Can I install software on a bootable sd card?

I am a professional photographer who often uses my MacBook Pro on location to review, edit, caption and upload images. In the event of a hard drive crash, I would like to make a bootable SD card, and have found very good instructions on how to do this. My question is: can I install software (such as PhotoShop and Photo Mechanic) on this SD card to allow me to operate in an emergency? If so how do I do this? Thanks.

hi, i face the same problem and appreciate your help. I delted iphone and the library. I reinstalled iphoto from the original application install DVD and when trying to open it I get a failure message. My mac version is 10.8.5 and the install disc is 10.6.6. For the record, since the iPad 2 supports iOS 8 any attempt to update the iPad 2 will result in an update to 8.1. Apple only supports updating to the latest version of the operating system that the device supports.

you could borrow or buy an external CD/DVD drive with a USB connector to install the software from your CD to your MacBook Pro.

Hello everyone,
I seem to have a problem installing new software... For some reason I can't install anything, the installer opens and I follow every step, but in the installation step, the bar just keeps moving but never actually moves as in completing the bar... I tried update from the app store and I can't, I press on update and it stays selected but nothing happens... I tried manually install 10.9.5, no luck, I tried with other softwares like, Teamviewer (which i really need to install), and Java.. but all is the same in all of them.
Can someone please help me? I need my computer for school and work and this can't happen ... :s
I'll be happy to send anyone images of the problem if I wasn't as clear as I wanted to be lol

I can longer install software packages using ARD.

I can no longer install software packages to other computers on my local network. I used to do this frequently to four other computers on my network, but no it just gets stuck on "Waiting for item." status. I cannot figure out how to fix this. I have tried all I know: rebooting everything, etc...

How can I install software without Classic environment?

I've got a huge problem. My Powerbook hard drive failed and no data can be recovered. So, because I needed a new computer, I just got the new iMac intel. But here's why I'm freaking out. I've got a lot of software (like Quark Xpress 6 and Addobe Acrobat 6.0) that are all upgrades to previous versions. But since the new iMacs don't run Classic environment, I can't install the older versions of software so I can install my upgrades. What on Earth do I do? I'm a graphic designer - so I HAVE to have Quark on this new machine.
I have a lot of software in Windows format. I keep reading different things that say I can boot Windows on my new iMac. Does this mean there is a way for me to install software that runs on a PowerPC on my new iMac? If so, how do I do that?
I need all the help I can get with this one. I tried contacting Apple and did a chat with an Apple agent that got me nowhere. All I know is that I cannot afford to buy the full versions of software right after buying this new machine. HELP!!!!!!!

Congratulations on your new iMac.
Quark can be reinstalled by inserting the upgrader disk and double clicking the Quark upgrader icon. A dialog box opens that asks "In order to begin upgrading your current version of QuarkXPress you will be asked to locate the directory". At this point, while holding down the "Option" key, click the "ok" button. The install should go smoothly from there.
In regards to Acrobat, any older version requiring classic will not run on your new intel iMac. However, if you've already purchased an upgrade, i believe there is an option of opting to enter your old serial number, rather than pointing the installer to a previous installation when installing the upgrade.

I am pretty sure you can put on two computers. I think after you put the serial number in, Adobe will let you know whether you can put another copy on or not. It keeps track of how many times you've installed it. I hope that makes sense.

Well like xaver said it could be a hardware problem but before you contact the ASP try to remove the drive from the device manager. After new reboot the OS should recognizes the driver again. Maybe this procedure will help you to solve this problem. But if not, please contact the service partner
