to my new computer that doesn't have a disc drive?

Recently purchased a new PC with Windows 8 and doesn't have a disc drive. How do I install my Adobe PSE9 from my old computer to my new computer?
    Thanks!

You do not install it from the older machine to the newer one.  You just install it on the newer one, and if you prefer to you can deactivate it on the older one, though you are not required to since you are allowed to have the software activated on two machines.
You can download the trial version of the software thru the page linked below and then use your current serial number to activate it.
Be sure to follow the steps outlined in the Note: Very Important Instructions section on the download pages at this site or else the download will not work properly.

  • Can i install os 9 without a disc?

Hello... excuse my computer illiteracy! I have a powerbook G4 and I've had it for about 3 years. When I first got it, it already had OS9 installed on it, and it was an OS X 10.2 i think - so I never had an OS 9 install disc. At some point recently my hard drive got wiped out and I was given 10.4 [Tiger, I believe..] and now I no longer have Classic. I just recently bought something that requires classic and I can't find a simple answer. Is there anything I can do to get classic? Thanks a lot..
    powerbook g4 12"   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

Jen, Niel's probably off wrapping Christmas presents and sorry but no, there is nothing you can do without a disk.
When you "never had an OS 9 install disc" are you sure? All G4 Macs shipped with 9 installers but most of them were hidden away inside the X disks, which is why Niel pointed you at that link above…
If you don't still have the complete set of grey disks that came with that Mac, the choices are to buy a replacement from some combination of AppleStore/AppleHelp depending on your location, or chat up the friendly people at your local Mac User Group here

  • Can't install Photoshop (CS3) via Remote Disc

I was successfully able to install iWork '08 last night via Remote Disc, but I've tried twice to install Photoshop and both times it failed. I was able to get on Acrobat Professional and some of the Shared Components, but after anywhere between 30 minutes and 2 hours it gives me a message saying that installation of Photoshop failed.
Anyone else had a similar problem?

Don't know about Windows issues since I was installing from my MBP. I can only imagine it's worse.
I was successful in dragging the entire Photoshop folder over from the MBP last night, but when I opened it it said that pieces were missing. That's the trouble with CS3; it's all so intertwined that it seems like you really need the installer to help you get just the bits you need.
I'm trying to embrace Steve's disc-less vision here, but I'm not sure if we're there yet. I don't want to break down and by the Superdrive, but it sounds like a lot of people got one (probably in anticipation of this kind of headache).

  • Can you install Windows 8.1 Pro using Parallels on a new MacBook Pro without retina display?

I am starting a graduate school program and I would like to purchase a MacBook Pro. The options for the non-retina display fit my needs best, but it sounds like the resolution requirements for Windows 8.1 Pro do not match the MacBook Pro without retina. I need Windows to run a statistics program (SAS) and ArcGIS for mapping. Any thoughts or experience installing Windows 8.1 Pro on MBP without retina?

The native res on my 13-inch non-Retina is 1280x800. You might check with Parallels support or their forums to see if this is a problem.
If you go with the non-Retina 13-inch, I'd recommend getting 8GB RAM (standard is 4GB) because Win emulators need a fair bit of memory.
